Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Hep - is your AF early? Sorry I can't remember and sorry it's arrived. Flowers I'll be joining you soon, I like we've synced slightly.

Pyjamas - put it this way, I was told as soon as I feel able to DTD to get to it! You are extremely fertile after the procedure, it's half the reason they do it CD7-10 as a last punt. It's a test but it's also a cure (but they can't say it's a cure as there is no medical evidence - no official study has been done on it)

Pyjamas81 · 16/01/2017 16:25

Ah thanks skipper - I'll be on CD7 for Friday's appointment and FW starts on Saturday, so hopefully perfectly timed! Mustn't get hopes up (hard not to).

Hippychic79 · 16/01/2017 16:42

Great PMA Hep xxx

Tonks - I agree with flash - not sure one session of either treatment would be enough.

Xxx

HepKestrel · 16/01/2017 16:44

skipper normal for me is 29-33. So I had a 30, so fairly regular.

macsworth · 16/01/2017 16:48

Thanks london

Your PMA is great hep

tonks I practice acupuncture (for pain relief as a physio, not for fertility) and it's great for relaxation. If you're only having one session, I'd try a time it well. Maybe around ovulation? Sorry, don't know much about reflexology.

geeup · 16/01/2017 17:11

Tonks - I've tried both. If I understood you correctly you'll be having a course of either acupuncture or reflexology (not just one appt) but just not both! I think reflexology is mainly about relaxation so if you suffer from stress that's the one. Acupuncture is believed to right certain hormone imbalances via body's energy lines (as well as being relaxing) so if you're looking for something to "fix" maybe try that one? HTH.

Supper16 · 16/01/2017 17:30

Had a smear test this avo and nurse said I had a 'long vaginal vault' Grin She had to use a longer speculum that is only usually needed with tall ladies (I am a hobbit-like 5"2). I got excited and wondered if I'm ovulating but she didn't seem to think it would make that much difference. I've never been able to find my cervix myself wherever I am in the cycle, so maybe it's just an anatomical quirk.

Gave me and DH a bit of a chuckle once I told him though Smile

Flashinthepan · 16/01/2017 17:53

tonks following on from Macs perhaps speak witj who you're seeing an explain you can only have 1. They may make recommendations based on that.

Flashinthepan · 16/01/2017 17:55

Oh gee that makes much more sense! In that case tonks I'm biased and would say go with acupuncture but that's only because I have it and love it!

harrietm87 · 16/01/2017 17:59

Only skimmed the thread but congrats miw!!! Will catch up with the rest later!

kwick · 16/01/2017 18:07

Ladies calm down!!! This is me on a reduced travel schedule - day trip to Brussels - no plane, no heavy lifting. Ok?

That is the spirit jam!!!

flash I was told by FC that ovaries and tubes are fully mobile - infact both tubes try and get released egg each month - so if you only have one tube (like I only have one ovary) it should not make much of a difference?

hep Flowers It has been an honour and a privilege to have known you for a year. You are still in post MC fertile boost land so I have my LSFX for you!

miw thank God I am catching up on thread - had I been live your photo then disappearnce would have been most disconcerting!!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!! StarStarStar
Now please test tomorrow with FMU and a FRER!

Welcome mrsc and adriana!!!

This is fab news peaches!!!

mac news on brother sounds encouraging Flowers

sk1pper I hope work sent you home early! Why on earth have you gone back so soon? Angry

pyjamas I had to wait for my next cycle after hycosy - due to risk of infection but may be different as doing iui.

Welcome miri!!!
What a journey you have been on already! You may try another thread I am on which is all about donor IUI and donor IVF - if you search #makeithappen you will probably find it Grin

tonks I would go with whichever relaxes you more! I do not find acupuncture that relaxing but way beats having someone touch my feet - which I find excruciating!!!

Great pma hep Flowers

Right need to make a move, more to follow (15.31)

kwick · 16/01/2017 18:22

Looks like I am all caught up!!!

I am nearly home!!! Just caught like a tinned sardine on train to Finsbury Park - but so much quicker than a cab. Am shattered!

