Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Key:
HS - have/had sex
GOS - good old shag
ELH - enthusiastic lavatory happenings
LSFX - legs spread, fingers crossed

Hello ladies! I joined a few threads back but was getting a little too obsessive and driving DH mad as well as myself so left. I have quietly been following throughout April though and would love to rejoin if you'll have me 😊
I'm 28. Cycle 11. Cd9. Trying but not hard enough. DH has low sex drive so it can be a struggle but I'm much more positive and know that it will happen for us one day in the near future. Just as it will do for all of you : )

Tommygirl10 · 30/04/2017 13:12

Can I ask, do you all have a 'regular' 28 day cycle? After being on the pill for 11 years and off for 1, my cycles have been all over the place. I took AC for two cycles up to ovulation (cycles 8&9) and cycle 10 completely natural was 31 days (shortest yet). I'm hoping they stay this way now as it's been hard to pinpoint ovulation as well as get DH to dtd 🙈

MissyJones80s · 30/04/2017 13:34

tommy no we don't have regular 28 cycle. I used to be 28 with ov on cd14 before pill but also after being on pill for 10 years my cycles have been unpredictable which was to be expected I think at first, they seem to now be settling down into a 26 day cycle but I am still ovulating way too late. I've only been ttc for 8 months but hoping my ovulation day improves.

sk1pper · 30/04/2017 13:39

I know Jam xx your PMA was awesome and inspiring so here's mine...

  • Cycles have shifted so as long as the next two cycles are on time, I will finish my period just before my wedding day and honeymoon
  • No chronic period pain (though I did take some Paramol before I got up just to be sure.
  • Spotting was red rather than brown this cycle, seems healthier.
  • taking Clomid for the first time tomorrow, hope I can report good things to those thinking of investing in it.
QuietTime · 30/04/2017 13:55

skipper so sorry AF came, but great PMA - hope the pain stays away/is manageable & got everything crossed for Clomid helping xx

pyjamas really hoping things start to improve with OH - good for you being proactive on the therapist front; you always sound so chipper, am so impressed

Hi Tommy!y didn't take the pill, but even then my cycle's changed a bit over last year or so - used to be longer, now seems to vary btw 23 & 27 days Hmm

Was being a tightwad and trying to rely on normal digital thermometer for for temping - went up day after I think I ovulated, but sort of back down to original... know it's not v accurate, though, so will bite the bullet and get proper one - how tedious. What brand have others used? Assuming ovulated, in TWW now...

QuietTime · 30/04/2017 14:01

Missy what a bugger with DH's travel - how frustrating...am assuming there's no flexibility? Grrr Flowers

winging hope you get some answers soon - fx they can bring the next appt forward, must be hard to feel like there's such a long wait ahead

Hope the long weekend is treating everyone well xx

sk1pper · 30/04/2017 14:14

Quiet - this is the one I bought for when I was temping, I thought it was good:Basal Body Thermometer- BBT-113 by iProvèn - ACCURATE 1/100th Degree, Highly SENSITIVE, Perfect Companion for OVULATION CALCULATOR. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B015WKODDM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_HlEbzbMR0TSCY?tag=mumsnetforum-21

AlexiaB · 30/04/2017 14:36

skipper it feels so endless doesn't it?
Cycle 22 sucks when some fall pregnant Cycle 2 ffs, that's how I felt anyway. Glad your pain isn't too bad this time. I'm pleased it looks like AF won't spoil your wedding or honeymoon 🤞🏼

Pug good luck with the new job opportunity, really hope you get it! Glad you've ordered Clomid too. Let us know how you get on.

Welcome Tommy - I don't think many people have a perfect 28 day cycle! A 31 day cycle is absolutely fine; knowing when you O to time sex and your LP length are the most important things. Try OPKs or temping if you want more clarity. We can help / advise you if needed.

Sounds like you have loads of great things booked Pyjamas 👍 Sorry DH is in a mood again, it's not fair on you.

Winging sorry things seem to be going at a snail's pace. Hope you can get a cancellation when you're ready.

Quiet this is the one I use. It's cheap and does the job -

Sorry you're having a tough time Flora Flowers

Missy that sucks about maybe missing FW again Sad

I'm 7dpo today and it's dragging! Just want to know already.

AlexiaB · 30/04/2017 15:01

Flash I'm wondering why he said to only take it for 10 days per cycle? Did he specify which days? I know most people start the day after O or at least within 3 days of O. They then don't stop taking it until they've had bloods (standard on medicated cycles) or if they test negative with a hpt at 14dpo.

Also just a warning (in case you don't know already) your BBT chart after O is likely to be triphasic / beautiful because of the progesterone supps. So I wouldn't take them too seriously, it's just a great tool to confirm ovulation.

