Hi all,
I was just wondering whether anyone might be in the same boat as me and can offer some advice/success stories?!

My DH and I have been ttc for several months now without any success.
Unfortunately my cycles have been really irregular (ranging from 31 days to 51 days) since coming off bcp last summer.

I have tracked ovulation and I do appear to be ovulating on my own but to add a big spanner into the works, it looks as though my LP is only 9/10 days.

I can find a lot of info about short cycles with a short LP, but not so much on long cycles with short LP. Anyone able to help?

Sorry haven't worked out how to tag people yet!

Fingers crossed your ingredients were in the right place at the right time before dh went away boatrace!

Have your done an opk this morning yet bows?

I feel like I've well and truly stretched the boundaries of nuttiness with my dh this morning. Found out far too late last night I'd run out the opk inserts for the flashing smiley demon kit clearblue test and had to collect my sample in a Kilner jar so I can test later! Nice surprise when he went to brush his teeth....

Consultant appointment at noon today, also realised I posted incorrectly yesterday, I'm now on cd 32, had a massive temp dip this morning. Feeling very shouty at the world.

Bows85 · 13/07/2017 13:01

@Sundaylunchhappy to tag - just press the @ and a list of everyone on the thread should come up. Or select the bold font in the buttons below the text box Smile

YES! Got my positive OPK! Think it was pretty much there yesterday evening and had a little rise in bbt this morning (from what is normally my baseline...I'm still not temping for the whole month, just around ovulation) so potentially ovulated last night, but could be today/tomorrow. Will see what tomorrow's temp and OPK brings. I'm over the moon that I've taken a good chunk of time off my normal cycle. Still too effing long, but I'm taking it as a positive. Long may that continue (or not if a BFP comes my way!).

Bows - we really are in sync!!

sunday - you can also put an asterix before and after the name - I never knew about the @ function!

Bows85 · 13/07/2017 16:25

How funny @boatrace30 😂 it is so weird! I haven't ovulated in the CD20s since December and think that was a fluke! I'm so hoping that it's a sign that my cycles might be shortening. Either that or my cycles are more irregular than ever!
Well, here's hoping we both get our BFPs together @boatrace30 🤞🏼

OP posts:
Bows85 · 13/07/2017 16:26

Ah! There's a flaw in the @ button though. It doesn't change the text to bold when you're writing...hence the mess I've just posted 😂

OP posts:
Sundaylunchhappy · 13/07/2017 17:41

Thanks Bows85 and boatrace30

Excellent news on the positive opk front.

New pack of clearblue purchased and accidentally got the normal ones rather than dual hormone so have gone from flashing smiles to a blank face.

Appointment went reasonably well, off for another blood test on Monday to see if I have indeed produced an egg this week as I can't seem to work it out myself Confused. Now really hoping I have ovulated but the opks and my temping are just off...

Open appointment to go back in two months if things are still as clear as fog.

Bows85 · 14/07/2017 12:05

So temp stayed pretty much the same as yesterday morning so haven't had the spike I hoped for. Looking back at other cycles, I have had times when my temp goes up above the normal cover line but not significantly until day 2 or 3 (weirdly the cycle I got my BFP did this). Confused about which day I ovulated but it was def yesterday or today.

OPK is definitely a -ve now so officially in the 2ww. I am inclined to think I'm 1dpo as wed evening's OPK was pretty much +ve and that had tailed off by Thurs evening.

Hoping for a stress-free couple of weeks with no symptom spotting. Who am I kidding?!

OP posts:
boatrace30 · 14/07/2017 14:23

Mine was pretty much the same as yesterday, but a decent bit above the cover line. I am also pretty sure it happened Tuesday or Wednesday so we're on the 2ww together. No symptom spotting bows!!

boatrace30 · 15/07/2017 17:54

Oh I hate the 2ww (though I guess at least for us girls it's usually more like 8-10day wait) 😂. Time moves sooo slowly!! I'm always checking my phone to "check" I'm still 4dpo! Shockingly... I am!

Bows85 · 15/07/2017 19:03

Haha @boatrace30 I know exactly what you mean. Got to keep busy to stop my mind wandering into the fantasy world of due dates and maternity leave 😂

CatMum87 · 16/07/2017 20:40

Uh I didn't get any email notifications so it looks like I have missed out on all the action!!

@bows85 @boat race, yay for the two week (ish 😉) wait! You're in this together and I have my fingers crossed for both of you!

Bet you are thrilled to have ovulated earlier @bows85, any idea what CD it was?? A cycle under 40 days of a bfp is to come ??!!!

@boatrace30- will you even need the Clomid?? Ooh I think I'm getting too excited for you both!

@sundaylunchhappy- hope the blood test shows that you've ovulated 😊.

Cd14 here and has a slight bit of ewcm yesterday and today....nothing on the opks though......hhhhmmmm!! Xx

Sundaylunchhappy · 16/07/2017 21:20

Hi CatMum87

Fingers crossed you see that LH surge soon, what opks are you using?

