Hello! I’m not sure if anyone posting here would remember me. I’m not ttc anymore as I now have a 5month old baby boy but I miss the routine of ttc and the camaraderie of the women here going through the same thing. I was 42 when I had him and the cycle leading to pregnancy was just like all the others except for using the clear blue advanced digital monitor for the first time & taking no supplements. Dtd the day of the positive on the cb and the day after and that was it for the month.

Wishing you all the best of luck :)

weasledee · 21/11/2017 06:48

Hi bloop what a lovely update! Congratulations!

Little I thought about that but then I also thought nobody would be able to give me the reassurance I’d like......

Polly99 · 21/11/2017 08:02

Weasledee, I know how you feel. 2 kids already, we feel lucky to have them (there were 3 losses in between). Then two losses in the 7 or so years since I had my last child. I can only assume my eggs became very crap at age 35!
IVF worked in that we got decent looking embryos, but nothing implanted. I worry that, if I did get pregnant, with my luck I would end up terminating for medical reasons. My last pregnancy looked perfect at scans but died at around 9 weeks and had Patau, and otherwise I just don’t get pregnant, so I worry that a seriously defective embryo that could never have been a child was the best my body could do...

Morning Ladies - I’ve been lurking and intermittently posting for what seems like forever! I name changed though was (mattsmama). I also have 2 DC who are
my world. I Can so relate to all your posts and I’m probably the oldest here now at 48. Last pregnancy was August but was a chemical and I’m thinking the same as all of you. Having a particularly tough time at the moment in terms of getting used to the idea it may never now happen but then I think of Louise Dilner and the daily mail posts by a GP who got pregnant at 48 and get a spark of hope. I’m always lurking anyway - just wanted to pop in and say hello and loads of luck to you all - hi to CHEWY if your
still popping in. I do think of you often and wonder how you are and GUM. Also JassS xx

Cleozeta · 21/11/2017 10:19

Alibaba, I take soy for 5 days starting at 120mg up to 160 or 200 on the last day

Littlemimosa, I found out about perimenopause from blood test, but I also did a home menopause test to confirm (super cheap in Wilkos)
I also knew from symptoms - wacky periods, tiredness etc

Cleozeta · 21/11/2017 10:22

Bloop - thankyou for the positive post, we really need that sometimes! And congratulations :-)

weasledee · 21/11/2017 12:20

Polly, we’re in very similar situations! I had a loss at 14 weeks due to patau also. Lots of pregnant ladies at work, quite tricky at the moment....

mueslihero · 21/11/2017 22:09

Positive post from me - I lurked on here for ages and posted once or twice under different name - I tried for a year and a half and was 43 when I conceived my first and 44 when baby arrived. Keep going everyone, I had given up all hope. I enjoyed finding positive posts in what were some very dark moments in the middle of the night.

littlemimosa · 21/11/2017 22:43

Cleo - did you have any symptoms other than tiredness and periods?
In what way did they go wacky?

Remember- thinking of you and praying it’s good news.

littlemimosa · 21/11/2017 22:46

Thanks muesli and Bloop for the positivity. It is great to hear over 40 success stories.
Did you both start getting changes in your cycles in your 40s? Did you do anything differently the month you conceived?

LuckyHappyMummy123 · 21/11/2017 22:50

So lovely to read positive posts - thank you mueslihero Smile. Also Bloop - I remember seeing that name Grin It really does give you a lift see positive outcomes x

Bloopbleep · 21/11/2017 23:59

littlemimosa the only difference with my lucky cycle was that I used the cbfm for the first time and didn’t take any supplements. My cycles started to go a bit wonky at 39 but all my blood tests said everything was normal and despite my cycle ranging from 19 to30 days it was considered regular as it came once a month. From 39 my periods became extremely heavy and painful then just after 40 they got more painful but very light and short. I noticed my hormones were out of whack when I shaved my armpits in the January and nothing had grown back by June but still the bloods said normal

mueslihero · 22/11/2017 06:03

littlemimosa I had pretty much given up and thought I'd give one more cycle my best shot, so I had a lot of sex during the fertile two weeks and to help me through that drank a lot of wine! The one thing I did do which I am convinced is what did it is have an hsg (where they inject blue dye into the tubes). The cycle immediately after that I didn't conceive but it felt like some gunk did come out with my ewm. It was on the second cycle after it that it happened. There was a lady on this thread who had been trying for about the same time as me who coincidentally had one at a similar time and also conceived the cycle afterwards.

mueslihero · 22/11/2017 06:04

Also - I had a low AMH!

