Hi all,
I was just wondering whether anyone might be in the same boat as me and can offer some advice/success stories?!

My DH and I have been ttc for several months now without any success.
Unfortunately my cycles have been really irregular (ranging from 31 days to 51 days) since coming off bcp last summer.

I have tracked ovulation and I do appear to be ovulating on my own but to add a big spanner into the works, it looks as though my LP is only 9/10 days.

I can find a lot of info about short cycles with a short LP, but not so much on long cycles with short LP. Anyone able to help?

Woken up very distracted. Having thought about it, when I had my intital tests, pelvic exams etc I could ring for those results within a few days as based with my gp. Wonder if the hospital just takes longer from an admin perspective.

Day 4 of consistent temp after a dip at day 32/33. Now on 37, just want this cycle to be over one way or another.... then it's September before we see if we're lucky again, arghhh!

Anyone feeling fairly positive as they head towards poas?

boatrace30 · 18/07/2017 08:58

Morning Sunday - I'm at work today which remarkably always helps my mood as it distracts me. I teach and am about to hit the summer holidays which for the first time ever I am not looking forward to as time off gives me too much thinking time!

Hopeful? I would say no, as I have done this so many times now I don't expect anything.... yet deep down, I am convincing myself I am pregnant and playing out the scenario in my head!! So yes, there is always hope, but it's a negative kind of hope if that makes any sense!

Bows85 · 18/07/2017 09:39

Nope, I'm not hopeful either. It's so difficult to fall pregnant when you've got normal cycles, let alone messed up cycles like ours, so I'm never really hopeful. Although like @boatrace30 I play out the scenario in my head that I am all the time!

So, you've most probably ovulated @Sundaylunchhappy if your temp is consistently risen. Maybe your dip was implantation! Grin

Even if it's not a success this time, I see the specialist in a few weeks so that's one step closer to getting things sorted...

Morning ladies.

What age do you teach boatrace30? I have found when at school I can only concentrate on school as it's so manic which definitely helps.

Apologies girls if I'm being overly enthusiastic, I often tell dh to be quiet and just let me be contently pesemistic Grin.

Trying not to be overly hopeful Bows85, but even just to know there was an egg would be great,

On an aside note (stroppy hat on) any tips on how to politely say to someone moaning about a 25 to 30 day cycle that they can coco?

boatrace30 · 18/07/2017 18:40

Oh pleas don't apologise for being hopeful. Even with our crazy cycles it just takes one decent egg. As my DD shows (letter from consultant remarked on how lucky we were last time!)

I teach at secondary and mainly teach sixth form so yes, very manic!! How about you @Sundaylunchhappy

@Bows85 you sound exactly like me!! 😂

boatrace30 · 18/07/2017 18:42

Oh and as for your other question, depends how much you want to tell them really. I'm opting for honesty with most friends now. But maybe "I'd love to have a shorter cycle, it gives you more chance to get pregnant..." though I believe too short can equally be an issue.

How people get pregnant accidentally is beyond me!!

boatrace30 · 19/07/2017 07:57

Started feeling very cold/fluey last night and it's persisted this morning. Of course it's just the standard end of term illness @Sundaylunchhappy you will know what I mean.

But of course I can't help from googling and of course it is a possible symptom... (isn't everything!!)

Sundaylunchhappy · 19/07/2017 09:17

Morning boatrace30 ha.. I think if I googled why have my nails started flaking this week some random article would say it's a symptom!

Also cold and achey in our house, alas I'm pretty sure you're right, end of term is rife with sharing germs about. I supply teach secondary so lucky for me (unlucky for the savings) I don't work much this end of the year.

Temp drop from 36.4 to 36.2 this morning, grrr. Trying to convince myself it was because I couldn't wait to go to the loo and had too temp afterwards.

Ho hum, af should be popping up by Monday, if not I'm going to try my hardest not to test until cd 50 as I have been known to cycle that long!

CatMum87 · 19/07/2017 10:57

Morning ladies :)

CD 17 and i got a positive opk this morning whoop! So happy that it looks like I may be ovulating earlier this month. Sundaylunchhappy- I am using the cheap internet opks, I figured if I got into the habit of using the clear blue opks I would end up spending a fortune!

I can totally relate to the manic googling! I always tell myself that I won't do it but every time I am in the tww I cannot help it! And the constant knicker checking is just unrealy! So hard to try and stay relaxed isnt it.

We've only been married a few weeks and we've already got people asking us when are we going to have kids......oh if only they knew what we've been dealing with the last 18 months!

Bows85 · 19/07/2017 11:30

People are so fucking rude @CatMum87 ! I know people don't mean it to be nosey or whatever, but I wish people could be more sensitive to the fact that it's actually none of their business! My DH's grandmother once said (after 3 of her granddaughters had recently announced their pregnancies/given birth) "everyone is getting pregnant these days, apart from SOME people who we won't mention" - eyes darted towards us! Ffs! If only she knew 🙄

You're not out until AF shows @Sundaylunchhappy Fingers crossed your temp dip was just a blip.

