Thread 24. TTC #1 - It's been a tough start to the year but 2017 is still the year of the BFP

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

It's not been the best start of the year for most but we're still trying to keep it PMA Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

kwick its true it's not as bad as 50 percent, I was told by the doc that the remaining tube catches the egg from the other side about 35 per cent of the time. But only 66 per cent of people who've had an ectopic have a uterine pregnancy within a year of trying. So it's not all doom and gloom by any means but things are less in my favour than they were.

And technically your egg could be floating around! Around 5 per cent of ectopics are not in a tube and that 5 per cent includes abdominal and other non uterine places! So some must not get caught by a tube and go floating off. Very rare though.

Thank you ladies. Didn't get much sleep last night think I spent half the night gearing myself up for a battle. Thankfully it didn't come to that. A couple of things he mentioned. Don't stress if my day 21 bloods don't come back positive straight away. You need to be bang on 7 days from the start of your period to get peak results and as most women's periods vary by a day or so at least, it's not unusual for them to try again following month just to make certain they are getting the right information. I said I was now 37 he said that's OK (lol) although fertility does peak and drop don't get overly hung up on it just now. Bloods booked based on af arriving on time next week but fingers crossed I don't need them.

kwick glad you had a much less stressful trip and now back home.

miw are you weeing on another stick in the morning? You should see a nice set of lines.

sk1p i have 4 gp's. One is a write off, second is quite new and I've never had much dealings with, 3rd is lovely lady but quite hard to push for tests etc... don't get me wrong she's a fantastic doctor but there's no persuading her if she's set her mind to something. My bet on gp 4 paid off haha.

But you are right girls it can be soo hard if you have an unsympathetic gp. This is hard enough with out banging your head against a brick wall to get helpSad.

WOW biology 101 tonight! Now have strange visions of floating eggs hiding were they shouldn't be! Grin

miwelaisjacydo · 16/01/2017 22:15

Hi all yes am guna test again tomorrow morning but have only a Tesco own brand one left. Not a frer.

I have everything crossed for tomorrow.

Kwick glad it was only a day trip to Brussels for you. We just wanted you saw and sound that's all.

Peaches8Posies · 16/01/2017 22:18

pyjammas fx you are one of the lucky stats and it works for you!

Glad things are happier macs

Welcome miri looks like quite a few of us are going down the route of assisted conception always good to share good tips.

supper never heard of this! Does explain your 'hidden' cervix though lol. Seems you need long fingers if you have a long vault Grin

Going to get my finger out and try and see my friends new born!! She will start to think Im not fussed to meet her baby and that's unfair!

Peaches8Posies · 16/01/2017 22:19

miw you will be fine. Looking forward to good news in the morning x

Londonjam · 16/01/2017 22:31

Lovely PMA hep that made me feel better so I hope it helped you

Skipper a few cycles back my boobs stayed sore all the way through until a few days into my period. I so got my hopes up as every other month the boob pain goes before AF. Bloody boobs!

What's all this talk of disconnected wombles my heads spinning...

Flashinthepan · 16/01/2017 22:52

I totally missed mumhs bfp on the end of the old thread. Congratulations!

My surgeon kindly showed me and my family photos of my womb, ovaries and fallopian tubes. I'd only been round from the anaesthetic about an hour and there was definite head spinning!

Flashinthepan · 16/01/2017 22:53

My mantra has become never trust the boobs. It's quite calming if you say it a few times in your head.

Pyjamas81 · 16/01/2017 22:58

I've never had sore boobs ever in my life - bet that's symptom of the month this time around like spotting was this month (first time spotting ever)!

I also need to go and see a friend's newborn peaches - doesn't help that they live ages away and would have to stay with newborn all weekend! We can do it 🙂

GimbleInTheWabe · 17/01/2017 00:35

So blue Monday started so well.. went into soho with DP and got some delicious lunch together then on the bus home I got a call from my sister regarding my Nan. My nan has Parkinson's and has been ill for a while, she's 90 now so had got to a ripe age but sis rang saying that shed taken a turn for the worse. I Pretty much turned straight around and headed to my family home to be with her. She's so poorly and its hard to see her struggle to breathe.

Sorry if this post is a bit of a downer. My only PMA about it is that she really wants to go, i hope this doesn't sound heartless, and hopefully she'll finally be able to rest. I know this isn't the right forum page for it but I only comment on this thread and felt like i needed to get it off my chest. DP is being amazing about it all too.