Tonks87 · 16/01/2017 18:28

Thank you everyone for your help. Yes I meant either acupuncture or reflexology. Sorry for not being very clear! I'm leaning towards acupuncture. My appointment is on CD15 so it's good timing for ovulation.

Good luck for Friday pyjamas and fab news peaches on your successful docs trip.

Sk1pper I'm only 4 months in and I'm already super bored if it. Goodness knows how I'll cope if it goes on another 6-12 months. DH is getting frustrated too. I think the novelty of lots of DTD is fast being replaced with 'has it worked yet'.

Welcome to anyone new.

Flowers and hugs for anyone that needs it.

OrangeCloud18 · 16/01/2017 18:41

miw Congratulations!

Supper During my smear test, my doctor could not find my cervix!
She made me move in different positions to try to find it, it hurt so much at the time but now looking back I found it quite funny!

I'm having bad cramps today but still no AF.

geeup · 16/01/2017 18:47

Kwick omg I've been ttc for 22 cycles and didn't know despite endless googling and obsessing that your ovary wasn't connected to the tube. Just googled it and found out "The small gap between the ovary and the end of the corresponding tube allows the egg to float freely in the abdominal cavity after it has been released from the ovary. The fingerlike ends (fimbria) of the fallopian tube sweep across the surface of the ovary and wave the egg into the tube after ovulation." Insane. My bloody eggs are probably all lost and floating around my abdominal cavity Hmm

kwick · 16/01/2017 19:10

I know geeup!!! Get this - your womble is pretty mobile too - except bit connected to fanjo. That is why when they do the insemination/embryo transfer you have to go in with a full bladder (yep ladies, imagine lying legs akimbo with speculum up the fanjo with a FULL bladder) so that your womble lies flat and they can get maximum aim for magic potion/embryo. CRAZY!!!!

Kathrino · 16/01/2017 19:24

I had no idea that the tubes and ovaries weren't connected either geeup...I clearly wasn't paying that much attention during biology lessons at school Blush With all of the mechanics involved, I find it hard to believe that anyone manages to conceive at all!

Supper, well I guess that's something to be proud of!

Glad your brother is doing better macs.

Good work on the PMA hep. This will be your cycle Flowers

Pyjamas81 · 16/01/2017 19:27

They're not connected?! WTAF. This explains everything - all my eggs are floating about in abdominal space.

CarleyColie · 16/01/2017 19:49

Thank you Kwick, got some ordered today so hopefully get to grips with them soon!

Winging your BBT story did give me a chuckle! Grin

Congratulations Miw! Lovely news for the start of the week Smile

sk1pper · 16/01/2017 19:51

gee and Pyjamas - HA HA! Repeat after me, our eggs are not floating around in the netherspace/void region of our bodies!!

I've had really painful boobs since ovulation and now its died almost an instant death. I'm trying to look in Clue to see some pattern, and sometimes it stops a few days before AF and other times it doesn't. I've certainly never had boob ache for such a prolonged time before though. I'm not saying I expect a BFP, quite the opposite, I'm just saying that there is absolutely no repetition or common ground with my symptoms.

sk1pper · 16/01/2017 19:54

Look at this boob ache!

Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP
kwick · 16/01/2017 20:02

Ladies I know the repetitiveness of TTC can become monotonous and also mind numbing as you learn to protect yourself from horrific disappointment if another BFN.
But just a couple of plus points for those of you doing it au naturel:

  • apart from OPKs and HPTs you do not have major outlays
  • you get to have loved up times with OH (unlike my way whereby scanners/speculums are shoved up my fanjo, I have to stab myself, and so on)
I say be grateful for the small things Grin
HepKestrel · 16/01/2017 20:27

True kwick but you don't have to worry about drunken speculums, or grumpy scanners......Grin

kwick · 16/01/2017 20:34

hep good point, well made Grin

Mrsbluebell17 · 16/01/2017 21:03

Thanks Binky, although I wouldn't wish this on anyone it is reassuring to hear that someone else has been through this. Bleeding is still there but (TMI alert) more brown than red now and a lot lot less than it was Friday and Saturday. Counting that as AF unless I learn otherwise so now onto CD4 today.

Great news for you miw!

Fingers crossed for you all! X
