Thread 30, TTC #1 | Hilda hopefuls are still riding the shag wagon

Jamon · 06/06/2017 08:39

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has well and truly worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Still feel surreal. I need to stop peeing on sticks now lol! I know it sounds daft and I hated others telling me to relax and it will happen but that was the first cycle I genuinely relaxed and didn't stress and wala it happened. Sorry if I sound silly!

Yeah you must have a mixture of emotions right now. From what I've read with your ivf you've had an ok time of it so I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you 😀.

KerryLeanne84 · 08/07/2017 08:47

Congratulations again Rainbow! It still hasn't sunk in for me either - I think pregnancy after infertility is a whole other kettle of fish! Very happy for you!

bassetmum · 08/07/2017 09:57

Congratulations rainbow and otters!! Well first time dtd with a condom for ages this morning!!! It was strange. Hopefully my bloods in ten days time show a marked improvement my fitbit is now saying that since taking the meds my heart rate has gone from a resting rate of 91 to 74!!!! I am feeling so much better for it all too. So fingers crossed it wont be too long before we can start ttc again!!

I have everything crossed for you pjs. I reckon your acronym is 2 days passed a 5 day transfer??? Sounds like DH has turned a corner. I love the white company but never had anything from it.

Flash your night out yesterday sounds fab!!

Pyjamas81 · 08/07/2017 10:09

Yep, that's right basset! IVF brings a whole host of new acronyms and terms - that one, stimming (stimulating drugs), DR (down regulating), EC (egg collection) ET (embryo transfer) etc. DH has been fantastic 😊 So good to hear things are looking up for you and you're feeling better!

I'm feeling good today - did my IVF TWW meditation, had my poached egg and smashed avocado on rye bread for brekkie and all set for our therapy session later 👍🏼

HepKestrel · 08/07/2017 10:18

congrats rainbow !!

Scandalicity · 08/07/2017 10:46

Miranda234 · 08/07/2017 11:37

Huge congratulations rainbow! Wishing you an uneventful 9 months 😊

Also, thinking of you pjyamas and have everything crossed for you!

Chlo22 · 08/07/2017 12:10

Really pleased about all the bfp's, seems like this thread is getting some luck finally!

Am off to a wedding today and feel bad saying it but I'm dreading it. We're sitting with DH's two best friends who are both heavily pg and due month before we would've been and he told me this morning he had something to tell me.. one of his other friends who were sitting with is pg again. Trying to keep brave face on but situations like this are just becoming excruciating and makes me sad as should be a day we're looking forward to with friends :(

HepKestrel · 08/07/2017 12:38

more bfps ????

congrats otters !!!

Am away on work, so not on much at mo.

MouseLove · 08/07/2017 17:20

Congratulations Rainbow and Otters!

I'm back after my whirlwind 2 weeks, have had an amazing wedding and honeymoon. Can honestly say I haven't thought about TTC one bit which has been nice, but can feel it starting to seep back into my brain now. Going to try my best to stress less about it, I have a few months to wait before beginning IVF anyway. It's good to see you getting on so well with your IVF Pyjamas, I can't believe how quickly that's gone. I wait with anticipation for your test date.

Jam - can you put me down for 17th July please?

QuietTime · 09/07/2017 14:45

Thanks jam - 25 Jul for me

Self-involved question: Does anyone know the evidence behind some of the stuff online saying ideal TTC TSH levels of 1-2mU/L?

Congrats rainbow can't believe the run of BFPs! Hope all goes well for the next 9 months

Pyjamas81 · 09/07/2017 14:54

Welcome back skipper!! So happy you had an amazing wedding and honeymoon!!

Jamon · 09/07/2017 15:02

Chlo hope the wedding went well. I was at one yesterday too and luckily no pregnants! Was a lovely day off and we let our hair down probably a bit too much 🍷

Great news on your heart rate basset that must be making you feel better already. I hate it when my pulse races!

Welcome back skipper! Congratulations 😀 hope it all went fabulously well. Any highlights from Japan?

Sorry quiet I don't know anything about that but I would say treat google with caution

OP posts:
sk1pper · 09/07/2017 15:41

So many highlights but I guess the top things were...

Eating copious amounts of Ramen (which we both love). We found a great little joint which you had to queue in line for over an hour but we went their twice it was so good.

