Thread 23. TTC #1 - New Year, New Opportunities. Let's keep those BFPs rolling in!

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

Happy New Year! It's 2017 and it's OUR year Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Poppet8583 · 09/01/2017 14:21

Hi all, hope I'm not too late to join? I'm new to this so bear with me...

I'm 31
TTC #1
Cycle 2
CD 32

Period is currently 2 days late and Ovia says I should test on Wednesday but obvs I couldn't wait so tested this morning and it was negative. I don't know why I did it! Feel like I've had a few symptoms but not sure as I'm just getting over a bladder infection and a really nasty cold (which came out of nowhere).

This TTC stuff is tough right?! Ahhhhh

kwick · 09/01/2017 14:30

Welcome poppet!!!
I have never used Ovia but many on here will tell you that it is a bitch-app!!!
Sorry about BFN - cold and bladder infection probably impacted ovulation.

jam why thank you dear lady!!! I am rather proud - I actually created a photobook for my family if our journey with it and gave it to them on New Years Day. I plan to do the same for next nine months and beyond only that will be for moi!
Don't know if yoh have seen these women who take a picture of themselves each week of pregnancy... only I already look 12 months pregnant... but its a laugh! Shit I am already so invested... what will I do if I have another MC?

On a different note: just got caught up with Eastenders...!!!!!!!!!!! So sad... but I never did take to either... I would sure like to comfort Jack though!

HepKestrel · 09/01/2017 14:38

welcome poppet!

Pyjamas81 · 09/01/2017 14:44

Welcome poppet! I used to use Ovia then switched to Fertility Friend. Ovia is prettier, but Fertility Friend better at picking up ovulation (if you temp) in my opinion and Ovia used to tell me every symptom I put in may be a pregnancy sign - not what I need in TWW! Others do get on better with it though 🙂

Oh my - Eastenders kwick - such drama! Just saw a preview snippet of tonight's on Facebook (yes, I'm that sad). Don't worry Jack, you can cry on my shoulder!

samram91 · 09/01/2017 14:48

yea I have a double womb :)

kwick · 09/01/2017 15:09

pyjamas I am afraid to say that I got there first!!! Jack is all mine - besides don't you already have a man?!

Ladies sudden wave of nausea... had to get up for meter reader and feel most unwell... will take as a good sign.

Wow sam! Please explain more!

kwick · 09/01/2017 15:13

Am treating myself to a viewing of "Love Actually" - love that film!!! I have actually been to a wedding reception in the same place as where Kiera has hers before she gets on boat. #claimtofame

Poppet8583 · 09/01/2017 15:15

Thanks for the welcomes ladies! I downloaded the FF app too but not quite sure how it works yet... I've heard mixed reports on Ovia and I agree on your thoughts Pyjamas, it doesn't matter what you put in, it tells you it "could be an early pregnancy symptom or PMS". Great!

Just reading through the thread, good luck to all of you waiting to test. We haven't been trying long but I'm surprised at how much I want it to happen - I thought I'd be more relaxed about it but NOPE!

WingingIt83 · 09/01/2017 15:30

I really should download FF but complexity and cost putting me off -how much is it and what level of access would I need?

I use ovia but ignore her estimates of FW etc and just use it for my bbt chart and to record dtd and ewcm

Flashinthepan · 09/01/2017 15:40

I've jsut started using FF Winging on Alexia's recommendation, the main app is free. I think the thing I'm finding worst is that it if you are not accurate or don't give full info consistently, you might read something wrong into your cycle even if there isn't anything, but I think once you start doing it full on I think it will be useful.

Kaydee2017 · 09/01/2017 15:43

I tentatively signed up for FF but not temping or OPKing, just keeping track of CM, symptoms & tracking AF, but seems simple to do that so far!

I get what you mean as well jam, my DH thinks it's nailed on for cycle 1, despite my efforts to educate him otherwise - need to try harder on that I think!

Lastly, Kwik your allotment in the sun is making me want to go outdoors, stupid work Angry

sk1pper · 09/01/2017 15:48

Hi ladies, sorry to bomb the thread (haven't had time to reply to anyone) but thanks for all your well wishes.

Unfortunately, have spent the best part of today in hospital. Decided to ride out increasing pain and bleeding at work because I'm incredibly shy and don't like to make a scene and collapsed about an hour into my shift (yes, im a fucking idiot).

I've had the usual scans, pregnancy tests for ectopic, physical exam and treatment for my wrist which I fractured when I fell. At one point they wanted to cut me open to check it all but I told them they didn't have my permission to remove anything so they just gave me something for the pain and monitored me for a few hours.

They seemed quite worried at one point, but I knew it wasn't an ectopic. Anyway, going home now and bleeding has stopped. Cycles a bust again I guess.

Will reply to you all individually once I'm home.

Flashinthepan · 09/01/2017 15:53

Skipper so sorry to hear you've had such a crap day! Glad that they've ruled out certain obvious risks but awful that you've got a fractured wrist on top of it all!

Londonjam · 09/01/2017 15:53

Oh skipper you poor love, what a scare. Was it a cyst then? Please take care

Kaydee2017 · 09/01/2017 16:06

So sorry skipper, hope the pain subsides soon and you're able to rest Flowers

geeup · 09/01/2017 16:10

Oh god skipper you poor thing. I'm so sorry you're going through such a traumatic time - it must be really scary just not knowing what's going on. I do hope you feel better soon and they can get to the bottom of it.
Samram - sorry it's taking you so long. I'm on cycle 21 and hoping to start IVF in March so understand a bit of what you're going through. There's a few of us on another thread called something like Trying for 18 months, considering IUI/IVF/ICSI which you may find helpful too.
Glad all still going well Alexia, Kwick, pug (and anyone else I've missed).
Hi jam - Flowers I understand the frustration re OH having a bender. I have no advice except everything you've done (talking through) but I have to say I'm kind of resigned to what will be will be. I don't know how much drinking and caffeine etc really makes a difference. I just think with low morphology it's just the way it is and it's hard to change. You just have to hope for one little swimmer that can make it against the odds. I hope that helps and doesn't upset you - I just mean try not to stress over what may or may not help or hinder. Don't let ttc come between you and your OH and ultimately friends and family. Stay strong lovely lady.

Kathrino · 09/01/2017 16:10

Oh sk1pper, you poor thing. That sounds terrible and must have been so terrifying for you. I hope you're able to rest and recover at home, take good care of yourself FlowersFlowersFlowers

kwick · 09/01/2017 16:10

Poor you sk1pper Flowers well done for sticking to your guns on not giving permission. Did they scan you? What are the next steps?
Please take it easy and take care.

May I just say if that was me with Rodrigo/Karl in Love Actually I would not have answered the phone!

Flashinthepan · 09/01/2017 16:13

Oh god Kwick that scene makes me want to throw things at the TV. 'Love Actually' is one of my favourite films, me and DH watch it every Christmas, it's tradition!

Musicgrrl · 09/01/2017 16:17

skipper how awful! You're a bloody trooper for working through your shift like that but please take care of yourself! Hope work is good to you now and gives you some time to recover. Did docs make any conclusions from their observations? Rest up my lovely! BrewCakeFlowers

kwik love your observations re love actually and jack in eastenders. I'm with you on both.

HepKestrel · 09/01/2017 16:32

skipper Flowers that sounds awful !
take it easy at home and stay away from work

I prescribe* [beverage] and Chocolate, (warm) feet up on the sofa and really bad films.

Hope you get answers soon.