OnNaturesCourse · 17/01/2017 02:03

Gimble... you and your Gran are in my prayers tonight. May this time be as peaceful as possible. Hugs to you xx

sk1pper · 17/01/2017 04:12

I feel for you Gimble - I'm close to my Nan so can imagine how horrible this must be for you. What a ripe old age though, she must be an amazing woman.

I'm here at 4am to say CD1. Cycle 18. And fuck. My. Life.

sk1pper · 17/01/2017 04:24

I've actually got to take a break from MN right now, I knew I wasn't pregnant because of the cyst and the fall and everything but I am starting to doubt it's even possible for me. It should not be taking this long. Good luck to any other testers, hope you have more luck than me xx

Pyjamas81 · 17/01/2017 06:21

Sorry gimble - thinking of you and your gran 💐

And 💐 for you too skipper - af is such a bitch, even when you're expecting it. When are you planning HSG? Sorry if you've already said that before.

miwelaisjacydo · 17/01/2017 06:48

So used a Tesco test and it was BFN. That said it said on the box to test on day of period not sooner. So well there is hope right? A positive is a positive right? Am pooping my pants

miwelaisjacydo · 17/01/2017 06:50

Gimble 💐

Kaydee2017 · 17/01/2017 06:58

Morning everyone! Having a quick catch up, sorry to anyone I've accidentally missed!

Miw massive congrats!! Hope you can get your hands on an frer today!!

Pyjamas hoping all goes will for you on Friday!! And hope you have a free weekend to make use of the benefits, after the paracetamol! Fx it's not too painful, but good to be getting it done!

Peaches fab news on your GP getting things going for you Grin

Macs, so glad your brother is doing well! Flowers and for skipper and gimble, so sorry blue Monday was true to its word for you guys Sad

CD5 for me, AF on the way out so practice for FW due to commence!!

Oh and also, Shock that tubes & ovaries aren't connected, genuinely, if it wasn't already hard, how does anyone manage to conceive?? Hmm

Right onto my Tuesday, taking some of heps PMA with me (until about 30 mins after I get there, then it will all go out the window & I will want to cry)!! Hope you ladies all have a good day Smile

HepKestrel · 17/01/2017 07:05

miw different tests have different sensitivities, so it could well be the tesco test is not sensitive enough. Get a frer for fmu tomorrow morning. You get false bfn not false bfp.

EJ2009 · 17/01/2017 07:06

sk1pper - big hug. I know there arent words for it any more x

Every time my phone beeps i think it's our friends saying their new baby has arrived. Im scared of visiting them as i know i will struggle after but they live in the same village as us so its not like i can pretend its hard to get there & put it off Sad

HepKestrel · 17/01/2017 07:06

So sorry gimble. Flowers

Binkybunny13 · 17/01/2017 07:24

Gimble sorry to hear your sad news. Hope she's peaceful and comfortable, and that your family come together at this difficult time Flowers

Skipper Flowers it's shit, I'm so sorry. Take some time out if you need- but know we will be here for you

Miw I think the Tesco ones have quite low sensitivity levels so best bet is to get a FRER to clarify. As others have said, false negative is much more common than false positives. Keeping fx for you

I managed to book an appointment with gp for next week to discuss weird cycle length (26/38/36/36days from 30-31 the 5months previously)..although only on 6th cycle if I have some thyroid, gynae or other issue (to add to my collection Hmm) would rather get that looked at before I get to the 1yr TTC investigation stage.

Kathrino · 17/01/2017 07:46

I'm so sorry about your nan gimble, my thoughts are with you and your family.

Flowers for you sk1pper, I think a few of us are in that same headspace as you. Take all the time that you need.

miw, definitely get a FRER if you can. I think Tesco tests are pretty unresponsive even compared to ICs.

kwick · 17/01/2017 07:51

miw don't get me wrong - I love the care and concern you ladies show for me - makes me feel very loved 💕

So if egg can float..and an ectopic can happen outside tubes then does that mean magic potion floats too? Shock

geeup · 17/01/2017 08:24

Flowers skipper. Take as long as you need.

kwick · 17/01/2017 08:27

Congratulations mumh!!!!StarStarStar

gimble Flowers I completely I understand - in the end when my Grandfather was hanging on he was in such a bad way it was a relief to know he had gone to be with Grannie. ((((Massive hug))))

sk1pper Flowers what a fuck bitch!
God speed to you - we will be gete with open arms when you are ready to come back.

miw please get a FRER Flowers

Right cannot delay further have to go for scan. Am shitting myself.