Walking up Mount Takao through the ancient forest. We had to take the popular route down which utilises a chair lift but we saw so many lovely Shinto shrines and temples it was just as fun as walking up.

We also went up the Skytree at night time, Asakusa during the day time/night time, visited Akihabara, Shibuya, Ginza, saw where the 47 Ronin were buried and the Imperial Palace, visited the Edo-Tokyo museum, the Ghibli museum and did the Hakone round trip course in a day (though unfortunately Fuji-San was hiding behind cloud). And even then that's only a fraction of it, we always squeeze lots into our time away. We were walking an average of 10 miles each day.

It's quite expensive in Japan but we did treat ourselves to a special honeymoon meal one night which was a 9 course Japanese taster menu. That was incredible.

Back to work tomorrow...bleh!

SmittenPears · 09/07/2017 19:02

@sk1pper, glad to have you back. What a wonderful-sounding trip. :D

@Rainbow, did I already say congrats? Anyway, congratulations!

Here's an update on what's going on with me:

SmittenPears
age:32
TTC #1
cycle: 5
CD: 23

This will be kinda long! So, typical of coming off BCP, I had irregular cycles for several months, which seems to be settling into a rhythm now (as of the last three cycles). Problem is, though, my cycles seem to be very long; I'm ovulating around CD 3336 with an 11-day LP after that. Last cycle DH and I were on separate continents right at the time I ovulated figures -- and this cycle looks to be dicey, as well. Sigh.

I did start temping, though, and the best news is that CM, ovulation pains, and temp shift all point to a clear fertile window and I do appear to be actually ovulating. So hopefully that's not an issue.

During last cycle, when I still wasn't sure whether my cycle was at all regular or not, I went to see my GP. GP was encouraging and suggested I go for day 3 and 21 blood tests and an ultrasound. I missed day 3 of this cycle because of travel, so that will have to wait for next cycle. It will be interesting to have an ultrasound, though!

So, a couple of questions for the hive mind. Getting a blood test taken on day 21 is supposed to give them an idea of whether your progesterone is at a good level post-ovulation, right? But I don't think I'm ovulating until day 33, so I wonder if that's really going to be useful information? I feel like I should be going on day 40 or whatever. (Day 40... ugh...)

Ladies who have had ultrasounds, is there anything in particular I should ask? Or can the technician not really tell you much?

Thanks, all. :)

QuietTime · 09/07/2017 22:45

Hi smitten - just had my blood tests in the last cycle; the 'day 21' is just the name based on an assumed 28 day cycle (i.e. ovulation around day 14, test around 7 days later) - you can adjust the date of your actual test according to your cycle. I have slightly shorter cycles, so mine was in day 18. Bit poor of the GP not to explain - maybe calculate what you think makes sense for you, and double-check with the surgery/GP?

jam thanks, you're right - was my nerdy brain wanting to know more; was annoying me that it seems so widely quoted, couldn't see it on any NHS/NICE sites...

skipper wow, sounds so amazing - so glad you had such a wonderful time!

Jamon · 09/07/2017 23:20

That sounds fantastic skipper you must be feeing rejuvenated - and fit after all that walking!

Smitten your scan will probably be internal. I don't find them uncomfortable and I'm starting to not feel too embarrassed either. They do it all the time. I would ask about number of follicles, any cysts on your ovaries, and how your uterus lining looks - are there any fibroids etc.

Quiet that's absolutely fair enough I can't lie my google search history probably contains the word "morphology" than any other

OP posts:
sk1pper · 10/07/2017 07:21

Jam - have you been getting queasiness/sickness post ovulation on Clomid? I have it again this cycle now that I'm back on it. It's horrible...

MouseLove · 10/07/2017 08:21

Morning ladies, welcome smitten that's really good your GP is investigating this early, I think it's worth mentioning to them about your cycles. Dildocam isn't as bad as everyone makes out, just a tiny bit uncomfortable not painful at all. I've had 4 scans now. 😕

Sk1pper congratulations hunny and welcome back from your honeymoon. It sounds like you had an amazing time.

I'm not usually a symptom spotter but I'm getting tender aches in my lower tummy on the left side. Either I released a beast of an egg and have another cyst or there's something happening down there. I'm not sure how many DPO I am (probably 9-6) today is CD21. AF is due a week today but I probably won't test until the weekend if she doesn't show up.
