No period or pregnancy symptoms :/??

Since coming off the pill I have had my period bang on time, arriving always on the 3Rd or 4th of each month. Therefore I was expecting my period to come today or yesterday (sat/sun).. Instead since Friday j have had odd bit of brown discharge which I've only noticed from wiping or once using a tampon for a few hours.. I've since been wearing a panty liner and had nothing show up.

I didn't expect to be considering pregnancy this month as I'm the pervious weeks we have been on holiday and avoiding pregnancy via the "pull out" technique. We were told by our nurse before going on holiday to avoid pregnancy until we returned and had a test for the Zika virus.

We hadn't had sex since coming home two weeks ago but haven't had the money to have the test for Zika yet.

Any thoughts on whether this sounds like pregnancy? I haven't really had any other symptoms x

Thanks x

I think you need to wait the 6 months. Could you really feel responsible knowing that there is a risk of your baby having zika?? I can't comprehend that. It's selfish I'm really sorry to say that to you but I think your desperation to be pregnant is making your judgement skewed. It's very important you take advice from medical professionals. You can't put a baby at risk for your own gain. Paying £300 and having a test for zika just for your husband means nothing, did you know you can still present no symptoms and still develop it? Why risk something so important.

I understand how you are feeling I really do, I've been there, got the tshirt, the baseball cap and a souvenir mug. I get it. I really do. But this is the most important decision of your life. Please be sensible. We waited. I've just waited again for another reason. I've been waiting 10 years. This is important, don't rush.

I wish you all the luck. Xxx

We plan to take the test asap.
We're both heart broken right now so I could do without a lecture today. Thanks

Hey 16! So sorry for your disappointing outcome, take some time out and be good to each other Smile
You decided to go for the Zika test? Please try not to beat yourself up over it! There's nothing to say that Zika caused what's happened - there's very little known about it, and lots of people have chemical pregnancies, don't blame yourself.
In terms of you have carried on trying when you know you've been exposed to it - that was your individual choice, don't let yourself be made to feel bad about it! You read as much on it as you could, as did I, and it's upto the individual how they feel about the risk. Let me know how you get on if you decide to go for the test x

16MrsE · 07/07/2017 10:21

Thanks for the support hun I'll keep you updated. Did you take the test? Xx

I didn't, still unsure whether or not to, and we haven't been using any barrier protection. If I'm not mistaken I think the test needs to be done within a couple of weeks of exposure? Not 100% sure on that though so don't quote me!
Like I said, it's a calculated risk. Zika is spread sexually and by mosquito bites - neither me or my DF were bitten, and neither of us (obviously!) were sexually active with someone who might have been. So our risk (in my mind) is incredibly small x

16MrsE · 07/07/2017 13:30

It's just a different test if it's more than two weeks after. It's recommended to wait til your back for min of two weeks. That site you told me about I emailed them and they do test in Sheffield so may do near you too. Going to pay for husband to be tested so if he's clear I am too and if he has it we will have to be careful for six months from results xx

That sounds like a good plan :) am I right in thinking it's just a urine sample? Xx

16MrsE · 07/07/2017 14:54

I think it's blood test but not sure xxx

Opk

No period or pregnancy symptoms :/??
OP posts:
16MrsE · 07/07/2017 19:52

See pic above: just wondering why I'm still getting strong result on opk? Last one is today's and the top two are from last two days so have faded out. X

OP posts:
TheseAreTheGoodOldDays · 07/07/2017 19:57

I've no idea, have never done OPKs so really don't have any experience. Could you call the doctors for an appointment on Monday and see what they say? X

Writerwannabe83 · 07/07/2017 20:00

As another poster had said we always have LSH in our system so will always have a second line on the OPK of varying strengths although I can totally understand why today's would confuse you in light of what you've gone through this week.

Have you got any more pregnancy tests left? Are you still bleeding?

16MrsE · 07/07/2017 20:11

Doctors never called me back yesterday and today I just wanted to try take my mind of it and spend day with the husband but I'm going to call the Monday for sure as I've read alot like you to go for a scan and check it's all clearing away naturally.

