Interesting Jam, I too am thinking about private help. Thing is I feel like I ovulate really regularly, and that my problem is potentially with implantation/accepting pregnancies; general question to anyone who might know - does Clomid help with overall fertility increasing chances of a successful pregnancy, or is it mostly concerned with helping ovulation?? x

Footy1 · 26/04/2017 22:21

From the clomid board there are ladies who ovulate. Some didn't to start with, but some had regular cycles.. interestingly 2 maybe 3 got their bfp's!
I think they were offered clomid as they had been tttc for long time but couldn't afford ivf. A few are monitored, and like myself was prescribed it and told to just get on with it. Depends where u are. It helps produce good quality big eggs! (I don't have many left I suspect so it's unpredictable for me)!
It's safe as long as you only take a small dose (as if u already ovulate) you might chuck out a couple of eggs at a time. They put me on 100mg to start as I wasn't ovulating regularly. But seen from others that were ovulating were prescribed 50mg only. It's not harmed me yet! My cousin got preg on it and bought it online herself without monitoring. All the monitoring will do is checking that only one egg was released, to avoid unwanted twins and multiples. So they will tell u to hold off dtd possibly. Overstimulation is also a side effect, but quite rare. It can thin the lining if taken for more than 6-9 months.

Footy1 · 26/04/2017 22:25

Day 30Star day 3 of the AF pills.
Another few days to go then will have to look forward for AF to arrive!

Moody today.. must be the progesterone.

physicskate · 27/04/2017 18:57

So I've decided I'm not tracking or doing anything... I'm going private and will ring in July. Clinic said it would take about 5 weeks for an initial spot, which might be august sometime...

I give up. Fingers crossed this approach works??

Londonjam · 27/04/2017 19:09

IVF Kate?

physicskate · 27/04/2017 20:03

I think just to do tests... not really sure. Maybe iui. I haven't ever made it past 4w3d and maybe I just need progesterone or I dunno. I just feel like it will kill me if I go to the gp in a year and they say 'oh yeah this is what's wrong'. I also feel like age is not really on my side because I've always said 2...

I don't know what I want but I'm pretty sure something isn't right with me. Even just a sodding ultrasound! I've never had one and all these women here talk about having had one in their early twenties for some such trivial thing and them finding something. What if it's the shape of my uterus??

I don't know what I fear more: something being wrong and nothing being wrong.

Also my ccg were in the news not that long ago for not finding any ivf... so what if they change it again??? Just feeling hopeless. Need hope and help!

Footy1 · 28/04/2017 09:50

Aww kate sorry you are feeling rubbish about it all.
Think you can only do what u can by yourself for now until you get seen.
So you have already focussed on diet..how's that going?
Would you consider getting blood test done online? A progesterone test.
Check cervix- will indicate if on a tilt or one side that u need to aim a certain way- change position.

Maybe look into a different private clinic? I know when I initially did tests before boys came along I got seen pronto as they just want your business! Another thought is to call your gp (maybe ask to speak to a different one- explain how desperate you are to undergo tests and if they can't order blood tests and scan can they write a referral letter for you to take to a private hosp. I know that London /S/east clinics are good and there are a few others dotted around up north - I know it won't b local but if it gets you help then that will be a start.

Maybe try other options in the meantime- clomid? Progesterone cream? And then if U get seen you can say you have done these.. which will then bump u up the list a bit.
Change gp's?
Your body can do it kate, it's so common for this to happen.
If you tell them you have had a few mc's would they then look into it?? I don't know?

Footy1 · 28/04/2017 09:58

Just seen a post on clomid thread (that I started awhile back) that someone has just been prescribed clomid and she ovulated naturally and regularly she's waiting ivf too and they suggest she try that first.

Also read on metformin info online says it's also used for repeated miscarriages in people. Helps sustain pregnancy. Another option? Feel like I'm throwing drugs at you all.. but what else can we do but pool all our advice, knowledge and experiences together to make this work.

