Oh that looks like a lovely line Loxy. I can see your fingers are crossed, mine are too that this works out for you. Good luck.

pandarific · 06/06/2017 08:15

Congrats again Loxy, that's really strong!

Nothing on the one step tests with fwd alas - seems I did flood the test. Oh well - now come on AF, I want to start again lol!

beautyisfoundwithin · 06/06/2017 09:54

Congratulations Loxy, a BFP when you weren't even trying! My fingers are crossed for you too.

Sorry AF got you basset. I feel your pain on the cramps, mine are the same, I know exactly what you mean about not being able to stand up straight sometimes. It's awful.

Your moan is totally understandable Baguette. Better to let it out here than build it up and unleash it on the next unsuspecting person who asks about children! Although they would certainly learn that it can be a sensitive question!

Hoping for a positive test for you panda, and failing that hopefully AF will show up so you can start again.

alicealice123 · 06/06/2017 12:35

Hi all! Can I please join? You all seem like such a lovely knowledgeable bunch. My DP and I are only just starting to try and there's so much to learn :O

Just wondering what most of you do to chart your cycles - temperature, OPK (and if so which brand seems to be the best?)

Oh and the stats....

Name: Alice
Age: 31
DCs: 0
TTC: Mid May - just started the journey...

Loxy4527 · 06/06/2017 13:43

Hi Alice ! Welcome :)

I've never done temp charting but I was using opks. I got a big pack of cheap ones from amazon and they work really well for me :)

bassetmum · 06/06/2017 17:29

Hi alice!!

I use opks from amazon too. I have a thermometer but as I dont sleep well its not too helpful for me.

Loxy that looks like a good line.

Baguette i havent had any form of gynae checks. I spoke to the dr before Christmas re my horrendous cramps and all I was told was its normal just take painkillers. Ibuprofen a few days before af would be due. I was like I'm ttc so cant really risk ibuprofen. At least I now know to avoid that gp.

OP posts:
beautyisfoundwithin · 06/06/2017 20:27

Welcome to the group alice! 👋 I have also not done temp charting but have been using OPKs for the past couple of months. Never got a positive OPK yet though which is a pretty disappointing.

Omg basset I feel like a total fool but I haven't heard anything about not taking ibuprofen when TTC?? I always take it for AF! Is it really bad?

bassetmum · 06/06/2017 21:33

I've read something about miscarriage and ibuprofen. I take it once af is here but it works better if you have some in your system before the cramps kick in. But with all these things. They cant tell you either way if medicines are okay or not in pregnancy as they can't ethically test on pregnant ladies.

OP posts:
beautyisfoundwithin · 07/06/2017 21:58

That makes sense basset. I only really take them once AF is here so maybe it's ok?

So it's CD1 for me again today. And DH has been really argumentative/in a bad mood. Not sure whether it's something to do with another failed attempt or if it's just a totally unrelated grump... Either way it's not helping.

JeNeBaguetteRien · 07/06/2017 22:40

Sorry Beauty, be kind to yourself, CD1 sucks big time. I'm sure it's okay to take the ibuprofen while you actually have AF, just not ideal to take them as a preventative measure until you're sure you're not pregnant. (Even if you did I'm sure the amount would be minimal).

Welcome Alice. Like Basset I don't temp, I'm a light sleeper and don't fancy setting an alarm to temp. Though I might do at some point, just think it would be more of a stress to me than useful.

So tired tonight don't think I'll manage to DTD (did last night so that'll have to do).

Loxy4527 · 08/06/2017 08:26

Sorry to hear that, Beauty the whole process does put on a lot of strain, I hope you're both feeling more united soon xxx

Took another FRER this morning - I can't imagine it can get any more positive, the line came up the second the urine hit it and is just as dark as the control line. I've never ever seen that before Shock Grin I think I've hit the limit of what the FRER tests can tell me. I've got a CB digital with weeks indicator that I'm going to save for monday morning - that's when I'll be heading over to the doctors.

This might actually be it. I think I'm finally letting myself get excited and hopeful.

JeNeBaguetteRien · 11/06/2017 10:36

Hope all is well Loxy and everyone else. No news here, having a quiet weekend, CD19 so too early to drive myself crazy symptom spotting and ignoring weird cramps which are probably wind! .

bassetmum · 11/06/2017 19:14

I'm hoping its a good sign loxy. Sorry I have been MIA been to family party up north this weekend.

Well we may have an interesting turn of events with my health. My thyroid has swollen up on Friday night Sad its gone down a bit since then but doing some research I have a whole range of symptoms to suggest a thyroid problem. One of the biggest things linked to thyroid issues - infertility. Going to make a drs appointment on Tuesday. Just feel like crawling into a ball and staying there forever. It wouldn't surprise me if it is something as I've have had a range of auto immune things in the last eczema, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and alopecia.

OP posts:
JeNeBaguetteRien · 11/06/2017 19:57

Hope you enjoyed the party Basset.
It sounds like you've been through a lot healthwise. Make sure you leave the Dr's appointment with a plan to get your thyroid tested, and ask for the figures when you get the results (not just "normal" or whatever). Perhaps this is a step closer to your BFP if you do have an issue that can be resolved. Fingers crossed for you.

bassetmum · 11/06/2017 20:12

The main scary thing is if something is wrong and the only treatment is radioactive then that will put ttc on hold for 6 months post treatment. They took blood last year for some blood pressure problems so hopefully there will be levels from that test to see any change.

OP posts:
JeNeBaguetteRien · 12/06/2017 08:46

I don't know anything about treatment options Basset, maybe once you have results you could start a thread to see if there's anyone in a similar situation...good luck.

