Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has well and truly worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

I agree, it was a very stupid thing to say. And it was said by a man! Which surprised me for some reason as they don't usually comment on baby things in my experience.

Was using it to illustrate that I hink what you feel is completely normal Jam. There comes a point when you know what you need, and that's a baby. It is important to hope, and to enjoy the other things life has to offer, but none of those are a subsistute, and people shouldn't try to make you feel that you're somehow being unreasonable.

"Well-wishers" is definitely the word for them Flora, they're the people who feel the need to say something, even though they've nothing helpful to say.

It didn't upset me too much as I'm in the middle of the 2WW so currently in 'hopeful twat' territory, where realistically I think it's unlikely I'm upduffed, but every time my toe aches I assume it must be a sign of implantation!

Flashinthepan · 26/06/2017 14:16

I'd like to do a straw poll! Does everyone agree with fertility friend on when I OVd?

HepKestrel · 26/06/2017 14:19

I don't temp or use FF, but I would niavely guess it was the cd14

florafoxtrot · 26/06/2017 14:34

I'm inclined to say CD14 too flash

Flashinthepan · 26/06/2017 14:41

I agree! Thanks girls.

HepKestrel · 26/06/2017 14:45

looks either way you are well covered, so don't stress about it .
LSFX.

Flashinthepan · 26/06/2017 14:52

Thanks Hep. For me it's mostly I don't want to get too hopeful if AF is 'late' but not really late if you see what I mean!

harrietm87 · 26/06/2017 15:43

flash so are you 5dpo today? When are you going to test?

Maybe we can be testing buddies. I'm probably going to test next Monday, which will be 11 dpo for me.

Flashinthepan · 26/06/2017 17:58

Yes Monday is my testing day if I am 5 dpo not 7 dpo. Yes let's be testing buddies harriet. Can you also be like my Ttc sponsor, coaxing me to put down the frer until Monday.

DH is away on a stag do this weekend so don't want to test early anyway as he wouldn't be there, but if I'm alone, the crazy might take over.

harrietm87 · 26/06/2017 18:18

Ha ha it will have to be mutual encouragement to step away from the frers! I'm staying with my inlaws this weekend which should help me avoid it.

Is anyone else testing soon?

LoveRainbow02 · 26/06/2017 18:37

Hope you had a lovely wedding day skipper and enjoy your honeymoon!

Keeping my fx for you pyjamas. Loving the beautiful womb comment lol!

Good luck with the clomid this cycle jam. Hope it works well for you.

Sorry for receiving and insensitive comment flash. Most people don't understand what an emotional rollercoaster ttc is. Also good luck to you and Harriet for testing day.

As for me I'm on cycle day 18 and I have felt ovulation pains this morning and had loads of watery cervical mucus. I've done well and stayed away from the opks but I caved this morning and tested and got a super strong positive. Bit miffed that I am ovulating this late in my cycle but hey ho! I guess I'm going from a regular 28 day cycle to much longer cycles now. Another joy of ttc!

Also sorry to anyone I have missed.

Flashinthepan · 27/06/2017 10:50

FF has recalculated my ovulation date to the day we all thought it should be. So it's given me Sunday as my AF day, so testing Monday would mean I was one day late. So that's good. If I hold out until Sunday I'll be proud!

Boobs have stopped hurting. Feel quite relaxed. Maybe I've turned a corner...

Hope you manage to catch the egg Love.

harrietm87 · 27/06/2017 11:24

Ah that's good flash. I've realised I'm
going to have to test on Sunday after all. I'm meant to take the steroids for 10 days from ovulation to 10dpo and then test, and if bfp I have to keep taking the steroids.

But I started the steroids early this month because of all the confusion about when I ovulated, which means I have to stop taking them on thurs (7 dpo). That means it is extra important to find out as early as poss if bfp so I can start taking them again. Obviously 10dpo is super early so even if I have conceived it might be too soon, but think I have to try. Argh.

