Thread 23. TTC #1 - New Year, New Opportunities. Let's keep those BFPs rolling in!

AlexiaB · 02/01/2017 16:29

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

Happy New Year! It's 2017 and it's OUR year Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

london sounds like he has been over thinking things. Perhaps rather than off load to you whilst you have had your gran and your own worries about ttc, he has just had a blow out. I'm sure you will have a good chat and sort things out very soon Flowers.

I don't really watch eastenders much now, but tuned in to see how they would kill off roxy and ronnie. Not going to lie jack breaking down crying got me Sad. Poor kids Sad
O
In other news, got a stronger line on my Opk this afternoon so expect it to go positive tomorrow. Shall carry on with my plan to dtd tomorrow. Maybe Wednesday too? Worth going for 3 day's in a row?

Peaches8Posies · 09/01/2017 19:11

Aww mac i hope he wins his fight. Seeing lived ones in that position is truly hard. Sending positive thoughts your way Flowers

Peaches8Posies · 09/01/2017 19:13

alexia Fingers and toes crossed for you. Wish this was soo much easier on us all Sad hugs xxFlowers

Peaches8Posies · 09/01/2017 19:14

Sorry for all the posts, my app is really lagging and I'm missing posts. Don't want anyone thinking I'm not reading or ignoring them Smile x

Peachyteach · 09/01/2017 19:22

Thanks Hippychic - I may just book one - worth finding out and keeping the PMA up. My friend did a visualisation board and bought some babies booties and the BFP happened.
Sk1pper - PCOS symptoms have been since I was in my 20s at uni. I was meant to have s scan but I left the area and my doctors never picked it up as I needed to go back on the pill - I had acne (roacctuane sorted that) v irregular heavy periods, excess hair. I do have lots of symptoms for ovulating - EWCM and tender boobs etc etc but never tested for LH - I guess this month I will find out. Testing in the morning around 7.30pm and around 6.30pm when I get home - might I be missing it?
Does anyone take them to work and test there?

MouseLove · 09/01/2017 19:26

No early scans booked kwick. Although I think I'd like one but on the other hand I'd like to wait till 12 weeks. I'm now chanting "have faith in my body" lol. Never stops does it. 🤓

Kaydee2017 · 09/01/2017 19:27

Thinking of you mac & alexia Flowers

Peachyteach · 09/01/2017 19:35

**Alexia - sending positive vibes your way!!
**Sk1pper - sorry read about your crappy day after I sent my message...sounds like things are progressing.

Keep wishing I'd paid more attention to my cycle off cp then I'd know when I ovulated.

Ovia keeps changing its mind saying I've passed my peak day - BBT chart shows me nothing either. I'm sure I ovulated later on - I guess we'll see soon enough.

Well that's Monday out of the way at least.

OrangeCloud18 · 09/01/2017 19:49

mac I'm really sorry, I hope that your brother will be alright!

Guys, I see a lot of you talking about age and fertility so here it is and I hope it will reassure some of you : my mum had my brother at 38!
Now a few years later, she thought she was having menopause so went to the doctor for some tests. Turns out it wasn't menopause and she is still super fertile! She is over 40 (but less than 50), so I really would not worry about age!
Hope it makes some of you feel better!

sk1pper · 09/01/2017 20:23

Mouse - just a padded splint, the break isn't too bad and to be honest I've hardly noticed it - just worried about my cracked eggs.

Charley - HSG should be 10 days after my next period, so a few weeks to wait yet. At least it will be before I next ovulate...

Alexia - it is not going to go tits up, you've got this. I don't blame you for worrying so much about it, it probably seems too good to be true after all the shit you've been through but you do deserve happiness so yes it's possible it could all go wrong, but consider for a second that it's also possible it could all go right xx

Kwick - I was told just to take a couple of paracetamol, but what do you think I should take? I can't take co-codamol as it makes me throw up. You must let us know how your scan goes + pics! I probably wont know what I'm looking at but I'd like to see your beautiful blob/bean.

Pyjamas - Take them 1 hour before, otherwise you'll feel everything. It's to numb the pain during the procedure...sorry if that scares you.

Macs - Oh god ITU? Sending all my best wishes and love - really hope he's out soon.

Peaches - you ovulate 24-48 hours from the +ve OPK I think so can you DTD tonight, that gives the sperm enough time to get where they need to be. Wouldn't hurt doing it tomorrow and Wednesday though.

Peachy - I'm sorry think I've been getting confused between you and Peaches. I'm not an expert but I don't think you are meant to test in the morning for opks...well you can but its not very accurate I think. I used to test when I got home from work (around 5:30pm) but it cant help to take one to work if you have a inconspicuous receptacle you can use.

kwick · 09/01/2017 20:29

pyjamas definitely BEFORE the procedure - this was my big mistake with my Hycosy - I did not realise it would hurt like fuck so did not take painkillers until after. Stay away from Ibruprofen and Aspirin - stick to paracetamol.

peachy I have tested at work!!! By the way having PCOS does not mean you will have issues TTC but I am a big fan of Inofolic - which i only discovered a few months ago.

