Does anyone else use there heart rate monitor on there Fitbit to monitor when they have ovulated? Saw a post on here recently where someone was but can't find it now. Been reading up on it thought it would be interesting to see how many of you guys did?

@Bambino90 I'm afraid can't get excited over yours yet as it's no higher than your previous RHR...

BabyKangaroo90 · 19/09/2017 07:41

Juneau ahhh I see what you mean but just trying to figure out when I ovulated at the mo Smile

juneybean · 19/09/2017 08:35

Oh sorry! Looking at your sticks I can't see a positive but they're not a brand I'm familiar with.

Also some people seem to rise before ovulation and some after. I've done both Hmm stupid body haha

micropig · 19/09/2017 10:03

Bought two "early" tests today that you can use three days before due period. Period is due today and I stupidly went and did one anyway (not FMU either), of course it was negative. Will wait a few days to do the other one.

I am in a super grumpy mood now and feeling like I'm never gonna get pregnant lol. Poor DH. Just got my hopes up as I've felt so weird these last few days.

If my cycle has suddenly changed to be 40 days instead of the previous consistent 35 days, I will be gutted!

intelligentPutty · 19/09/2017 13:17

Ah @micropig That's crappy. Hate the bfn ;(

micropig · 20/09/2017 12:55

As expected, AF arrived today. Don't think I'll have much luck next month as I'll be away from DH most of it, might have to spend most of November in bed Grin

Glow now predicts my ovulation window for this cycle is the only week I am alone with DH this entire cycle. I know what we'll be doing! I really have no idea when I ovulate in my cycle though. Hopefully Fitbit can help me find out.

juneybean · 20/09/2017 13:37

@micropig sorry to hear AF got you.

If you count 14 days from yesterday when was that? Just trying to work out if your heart rate does what mine used to (goes up the day/day after ovulation) which I'd was about 6th Sept ish?

micropig · 20/09/2017 15:14

14 days from yesterday is the first dot on the second flat line bit on that chart. My cycle was 36 days this time though, so might be different. Its usually 35 days.

Got myself a digital thermometer today and I think I'm gonna start recording my BBT (DH is going to think I'm going mental about this). Id like to know when I actually ovulate. I would happily DTD every day to be honest but DH has a lower drive than me and is often tired from work so it would be good if I could narrow down the sex marathon to a few days rather than a full week or two lol.

juneybean · 20/09/2017 18:02

Have you got a BBT thermometer? You need one that is to two decimal points for temping in my opinion! But I've found temping very helpful!

micropig · 21/09/2017 09:32

It's just one decimal point but will do for now, thanks for the advice. I love data (I'm a nerd) so I'm quite excited about this in a way. I have to admit I thought it involved getting intimate with a thermometer so was very relieved to be able to do it orally. The Fitbit vibrates an alarm at the same time every morning so I can do the temp as soon as the alarm goes off. Perfect!

I am such a data geek. I was irritated that all the apps for this kind of thing require a big payment if you want to see your trends (fair enough but I imagine as they sell the data anyway they don't need the extra!) so I have input all the info into a spreadsheet and made a graph from that which will show my BBT, RHR, menstruation and expected ovulation, so that I can figure out when in my cycle I actually ovulate. I'll just do it for a couple months to get a rough idea, although hopefully by the time I figure it out I'll get a BFP. Would be awesome if we all got them by the end of the year!

juneybean · 21/09/2017 10:33

That's exactly what I do @micropig with my silent alarm!

I really like Fertility Friend, I am used to it, but a spreadsheet seems like it'll work just as well!

I do get intimate with the thermometer as I'm a mouth breather so my temps were all over the place!

Do you think ones heart rate would increase from the point of implantation? Mines so low today and I had hoped I'd have implanted by now :/

micropig · 21/09/2017 12:58

Juney couldn't even guess at that sorry, have you looked back on here to see the charts if anyone who has conceived? I wonder if there's any correlation.

I'm feeling okay about things today because I feel like at least I'm taking action in a way. Hope it works. I'm feeling very motivated today actually (Fitbit would disagree...).

intelligentPutty · 21/09/2017 17:08

Hey @micropig
Sorry to hear about af.
Sounds like you have a plan.
I started a spreadsheet last month. Also a geek in that respect!! Put last 3 months of data in. I think I'll try to correlate the ovulation with you ladies as well.
I'm using opks rather than temping. Do you think temping is better?

juneybean · 21/09/2017 17:40

@intelligentPutty I would use both to be honest!

intelligentPutty · 21/09/2017 19:46

Oh Shock really. I suppose I've seen that you should use all methods. I just thought opk was a pretty definite idea of when to dtd in earnest..
Just can't get my head around how to do it. You have to stay in bed right. And then just temp before u even move?

juneybean · 21/09/2017 21:06

OPK tell you when you're about to ovulate, temping only tells you after you've ovulated.

I hate OPKing to be honest but I still try...

Yeah literally as soon as you wake up, shove it in your mouth or foof and record the result!

IJustGotHitByADeer · 21/09/2017 21:25

Do I need to POAS? I only got my Fitbit on August 28th so not much data to go on but it seems my resting heart rate was very elevated around that time. Came off the pill 3 months ago and haven’t had a bleed since so I guess it could mean something? POAS last week and it was negative

Getting my hopes up, especially as I’ve just thrown up (but that happens with my IBS sometimes so probably nothing).

If you take temp in your mouth, put it under your tongue and shut your mouth so your breath doesn't affect it. Well that's what Wikihow told me to do lol.

micropig · 21/09/2017 21:28

Ijust when was AF due? If late then I'd POAS. Can't speak for your chart as I don't know what's normal for you and I'm new to this sorry!

IJustGotHitByADeer · 21/09/2017 21:33

@micropig I was on a type of pill that stopped my periods and I haven’t had one since I came off it, so until she finally arrives, when AF is ‘due’ is anyone’s guess really Grin

micropig · 21/09/2017 22:29

Well from what I've seen, a big dip in RHR happens during AF, so I wonder if your big dip there is where AF should be.

IJustGotHitByADeer · 21/09/2017 22:31

Think I’ll POAS in the morning just in case. Was trying to refrain as the BFNs always upset me but it’s worth checking I guess

HolyShmoly · 22/09/2017 20:28

Well I'm a bit confused with mine. I've started exercising a few times a week since the 9th, so I'm guessing that's why my bpm is so elevated. But normally I have a double dip to ovulation and I've only had one this month. I don't know if that's a good thing, or if I haven't actually ovulated or what.
I did do a couple OPKs last weekend which seems to show that it was coming up, and there was nothing doing on Tuesday when I tested again. Although I don't have the best of luck with them in general.

Anyway, all this to say... thoughts?

Fitbit & TTC
micropig · 22/09/2017 23:11

It still has a dip like the others do so you may have still ovulated when expected. That's really interesting that it's so high this time though, sorry that I can't suggest any reason why it would do that, I really have no idea.

Well done on the regular jogs! I've been attempting to do that but I always find an excuse not to. There's someone always ahead of me on the Fitbit leaderboard though so I might have to start jogging to beat them! Grin