Blood test tomorrow, in my overly romantic head I'm sort of hoping we'll all be blown away and apart from a dollop of progesterone, the consultant will ring with news of a bfp Blush

Back in the real world, if I have indeed ovulated, I shall be able to test this Friday. Spotted a chemist in the nearest larger town that sells the holy grail (frer)!

boatrace30 · 16/07/2017 21:46

Lol @Sundaylunchhappy - every time I've had a blood test I've dreamed g that happening!
@CatMum87 - I'm feeling more positive this cycle as at least if it is the expected bfn I have hope for next month... would love not to take Clomid though. Lots of horror stories out there about moods and I'll be taking it on our holiday!
Fingers crossed you ovulate soon and @Sundaylunchhappy I hope you get confirmation of ovulation.
@Bows85 - hold on in there!

boatrace30 · 16/07/2017 21:46

Hmm first time using the @ function and bold has gone crazy!!

cinderrose · 17/07/2017 11:26

Hi ladies, it seems that our wacky cycles may have somehow synced!! I got positive OPKs last night and again this morning - CD26-27. A mammoth 11 days earlier than last cycle, which I suppose means my cycles are more irregular than ever!

@Sundaylunchhappy is it your "day 21" blood test that you have today to check for ovulation? If I figure that today is ovulation day for me then my next step is a "day 21" blood test. Though this already feels like my best cycle since coming off the pill a year ago, given how relatively early I have ovulated this time!

Hope everyone is keeping calm and the days are going quick for those of you already in the 2ww!!

Bows85 · 17/07/2017 11:34

That @ button does what it bloody likes!

@CatMum87 I think I ovulated on CD24 or CD25. Either way, it's far earlier than I'm used to so I'm really pleased that the worst case scenario is that this cycle is shorter. Who would have thought something so small would get me excited!

So I'm either 3DPO or 4DPO today.

Hope your OPKs turn positive soon! Signs are pointing in the right direction Smile

Temped this morning and it's risen again. Not huge big spikes, but a steady rise. Now about 0.4 over my normal cover line. Thermometer has been put away!

We've DTD regularly so hoping it's worked. If not, I've got our appointment to look to.

Trying to stay relaxed...

OP posts:
Sundaylunchhappy · 17/07/2017 12:03

afternoon (just) all!

cinderrose it was yes, except I'm on cd 36 in real terms Sad

Steaming my way quite literally through a massive ironing pile and trying not to think about the results of the stingy feeling in my left arm.

Bows85, I've had a 0.5 increase in temp the last two days, but it's still not as high as some readings earlier in my cycle but like you, a steady and consistent increase.

Flowers for you ladies who know you've ovulated, let's hope we get to see some bfps amongst us soon.

boatrace30 · 17/07/2017 13:52

Feeling down after having lunch with friends (one has just had a baby, the other is pregnant - both first time trying obviously! Grr!) Anyway, pregnant friend was telling us about her best friend (who I've never met as she lives a long way away) is pregnant with twins, straight after coming off the pill (big shock etc.) I just got irrationally angry about it! I've never even met this poor woman!

Plus another friend from the same group announced she is trying so that will undoubtedly be another announcement in a few weeks time! GRRR!!!

Bows85 · 17/07/2017 15:34

When I have taken my temp throughout the month, it doesn't really vary...to the point I thought the thermometer might be broken 😂 I think I just have a really steady temp until I ovulate, then the increase, although not massive (0.4-0.6), is noticeable on my chart.

Oh @boatrace30 I am sorry. I really think that those feelings are one of the worst things to come out of TTC (and failing to fall pregnant). It makes you into an irrational woman, thinking envious of people you haven't met! It's such a tough time and I'm not sure that people who haven't been through it can fully appreciate those feelings.

I mean, I let out a big jealous sigh last night when I saw that Danny from Mcfly's wife is pregnant 😂 For goodness sake! How ridiculous?!

You're not alone @boatrace30 And remember...other people's ability to get pregnant has no bearing on yours.... Confused

OP posts:
Bows85 · 17/07/2017 15:35

Good luck for your results @Sundaylunchhappy When do you get them back?

OP posts:
Sundaylunchhappy · 17/07/2017 15:44

Hoping for the results in the next two weeks, that's what I got last time.

boatrace30 that sucks, did your friends know about your situation? One of my friends knows every hideous detail of our journey up to now, but still likes to send me updates of her newborn to "cheer me up".

Woman crossing at traffic lights on my Tesco run earlier, how dare she be pregnant in front of me! Irrational bag of hormones (though not the bloody helpful ones) over here Grin

Bows85 · 17/07/2017 15:54

2 weeks is a long time to wait @Sundaylunchhappy how frustrating! I have been able to get blood results a day or two after they were taken. Maybe I've been very lucky!

OP posts:
Sundaylunchhappy · 17/07/2017 16:12

Were they blood tests ordered from a gp Bows85? I wonder if the wait is due to the backlog of data being returned to the gyne consultant. Do you think I could ring up the department in a few days and try my luck? Also the consultant is incredible in his way of actually ringing patients which is so nice, but must take a huge amount of his time up.

I figure if the result comes back positive then I can hold out to see if af arrives or we've hit jackpot, if not then it saves me poas only to realise there wasn't even an egg to fertilise.

boatrace30 · 17/07/2017 16:24

Yes 2 weeks is a long time. My bloods have all been done via GP and I can usually phone for them in about three days.
Glad I'm not the only irrational hatred filled woman!

And yes my friends know, I tend to prefer to be open, but yes I don't think anyone really understands unless they've been through it. Xx

Bows85 · 17/07/2017 20:16

Yeah @Sundaylunchhappy my bloods have all been through my GP. I suppose it wouldn't harm giving them a call.