Maybe a bit of extra research needed?Hmm

Also kate.. do u think your Dh will do a morphology test? You can do that online too. Amazing what u can send through the post Smile

Turkey basters? Inject multiple times over ovulation? Think there's a thread for that too! Lol

Tee4me · 28/04/2017 16:10

Lots of food for thought there, nice one Footy!
Interesting about Metformin, you've kicked me off on an google mission now Grin
Is that the one that's been making you feel sick? Are you in full AF mode now? Trying anything different this cycle yourself?
I think if we're not successful this cycle I'm going to drop the aspirin and epo. I've been thinking about how it only took me 3 months to conceive DS (not on aspirin) and 3 months from December 2015 (not on aspirin), so whether that first miscarriage set me on a natural downward spiral or the aspirin I started on after it happened has actually been a blocker? I'm just wondering if it could be the latter now. Thing is whenever I try and research baby aspirin, I can only find positive things. I also think maybe I've had less ewcm since I started epo. Need to just start trusting my body again. We stopped DTD on CD13, hope that wasn't too early. I think I either ovulated that day or CD14 at the latest, so should be good.
Kate I think a consultation with a specialist may help you untangle your thoughts and help lay out your plan of action. Definitely think you should swap GPs though and push for a referral.
How are you feeling Jam?

Londonjam · 28/04/2017 18:07

Kate even getting that ball rolling helps me feel better, that there is an element of control. I would recommend a private SA to rule anything out there, and get yourself a scan and blood tests.

I'm day one cycle 18. Was trying to stay strong this morning but ended up in tears at my desk and I had to go and have a big cry in the park at lunch. I don't feel like I'll ever be a mum.

I've booked my HSG today which will be Day 12 so might make TTC a bit tricky this cycle. I find myself caring less. It's hard to keep positive with repeated failure.

physicskate · 28/04/2017 18:33

Wow foot! So much food for thought there. I've already lost 4 pounds in just over a week... ov so im not hoping to or expecting to sustain that...

I'm so torn because I do t want to throw good money after bad, so to speak. What if I spend a grand on tests and nothing comes from it? I just know something's gotta change, but not sure where to start... that's where I was hoping my gp would point me. Might do Day 21 bloods off the internet this month and go from there.

How would I know if I need clomid? Do I just take it and see? I've been taking the isoflavins and got another couple days with those... do you need any monitoring with clomid? I've had a few quick looks for progesterone because there are no side effects or possible harm but haven't seen what seems to be easy to manage for ttc stuff... just get for menopause and I'm a bit worried about ordering off some dodgy site (not online pharmacy or similar).

As ever, you are the women I have to talk about this stuff. Sorry I'm a right Debbie downer! I'm just a whirl of conflicting feelings and thoughts at the moment!

Tee4me · 28/04/2017 19:50

Sorry Jam 😔 What's a HSG?
Kate if I were you, I'd start from the beginning and forget everything else for now. For you; blood tests on day 3 & 21 to check all the appropriate hormones levels. Then an internal scan for an initial assessment of your uterus/ovaries; everything appearing normal/structurally as it should be (they take measurements of ovaries etc).
For him; as Jam said, semen analysis.
These are the basics and will be the starting point for any referral. The SA costs around £100 privately, not sure about the bloods and scan. I'd guess all in

Tee4me · 28/04/2017 19:56

London Women's Clinic, for example, offer comprehensive fertility tests and consultation for male & female (the tests I mentioned) for £450. Not bad for peace of mind and to get the ball rolling x

Mimilicious013 · 29/04/2017 09:07

Hie ladies, sorry have been mia. Been bed ridden for the past week with a bad backache but doing better now.

Sorry you have all been going through trying times. hope there is light at the end of the tunnel soon for all of you.

Sorry for af @kate Flowers.you jam tee foot will soon have your little ones and a story to tell.

Have a good weekend y'allWink

Londonjam · 29/04/2017 09:13

Tee HSG is a tubes check. They flush dye through your Fallopian tubes and take X-rays to check they are not blocked. Anecdotally they can make women more fertile afterwards , but two or three girls on the TTC1 thread have had one and no BFP so I'm not getting my hopes up. It's meant to be quite painful too...

