cramping 3/4 days after suspected Ovulation - Could I be Pregnant?

Hi all,

So I am a newbie to this website! Smile

My husband and I are trying for our first baby! We are currently on our 2nd Cycle of trying (I sobbed when AF came to visit last) and I am now in that dreaded 2WW period. I have been having strange symptoms but I dunno if I am just symptom spotting because I'm waiting you know?? Hmm

Okay so some background:

I believe that I am about 3 or 4 DPO (Clue says 4 days and Ovia says 3.. although I've only just started Ovia and been using Clue for ages to track my cycle so Clue might be more correct?) The past couple of days I have been experiencing a load of cramping! It started at the top just under my chest and for the past couple of days its basically period pains without AF! I keep running to the bathroom to check if AF has come early as I know Im not due until about Saturday next week! I seem to be weeing a lot more and I haven't upped my drink intake! (Or I could just be paying more attention to these things.) I also seem to be yawning a lot and REALLY gassy.. not to mention I'm having issues with going to the loo.

I did a PT yesterday and not surprisingly it came back negative.. coz its far too early to test right?

My DH and I did the deed on day 1, day 4 and day 6 of my suspected ovulation period and then again the day after (which would have been 3 days ago. ) I just did a CM test and had a load of stringy (sorry tmi!) type mixed in with creamy white. Could that be my husbands left over? Dunno if it lasts that long?

I was diagnosed with IBS a while ago.. but I haven't had a flair up for months and have't changed my eating pattern.. so i doubt it could be that!

Sorry if I am coming across as stupid.. this is all so new to me.. and there is only so much Googling a person can do before they start to become slightly crazy! Also.. It would be lovely to speak to people who are in the same situation.. as TTC is not really something you can talk to friends and family about is it! Wink

@littleonek 10 days late? thats a pretty long time! I haven't been on the pill for years (tried it when i was 18 for like a year and gave up.) It wrecked havoc with my body so ive been "clean" for over 10 years or so... So my fertility should have sorted itself out by now you know? If we aren't lucky say this month then i might get some. I didnt before because I thought my OH would think it was a waste of money.. but actually we chatted about it last night and he agrees we should try what ever we can.

It's so hard not to test though isnt it.. when we are just hoping and praying for a positive!

Littleonek · 16/06/2017 17:04

10 days is a long time but I had four months of no period so 10 days is nothing compared to that. I was on the pill for four years so my body is still adjusting to having a regular cycle.

Im not fussed about testing, as ive had five months of late/missed periods so im over the panic of needing to know.

I will test on Sunday when back in the UK and see what happens. If its negative I will wait for my period and test in another 7 days time.

Try not to stress too much about it as most people take a year to get pregnant. If you stress every month by 12 months yr be a nervous wreck.

Pinkemi · 17/06/2017 08:36

Oh my god a year? :-(

Hope you are having a good holiday! I fell asleep last night reading my new book.. not because it was boring but because i just felt so sleepy! My eyelids were drooping at like 9:30pm.

Woke up this morning to a backache and a twinge in my hips.. Which normally means AF is on her way. Meh.

@Pinkemi hello! 👋🏻
AF is currently with me after a Clearblue pregnancy test (which I posted on here and everyone agreed looked like a faint positive) tricked me! For future reference use the digital or a first response!! Haha
This was my second cycle trying and I came off the pill in January. I think I assumed as my periods appeared to come back straight away that all was normal however it's only this AF that's made me realise that actually my body is only just getting back to normal!! It's been dreadful thus far 😭
I also have annoying and not so common apparently nausea symptom PMS the whole week before AF comes. This has happened the past two times and so makes it so difficult to symptom spot.
I have decided though to just chill out. As others have said it can take a year or more. There's like a 20% chance of getting pregnant each month 🙈 I definitely think we should give ovulation sticks a go this month though! Are you with me? No idea how they work, a bit of research needed! 🌹

Littleonek · 17/06/2017 13:12

Was your period just late this month?