Mackonadragos · 22/11/2017 09:52

Hello everyone, I was here a couple months ago, some of you might remember me, so I thought I pop back for an update.

My last post was about heading for an early scan as I was convinced that I had an early miscarriage. Well, it turned out to be a live fetus and now baby is 1 months old.

I turned 42 in July, (in my mid/and late thirties I conceived very easily) and it took me 9 months to conceive following miscarriages. However, the months I conceived I had a smear test and I started to believe that it made the difference. I read about how women fall pregnant when they had smear tests here on mumsnet, so I thought I gave a try. I will never know whether it was a coincidence or it somehow actively helped me. I have never came across any scientific research about it only anecdotal evidence but it might worth a try.

Another thing. Is anyone need some cheap One Step ovu tests? I have some 15 left and I am happy to post it. (Waste not want not.) (No need to give your name your address will do in a private e-mail.)

LuckyHappyMummy123 · 22/11/2017 10:42

Aww Mackonadragos - I remember you. Congratulations! Your post made me cry - what a lovely outcome for you and a story of hope for all of us x

weasledee · 22/11/2017 11:41

Congratulations Mack!

Mackonadragos · 22/11/2017 15:14

Thank you Lucky and Weasle!

Clarification. I meant to give out the ovu test for free (and free postage as well.) (You might have noticed that English is not my mother tongue.)

littlemimosa · 22/11/2017 19:53

Bloop and Muesli thanks for the info - that' s all very interesting.

Mack - congratulations and yes please to the OPKS! I'd love to take them from you if they're still available....i'll private message you:)

Cleozeta · 23/11/2017 09:57

Loving the positive posts, thanks ladies

Littlemimosa - my periods were wacky in varying ways! The first thing, before I know what was happening, was mid cycle spotting, and really seriously heavy periods, with clots. Then I had a cycle which went on for 7 weeks with nothing, followed by a 4 week long period. Since then I have been taking soy every month, which has so far, leveled things out a bit, but still getting the heavy periods followed by several days of spotting. Other symptoms were restless sleeping, anxiety, itchy womb (weird that one!), irritable bladder, and at certain times of the month sore boobs, nausea and bloating.
Sounds lovely right? Wish we didn't have to age!!

Polly99 · 23/11/2017 14:03

Yup, the positive stories are really nice.

Think I am 10 or 11 dpo, not holding out much hope. Boobs are sore and this time it only started at 7dpo but I am cramping and I feel like my progesterone is falling. Sigh.

My periods remain v regular, and they haven’t changed much. Were it not for the total lack of viable pregnancy in 7 years, you’d think all was normal. I almost wish that I had a defined problem - at least that could be (maybe) fixed... perhaps I should book a smear!

littlemimosa · 23/11/2017 18:36

Cleo - thanks for all that. They did go wacky! Now i see what you mean.
Glad to hear the soy is sorting things a bit for you. Might think about taking some myself.

Polly - I'm about the same DPO as you and my boobs are VERY very sore. It seems to get worse each month. I've tried to look at why it happens (Dr google obvs) but it's really difficult to get a straight answer. I think it's to do with the progesterone not being properly 'opposed' by oestrogen. So what does that mean?? I don't know, am I low on oestrogen? maybe - isn't that a thing as you get older? Or could it be toohigh? So basically i've no idea if my oestrogen is too high or low or if my progesterone is low (or indeed high!) Any thoughts anyone?

And like you Polly, I'll know if i'm pregnant or not in a few days without buying a test cos if i am the boobs will stay sore and if i'm not they'll ease a day before AF arrives. I suspect I know which one it'll be.....

Alibaba2 · 23/11/2017 21:54

7dpo is the secondary oestrogen surge and prog peak but not sure what it means by “opposed”.

I started the SI on cd3 (100mg) and took 150mg today (cd5). This is my first cycle trying SI. If it doesn’t work, I’ll start on cd4 next cycle as I’m trying to delay ov and get a more mature egg. Everything I’ve read says take on cd5-9 to achieve this but I guess that’s assuming a 28 day cycle whereas I’m a 25 day cycle so no idea when I should start. I’ll probably take 200mg on the last day.

I don’t know if I imagined but I felt less gloomy this month so maybe the phytoestrogen perked me up a bit!

Cleozeta · 24/11/2017 14:09

Does anyone know what brown ewcm means? Anyone had it?
Getting high on my cbfm now so that's a good sign anyway I hope

littlemimosa · 24/11/2017 14:42

NO idea Cleo. No never had it
Great news on your peak!

Sore boobs fading this afternoon. This means I’m not pregnant as progesterone is dropping off.
Feeling so fed up. Trying to get a GP appointment.
