Fred rules (copied and adapted from previous Fred)

  1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
  2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
  3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
  4. Thou shalt share with your fredmates where needed.
  5. Thou shalt not be offended by the word vagina.

JSing lingo

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others. Also known as 'the witch', 'bitch witch' and 'that one with the red shiny convertible'

Viroid = This is you, dear poster. This is from the first JS thread when someone tried to type 'ladies' and it autocorrected to 'Viroids' - so there you go!

Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.

Doing a Kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce envy in other posters).

POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit), or PIATLH (Tea light holder), PIAWG (Wine glass) or anything else you care to pee in! PONF = Pee on Nigel Farage (Self explanatory)

ROC = Receptacle of Choice - what one chooses to use for the task of POAS. Optional decorations include photographs of controversial political leaders.

JIAC = Jizz in a Cup. Preferable to jizz on the carpet or jizz in the eye. This one's for the lucky men in our lives.

Jizz in a bra = how we transport the jizz to the Sperm Queen

Shagging like something = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.

Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into TTC obsession. Warning - this may happen to you if you start trying to POAS at 5dpo. PUT. THE. PISSY. STICK. DOWN. IT'S TOO EARLY!

Contraband (or Cuntraband) = Of COURSE none of us EVER partake of any silly OPKs or temp charting. They are Contraband.

Icing = ovulating. Another autocorrect development!

Getting your Cape on = planning some serious pouncing on DH/DP

SOTM = Shagger of the Month. Awarded with varying regularity to those viroids who go above and beyond EOD shagging in pursuit of that BFP

TWOT - Two Weeks of Torture. AKA Schroedingering!
TWPU - Two Week Piss Up!

Keeping your gingers = fingers crossed, yet another autocorrect development! Shortened to 'gx'

Doing a Lemon = Testing WAAAAAAAY to early!

Miroid - The male compadre of a viroid

Cat - Compulsory

Skittletits - Killer molten painful tits and nipples

Ghost jizz/goat jazz - When the amazing foof sucks up all the jizz - achieved when coming at the same time/nearly the same time.

Hi Blue! You sound a lot like me - I fretted long and hard about whether this was something I actually wanted (so did hubs) but once we decided the answer was yes I'm suddenly obsessed! Also was convinced I was preggo first month and then gutted to see AF. Bit more chilled now and am actually convinced this time that I'm not... We'll see. Good luck!

Elbi · 06/07/2017 20:33

writes down dark chocolate and bananas

BlueSky1980 · 06/07/2017 21:20

Hi Elbi, yep you definitely sound exactly the same as me. Ridiculous that I've spent 20 years desperately doing everything I can NOT to get pregnant - now I'm suddenly doing everything I can to get those buggers to swim upwards & get stuck in!.. I've even been doing 'legs in the air' after. Good luck (& don't quote me about the dark chocolate & bananas - that was all DH's research not mine 😝) Fingers crossed for you!

lg93 · 06/07/2017 21:40

Hello everyone - please can I join you all?! New to MN and to ttc and determined not to get fixated on it! Hubby and I have been married nearly a year and now honeymoon, final exams for my degree are both out the way I ran out of excuses to put it off (I think one of you said you were honeymooning to safari/Mauritius which is what we did funnily enough!)

Hubby is 32, I'm only 24 but suffer with PCOS so may take me a while! Had my mirena coil removed 20th June and currently coming to the end of AF so looking forward to seeing what happens. No idea how long cycle is so will be a bit of a guessing game to start with. When I was a teenager they were around 50-55 days I think but I've not had a cycle without hormone contraceptive control since I was 16 so who knows!

Looking forward to getting to know you all!!

stumblymonkeyagain · 06/07/2017 23:13

Hi ig!

That was me re: honeymoon. Although those plans may change since, as things stand, I could have a 6 week old baby when the honeymoon has been booked for Shock

BlueSky1980 · 07/07/2017 08:49

Hi ig93, good luck & enjoy the ride (literally).

Congratulations stumblymonkeyagain fingers crossed for a sticky one (even if it does change your honeymoon & wedding plans!!)

lg93 · 07/07/2017 08:58

Wow congratulations stumbly monkey!! I hope you have a brill pregnancy and that you can enjoy your honeymoon when LO is a bit older!

Thanks blue - trying to shift some weight to lessen the pcos and improve my chances... weighed this morning and another 4lbs gone. That's 10lbs in a month so quite pleased with myself!

stumblymonkeyagain · 07/07/2017 12:18

Yes, just a shame that we lose the £2k deposit plus £700 deposit on my dress! Sad

Oh well...it's only money and more important that pregnancy/baby is healthy but a bit of a bummer...

justtheonethen · 07/07/2017 12:52

stumbly claim on insurance? Wedding insurance?

teaandshortbread · 07/07/2017 13:10

I would like to join this thread Grin it seems a lot more fun!! My mind is bamboozled with ttc and feeling rubbish...!

Elbi · 07/07/2017 16:47

Ah more newbies Smile I feel quite the old hand now...

