Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

peaches
Been over a year now
Conceived Feb 2016
Mc may 2016
(hep im on the year mark too Sad)

Been to my doctor appointment and he was lovely. I gave him very brief history. He said that's OK do you want me to get you a referral put through for help at the fertility clinic. Uh, yes! Haha and that was it. I'm getting all the blood work done so it's there for the clinic when I get my first appointment. I had a scan done after my mc so he read through the consultants notes and said everything looked fine but he would note this and I should be given more internal tests (in hycosy) if all my bloods return normal. Feel like a huge weight has been lifted of my shoulders and the help is there. Will be 2/3 months to see fertility nurse and get all my tests complete then another couple months to get started with consultant. So I will spend that time stressing less and concentrating on getting as healthy as I can. I had loads of stuff ready to argue with but he was soo nice I didn't even need to. He said to me obviously you have done your homework Smile. That's in part to all you fabulous ladies right here Smile.

jam sorry to hear about your troubles with your DH. Men! I completely understand how angry and upset that made you. Do you think he is taking this harder than he is letting on hence the drinking? Maybe he is trying not to put too much on to you given that it's been an extremely hard time for you recently? I'm sure things will work out fine, just a little blimp in the road. We have all had them. Enjoy your class.

mwi congratulations!! Get more tests asap!! kwick will be on soon to make sure you get yourself a frer to wee on GrinGrin

flash no, but it seems quite common, many ladies mention it on here. As kath said maybe take them later on. I'm sure one of my packs said take them with food.

pug you are NOT letting anyone down!! When I was in hospital after mine one of the midwifes said take a few weeks to grieve. This is a significant thing to go through. She felt rushed back to work and said she should never have jumped straight back in to it. She was right and I am really glad I listened. Be kind to yourself, especially given your line of work. Peaches8Posies · 16/01/2017 11:04

Got loads to catch up on. Hi to all the newbies Smile.

Peaches8Posies · 16/01/2017 11:07

sk1p how's the wrist? Are you off work? Hope you are taking it easy Flowers

alexia FlowersFlowers here whenever you need me.

Rushing off, will catch up more later on when I'm rushing about less. Sorry if I've missed anyone.

So sorry alexia and pug hope you're looking after yourselves Flowers

Presh88 · 16/01/2017 11:54

Just to let everyone know the double packs of frer tests are 6 quid in Asda! Maaaay be tempted to do one tomorrow as period is due Friday and can't stop thinking about my potential implantation pain over the weekend!
Congratulations miw! How many dpo are you?

sk1pper · 16/01/2017 11:59

Peaches - what a lovely appointment you had, it is tough to find a good (and friendly) GP - I went through 3 GPS to get referred, OH wasn't impressed with the last one but although he did bumble and mumble, he was by far the best and got my referral so quickly. He also was the GP that told me to chill out and stop using opks/temping. Best advice a GP has ever given me. Good luck! I'm back at work, wrist is okay thank you xx

Anyone vets bored of TTC? I realised that Saturday when I tested and got a BFN, it doesn't even phase me anymore. Chucked it in the bin within a minute, thought casually "what a waste of money" and then just washed my face and got on with my day.

miwelaisjacydo · 16/01/2017 12:02

I have no idea how many days post ov I am because I haven't been paying attention to anything because I didn't want to get hopes up.

Hep 💐I know it's horrible the TTC journey. Nobody I mean nobody can prepare you for the trudge that is TTC.

Still haven't text DH yet will do a frer later and tell him then.

Binkybunny13 · 16/01/2017 12:09

Glad your appointment went well peaches- fx you don't need the consultant appointment and that your body beats you to it!

Hep Flowers stay strong

And miw what fantastic news! Wishing you a stress free pregnancy

I'm just heading to book a gp appointment to talk about my long weird cycles (much easier to walk in than ring, never get through 😬), hoping they have something soon to stop me self diagnosing!

geeup · 16/01/2017 12:37

Hey all. Need to go through this enormous thread to catch up but placemarking for now.
Gee
Aged 34
Cycle 22
MFI
Starting IVF soon (March tbc)
Sooooo bored for ttc and yes skipper - totally numb to feelings now. Tested yesterday morning then wiped to find pink blood. Threw test away and got on with day. No tears. No drama. Just shit.

Kathrino · 16/01/2017 12:48

Yup, sk1pper, I'm totally with you. Dull as shit. I don't expect anything other than AF to arrive these days. We're still going through the motions when it comes to TTC but it seems rather futile. Can't imagine ever seeing a BFP - it's something that happens to other people but not me.