Yay to the early ovulation day @CatMum87 Isn't that the second time you've ovulated earlier in the last couple of cycles? Maybe it's settling into a pattern...

Sundaylunchhappy · 19/07/2017 11:43

Bows85 and CatMum87 funny story, some of our relatives hugged goodbye after our wedding and said "see you at the christening" Grin

I figure now that people who I know truly care about us are just a bit dopey with their wording. Others who know what's going on, are just insensitive and will never know how much pain they can cause with such simple sentences.

Trying to be positive about holding out, but some depressing things are going on in the knicker department and I'm waiting for that fatal wipe..... which will be quickly followed by a large Gin and tonic!

boatrace30 · 19/07/2017 13:13

Great new that you are ovulating catmum - I have noticed that I seem to ovulate slightly earlier every other month so I wonder if one ovary is working better than the other?

Sorry sunday that it seems AF is on the way. You aren't out yet though. I'm 8dpo and feel like some of the signs are there. But I have to say I will be relieved to get started on the clomid.

As for people and their rudeness.... we had it so much when we got married and now getting a lot of comments about "when are you having no.2 then?". I think so many people are just clueless to the fact that conception and pregnancy are not straightforward. Equally it's why I try and be honest with lots of people as infertility/pregnancy loss seems to be such a taboo subject.

Bows85 · 19/07/2017 20:40

I definitely think it should be talked about more @boatrace30

I hope that when (positive thinking!) we have a successful pregnancy I'll be able to tell people in my wider circle what happened in May. At the moment, it still feels private. I don't want everyone knowing we're trying...adding the pressure!

I remember seeing something a while ago on Facebook about miscarriage and I was surprised at the number of women I knew who commented that they had been through a loss. Showed how common it is and reaffirmed my belief that it should be something that people aren't afraid to share (when the time is right).

Sundaylunchhappy · 20/07/2017 06:41

Morning ladies, sorry a bit off topic but I'm having a bit of a melt down. Took a clear blue digi ovulation test last night and first thing today because I'm a desperate idiot and both have come back with massive smiles/dark lines.

What the heck? I'm cd 39!

boatrace30 · 20/07/2017 06:48

Is it worth taking a pregnancy test? I've read that opks will also come back as positive because the hormone is similar?
Hope that doesn't give you false hope... I'd also get to dtd just in case. I've had 50+ day cycles before

Sundaylunchhappy · 20/07/2017 08:52

Have been to Tescos and had a tantrum they didn't have any frer's. Got a 2 pack of cb's. Feel like I'm going around the twist and taking poor dh with me.

will try and persuade dh that we need to dtd tonight as soon as he walks in the door just incase.

I just thought I'd finally settled into 42 day cycles after all this time!

Not done a pregnancy test for nearly 10 years (goes in search of reading glasses)

Might need a hand hold boatrace

boatrace30 · 20/07/2017 18:15

Lol, I've done over 50 since starting to TTC no.2. Honestly, It's easy 😂
DH is in charge of the tests now, I tried to make him give me one this morning but he says he won't let me until Monday!!! Argh!!

In all likelihood I won't need one by Monday and he is absolutely right.

boatrace30 · 20/07/2017 21:24

Haha, DH is weak... he just said "I'll go get a test now!" And he was gutted when I said it needed to be early morning sample!!

boatrace30 · 21/07/2017 06:54

So I'm woken first thing by DH with pregnancy tests! BFN obvs! So much for making me hold off... and now I feel a bit like I've let him down 🙁

Sundaylunchhappy · 21/07/2017 08:20

boatrace30 I'm sorry that's rubbish. Is there a chance it's just too early for you to be testing yet?

I feel like a right arse saying this now but I did the tests yesterday and got two bfp's. However, temp drop today, af not due till Sunday/Monday and still no blood result to say there was even an egg. So not getting too excited.

Feel free to vent my way x

CatMum87 · 21/07/2017 08:55

@Sundaylunchhappy- I am a little confused! You took to tests yesterday which were positive and the one this morning was negative??

Don't be silly, not here to judge :D! x

boatrace30 · 21/07/2017 09:33

Yes it could well be too early, which is why DH was meant to make me hold off! 😂

@Sundaylunchhappy a bfp is a bfp, but very weird that today you got a bfn. Were they strong positives yesterday or faint?

boatrace30 · 21/07/2017 09:34

Sorry, misread... no test today... I think the advice is to stop temping if you get a bfp as it an be erratic!
So stop, relax and congratulations!!

CatMum87 · 21/07/2017 09:47

Uh sorry ladies I've misread everything Blush...clearly didnt get much sleep last night!

@Boatrace30- how many dpo are you now?! Those tests are just too tempting eh!!

@sundaylunchhappy- if you've positive tests then I guess you are pregnant! Congratulations!!!

boatrace30 · 21/07/2017 09:51

9 or 10, so probably too early but was hoping for a faint line!
I normally have some spotting by now and don't... yet...

But I'm trying to look on the bright side of the bfn. Off to France next week and would be rubbish if I couldn't drink WineWineWine