Am currently 12dpo and wondering whether to test. Should prob just save the money and wait for AF to no doubt turn up!

stumblymonkeyagain · 07/07/2017 19:29

I tested again today....both tests have fairly faint lines, should I be worried about that?

They are cheap tests from Tesco, maybe I should take a clear blue?

Top is Weds (when AF was due), bottom is today...

coribeth · 07/07/2017 22:42

Congrats stumbly they look ok to me! So try not to worry (easier said than done!)

BlueSky1980 · 07/07/2017 23:53

stumbly - don't panic my clear blue pack instructions said any line on the positive indicator - however faint it is - is a positive - so I'm sure that's fine (no personal experience to back that up though sorry! Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

NovaArt3mis · 08/07/2017 07:29

Hi blue, lg and tea!

stumbly they both look fine. A line is a line and today you are pregnant! If you're set on retesting I'd try to get a First Response in the pink boxes. Sometimes on offer in Asda. I've always (well twice) had nice clear lines on them.

justtheonethen · 08/07/2017 07:38

I used Tesco ones and had fairly faint lines even when the cb digi said 2-3 weeks. If you test again I suggest a cb digi weeks or a frer. Or wait a few days and try another Tesco.

Or just stop now, I have forced myself to!

choochooo · 08/07/2017 10:27

Hi all

I'm back sadly - miscarrying at 7 weeks. 3rd miscarriage this year (4th if you count chemical pregnancy in Jan).

Scan in Wednesday after some spotting at 7 weeks showed twin gestational sacs with yolk sacs. Was hoping baby or babies might appear before rescan on wed coming but the cramping and bleeding started yesterday and I think it's game over. I'm so over this 😞.

So here I am back again. Welcome to the newbies. I've been on here since 2013 (can you believe that?!) and it's a lovely supportive group.

Name: Choo (formerly known as La)
Age: 37
DC: DS nearly 2 (eek!) conceived after taking vitamin b complex for short luteal phase following 18 months unsuccessfully ttc.
2 cats (very important detail)
Ttc no 2 now since May 2016 so 14 months.

Recurrent miscarriage clinic appointment on Monday to discuss the process.

FML

choochooo · 08/07/2017 10:29

Stumbly a line is a line and today you are upduffed! But do ditch the blue tests they are poo. So less sensitive than pink dye.

NovaArt3mis · 08/07/2017 10:36

So sorry to see you back here choo, it's so unfair. Wish you weren't having to go through this. Let us know how you get on at the clinic.

Squidge123456 · 08/07/2017 18:35

So sorry choo that is really shitty and unfair.

Unbelievable timing stumbly! How about bringing the honeymoon forward, is that an option?!

AF is 4 days overdue here and even though I totally know I'm not UTD (feel completely normal) I still took a test and was mega disappointed when it was negative! Last month AF was 7 days late so I think my body is just messed up post MC.

Elbi · 08/07/2017 18:55

Choo Sad That's utter shit. I'm so sorry. Hope you can get some help at your appointment.

FuzzyOwl · 08/07/2017 20:47

Sorry to hear that user and hopefully it's not long for you.

Oh Choo/La that is totally shit! I really hope the clinic can find something straightforward to treat to be the problem so this is the last miscarriage you experience. Give your cats a big cuddle - having just had a mc of my own, I find they have helped enormously. Thinking of you.

lg93 · 09/07/2017 15:45

@choo really sorry to hear your sad news - I hope your appointment is useful.

Have had nausea yesterday and really bad lower abdomen pains today. Had put them down to having an intensive riding lesson with my horse yesterday and pulling something (which it could still be!) but also just realised I'm day 15 today and that actually I could be ovulating... my pcos means that previous cycles were closer to 55 days than 28, but they're treating that with metformin so it's possible it's done it's job. Having to stop myself from running out to get ovulation kits (not even sure if they'd work post ov anyway?!) and just wait and see what happens over the next few weeks.

I don't know why I'm getting my hopes up, it's probably just a pulled muscle! I just know that for me the first challenge in ttc is to get my hormones to do what they need to do when they need to do it, so if ive actually ovulated at the normal time that's a good start!

Must. Not. Buy. Ovulation. Kits. Blush

FuzzyOwl · 10/07/2017 16:13

How did it go at the clinic, Choo

Ig93 I really suffer badly with ovulation pains, especially if I ovulate from my left side. Strangely enough I have only ever conceived from my right side, which may or may not be a coincidence. Anyway I don't know where I got the idea from but I am not sure whether OPKs are considered to be reliable if you have PCOS but even if they do, I'm afraid they only give you advance warning of ovulation (usually 12 to 48 hours). Some women don't find them reliable or like them but three of my four pregnancies have been conceived by having sex just once in the month and on a positive OPK day (the other one was when I had sex several times in the week of the positive OPK) so I only have good things to say about them. These days though I have figured out my body enough to know when I will ovulate and not need them. GX it isn't a pulled muscle!

BlueSky1980 · 10/07/2017 17:52

Hello Choo, I am so sorry to read that. Life can be total crap sometimes. I hope the clinic can be helpful & I hope you have some good support. Make sure you look after yourself Flowers