Loxy4527 · 12/06/2017 18:31

Sorry you're having a rough time health wise, Basset I hope there's an alternative to the radioactive treatment but at least there's hope that at the end of it all you might have better chances trying.

I'm almost embarrassed to say but I've made it to 5 weeks. I'm still pregnant Shock I filled out a referral form for the midwife today, couldn't get a doctor to see me but I think that's okay for now. It's sinking in for DH, he's going into over planning mode "So will you need one of those pump thingies? Do you want me to clear out the office? How many onsies will we need?" those are all legit questions he asked me in a five minute period. I had to tell him that I can't think that far ahead yet, I'm just focused on each day as it comes.

So yeah, I guess I'm entering lurk mode now! I want to stick around to see how you're all getting on and watch the BFPs roll in one by one, however long it takes xxx :) Flowers

bassetmum · 12/06/2017 20:10

Congratulations loxy. I am quietly cheering for you here.

Im hoping to get a drs appointment tomorrow morning as I am going to Scotland for work tomorrow afternoon. I was doing so research on google (i know i shouldn't) but i think I have a few symptoms - I'm permanently exhausted, my hands shake, I am constantly warm, my skin, nails and hair is brittle and then obviously the swollen thyroid.

Thanks baguette I am pre programmed to think the worse of everything.

OP posts:
Loxy4527 · 12/06/2017 20:40

Basset You're right, I know it's hard to stay away but you shouldn't listen to Dr Google. I've just remembered that a friend of mine I don't see often has thyroid issues and I don't recall her ever mentioning radio therapy, I know she's on a lot of pills. The point is everyone is different, there's no use in trying to diagnose yourself. That's the doctor's job xxx

beautyisfoundwithin · 12/06/2017 21:16

Thanks for the kind comments when AF arrived guys. She's left the building now and things are back to normal with DH and I. Though we are both exhausted from work so not sure how we're going to manage to find the energy to HS!

I will bear it in mind about the ibuprofen, I usually only take it when AF is here, but also sometimes for other pains which maybe I should avoid.

Sorry to hear about your health concerns basset. Good luck with your appointment, I hope you get some good news and that you won't need radioactive treatment.

Congratulations Loxy. Really pleased for you!

Piehunter · 14/06/2017 10:07

loxy I want to squeal but I will calmly say fingers crossed lovely, I so hope this is the one!

eva glad things are still going well for you, hopefully the MS is mild for you!

baguette thank you for thinking of me! Hopefully the HSG will do it's magic?! I guess if one tube is iffy it might mean that you're only getting a chance every other month? Do you have more investigations booked?

It seems possible I have endometriosis from my scans and I'm having gynae follow up regarding that. Unfortunately I also had some crap news regarding my autoimmune condition and an abnormal brain scan, just waiting on a 3rd opinion now but it brings it back to me that my condition is potentially life threatening/life limiting and it's sent me into a bit of a nosedive and we're taking a break from ttc. I'm enjoying not waiting for AF/hoping it doesn't turn up and feeling a bit more in control. We're at a year now and I'm so done. If I were to get pregnant it would be very high risk with high chance of miscarriage, late loss, stillbirth, premature birth and pre-eclampsia and I just can't cope with it right now. Plus I don't know how I feel about having a baby I may not be around to raise/I could pass on my crappy health. Actually trying to decide whether to go back on the pill as I've had 3 periods in 6 weeks and my emotions are everywhere! Feel in such a different place to just a few months ago, my brain has gone into self preservation and I don't feel broody at all, just occasionally sad, 2 friends are due babies in the next month and I don't know how I'll cope at all. So sorry for such a negative whinge!! I keep my fingers crossed for you all and do lurk from time to time WineFlowersWineWine

Loxy4527 · 14/06/2017 19:09

Thank you pie it means a lot to me. I'm sorry to hear of your health concerns, you've had such a tough time of it all. It sounds like taking control over your body is the right thing for you right now. I know it doesn't compare and I'm not going to spout the "when you stop it'll happen" crap but I know I felt a great deal of relief when I was tasked with not trying last month. It allowed me to feel normal and closer to DH, (thus our happy accident) and took away that 2WW anxiety. What I'm saying is whatever makes you feel better and in control, do it. Much love to you, x Wine Flowers

bassetmum · 17/06/2017 12:11

Im sorry to hear about your health pie. Sounds like you are making the right choice for you.

I do have an overactive thyroid. Had blood taken at 12 yesterday and the doctor rang at 6 to tell me. Got another appointment booked for first thing Monday morning to get things sorted. Think we are going to have this month off ttc. I am in no mood to even attempt dtd. I feel like I can sleep for a week and I am a right mardy cow.

OP posts:
JeNeBaguetteRien · 18/06/2017 11:02

Hi Pie, sorry to hear how difficult things are. I'm not sure of your exact condition but is there any specific support group, or could you access counselling to talk through your diagnosis. I know that can't change anything but it's a lot to cope with at a young age. Will be thinking of you.

Glad you are getting somewhere Basset, it's a step in the right direction.

Hope you're less tired Beauty. My job was so full on this week, I sympathetise.

Loxy hope things are going well.

I decided not to test today. CD26 and was getting carried away thinking if I got a positive it would be a fab father's day gift for DH but then I got a grip and thought it's too early and looking at that little white window is so depressing.
Enjoyed the lovely weather yesterday, sat in the garden with DH and a few wine spritzers. Fertility doctor said don't cut out alcohol completely, so I haven't. Just trying to enjoy life and stop with the TTC obsession.
Have a good day all.
