cramping 3/4 days after suspected Ovulation - Could I be Pregnant?

Hi all,

So I am a newbie to this website! Smile

My husband and I are trying for our first baby! We are currently on our 2nd Cycle of trying (I sobbed when AF came to visit last) and I am now in that dreaded 2WW period. I have been having strange symptoms but I dunno if I am just symptom spotting because I'm waiting you know?? Hmm

Okay so some background:

I believe that I am about 3 or 4 DPO (Clue says 4 days and Ovia says 3.. although I've only just started Ovia and been using Clue for ages to track my cycle so Clue might be more correct?) The past couple of days I have been experiencing a load of cramping! It started at the top just under my chest and for the past couple of days its basically period pains without AF! I keep running to the bathroom to check if AF has come early as I know Im not due until about Saturday next week! I seem to be weeing a lot more and I haven't upped my drink intake! (Or I could just be paying more attention to these things.) I also seem to be yawning a lot and REALLY gassy.. not to mention I'm having issues with going to the loo.

I did a PT yesterday and not surprisingly it came back negative.. coz its far too early to test right?

My DH and I did the deed on day 1, day 4 and day 6 of my suspected ovulation period and then again the day after (which would have been 3 days ago. ) I just did a CM test and had a load of stringy (sorry tmi!) type mixed in with creamy white. Could that be my husbands left over? Dunno if it lasts that long?

I was diagnosed with IBS a while ago.. but I haven't had a flair up for months and have't changed my eating pattern.. so i doubt it could be that!

Sorry if I am coming across as stupid.. this is all so new to me.. and there is only so much Googling a person can do before they start to become slightly crazy! Also.. It would be lovely to speak to people who are in the same situation.. as TTC is not really something you can talk to friends and family about is it! Wink

I'm not sure you've got your timings right. Definitely no reason to spot 3-4 days after ovulation. Also seems like only 10-11 days between ovulation and period which is quite a short time... Also what do you mean dtd on day 1, 4, 6 of suspected ovulation period? Ovulation only happens on one day... It sounds a little confused...

Pinkemi · 09/06/2017 14:10

basically we did the deed on day 1, 4 and 6... Ovia gives me 6 possibly fertile days.. So thats what I mean when i said we did the deed on those days.

OP posts:
Pinkemi · 09/06/2017 15:15

sorry for getting the lingo wrong.. like i said.. I'm VERY new to this.. but I understand that you only ovulate on one day. I should have put "fertile days" instead but was writing this post in a hurry so got it wrong... Thank you for making me look and feel like an idiot. Sad

So.. Ill try again...

I don't do the ovulation sticks testing.. I'm relying on an app to guess when my fertile days are. It says my most fertile day was Sat (Clue) or Sunday (Ovia.) So.. if I ovulated on those days.. It would mean I am now 5 or 6 days past ovulation. Is this still too early to be experiencing pregnancy type symptoms?

@Pinkemi hey Hun if you are 5 or 6 dpo then yes it's to early implantation happens around days 9-12dpo (most common is 9dpo) I hope this helps xxx

Sazwest · 09/06/2017 15:24

So for pregnancy symptoms it is way to early hunni.
I'm 3dpo today and feeling nothing at the minute and will be trying my hardest not to symptom spot but it's so hard lol xx

Pinkemi · 09/06/2017 16:10

[SAD] thanks Sazwest.. I guess I'm just clutching at straws because I really really want to be pregnant.

I guess the reason I thought it "could" be pregnancy related is coz I have never ever had it before..

Although if implantation doesn't happen until day 9.. i guess i could still be in for a BFP... Don't give up hope until AF comes eh?

OP posts:
Sazwest · 09/06/2017 16:29

@Pinkemi exactly Hun you not out till af arrives. X x

GreenDill · 09/06/2017 17:10

Im sure implantation can happen sooner than 9dpo otherwise how do people get faint lines 8/9dpo? I'm sure I've read that BFP can appear around 3 days after implantation (correct me if I'm wrong!! 🤦🏽‍♀️)

I agree with saz symptom spotting is just mental torture! I've been doing it to myself and I'm only 6dpo Hmm

JoJoSM2 · 09/06/2017 17:26

I'm not sure how accurate those apps are - especially that it's only your second cycle. It's possible that you might have ovulated sooner than the apps suggest and spotting could be implantation... if that's the case, then you might find out in few days. Good luck and don't get your knickers in a twist - you've only just started trying ;)

Sazwest · 09/06/2017 17:37

Yeh the apps can definitely be wrong Ovia was telling me I was due to ovulate tomorrow but I ovulated early was Tuesday I ovulated xx

Pinkemi · 11/06/2017 21:12

Is it worth getting some of those ovulation sticks and using those? Part of me feels like because I'm only on my second cycle of trying that it's a bit of a waste of mine? (Ie we should try without for a bit longer.)

Feel like AF is on its way. Been so weepy todsy it is unreal! I normally get pretty emotional the week before it turns up. Which is annoying as I've been taking vitamin B and primrose oil tablets as they are meant to keep these things in check and under control! (Apparently not!)

Greendill I hope you get your BRO this month!

Sorry for typos in above post.. trying to type on my mobile obviously doesn't work! Confused

The apps are usually based on an exact 28 day menstrual cycle so if you don't have a 28 day cycle, you can ovulate earlier or later in the cycle. If you use the ovulation kit it will specify your fertile days for that cycle but if you have irregular periods you could ovulate a different times each cycle. The two week wait is how long before the hormone levels start to rise and the pregnancy test will detect the hormone and you get a BFP. Check out the 'Sperm Meets Egg' method of ttc.