Tee4me · 29/04/2017 09:38

Hi Mim, sorry to hear about your bad back, hope you are feeling lots better soon,
Oh OK Jam that's interesting and probably well worth while. I've heard people talk about a 'lap and dye' so probably a similar thing. Shame about the timing. I generally get my peak opk on CD12 but then I usually ovulate early on. Hopefully if you're the more normal CD14/15 ovulator, then you will still have time to line some swimmers up?

Russkispy · 29/04/2017 22:31

Hi ladies, I had HCG check as my right tube was blocked. I was then given some pills and only check my tubes again a year later or so. They flushed the day through both tubes which you can see on the monitor and both were open., and it wasn't painful at all, just a slight discomfort.

Footy1 · 30/04/2017 14:57

Hi ladies, sorry for being a bit absent! Really busy weekend- and we're getting a puppy!! So full on googling what to do etc..
So excited I can't contain myself. Always said if I can't have a baby I'd get a dog! So dog it is for now.

No AF yet- bad twinges earlier on one side so maybe that's a bit of something doing something.

Food for thought for those ladies who were on pill for a longtime. If the contraceptive pill stops ovulation does that mean that I've had 7 years of saving my eggs?? Anyone??

physicskate · 30/04/2017 15:14

Sadly foot, we've all been losing eggs since the day we're we're born. We have about 2 million eggs at birth but lose them through apoptosis, which is the same reason we don't have webbed fingers like we did when first developing in the womb... basically the cells just die. We don't ov 2 million eggs because by the time we reach puberty there are 10s or 100s of thousands left, and the number left declines with age...

Footy1 · 30/04/2017 21:26

That's a shame, kinda had a glimmer of hope that being on the pill for 7 years might have saved me some eggs. Evil pill!

Mimilicious013 · 01/05/2017 05:35

Hie all. Hope the weekend was was a good one.
Ohh @kate, that explains why it gets harder with age.
foot , glad you are excited about the dog.lt will surely distract you for a while. I keep chickens instead.my kids love dogs and I don't 🙈, I was bitten by 4 dogs when growing up , so hmmm.

I am better thanks @tee, but can't dtd, so a break this month. Hope your tww is going by fast and fx.

Hope you are feeling better @jam, and fx the hsg test gets things rolling for you.

How are you @russ? Are you knitting up anything for the lo?

Footy1 · 02/05/2017 11:01

Ha Mimi I use to chickens, a pig and a lamb! Now just a puppy! He's definitely a distraction I'm sleep deprived, not dressed yet and hungry. Was his first night last night so toilet training is a mission.
Bad AF pains in the night so it's on it's way. At least I can start afresh in a few days.

How's everyone doing.. where's everyone at?

A lady on the clinic mud thread got her bfp with metformin/clomid and drank lots of pomegranate juice Hmm so something new to try.

Footy1 · 02/05/2017 12:14

*use to have that should have said!

Footy1 · 04/05/2017 09:49

Cd3 Star
Positivity for this cycle is good at the moment. I really haven't had any chance to really think and obsess about ttc as this little pup is absolutely using up my energy. This is hard work!! He's into everything.. pulling, biting, chewing.. but he's cute so all worth it.

How is everyone?

Hope your headache has shifted mimi My head has been banging for a few days too but for me comes with AF.
*
Tee* yes the metformin made me feel so so sick at first. But for use to it and when and what to eat etc. I don't know much about aspirin? But maybe it will thin the blood too much if taken too long?
I'm just popping the pills (Angus c, coq10, EPO, soy inf, folic a, metformin, and clomid.
Yikes that's a lot.. but what have I got to lose?

My cousin got a puppy as they thought they couldn't have children, and the first month afterwards she fell pregnant! So fingers crossed X lol although the thought of a crying baby, a whining puppy, and sleep deprivation might just make me a bit STRESSED! Confused

I'll attach a pic - he's so cute
