Long cycle / short luteal phase

Hi all,
I was just wondering whether anyone might be in the same boat as me and can offer some advice/success stories?!

My DH and I have been ttc for several months now without any success.
Unfortunately my cycles have been really irregular (ranging from 31 days to 51 days) since coming off bcp last summer.

I have tracked ovulation and I do appear to be ovulating on my own but to add a big spanner into the works, it looks as though my LP is only 9/10 days.

I can find a lot of info about short cycles with a short LP, but not so much on long cycles with short LP. Anyone able to help?

Hi @cinderrose @bows85 so nice to hear from you both and how you are getting aIong. i am 18 weeks coming up to 19 with my 20 week scan on the 18th Jan. Can't wait to see the little one again as I haven't felt any movement yet. Have started to get a little bump now that doesn't disappear in the morning so that excites me Grin

Taking the tips on maternity clothes on board Wink.

Has anyone signed up to any kind of classes...i haven't a clue where to start with all this!!!

Sjmradtech · 10/01/2018 22:13

So I'm new here. I have been off implanon for over a year now. My cycles have been irregular for the nost part but they seem to be settling around 35 days. My problem is I have realized I only have a 9 day luteal phase. Today is 9 dpo, and i am cranping similar to my pre period cramps but not as severe. No spotting. Yesterday I got zombie tired out of nowhere which I thought was strange. I was extremely tired when I was pregnant with my son. I took a test yesterday with low expectations and I thought I saw a faint line but I figured it's just wishful thinking. Then I took one this morning and it said no. Then came the cramps so I'm confused. With my first kid I was clueless I was even pregnant the first 3 months. With my son I knew almost right away but I was trying. We are trying now, but my husband said it's now or never for a 3rd. We dtd 2 days before ovulation so I don't know. Thoughts?

Bows85 · 10/01/2018 22:25

Ahh! So lovely to hear from you @CatMum87 So pleased things are progressing nicely. How did you get to 19 weeks do quickly?! Time is flying for you too! Totally jealous that you get to see you baby again! Wish there was another scan offered later on
Are you going to find out the sex?

@Sjmradtech hi there! There's always a possibility that you're pregnant but no way of knowing for sure unless you take another test. Maybe leave it a couple of days and rest again? There's 4 of us here who had short LPs who are sat here pregnant, so it definitely can happen Thanks

@Bows85 I am hopeful. No period yet but still cramps and my boobs itch like crazy which is weird. My son is bugging to be a big brother. If I do end up pregnant I'm going to wait a while to tell the kids. Praying it happens this cycle.

Bows85 · 10/01/2018 23:00

Oh, and @CatMum87 I started pregnancy yoga at about 19 weeks which I'm really enjoying. It's good to speak to other expectant mums in the area too.

We've also booked in to do NCT classes. Will hopefully help meet people to get support as well as learning something useful! There's also a couple of NHS antenatal classes we're doing too. Need to gather as much info as I can!

Hi everyone!

@cinderrose - glad your scan went well and definitely look for some maternity clothes bargains. I've also used eBay a lot and got some great stuff. The flip side of that is if you splash out in expensive stuff it tends to have good resale value so you can claw back some money later on. Plus if you have a second you'll get more wear and will definitely start wearing mat clothes sooner! Believe me

@CatMum87 - I'm a big advocate of NCT classes if you want to meet local people who'll have babies a similar age. I'm great friends with 7 of the 8 I met and 2 of them I'd count as really close friends (e.g. have the house keys of one of them as she is due any day and I'm emergency childcare for her little boy)
But if it's just knowledge you're after you'll probably be offered free NHS ones.
If you want to do NCT sign up ASAP as the classes tend to book fast

@Bows85 - glad all progressing well. We're a whole thread of people who want surprises! I wonder which of us will have the baby first... maybe be as baby is breech at the moment so I might end up with an elective c-section. It's weird to think that I'm that case it will be a March baby. March sounds a lot closer than April!!

@Sjmradtech - in the cycle I got pregnant I got a bfn on 10dpo and faint bfp 11dpo. So still possible.
How long have you been TTC? I'd say 9/10 day LP should be okay for conceiving but could just mean it takes a month or two longer. As @Bows85 said, we all got there in the end just took us all a bit longer than average.
It's a lucky thread anyway, so welcome!

