Does anyone else use there heart rate monitor on there Fitbit to monitor when they have ovulated? Saw a post on here recently where someone was but can't find it now. Been reading up on it thought it would be interesting to see how many of you guys did?

Cool graph micropig! :-) I don't think your hr after ovulation looks too different though? As you say, might take a few months to work out what's normal for you though.

I ovulated on the 31st Aug and this is my HR since then, it's the highest HR I've had since I got my Fitbit in Jan. Trying not to read into it very much since my bfn this morning though.

Realised I already posted this graph - D'oh. Must stop obsessing over graphs and get some work done now lol :-)

micropig · 12/09/2017 09:29

Bsclp I wouldn't give up hope yet, that sounds really promising!

I have just come across a post on Reddit where someone charted her resting heart rate and AF/ovulation over a year, it's really interesting to see! https://www.reddit.com/r/xxfitness/comments/3w7x9l/chartiimadeshowinggrestinghearttratevs/

I really want to get pregnant of course but I'm also weirdly eager to get my next period to see if I have actually possibly ovulated at a different time than the app has predicted. I do love a good graph Grin

I had a male Fitbit user ask me once what my RHR was as he uses his to measure his fitness. I had no idea at the time that mine fluctuated so much and that this is partially why.

I have learnt so much about my body since joining mumsnet!

AF is due in 5 days. My heart rate is steadily rising every day. I think from looking at previous posts on this thread, that the end of one of the two flat bits would possibly be ovulation, right? According to Glow, we only DTD once during its ovulation prediction (which matches the first flat part on this graph), so I'm not too hopeful this month. During my next cycle I am away until the first day of Glows predicted ovulation window, then the day it ends I have a friend over to visit. Pure chance! It will be our first cycle of properly trying.

As expected but still annoyed, I'm out - AF arrived along with a drop in HR. Oh well fingers crossed for txt cycle :-)

Bsclp sorry to see that AF has arrived for you! I think I'll be joining you in a few days. Hopefully our next cycles bring good news!

intelligentPutty · 15/09/2017 17:47

@Bsclp sorry to hear at arrived for you. Really had fingers crossed. I think this Fitbit RHR just helps to send me more doolally at this time of month!!
@micropig You could still be in there. RHR steadily increasing.

Currently waiting for rhr to drop of the scale. Getting more pessimistic every month.

Af due Monday.
Here's my graph.

Yeah the Fitbit he stuff is enough to send you crazy. I've noticed it definitely peaks when progesterone does (I know this from taking norihisterone to induce a period), and low oestrogen (i.e. On clomid) = low HR. But not sure how useful actually if is without other information to confirm ovulation/pregnancy!

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you both though :-)

HolyShmoly · 15/09/2017 21:17

Sorry to hear about your AF, but thanks for sharing your chart. It's so interesting.

I've just seen this article when doing a bit more research. www.avawomen.com/avaworld/ava-data-means/

I'm on my third month of monitoring mine, it looks like I normally go up one or two bpm, then drop a couple, then spike again before dropping at ovulation.

micropig · 16/09/2017 07:47

Morning all. I reckon this could be a good way of seeing when we ovulate, not expecting to spit early pregnancy with it though as I think heart rate goes high before AF too.

Here's my chart, AF due Tuesday. Don't think we DTD at the right time so not hopeful, but this is my first month with a Fitbit so finding the charts very interesting none the less. PMS is worse this month than the last few, was slightly constipated for the first time the last two days (sorry for TMI), feeling a bit antisocial and grumpy, and feel like I have heartburn this morning weirdly. Breasts are the weird one - sometimes I get breast pain for two weeks following ovulation (this symptom only started this year, you can imagine how disappointing that first AF was as we weren't actively trying but not using protection). This time they hurt a little but not much, and only from yesterday.

I am wondering if the hormone increasing my heart rate so much is the one that causes all these symptoms. It's interesting at least.

HolyShmoly · 16/09/2017 09:43

Yeah it's all really interesting micropig. I find the fact that most conversation online around rhr during cycles and ttc are from forums like this so interesting, it feels like we're crowdsourcing data!

intelligentPutty · 16/09/2017 09:58

I'm comparing last 3 months data. I've been always getting spotting on Sunday. Period actual starting on Monday and HR drops on the Friday or Saturday.
So far I'm still at 79 bpm.
I will need to distract myself today I think to ensure i do not become a crazy wrist tapper. (Checking RHR).
But micro. You are right there is definitely a rise before AF. Every month. So it's not much of a guide!!

HolyShmoly · 16/09/2017 10:01

Intelligent, can you put some tape or something over the face today and poas tomorrow morning if your rhr is still high when you go to bed tonight?

intelligentPutty · 16/09/2017 10:47

Hi @HolyShmoly
I'm not going to test until Monday at earliest. Had enough of disappointment from last few months. Ran out of tests and not bought any more this month on purpose.
Taping over the face is a good idea. Or maybe I'll just try not to do it.
Almost think taping it will give me too much anticipation (and something to build up to being let down again).
Shock

micropig · 16/09/2017 10:58

My HR has started dropping now (changed after I got out of bed haha) and funnily enough I have really bad PMS symptoms too, so actually in a weird way, seeing the RHR chart has kind of softened the blow of going through all these hormones and overthinking them, as is now be properly shocked if it was anything but AF.

DH is on red alert as I've never had PMS symptoms this bad before, so he's been sent to get me food and chocolate (which I rarely treat myself to, but fuck it). If it wasn't for RHR I'd have definitely been thinking these were pregnancy symptoms (and denying myself chocolate).

micropig · 16/09/2017 10:59

Intelligent good luck!

intelligentPutty · 16/09/2017 11:10

Thank god for chocolate!! ;)

micropig · 16/09/2017 11:15

I know lol, DH has been great, even said "you don't have to try to be nice to me today" but only chocolate will get me through work!

micropig · 16/09/2017 14:16

Chocolate was a bad idea 🤢 this is the worst PMS I've ever had, feel like I'm going to fall asleep at work. I just read that the average woman has about 450 periods in her lifetime...

I have still managed to get up and March on the spot every hour to keep my steps up though, please tell me I'm not the only one doing this. 😂

intelligentPutty · 16/09/2017 14:50

Oh micro. U poor thing. PMS feels so much worse when it's in place if a BFP. :(

intelligentPutty · 16/09/2017 21:11

Still at 79. Fucking hell I really hope I'm not just getting myself at it ....

micropig · 17/09/2017 00:36

Oooh fingers crossed for you!!

intelligentPutty · 17/09/2017 09:38

It's jumped to 81 today!!!!!

Bsclp · 17/09/2017 09:46

Sounds promising, fingers crossed 🤞

HolyShmoly · 17/09/2017 10:05

Oh goodness Intelligent. Have you anything nice planned for today to keep you busy and try to take your mind off it?
Micropigs, sorry to hear about your PMS. Hope you feel better soon.