I'm still getting a bleed, old and fresh blood, slightly grainy but not big clots as of yet. I have more of the cheap asda ones I got the negative reading on. X

TheseAreTheGoodOldDays · 07/07/2017 20:11

Ah well what Writer has said there makes a lot of sense :) in light of that, you should maybe step away from the OPKs, they'll only cause you more confusion. I would say leave it a few days, if you still have reason to think you might be pregnant then do another FRER x

16MrsE · 07/07/2017 20:16

I'll have to buy one and use fr instead of asda. Maybe take it before calling doctors Monday x
I've taken opks using periods or before ovulation and if I'm neg I never get second line of any sort. Maybe this is just left over from the pregnancy :'( x

Writerwannabe83 · 07/07/2017 20:23

I think you should perhaps take another pregnancy test and compare it to yesterdays.

If you are getting positives despite the bleeding then yes it's likely they will scan you.

If you are getting negative tests then it's very unlikely they will refer you to be scanned as you are bleeding and therefore likely to be passing your uterine contents as normal.

In some cases there are reasons to suspect that not everything has passed and in those scenarios a doctor would want a scan but I'm not sure they'd jump straight to that in your case.

They may well want to do bloods though and then repeated bloods after 48 hours to check your HCG levels is lowering.

When I was getting my negative tests after my positive ones the doctor said she would only scan me if I hadn't started bleeding after two weeks as this would indicate my body wasn't naturally going to expel the pregnancy, so as you're bleeding already I imagine they'd be happy that nature was taking its course.

I will say though that when I did start bleeding it was instantly like a very heavy period and I was having lots of cramps and pain which doesn't seem to be what you're experiencing.

I can totally see why your head would be all over the place and I think taking another ASDA test or a FRER if that's what you'd prefer and then talking it through with your GP is definitely the right thing to do.

16MrsE · 07/07/2017 20:44

Can I ask what your bleed was like? Sorry it's intimate x definitely my plan for Monday, test and call doctors for advise

Writerwannabe83 · 07/07/2017 20:56

Very red, very fresh and very heavy.

I actually started bleeding the day after I'd seen the GP.

I woke up in the morning and there was blood everywhere.

That's why I was so glad I already knew the pregnancy had failed because if I'd gone to bed believing myself to be pregnant and then woken up to all that blood I would have been petrified.

I was having to change sanitary pads every few hours and like I said, I was having a lot of abdominal pain. I had to get someone else to look after my son for the day because I couldn't manage him with how bad the bleeding and pain was.

I would have been two weeks more pregnant than you were though which may account for why my blood was so heavy but that was just my experience of it.

I've always had really heavy periods so I guess adding in the fact I was miscarrying as well as losing my usual endometrial lining was what made it so horrific.

The bleeding did start to settle after two days and then completely stopped on the fifth day.

16MrsE · 07/07/2017 21:13

Must of been a hard time for you hun :( xxx
My periods are usually heavy too. Im using tampons at the moment and not feeling need to change offen, hard to see just how heavy with tampons :/ x

It was pretty bad as it was over the Mothering Sunday weekend it happened (great timing) and like I said my husband was out the Country so I had nobody I could talk to about it or lean on for support. We hadn't told anyone was pregnant so I had to wait a week for him to come before I could properly let it all out.

But, it seems a long time ago now and things have worked out ok in the end.

When I fell pregnant this time though I was an absolute nervous wreck that the same thing was going to happen again but thankfully it's been smooth sailing.

16MrsE · 07/07/2017 21:47

Your a tough cookie x best wishes for this pregnancy x

How long did it take to get pregnant afterwards?

OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 07/07/2017 21:53

Only 6 weeks until he arrives and so the end is near!!

We waited a few months after my miscarriage before TTC again and then it took about another 8 cycles before I fell pregnant again which was really hard. I was however still breast feeding my other child which I don't think helped and I eventually fell pregnant the first month after stopping breast feeding altogether.

16MrsE · 07/07/2017 22:02

So close, congratulations hun! Xxx
It's a strange theory but I guess it makes sense that your body wasn't prepared to get pregnant whilst providing milk for a child you already had xx

Just wanted to say I hope you've managed to get through the weekend ok and better luck trying to speak to a doctor today Flowers

16MrsE · 10/07/2017 07:57

Thanks hun. The weekend has been tough. Especially last night. My coworker was video calling his daughter who had just given birth and was obviously then talking about it alot which was difficult and upsetting. X
The bleed never got too heavy and no real clots just grainy. Seems to be easing off and is just light and brown since yesterday. :/ do I call doctors? X