Thanks, holiday was fab just went on a family hol to spain. Back in the UK today. Still no period, day 9 so far. Might test this afternoon. Not sure if you dont test in the morning after an expected its ok? Last time I had cramps a few days before my period started. Had no cramps this month, just ovulation cramps two weeks ago.

That sucks you had a fake positive! :(

With ovulation tests ive done a few, the clear blue ones are best as there is no guessing if you ovulates as it shows a flashing smily face. The cheap ones you have to compare the colour of the line.

Pinkemi · 17/06/2017 13:41

Well I'm out this month.. AF just arrived. :-(

OP posts:
Littleonek · 17/06/2017 13:49

Sorry to hear that, focus on the postivie your cycle is doing what it is supposed to do! :)

Littleonek · 17/06/2017 21:30

Did two tests this afternoon both negative, just have to wait for my period to arrive.

Pinkemi · 19/06/2017 11:37

Have to admit Im feeling very grumpy this morning... Have been reading my new book all weekend and feel like my brain is a little overloaded with info. OH is supportive but now worried that I am going to become obsessed with this whole baby making lark. I was like.. erm.. bit late.. i already am! haha

Im cutting out caffiene as much as i can.. but does anyone know if decaf tea is okay?? I know Coffee is a no no as its too acidic and can make your CM too acidic for the swimmers.

OP posts:
Littleonek · 19/06/2017 12:30

Haha i was like that at first but after many months of rejects ive lost my excitement.

Ive carried on drinking decaf tea. I like that too much to cut it out.

Poppyflo29 · 19/06/2017 15:39

I'd get some ovulation sticks and try not to become too obsessed. He can take over your life. I used the clear blue digital ovulation sticks and they were great and turns out bang on for us. Ovia was a few days out. Good luck.

BunsOfAnarchy · 19/06/2017 15:53

@Pinkemi I didn't know that about coffee. I thought id have to stop it during pregnancy, didnt know its best to do it for conception....I drink loads. Think I may aswell start cutting it out now.

Pinkemi · 19/06/2017 16:58

@poppyflo29 I ordered some ovulation dual hormone sticks today from Amazon.. so hopefully they arrive soon!

@bunsofAnarchy yep! Apparently the reason why we shouldn't be having more then 1 or 2 cups of tea a day is that the caffeine stops the absorption of folic acid. So i could have been taking this supplements for nothing! lol

Interestingly.. does anyone else take folic acid or anything? or drink special herbs etc to boost fertility? :)

OP posts:
Littleonek · 19/06/2017 18:36

I may start cutting back on tea then. I take the boots folic acid with vitamin d.

One thing I learned with clear blue ovulation tests are to hold them ans pee on them. Whenever I put the test into a pot of pee i always got an error message.

Btw first response tests are buy one get one free in boots atm! Time to stock up!

BunsOfAnarchy · 20/06/2017 07:57

@Littleonek have you ever tried the cheap ovulation strips? I was too cheap to buy clearblue so bought some strips from amazon. Not used them yet as I bought them after I'd ovulated for this month. I don't know if they're very accurate though. Ifor clear blue are good then I may just invest.

Pinkemi · 20/06/2017 14:23

@littleonek typical.. I just bought some more off Amazon yesterday... due to be shipped to me tomorrow! haha

@BunsofAnarchy I have never used them.. but I have read that they "can" be difficult to read. But I guess it depends on the user? I dunno.

So am feeling very down and pretty stressed today. Work is manic... ive hardly had the time to eat anything so I have the worst headache possible. Normally i would be living off tea and coffee.. but ive only had 1 cup of decaf tea (because I just wanted a cup of tea!) and some herbals. Am trying to drink Redbush instead as I heard its naturally caffeine free.. But i wonder if it has the same issue as decaf? I dunno.

Just meh.. having a MEH day.. Hope everyone else is feeling happier then I am! haha

BunsOfAnarchy · 20/06/2017 14:39

Aah @Pinkemi you poor thing. Bet this angry humid weather doesn't help!

