Thread 26. TTC #1 - Calm as a hysterical cucumber

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

Here's our Grad's Thread. May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

On my way to work - alarm went off at 5.15am whilst I was having a lovely dream Angry

InspectorPenguin · 06/03/2017 08:16

Excellent Sk1pper! I really really hope you don't need them in the end, but if you do then hope they do the trick.
Crossing fingers for you and Alexia and anyone testing this week.

I shall be arranging a Sainsbury's delivery for when we get back from holiday at the end of the month and will make sure it comes with Nanny State 🍻

Ouch Kwick :(

Londonjam · 06/03/2017 08:40

Thanks alexia
*
Kath* that makes absolute sense, you can't risk your health if you have other factors going on. Did they give you any idea how long the NHS waiting list is for you? I hope you won't need it - I think your results were slightly better than ours, and it seems that even 1% can make a difference

Kwick take care this week I hope you get some downtime - and yes we are really due some BFPs!

Thanks penguin we have a bottle of champagne lined up for completion 😬 that's a really good point about IVF allowance I'll check it

Our new home is right by a big Sainsbury's so I'm definitely getting involved in Nanny State!

Londonjam · 06/03/2017 09:01

Checked our allowance - we get one cycle with up to two frozen transfers. You can have up to two private cycles before this. If you have three or more then you lose your NHS funding.

One cycle!! Camden down the road get 3!!

WingingIt83 · 06/03/2017 10:49

How do you check your allowance?

InspectorPenguin · 06/03/2017 11:41

I know, Jam, it's such a lottery. Still, at least you get one. Aren't they scrapping NHS funding completely in some CCGs?

We get two funded cycles here, but I am sure that will be reduced before too long.

InspectorPenguin · 06/03/2017 11:42

Winging look up which CCG you are and then search for their IVF criteria. You should be able to find it pretty easily.

Kathrino · 06/03/2017 11:42

Jam, one of the houses we looked at a few months ago was in Camden and not going to lie, the 3 cycles was one of the major pros! We only get one fresh and one frozen transfer here. We can have one private go without any consequences but if we have two private cycles, we lose the frozen transfer. Like you, three private cycles means no NHS funding. I'm presuming the wait for NHS will be similar to yours and we're not even in the system yet so will be even longer for us to get started. I'm pretty relaxed about the fact that we'll probably end up going down that route. Apart from the money side, I'm quite excited in a way about getting started.

Winging, I think your GP should know. It seems stupidly hard to find the information on the web! I found it buried in some PDF on my CCG's website.

Kwick, hope you're doing okay. Any wake up that starts with a 5 is unacceptable in my book.

AlexiaB · 06/03/2017 12:02

Inspector that's some great info, it's nice you get two free shots at it. I had a look and I would get one free cycle. We will probably start with a private medicated IUI anyway as we have no MFI. Yes everything is good here, I've really needed his love and support this week. Enjoy your holiday, would love to see some photos!!

How are you feeling skipper? I had a big breakdown on the phone to my mum last night. I remembered my friend's son turns 5 tomorrow and another friend's son just turned one on the 4th (I remember crying when she announced her pregnancy). It's unbelievable how much time has passed! My mum's been really supportive lately though which is nice. She lets me moan and cry to her whenever I need to, she even asked me about my temps/chart which was lovely. I just don't get why it's so hard for some of us? I'll admit it, I'm bitter.

Thinking of you kwick. Be kind to yourself today and definitely excuse yourself if it all gets too overwhelming. Flowers

Good luck to all of you doing IVF. It's a big, brave step but it'll be so worth it in the end Flowers

I just checked my local trust - city and hackney - I think you get 3 tries? Seems unfair to have such a difference between areas. Would they know if you've had ivf abroad?

I HS last night which means we HS on days 1, 5 and 6 of FW. Really frustrated to have missed the middle but had no choice and only takes 1 I guess. Here comes the tww! Is anyone with me?

sk1pper · 06/03/2017 13:29

Alexia - sorry to hear you're still finding it tough, I've been through the wringer with my emotions - I have a calm acceptance right now and I hope it lasts. Normally TTC would be the first thing I thought about after waking and the last thing I though about before going to bed, but my mind feels healthier right now. I don't have close friends and family announcing pregnancies and births like you do though, that sounds really, really tough. I hope you find some inner peace soon, don't blame yourself - that is key. You do deserve it and it will happen.

AlexiaB · 06/03/2017 14:37

Thanks skip. Glad you've found that calm acceptance, really hope it lasts. It's the best place to be (other than pregnant!). I had been doing 'ok' before my wobble last night. I'm just a massive overthinker and I never forget dates and things, so I find it hard to forget and let go e.g. it's now been 2 years since we bought our family 4x4 car and I still have no baby in the back or bump on the way! I've not cried today though which is a result.

You still have it well covered Harriet, LSFX!

Okay... chill is gone. Hysterical goddamn cucumber that I am, I broke down and tried an OPK last night. It came blazing up right away like this. (The one on the left). The other two are from Saturday. No sign of AF (due today), or PMS.
Waiting to test together with DH, but.... aaah!

Thread 26. TTC #1 - Calm as a hysterical cucumber
Kathrino · 06/03/2017 15:17

Ooh Smitten, that looks v positive! Are you testing tonight or waiting until FMU tomorrow? Keeping everything crossed!

Flashinthepan · 06/03/2017 15:40

That's a very good sign Smitten and if it's as strong as that on an OPK, should be a nice positive on a pregnancy test.

AlexiaB · 06/03/2017 15:51

Yep looks like you're pregnant Smitten Grin

I'm using a FRER when I get home too. I like to know sooner rather than later these days.

sk1pper · 06/03/2017 17:40

Yeah BFN here. And literally wiped afterwards and BOOM red spotting!

harrietm87 · 06/03/2017 17:47

Oh no skipper sorry. Great pic though.

Looking good smitten!

harrietm87 · 06/03/2017 17:48

Ps smitten what dpo are you?

glitteryvibes · 06/03/2017 17:53

congrats smitten i am sure the hpt will show a bfp for you!!

officially in the 2ww and already have the one sore boob like last month. must be a new post ovulation thing for me...

sorry about the bfn skipper how many dpo are you? any chance its not the start of af and just to early for the bfp?

i just checked the ivf in my area out of interest and its still 3 cycles here (but if youve had 1 private you get 2 and if youve had 2 private you get one and if youve had 3 private you get none) but i remember their being massive talks and petitions last year about ivf funding being scrapped completely.

geeup · 06/03/2017 17:55

Gutted for you skipper. Sad

AlexiaB · 06/03/2017 18:13

Oh skipper I'm so sorry SadFlowers Isn't that early for spotting? If it makes you feel better Smitten encouraged me to do an opk and it couldn't be any whiter! Lol

That is shit jam but at least you get some funded.

Flowers skipper what a fucker Angry

Had an awful day. Treating myself to taxi home, another early start tomorrow. Barely hanging on right now.

sk1pper · 06/03/2017 18:46

Glittery - thanks for your positivity, but no sorry. This is very normal for me.

Alexia - ah mate, no way! It doesn't make me feel better - at all. I was actually just wondering where the fuck my spotting was, normally start 3 days before. Since yours is an opk, im hoping it just hasn't shown for you yet xx