Great news about the referral Peaches, I'm so glad you didn't have a battle on your hands and hopefully your appointment will come through quickly!

And good luck with your appointment Binky, I hope they be able to give you some answers.

macsworth · 16/01/2017 13:03

Hi all,

Mac
Cycle 6
CD 26
AF due latest 24th so not testing before then.

Been AWOL since joining the thread as still coping with my brother in ITU. This has without doubt been the worst week of my life. We think he is now out of the woods now although will be on ITU for the next couple of weeks.
Have no hope for this cycle due to the stress. Just concentrating on family and then doing everything right for cycle 7.

Haven't really had the chance to catch up with much. But wanted to say pug and alexia, I am so sorry for what you have both been through. I hope you begin to feel stronger soon.

Also 💐 hep. Try a fuck it day.

Pyjamas81 · 16/01/2017 13:15

Congrats *miw!
*
Am on on cycle 8 and I'm right there with you skipper - it's getting to me and boring me all at the same time. On the upside - HSG is booked for Friday (they're going to try and get me in on Weds). My next FW kicks off on Saturday - hopefully I'll be back in business by then and not too sore! Does anyone know how long it takes to recover?

MiriAmmerman · 16/01/2017 13:16

Thanks for new thread.

DP and I are a lesbian couple having IUI; DP is the one actually having the treatment (I am infertile following cancer treatment).

Stats:
I am 31; DP is 33
Cycle 5 (3x BFN; 1 ectopic pregnancy).

We had our insemination treatment on Friday, so currently on day 3 of another agonising 2ww. We will have been trying for a year in March, and April is when our lost baby would have been due. It would be nice to have a BFP before those anniversaries, but don't know how much to dare to hope.

DP is healthy and appears to have no fertility issues, but we have been advised that if we don't achieve a viable pregnancy with 6 IUI cycles it's unlikely to happen for us that way. So, if it's a BFN this cycle, we'll have one last IUI in February, then move on to IVF. We're hoping it doesn't come to that tbh but who knows.

Fingers crossed and Flowers to you all.

Tonks87 · 16/01/2017 13:29

Massive congratulations miw. What lovely news to brighten up Blue Monday!

MiriAmmerman · 16/01/2017 13:40

Oh and huge congratulations miw!

Tonks87 · 16/01/2017 13:46

I have a quick question that I was hoping someone could help with?

I have booked an appointment with an acupuncturist/reflexologist next week. The appointment will begin with an initial consultation before moving on to either acupuncture or reflexology. It's quite expensive so I'll only be doing the one. Does anyone have any thoughts on which one is best?

Londonjam · 16/01/2017 14:02

Hugs hep hang in there 💐💐

Congratulations miw! What cycle no was that?

Hurrah peaches glad you've got your referral that sounds really positive. I've got my appointment on 2 March so we can compare notes

Londonjam · 16/01/2017 14:03

Skipper yes definitely bored! OPK s now especially

Londonjam · 16/01/2017 14:03

Sorry things have been so tough macs glad your brother is starting to show signs of improvement 💐💐

Hippychic79 · 16/01/2017 14:39

Welcome Miri and fx for you xxx

Tonks - I have weekly acupuncture and reflex every 6 weeks. I would say acupuncture however it does vary from person to person. I know its expensive, but I find its really helping in terms of relieving period pains and encouraging hormone flow and ovulation. Enjoy - let us know how you get on.

Good luck with your referral Peaches.

Hugs & Flowers to everyone going through crap time right now

xxx

HepKestrel · 16/01/2017 15:31

yup. cd1

ok .... PMA.

My cycles are regular.
I know my body.
My dad is doing great after his health scare.
I have gorgeous cheeky nieces and nephews.
OH has reduced his drinking to non holiday levels.
I am going running and getting slowly fitter (c25k w4r3 today)
I go a bfp last year, and there is no reason i won't get another one.
I even tried making my own pineapple smoothy, and it was drinkable !
Career wise, it is much better that I don't start maternity leave until december - then it will be a good time.
I told another friend in rl we are ttc-ing. She had major fertility issues (4th time lucky ivf)

ok..... my pma needs work.....

Flashinthepan · 16/01/2017 15:35

Tonks I've been having having acupuncture weekly and am finding it really helpful. Don't know much about reflexology. Not to be doom and gloom but what I would say is that one session of acupuncture is unlikely to achieve anything, as my acupuncturist said "it's not a miracle cure". If you can only afford one session I might suggest saving your money and doing something like getting a massage etc if you're looking to destress.