Sjmradtech · 11/01/2018 20:28

We just started trying. I'm just nervous he is going to change his mind. I was cramping yesterday a lot but no AF as of yet. I don't know if it wishful thinking or what, but I have had heartburn , nausea, a super dry mouth, and i have been super tired and out of breath. I have noticed that my breasts aren't super tender but they itch. For those who have had kids or are currently pregnant, it reminds me of when your boobs itch from getting bigger. But I'm only 10 dpo. Wouldn't it be too soon for some of that?? Fingers crossed. We are getting married Saturday after being together for 11 years so I'd rather not start AF yet either way, lol.

boatrace30 · 12/01/2018 10:38

They all sound like good signs! The problem I found with 11months of symptom spotting obsessively is that AF symptoms are just too much like pregnancy symptoms! It's really not fair!
Fingers crossed for you - it would be a great wedding present!
Have a lovely day tomorrow!

Sjmradtech · 15/01/2018 04:45

What do y'all think? I'm 13dpo I'm scared to get my hopes up

Long cycle / short luteal phase
boatrace30 · 15/01/2018 06:52

That's a bfp! Congrats!

Sjmradtech · 15/01/2018 17:50

Ok ladies, had a blood test done this am,it was positive but very faint. I'm only 15dpo. Just keep me in your prayers that everything goes well. In just nervous.

Sjmradtech · 15/01/2018 17:51

Sorry 14 dpo not 15

Peanutty86 · 15/01/2018 20:41

I had long cycles (40-79 days) and a 10 day luteal phase (which is ok but on the shorter side). I took Angus castus ans it got me to 32 days with 12 day luteal phase so I was quite impressed. Pregnant now so don't know if it would have stabilised like this.

Sjmradtech · 19/01/2018 01:16

So does anyone out there have any advice if my insurance covers 0 prenatal or labor and delivery? I'm worried i make too much for medicaid.

boatrace30 · 19/01/2018 08:20

Sorry I'm UK based. I think we all are. No idea about medical insurance

Bows85 · 19/01/2018 19:03

UK based here too...sorry that I can't help @Sjmradtech

Bows85 · 01/02/2018 08:58

Hey everyone!

31 weeks here too. The last few weeks have flown by and it's scary to think I'm down to single figures until my due date. Exciting times! Potentially less for you @boatrace30 Grin

Still need to do so much in the house but working full time and getting stuff done is hard! I've got just over 4 weeks left at work and then the nesting can truly commence.

Hope you're both doing well @CatMum87 and @cinderrose

OP posts:
boatrace30 · 01/02/2018 13:52

Oh that's depressing... I've theoretically got 8 weeks left (7weeks teaching if you include half term)

CatMum87 · 01/02/2018 15:16

Wow 31 weeks already! Not long now for you ladies, just think how fast the last two months have gone- little babies will be here in no time! Have either of you got your suspicions as to whether you are having a boy or girl?!

I am 22 weeks now and just started to feel the bubbles :). Love it, knowing he/she is wriggling around in there. Found out at my 20 week scan that I have an anterior placenta which will be cushioning all the kicks!

We recently moved house and our renovating all the bedrooms so lots to do before little one arrives, no panicking just yet :s!!

Bows85 · 01/02/2018 17:54

Lovely to hear from you @CatMum87 Your pregnancy seems to be flying over! So pleased you're starting to feel the movements, it's lush isn't it?

I've got an anterior placenta too! While I felt movement fairly early for an anterior placenta at about 19 weeks, I think they have been muffled. Feel it plenty nowadays though!

Long story but ended up being referred for a growth scan today as I was measuring small. Found out that the baby is fine, but breech! I'm just hoping it decides to do a 180 and realise the correct way to come out!

boatrace30 · 12/03/2018 18:58

How's everyone getting on? 37weeks and full term tomorrow!! Another week and a half at work though. C-section looking likely for two weeks time as baby is stubbornly breech. Eek! It was such a slow pregnancy but the third trimester has flown by!

Bows85 · 12/03/2018 22:22

Hey 👋🏼
Just like @boatrace30 I'll be 37 weeks tomorrow and my baby is also breech! Nightmare. C-section looking likely over here too. Disappointed but I just want the baby to get here safely.
What a journey it's been. Can't believe that the end is in sight...!
Hope your pregnancies are going well @cinderrose and @CatMum87

OP posts:
cinderrose · 13/03/2018 17:40

Oh wow, you ladies are full term!! Amazing :) And 2 breech babies! Are you being monitored to see if baby turns? It's really out of your hands so I guess it's good to have some time to get used to the idea of a C-section if that's what is required.

I'm over 30 weeks now and feeling more and more uncomfortable, although I hope the third trimester doesn't fly by too quickly. Overall I really enjoy being pregnant, and it feels like there's still so much to do before the baby arrives!

You both must be so excited x
