Thread 28, TTC #1 | We may be hormonal giraffes but we don't eat no low fat humous

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Welcome pie, I know exactly how you feel about being in it for the long haul! I can absolutely assure you that I don't think any of us are fresh and/or excitable about TTC anymore so you've found a good home here! And welcome back Willow. I'm sorry that you've had to find us again.

Ugh Binky, some people can be so insensitive. Well done on your healthy week though! I was feeling pretty good until yesterday when I basically spent all day sat on the sofa eating chocolate.

Also, I've been so inspired by you all that I've booked my first session of therapy for next week. It's not really TTC related (although imagine that will feature). I'm bloody terrified about it and think I'm going to find it really hard because I'm very good at pretending that everything's okay and appearing absolutely fine on the surface but I'm hoping it will be useful!

AlexiaB · 02/05/2017 10:33

skipper for CM - drink 1-2 glasses of grapefruit juice daily until O and use PreSeed.
For womb lining - drink 3 cups of raspberry leaf tea daily until O or take it in tablet form if you hate tea (like me). I also drunk a large glass of pomegranate juice daily. It's quite pricey though!

Ugh Binky how insensitive is that!? I wish people knew how hurtful / stressful it is to keep asking. Your SIL's comment was uncalled for too pyjamas. Like you need to be reminded!

Welcome Pie. I agree with the girls, I don't think anyone here is still excited by this process. I'm cycle 24 and bored bored bored.

Hope the therapy sessions go well Kathrino. Well done for taking the first step.

Welcome back Willow

sk1pper · 02/05/2017 10:51

Thanks hon xx better take a trip into town today!!

florafoxtrot · 02/05/2017 11:13

Your SIL said what PJs?! Assuming you chucked the glass over her aye? How fucking rude!!
Hi Pie! That's me hitting Cycle11 too after AF showed up on Sunday. Things are good around here.
Alexia I drank Raspberry leaf tea last month and AF is currently horrific - very painful and heavy. Could there be a correlation or am I just being an overly sensitive Sally?
Well done on the therapy Katharino I've been previously and hubby is keen for me to go back (and a friend thinks it's a good idea too) but for some reason I'm just not keen at the moment. It helped last time but I'm also just sick of talking about TTC!

sk1pper · 02/05/2017 11:24

Fox - its actually supposed to help chronic period pain though I only drink it up to ovulation anyway as there's a bit of a debate whether pregnant women should drink it or not.

sk1pper · 02/05/2017 11:25

Also, fish oil has helped me massively with chronic pain. Started taking vitamin B supplements last cycle and I had no pain whatsoever....not sure if coincidence or correlation.

Pyjamas81 · 02/05/2017 12:09

I would've flora if I hadn't wanted to down it!

Well done booking your first therapy session kath - I'm a huge fan of therapy. Really hope it helps.

AlexiaB · 02/05/2017 12:18

Flora it's actually meant to help as skip said but maybe it was just having a big clear out and you'll see the benefits next AF? (I obviously hope she doesn't show up of course!)

skipper 600mg of vitamin E is meant to be good for lining too. I'm going to add that if there's a next cycle.

Flashinthepan · 02/05/2017 12:19

Binky and PJ I think we need to come up with a withering retort for anyone who needlessly comments on our fertility!

Alexia I have done a bit of online research, as well as reading the leaftlet in the pack, and am not 100 per cent happy about taking them without a bit more information. As the gynaecologist prescribed them to sort the spotting, rather than because he thinks the spotting is preventing me conceiving, I think I might give it a couple more cycles on the B vits, and with increased GOS (have managed CD9 and CD11 so far), and see how it goes.

It's strange, as despite the gynae saying everything looked great, I sortof see that as even more of a 'this is never going to happen'. I just can't seem to really believe I will get pregnant. Still, at least I know I can get referred to the fertility clinic in 6 months if nothing has happened.

AlexiaB · 02/05/2017 12:23

Warning don't read if you don't want to hear about pregnancy / births.

Marmite had a baby girl on the 26th April. The first baby of the 2nd wave Grad's! LovelyFishy and Moose are up next (due in a month or less).

Good luck girls if you're reading!

AlexiaB · 02/05/2017 12:26

Flash what did you read that made you feel uncomfortable? Well at least you have them so if this cycle isn't a success you can always use them later. Let's hope you won't need the fertility clinic in 6 months!

Kathrino · 02/05/2017 12:28

Flash, that sounds like a sensible approach particularly if you're not happy about taking them

Alexia, thank you for sharing the news about Marmite. How exciting and big congrats to the Marmite family.