Flashinthepan · 27/06/2017 11:49

I will keep my fingers crossed for you Harriet. Can you extend the steroids for 3 days as your ovulations dates were out? Do you have a doctor you can ring?

harrietm87 · 27/06/2017 12:06

I've asked the clinic and they told me to stop the steroids after 10 days even though early, as if you are on them longer than this you can't just stop abruptly - need to taper the dose and it may also affect my next cycle - not ideal!

Obviously now worried that even if I do conceive there could be a few days when I should be taking them but won't be, and could therefore end up with another mc, but there's nothing I can really do about it. Hoping there is some sort of residual cumulative effect of the steroids that will keep my immune system suppressed until I find out whether I've conceived or not.

Flashinthepan · 27/06/2017 12:25

I'm sure it will be fine Harriet but I can understand the worry absolutely.

Sorry to derail as this is nothing to do with TTC, but for a long time I've stuck with my job because the money is good for my sector, and it would be flexible/easy going if I got pregnant. But I'm bored and unfulfilled. I'm thinking of applying to do a Creative Writing MA, which is designed around professionals so would be 2 evenings a week. But worried if I did get pregnant it would be really complicated. I wouldn't have to give up my current job to do it but would be a lot more of my time. Should I go for it?

LynseyLou1982 · 27/06/2017 12:42

Hi.

I use Fertility Friend but I don't currently have a BBT thermometer. Planning to get one ready for when AF is supposedly due to arrive next week. Not been doing Fertility Friend long, is it when your temperature goes up that you should be ovulating? I'm on TTC #1at 34 so I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing and when really.
Thanks.

Flashinthepan · 27/06/2017 12:51

Hi Lynsey. I'm not the expert (we need Alexia for that) but I think the general rule is that your temperature will rise the day after you ovulate. You may not need to temp during AF, as temps can be up and down during it.

I've attached my chart for this month. FF thinks I ovulated on CD 14.

bassetmum · 27/06/2017 13:52

Flash go for it!! I worked full time and then did a master distance learning and it was hard but so rewarding. Will you have time if you've got little ones at home.

Sorry Ive been a bit MIA. Been tricky keeping up when I'm not ttc currently. But congratulations sk1pper. Hope your day and honeymoon is everything you wanted it to be. Good luck with the ivf pjs. I beautiful uterus sounds awesome.

With me I am eights days into my meds and I feel so much better already. The zombie like tiredness i was feeling has gone. My heart rate isnt quite as manic. The consultant yesterday was happy with my progress but he has increased the dose on cam a bit and prescribed me some beta blockers for my palpitations. He doesn't think radioiodine or surgery are options for me so thats good. Hopefully my levels get sorted quickly and I can get back on the train!!!

Flashinthepan · 27/06/2017 14:00

I'm seriously considering it Basset or at the very least trying to set aside more time to write and make it a priority. I always find excuses.

So pleased to hear you are starting to feel better. Onward and upwards!

LynseyLou1982 · 27/06/2017 14:16

Thanks Flashinthepan :-)

florafoxtrot · 27/06/2017 14:26

Hi Lynsey - temping is great for tracking your cycle and giving you some confidence in knowing that you ovulated and that you are into the TWW. However it doesn't really work in terms of predicting ovulation as your temp won't increase until after ovulation if that makes sense. I tend to temp and use OPKs as they work best in conjunction.

Go for it Flash - if nothing else I think its really important to do things for yourself while you are TTC - its all consuming and having a distraction is really good for you.

SmittenPears · 27/06/2017 16:12

Hi everyone -- sorry I've been quiet! Just busy and a couple of weeks of work travel back to back.

Congratulations, Kerry!!
And Flash, I humbly submit that you should totally go for it.

I have a couple of small updates, but I think they'll have to wait until I'm not on my phone. LSFX and speedy TWW to everyone. (Also, "hopeful twat" is the most perfect term I've ever heard......!!)

For now, please put me down for July 31!

SmittenPears · 27/06/2017 16:20

LynseyLou1982, Fertility Friend has a bunch of short youtube videos and podcasts that explain it really well and clearly, if you're interested.

LynseyLou1982 · 27/06/2017 16:39

Thanks I'll have a watch tonight whilst DP is out. He pulls funny faces at me when I start talking about BBT and OPK's :-) I think it freaks him out a bit.