Londonjam · 30/04/2017 15:08

Argh I feel for you missy it's so frustrating missing ovulation

Welcome back tommy my cycle is usually 29 days but can be from 26-32 on occasion. I think some fluctuation is normal. Are you using OPKs to help pinpoint ovulation?

Skipper those are all good points especially clomid, that's an exciting new step / tactic

Hey ladies! Welcome to the new people :)

I am CD27, realised my period is due Tues/Wed rather than tomorrow now (how do I still get confused about that after two years?!). Going on hols tomorrow in Italy so I'm going to be drinking cocktails and trying to relax as I took a test this morning to double check and it was negative so shrug.

Has anyone read this article - www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/jun/06/young-infertile-four-years-forty-negative-tests-ivf

florafoxtrot · 30/04/2017 17:46

Sorry Skipper I'm joining you on CD1, pain not too bad and I'm coping ok, think I got out all my anger and frustration on Friday when I knew she was coming. Here are my positives:

Cycles are totally regular and I'm lucky to have that.
A January baby in snowy Scotland had the potential to be a bit grim!
We've now been to Docs and are in the system so are being proactive about next steps.
Welcome Tommy - know what you mean about getting obsessive. It's easily done.

Hope things are ok with hubby PJs just echoing the other comments about your attitude.

Thinking of trying all this "relaxing" bollocks stuff this month and no tracking... just trying to dtd every 2/3 nights and no pressure.

sk1pper · 30/04/2017 17:48

That article made me cry Kerry - it speaks to me on so many levels. Im glad there was a happy ending for the couple.

sk1pper · 30/04/2017 17:49

Sorry Fox - what's your average cycle length? We might be cycle buddies now :)

AlexiaB · 30/04/2017 17:52

Sorry about the BFN Kerry Sad Flowers That article made me emotional too. Glad it worked for them first time and they have 6 frozen embies which is a lot!

Sorry AF got you Flora, great PMA though!

Kathrino · 30/04/2017 17:56

Sorry about your BFN Kerry but I hope you have a lovely holiday. Sorry for you too flora Flowers

Welcome Tommy, my doc wasn't the least bit concerned that my cycles range for 26 days to 46 days and anywhere in between. I have a standard 14 day LP so it just seems like ovulation for me tends to be impacted by external factors.

KerryLeanne84 · 30/04/2017 17:59

Thanks ladies - I cried too - and at the comments too. Lots of people saying this was them except they never got the baby in the end, and they wish the media would tell their stories too. Star

LisaSimpsonsbff · 30/04/2017 18:31

Sorry to those with AF/BFNs Flowers

Feeling a bit low today. Went to a wedding last night and had a few drinks for the first time in ages (I completely gave up drinking after I lost the first pregnancy, but have been trying to be more relaxed after it made no difference the second time). Had an ok night, but feel sad and a bit anxious today. I also think I'm going to ovulate annoyingly late - cd15 and still no flashy face. I've checked on my charts and I've had either a flashy or a smiley face every other cycle by now. It's particularly annoying because I'm on a work trip from the 5th or, as I apparently measure time now, cd20 so if I don't ovulate by then that'll be that for this month.

KerryLeanne84 · 30/04/2017 19:29

Big hugs Lisa - that really sucks. Just have sex before you go and hope for the best - try not to worry about it too much since you can't control your work trip. xx

florafoxtrot · 30/04/2017 20:16

Skipper I'm pretty much 28 days on the money but my LP seems to change which is obviously a bit of a concern but I do confirm ovulation with bbt so can't think that I'm not ovulating if that makes sense. Blood tests this month to confirm anyway.
Sorry LisaBFF - the alcohol fear is not good when TTC but if you had a good night then hopefully that'll have relaxed you. Hope you manage to get a GOS before you go for your work trip.
Thanks Alexia I think the AF positives is a good idea as guess that we all need to just keep looking forward xx

KerryLeanne84 · 30/04/2017 20:22

How are you doing Alexia?

AlexiaB · 30/04/2017 20:52

Awh thanks for asking Kerry Smile I'm doing alright; 7dpo and not got any symptoms to note. Not much to see on my chart yet either. Would bloody love a BFP (as we all would!) so I can finally be happy and freed from this endless hell.

Rooting for you Alexia 💐

QuietTime · 30/04/2017 23:32

Sorry Lisa; totally understand the anxiety, hope you have a better night and get that smiley face soon

Kerry thanks for the link - was a very bittersweet article, nice to have some balance & perspective re TTC

Saw a FB message of friend who's just had baby girl to join her son...felt a bit green-eyed monster about it for a moment, but trying to think of all the things I'm lucky to have & too early to mope about TTC

thanks v much for thermometer tips skipper & Alexia, much appreciated!

Night all, x