Pinkemi · 12/06/2017 18:48

I've been using Clue for a pretty long time to track my cycle so I know it's roughly 29days. (Can range from 28 to 31 but average is 29.) Maybe if I don't get my BFP this month then I'll get some ovulation kits.

I've heard about this "sperm meets the egg".. Will have to have a Google . Is it a book?

OP posts:
Defuzzing · 12/06/2017 21:42

It's a dtd plan during your most fertile time to give you the best opportunity to conceive. I'm not sure if there is a book but you will find it on Google.

Pinkemi · 13/06/2017 11:45

ah thanks! I will definitely have a Google then. Have you been using it?

woke up this morning to sore boobs and SO tired.. but im not sure if the sure boobs is because I did some body weight training for the first time in about 6 weeks.. and my body is going.. wtf?! Grin Think its more then likely due to that instead of a BFP.

I did buy some tests which you can test "up to 6 days before your late period." Part of me is thinking about doing one on Wednesday when I am wfh.. but then I'm slightly scared to in case it is a BFN.

OP posts:
BunsOfAnarchy · 13/06/2017 11:50

Don't early test! I'm losing my mind testing early because I'm a total douchestick and only 8dpo. Stick it out!

Each BFN makes me go more insane. Fingers crossed for you, I'm in the same boat but hold out till day of projected period start date.

We can do this!x

Defuzzing · 13/06/2017 22:46

What date did your last period start? If you are testing earlier than your expected next period, I wouldn't test more than 3 days before that date. The earlier you test the more likely it is to give you a negative. Especially if if you aren't using your first morning sample.

Pinkemi · 14/06/2017 09:12

Last period started on the 19th May.

Stupidly didn't read this before testing again.. 4 or 5 days before my period is meant to start... Got a BFN again. Sad

Thats it.. no more testing until after the weekend when AF is probably going to show her ugly face.

Am symptom spotting again.. got weird period style cramps and my boobs feel heavier then normal. (Or.. they dont really and I'm just clinging onto hope. lol)

OP posts:
Defuzzing · 14/06/2017 18:21

Lmp 19th May and approx 29 days long
Ov probably between 27th may-6th June (to allow for late ovulation)
Next suspected period due 17th June.
Most early pregnancy tests are more accurate from the 3-5 days before the expected period date. Using first morning sample after a restful nights sleep should be fairly accurate within the coming days.

Pinkemi · 14/06/2017 19:12

So what your saying is that if I was pregnant.. I should really have seen at least a faint line on the test by now? [Sad ]

By the way.. this might be too much to ask.. but does anyone know how long Mr's swimmers stays near the cervix? I only ask as we did it a couple or so days ago (just for fun you know? Haha) and I seem to be getting what looks like EWCM.. Not sure if it is me (and I'm being hopeful) or it's left over from him.

OP posts:
Defuzzing · 15/06/2017 15:20

The early tests are not 100% accurate before a couple of days before your af is due but over 60% according to the instructions.
In the 'right' conditions sperm can live for several days but with the mixture of fluids, it can be hard to detect cm from semen.

Pinkemi · 15/06/2017 15:56

So i'm not going to lose hope.. even though I sorta feel like this month isnt my month... Too many symptoms are the same as last month at this time of my cycle, but then i have also been having some new ones so i dunno. For ever hopeful!

I did buy myself a book today.. getting it delivered tomorrow.

www.amazon.co.uk/Making-Babies-3-Month-Program-Fertility-x/dp/0316024503/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1497538480&sr=1-2&keywords=fertility+3+months&tag=mumsnetforum-21

Thought maybe it could help me eat properly, sleep properly, exercise properly etc etc. lol

OP posts:
Pinkemi · 16/06/2017 11:04

So I did another test yesterday.. (why I have no idea as im due tomorrow or Sunday.) Obviously it came back Negative.. again..

Been symptom spotting again.. trying to get a good idea of what my body does each cycle. This is driving me slightly insane.

OP posts:
Littleonek · 16/06/2017 12:51

I have some info that might help. I Stopped the pill in January, took four months for my periods to come back. In May I used my app to track my ovulation days. Was a negative outcome and my period arrived 10 days late. Angry

This month I decided to use the Clearblue ovulation digital tests. Good job I did as it showed my peak fertility to be 8 days after my app says im meant to ovulate. So I think I ovulate later than my app says. So we did the deeds. Didnt get a peak fertility (you get a static smily face when you ovulate in the next 24 hrs) though.

My period was due 8 days ago. Currently on holiday so cannot test until this weeknd. But not getting my hopes up as my period was over 10 days late last month. No symptoms yet, my normal swollen boobs after my ovulation week normally happens.

I would suggest you try the ovulation digital clear blue tests so see if you ovulate when your app says.

Th tests defo work as it showed my fertility week when I have my normal ovulation clear discharge. They are expensive but defo worth it. The week my ovulation was due we didnt do the deed as I knew my body wasnt in the fertility week as I had no discharge.

I also read last month that a postivie test may not show until at least 7 days after your period is due. So from last months experience ( i tested every three days as my period was mega late) im only testing 7 days after my period was due. Saves the uncertainty and upset.

Hope that helps! Let us know how u get on!