Alexia keeping my fingers crossed for you.

kwick · 09/01/2017 20:32

All that Eastenders talk and I forgot to watch tonight's episode!!!!! What am I like?!

Going to bed soon - need to go in extra early to make up for today at work tomorrow....

Pyjamas81 · 09/01/2017 20:39

Thanks for the painkiller tips skipper and kwick! Paracetamol it is - don't want to risk the codeine affecting everything. Sounds like it's going to be a delightful procedure 😰

Eastenders was brilliant tonight kwick!

Peachyteach · 09/01/2017 21:11

Thanks Kwick and Sk1pper - I gave a 'high fertility' smiley 3rd day running - no positive OPK as yet...

What time is best time to test for LH?

Binkybunny13 · 09/01/2017 21:38

Just a quick message as I need to catch up properly but...

Macs so sorry about your brother. I used to work in itu sometimes and they are blooming brilliant. I hope he continues to improve and this horrible time is soon s distant memory Flowers

Skipper omg please look after yourself- rest up and hope you feel better quickly. Fx that hsg helps re: pain and TTC- take care in the meantime lovely Flowers

And alexia Flowers I truly hope that this is just worries in your head, and you have the most boring, uneventful pregnancy ahead! Am keeping everything crossed for you, stay strong

I'm officially cd3 now (cycle 6) and test date is Feb 10th. Am making a gp appointment to discuss long cycles when back home, as if there's something going on like thyroid issues etc want it dealt with sooner rather than later. And fertility diet restarts after Christmas and holiday break! All recommendations of supplements, foods, potions etc welcome!😂

sk1pper · 09/01/2017 22:03

Kathrino · 10/01/2017 09:30

macs I'm sure your brother is in the best possible place for him. I hope there's good news soon Flowers

Thanks for the link sk1pper and the book rec kwick. I go back and forth on the issue of fertility 'diets' not least because it seems so rubbish that some people just get pregnant at the drop of a hat whilst doing all the wrong things and some of us have to work so fucking hard to even get a sniff of a BFP.

Hope you're feeling better this morning sk1pper and are not even thinking about going back to work anytime soon!

Jam, I knew to avoid ibuprofen in the TWWo but it's the only thing that touches my period pain. Should I not be taking it at all then?? Crap!

Hope you're doing okay today Alexia.

Welcome newbies!

Londonjam · 10/01/2017 09:41

Kath I'm pretty sure it's not great for it. I used to take mefenemic acid for period pain - which is another nsaid - but the wise kwick pointed out we shouldn't be taking those. I'm not sure why. Heat really does help an awful lot, have you tried heat patches?

I stumbled across an article on the guardian this morning written by some cow who said "a part of her died" when her baby was born. Ffs. Completely spiralled me into despair and tears at frustration of my infertility. I realised I've disconnected trying from actually getting pregnant. It's just something we do now, like bashing our heads against a brick wall. Pregnancy feels like a mythical, unachievable goal. I might as well be trying to grow wings and fly over the house.

Right I'm going to make a cup of tea and give myself a slap! As you were.

lexilou86 · 10/01/2017 09:46

Hi all,

I wonder if you can help.. this is round 3 of TTC baby number 1
I was recently told I may have polysistic ovaries, got a blood test next week to check I ovulated.
We were away this weekend with family so unable to DTD and it should've been my fertile week. I did an OPK on Friday a.m and it was negative, didn't test again and Sunday night it was very positive- couldn't DTD on Sunday either :( tested Monday a.m still very positive, then after work Monday evening the line was very faint and we finally DTD late last night, tested again this am and cant see the line, my question is have I missed this opportunity? Would I have ovulated throughout the day? so by the time I got home its too late? I know the chances with BD only once but if I've missed it then I can get on with the month.
TIA

harrietm87 · 10/01/2017 10:21

london I read that article too. I actually thought it was quite good - honest about how hard pregnancy and birth can be. I think she was trying to express how her life was totally changed by having a baby - I guess she could have phrased it by saying she was reborn in her new life rather than that her old one died though! But she clearly longed for her baby as we all do. Strangely I was quite encouraged - made me think I can do this!

HepKestrel · 10/01/2017 10:21

lexilou you can ovulate upto 48 hrs after the positive opk, so I don't think you have missed it, you should have had peak fertility for sunday, monday, tuesday.

so dtd again tonight, and you should have two rolls of the dice this month. LSFX for you.