You must eat! Start taking some granola type bars to work, at least if u don't have time for lunch you can scoff one when have 5 mins. (I once scoffed a chicken pastie in the loo. I felt extra dirty doing it too)

I've heard that about redbush too. I'm finding it really hard to say no to coffee today. I can give it up easy usually but I think I'm too stressed at work to say no!

Littleonek · 20/06/2017 17:42

Hey

I tried some super cheap money back guarenteed ones in a white and green packet and they were crap. Didnt even show a test line.

Im thinking next month of doing cheap ones in the evening and clear blue in the morning then ive got everything covered.

Still no period, this week is meant to be my ovulation week and ive had some discharge like i normally do. Im not sure if im ovulating this week and my period just didnt arrive or its my period on the way... Angry

Hopefully your day at work will be more relaxed tomorrow. :)

Pinkemi · 21/06/2017 10:41

work wont be any better until the end of the month and Quarter End is over! Typically I am due to ovulate (according to my apps) next weekend when I am likely to be overly stressed due to work.

I went for a interview a couple of weeks ago for a job transfer and I haven't heard anything back. :( I think thats the main reason for my meh feeling. Just want to get out so much but the Matt pay is too good to leave the company.

I'm waiting in for my amazon package for my ovulation tests today! Although I have to pop to the bank at lunch time and I bet they turn up when im not here.. always happens that way! haha

OP posts:
BunsOfAnarchy · 21/06/2017 22:30

@Pinkemi did the tests arrive?

I think give the interview place a call if they still haven't got back to you. Least that way u can move forward.

Littleonek · 21/06/2017 23:16

Hang in there, you will get a postive result soon! I agree chase for an update on the interview.

My period is now 13 days late with stomach cramps randomly going off since monday. This wait is too long! Angry

Pinkemi · 22/06/2017 09:31

@bunsofAnarchy yep they arrived yesterday at about 4ish. Waiting for AF to finish before I start thinking about using them. She seems to be hanging around quite a bit this month for some reason. I'm now on day 2 over normal length with red spotting instead of brownish. (Trying not to worry about it... probably just stress!)

I called the HR Woman yesterday and left a message on her answerphone around 4:30ish. Didn't hear back yesterday and hoped i would come in to an email.. but nothing. :( I am beginning to lose hope that I was successful. My only hope is that because I am an internal applicant, they have decided not to second interview me (coz whats the point?) and they are just ironing out the others?? I dunno.. clinging onto short straws maybe. :(

Just such a shame.. I really can't stand my job and i'm sure the stress is not helping my TTC!

@Littleonek 13 days late?? Surely that's time to visit the doctor??

OP posts:
Pinkemi · 22/06/2017 15:44

I have just checked the HR woman's calendar and it looks like she has been busy all of today.. and is on holiday tomorrow. cries So I haven't heard anything back and I really really don't know what to think.

I seem to remember the interviewer saying something like " If you aren't successful you wont hear from us." Problem is I'm not sure I remember fully what he said. gah.. This waiting game is unreal.. But still.. you would think if I had been ironed out as a complete NO.. that someone would tell me seeing as I have chased? Right?!

I am feeling stressed to my eyeballs today. Got a stinking headache from cutting out caffeine completely.. I feel like i wanna fall asleep at my desk.

I'm trying to find local meditation / yoga classes nearby which either don't cost a bomb or are on at stupid times of the day which I can't get to. Not having much luck! Just wanna smash everything and curl into a ball and just not move for days. :(

OP posts:
Littleonek · 22/06/2017 17:29

I work in Recruitment in HR and sometimes it can take a hiring manager over a week to make a decison. I wouldnt stress until you have an answer.

14 days late today, last month my period was 10 days late the month before 21 days late then four months before that nothing. My body is just getting used to not being on the pill. It can take up to a year for it to become normal again. If it doesnt arrive by next months period I will visit the drs.

Pinkemi · 22/06/2017 17:31

But surely you would answer someone back to say that? instead of just leaving them hanging?

i really hope you body sorts itself out soon! I would be at the doctors by now if I was 14 days late. haha