Thanks for the support too guys. Like you, flora, I don't really want to talk about TTC at all at the moment (feel like I do enough of that here!) and this is far more about getting in the right headspace for future treatment than anything else at the moment. Let's see though, I might chicken out before next Tuesday!

Flashinthepan · 02/05/2017 12:53

Alexia well it says in leaflet not to take if you are pregnant, or trying to become pregnant. Now the Dr knows I am TTC and wanted to continue TTC so I assume he took this into account, but I'm thinking if I don't have low progesterone, then I don't need them, and if I do, and then stop taking them at 10DPO, am I risking early miscarriage? Or even just the disruption in hormones could potentially disturb something. I guess I'm afraid that the month I take them could be the month I conceive, and I might cause something to go wrong! Paranoia I know.

Lovely news from the grads thread, FX we'll all be joining soon!

AlexiaB · 02/05/2017 13:07

Flash that's so weird it says that Confused It's progesterone suppositories, right? One of main hormones needed to sustain a pregnancy? Bizarre. I don't see you causing yourself any harm (more benefit really!) taking it from confirmed 2dpo until 14dpo but you do what you're comfortable with hon. It's your body!

WingingIt83 · 02/05/2017 13:17

Welcome to the newbies, you'll find a lot of us are 10 plussers here, so much less of the "I only stopped taking the pill last week and now I'm pregnant" crowd.

Anyone know if there is anything negative about having a very short window between LH surge and ovulation?

I opkd with strong line sat night (but not what id deem quite positive) which then built up and during Sunday I think was strongest in the afternoon. Around this time I also had some left sided pain.
By Monday morning my temp had already jumped massively.
So either my surge had already started over night Saturday and the Sunday tests were just residually strong, or I ovulated 10-12 hours later. ..... also had ewcm Monday and a smidge this morning? ?

Dtd Fri night and Sun night and that's it, DH's back was buggered so that was all he could manage.

sk1pper · 02/05/2017 13:18

I remember Moose getting her BFP...I think that's when I first joined the thread. Time really does fly!

Thanks Alexia - I've been out and stocked up!! I'm already on vitamin E, I forget why 😂 But I did forget to stop taking it during my period so my period is pretty much over in 2 days this cycle. (TMI - three pairs of trousers wrecked by not getting to the loo on time.)

Flashinthepan · 02/05/2017 13:20

They're oral tablets rather than suppositories, so I'm not sure if it's the same form of synthetic progesterone. I think I would feel better taking them if I kept them up until confirmed negative HPT, even though that's not what doc suggested. So perhaps that is the compromise, take them for the full LP, until BFN/BFP and then go from there.

No expert Winging but as far as I know a short surge is pretty common. The only month I did OPKs, I only ever got one positive, the next day they were pretty much stark white again. Age seems to influence it, so younger women likely to have shorter surges. Someone please come and correct if I've got it wrong here!

Flashinthepan · 02/05/2017 13:22

Oh skipper you have all my sympthay re flooding. When I was a teenager, I flooded through a super tampon, night time pad, pants, tights, leotard and jeans, all in a one hour dance lesson! I had to leave in the end as it just wouldn't stop.

WingingIt83 · 02/05/2017 13:37

Glad it's not just me who still gets caught out! Mine have definitely got heavier in last 6 months which I've put down to all the supplements.

AlexiaB · 02/05/2017 13:37

skipper it really does fly by when you're TTC and not pregnant. All the August babies (remember loads of bfps in Nov?) will start arriving in about 3 months! Vit E is for lining, it's antioxidant and for cell regrowth etc. I should have googled lol. 3 trousers Shock ughh

Flash that sounds like a good compromise. In that case you'd be taking roughly 12 pills which isn't far off 10. It just gives you an extra day or 2 for reassurance.

Winging I don't think there's anything wrong with it (that I know of anyway). I see many people with a temp rise the morning after a positive opk. Personally mine is always 2 days after but I think apart from having less time to HS it's normal. I think your GOS is fine too👍

AlexiaB · 02/05/2017 13:38

Oops ignore that pic! I attached it but then realised you weren't on about quick opk surges but quick ovulation afterwards.

HepKestrel · 02/05/2017 13:45

My lovely colleague and friend is finally spilling the beans about her pregnancy at work and there are lots of excited conversations going on by my desk. I've plugged in my earphones and ordered clomid online. Ugh 😞
