No period or pregnancy symptoms :/??

Since coming off the pill I have had my period bang on time, arriving always on the 3Rd or 4th of each month. Therefore I was expecting my period to come today or yesterday (sat/sun).. Instead since Friday j have had odd bit of brown discharge which I've only noticed from wiping or once using a tampon for a few hours.. I've since been wearing a panty liner and had nothing show up.

I didn't expect to be considering pregnancy this month as I'm the pervious weeks we have been on holiday and avoiding pregnancy via the "pull out" technique. We were told by our nurse before going on holiday to avoid pregnancy until we returned and had a test for the Zika virus.

We hadn't had sex since coming home two weeks ago but haven't had the money to have the test for Zika yet.

Any thoughts on whether this sounds like pregnancy? I haven't really had any other symptoms x

Thanks x

I think brown is better than red? Just older blood around the time AF would be due :) don't lose hope yet, hopefully she won't arrive!

MouseLove · 05/07/2017 08:30

What you described earlier on in the thread brown discharge turning to red sounds like you already had AF to me. Cycles can be very weird, wonderful and irregular after taking a hormonal pill for up to a year. Try not to worry. X

16MrsE · 05/07/2017 08:34

Mouse love: that was my last period where I had brown to red, which turned out to be just an unusual period.. I've ovulated as normal since then.. And now my period is a few days late and I've had the second lines on OPKs and the v v very faint second line on a pregnancy test I took Monday I think it was.

If your period is late you don't really need to use first morning wee.

I had brown/watery discharge in my son's pregnancy and with this one. In fact the day after I got my current BFP I had brown watery blood in my underwear and was convinced it meant something had gone wrong and my period was on its way.

I understand your nerves and worries and doubts etc but stay positive and good luck for when you next test Flowers

16MrsE · 05/07/2017 08:58

Thank you hun... Really hoping it's not bad news and is just old blood as they say and goes away as the day goes on. I want to test all the time but because the second line was so faint Monday I'm scared of doing another one too soon for levels to be up or scared it will be negative and it was all in my head :( x

Writerwannabe83 · 05/07/2017 09:04

Or you could do one and see an even darker line? Grin

The difference between my faint first line on the FRER and the one I took 48 hours later was astonishing!!!

I'm one of those people though who would rather know I wasn't pregnant and not be disappointed at the arrival of my period whereas other women don't test because they prefer to wait for their period to arrive than see a negative test. It's just different approaches I guess.

If you aren't pregnant that won't change whether you test or not and vice versa hence why I never felt scared about taking tests.....the act of me actually doing it has no bearing on whether I was or wasn't pregnant, I just always thought it was something nice to do in the morning because of how much potential happiness it could bring me if there was a second line Grin

I was always an obsessive tester though Grin

16MrsE · 05/07/2017 09:07

I get what you mean hun but I hate the thought of seeing a negative and af arriving. Its so disappointing to think this is just all in my head and I'm seeing/thinking what I want to.. I'm tempted to have a long sleep now I'm home from my night shift and test once I get up? Would that be classed as a "morning pee" x

People say that at this stage in your cycle as long as you haven't urinated in 4 hours then the next time you went your sample would contain enough HCG to be detected.

hashtagcurious · 05/07/2017 09:16

Got everything crossed for you op x

16MrsE · 05/07/2017 09:18

Thank you!

Woke up at 2.. Not pee'd for four and a half hours since this morning, couldn't hold it any longer so just tested at 2.13... It's now 2.20 and the OPK second line is faint and I can. Barely see one on first response :( is it because it's not morning pee? Or am I just not pregnant and the faint lines are just nothing :/

The only thing we know is that on the FRER pregnancy test you took the other day there was a definite second line so when you took that test you were pregnant.

If the line has now disappeared it's possible that you've had a chemical pregnancy where the egg is fertilised and attaches to the womb and starts to release HCG but for some reason it just isn't viable so the pregnancy fails very quickly. This can be due to various reasons including some chromosomal abnormality. It is called a Chemical Pregnancy because if it wasn't for a positive pregnancy test the woman would never have even known she had conceived and gotten pregnant.

I think Chemical Pregnancies can be quite common and a lot of women report having faint but definitely positive pregnancy tests to them then turning negative within a few days and then their period arriving.

If your period is late but you are now not seeing the second line then it may mean this is what's happened.

On the other hand your levels may not just be rising very quickly.

Some brands of tests are renowned for giving fake positives but the FRERS don't have that reputation and are generally very reliable so that second line that appeared a few days ago was very unlikely to be a false positive result.

Can you post a photo of the test you've just taken?

Writerwannabe83 · 05/07/2017 14:41

Just seen you've posted the photos Smile

Yes today's test is lighter but there's definitely still a second line.

It may be a case of just having to wait a few more days and test again. It may just be because it's not FMU.

Please try not to fret though and stay focused on the positive result Flowers

16MrsE · 05/07/2017 14:44

This is the pregnancy test and OPK from just now.

:'( really gutted if it isn't a successful pregnancy.. What do if it is a chemical pregnancy? :(

No period or pregnancy symptoms :/??
OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 05/07/2017 14:46

If it is a Chemical pregnancy you will just find your period starts as normal in a few days time. There's nothing you have to 'do' as such.

What form of contraception were you using prior to TTC?

16MrsE · 05/07/2017 14:52

We've been trying for 7 months now. Beforehand I was on the mini pill but since coming off my periods have been bang on time each month, ovulation has been the same etc except last months came on time but was different to usual but still I ovulated around same date so was expecting period 2/3 July as usual :(

OP posts:
Writerwannabe83 · 05/07/2017 14:58

At the moment there is HCG in your urine so you either are pregnant or you were pregnant.

The outcome is either that the pregnancy will be successful and your second line will get darker or that the pregnancy has failed and your period will arrive in a few days time.

It's really shitty OP when there's no definitive answer and it's just a case of waiting it out.

It took me 10 months to conceive my current pregnancy so I know how disheartening it can be when it seems to be taking so long. I had gotten pregnant on our first cycle of trying but I miscarried just under 3 weeks after my initial BFP. It's really crappy.

I really hope there's a positive outcome to this and please don't think the worst just yet Flowers

16MrsE · 05/07/2017 15:05

When should I test again? I only have a clear blue digital now but haven't been using it as the lines are so faint.. :(

OP posts:
16MrsE · 05/07/2017 15:06

Ps. I'm sorry to hear of your miscarriage :'( but also congratulations on the current pregnancy hun xx

Writerwannabe83 · 05/07/2017 15:07

If i were you I would just get some cheap ones, I bought ASDA's own for about £4 I think (pack of two) and try again in the morning. I wouldn't pay out for another FRER or use the CB unless you felt the lines were getting darker.

16MrsE · 05/07/2017 15:11

OK I may do that then. Going to be a long wait until Morning :( I was hoping to see a clear positive today so I could tell the Husband tomorrow.. Now I don't know what to do :'( x

I would still tell him what's been happening as you're obviously feeling a bit low and upset so you should talk to him. He can give you some moral support on Monday and if there's a nice line you can celebrate together but if not at least you won't have to put a brave face on and pretend everything is ok.

Remember though that even if this does turn out to be a Chemical Pregnancy at least it shows that you can get pregnant and find comfort in that if you can Flowers
