Thread 23. TTC #1 - New Year, New Opportunities. Let's keep those BFPs rolling in!

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

Happy New Year! It's 2017 and it's OUR year Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Peachyteach · 10/01/2017 22:33

Flashinthepan
That's so insensitive...but then I find MILs are - I hope I'm not if ever get to be one!!

Most fertile phase now over - still no sign of ovulating!
Feel like I should do it every hour just to check.
Doing the BD every other day anyway...fingers crossed - I should now have started my 2ww...,who knows!

Kathrino · 10/01/2017 22:34

I am all for for boozy ranting. I sometimes venture into other parts of Mumsnet and it seems to be filled with people who had semi-unprotected sex for 2 seconds a week before they ovulated and now find themselves pregnant. Just how?! I also read a blog post today about someone's difficult 'journey' to conceiving their first child which took all of three months...

Sorry about your mum's comment Jam, it's so hard to know how to react to that kind of comment.

Flash, glad you're feeling relaxed and full of PMA. Onwards and upwards!

Miw, glad you've got some antibiotics now. I hope they kick on quickly and you start feeling much better soon Flowers

Pyjamas81 · 10/01/2017 23:09

I would be well up for a boozy rant! My mood has been absolutely terrible today - short tempered, generally feeling like everything is shit, totally relate to feeling like having children is something that happens to 'other people', nearly cried because I made a mess in the kitchen chopping up broccoli. Yep, reckon AF will be right on time 😒

Also relate to the insensitive DMs/MiLs - if my mum says "it's because you were on the pill for so long, I was never on that stuff and I found it easy", I'm going to drop kick someone 😡 Yes, because you would have been really pleased with an unplanned pregnancy when I was still a teenager 😤 Sorry, bit of a ranty self-pitying post there!

Sorry about AF flash 💐 have you got anything planned to distract yourself?

And good luck peachy!

MissyJones83 · 11/01/2017 06:03

Sorry about the AF flash Flowers

kwick · 11/01/2017 08:02

Angryto all the insensitive remarks from family members!!!

miw you poor thing - please take care and get lots of rest Flowers

May I join the boozy ranting (I will be on Becks Blue)?

sk1pper how are you doing? Hope you are resting up.

kathrino I read a thread yesterday where a lady is preggers and does not know who father is...I sometimes think I have problemsbut TBH compared to some of the things I read on MN my life is idyllic!!!

WingingIt83 · 11/01/2017 08:31

Sorry flash but fingers crossed your next cycle is more normal.

Hugs to jam it's tough enough dealing with this mentally without unsupportive comments and behaviour from family members.

So I've just come from doctor and the stupid one who ordered my bloods before Christmas didn't actually request the day 21 bit so they didn't do profile on progesterone etc. So got to have it done again next week.
Got a much better feel from today's doctor so will try and stick with her. She definitely felt more proactive.

HepKestrel · 11/01/2017 08:46

peachy i have a lovely MOL (mother-out-of-law).

on MN you just here rants about the bad ones.

WingingIt83 · 11/01/2017 08:49

Also, for anyone who did the Create sperm analysis and NHS one, are they the same or does the Create one test for more? As she said if Create looked at antibodies etc it might be worth sticking with it rather than cancelling and replacing with the NHS analysis.

colourmylife · 11/01/2017 09:04

wing that's so frustrating. Good that you have found a doctor you feel more confident about.

On top of my pink/light brown watery spotting on Sunday night at 8dpo I've had constant dull cramping ever since and felt a bit weak. Thinking about testing today at 11dpo. I'm going to come crashing down if it's a bfn as I do feel different. I suppose it's still early though!

Good luck to everyone else testing soon.

HepKestrel · 11/01/2017 09:20

LSFX for you colour

Flashinthepan · 11/01/2017 09:28

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling good mentally, I actually feel like I've taken a step forward.

Me too Hep re MIL, she has foot in mouth syndrome sometimes but she means well and loves me like a daughter.

I've going to start using OPKs this month, does anyone have a recommendation? I've looked on Amazon but no ideas which to go for.

Flashinthepan · 11/01/2017 09:29

Good luck colour. Signs sounding good though!

Miranda234 · 11/01/2017 10:47

Fx for you colour

Flowers Flash glad you're feeling positive though

How annoying winging but glad you have found a better doctor now

Do any of you ladies have any advice on exercise in the TWW? I run twice a week and swim once a week, I'm by no means fast when I run but I do push myself, is this something I should cutting back on in the TWW or does it not matter? My mum is going in for a hip replacement today, I'm trying to stay calm about it but am getting increasingly anxious as the days going on!

Fx to anyone testing soon

harrietm87 · 11/01/2017 11:21

miranda I've wondered that too. I went for quite a long run the day after my last bfp and then started bleeding that evening (my chemical pregnancy). All the stuff I've read online says that it wouldn't have been affected by exercise but I still worry! Interested to hear what others think.

alexia any news??

HepKestrel · 11/01/2017 11:22

Miranda The advice is that any exercise you do before getting pregnant, you can continue into your 1st trimester. The exception is things like kick boxing...

in fact exercise is good for pregnant ladies so continue whilst it is comfortable.

harrietm87 · 11/01/2017 11:23

Ps speaking of MILs/parental pressure...my MIL has been knitting baby clothes for her future (still non-existent) grandchildren for YEARS. She has boxes full! Thankfully hasn't mentioned it recently.

Flashinthepan · 11/01/2017 11:38

Miranda Harriet I'm with Hep. I have read so many posts of people wondering if something they did or didn't do caused their MC or other complication. I beat my parkrun PB in the 2WW of my ectopic pregnancy while bleeding, although at the time I didn't know I was pregnant. My feeling is that it is natural to try and find a reason, and normal to feel like you are to blame because your body is housing the baby. But that blame is never deserved and there usually is no reason why it happened so you should do what makes you feel happy and healthy.

Flashinthepan · 11/01/2017 11:40

Oo thanks Hep, they are going in my Amazon basket as we speak.

MissyJones83 · 11/01/2017 11:44

miranda hope all goes well for your mums operation my mate had a hip replacement last year and it has changed her life! She can do so much more now. It's natural to be anxious when it's someone you care for but they do these ops all the time so it should all be fine Smile. Also my other friend exercised to some extent all throughout her pregnancy (well until she wasn't too big) and had no problems I think there are limits after first trimester but I am sure excersising is fine early on. As with anything even if you are not preggers or trying you should only do as much as you can handle i.e. not feeling like you are about to collapse!!!

HepKestrel · 11/01/2017 11:45

Also, exercise helps with stress which is the main thing to ry to reduce ..... yeah, cause thats easy ! Hmm

I am back on course with my c25k, (w4r2 completed for the second time), and I am off to yogalates this afternoon.

MissyJones83 · 11/01/2017 11:45

Fx colour

Flashinthepan · 11/01/2017 11:57

Good work Hep!. I'm hoping to start yoga from next week as an add on to running/torturing myself with Jillian Michaels' DVDs.

AlexiaB · 11/01/2017 12:35

Quick update. I'm not bleeding but my temp has dropped very low and ic's are now showing nothing. Amazon have decided to take all fucking year to deliver my frers but I know I'm out anyway. I'm absolutely devastated. I'm sick to fucking death of this shit. I actually feel suicidal and I know I need to get some major emotional help. I can't do this anymore. I wish you all the best but I'm taking a break to try and find myself again Flowers💔
