Thread 23. TTC #1 - New Year, New Opportunities. Let's keep those BFPs rolling in!

AlexiaB · 02/01/2017 16:29

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

Happy New Year! It's 2017 and it's OUR year Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

jam hoping it was a one off blow out, that maybe he's taking things a little harder than he likes to let on. It's very much a male way of dealing with things. A one off won't really impact too much. As others have said I would imagine that constantly drinking would be far more detrimental to sperm quality. Hope things are OK otherwise, it's a hard time for you just now sending you hugs Flowers

sk1p hope you are feeling better this morning. I agree very strange that's 2 incidents of pain/cysts in a year when it's not been an issue before. Do you think that your health kick, suppliment taking is maybe just clearing up what was there already? They say sometimes things get worse before they get better? But yes I would definitely be bringing this up with the gynecologist. Maybe there's something they can do to help sort this out and help get your bfp quicker Flowers

kwick your dinner sounds lovely. Now I'm in the mood for Mac and cheese Grin

Hopefully everyone's Mondays are quick and painless. Although watching Meryl Streep's speech this morning fair cheered me up, good first her taking a stand!

HepKestrel · 09/01/2017 10:03

Flowers tonk
loving your pma though.

kwick · 09/01/2017 10:25

mouse I will come over but need to get through early scans first ok? 🤞🏼

Spent nearly 2 hours trying to get on a bus this morning... gave up and am taking a day's vacation - although there are a couple of things I need to do. If I had had presence of mind I would not have left laptop at work on Friday!

sk1pper you are going to Drs today right? You should mention bleeding also.

Welcome peachy!!!
I would recommend getting a PCOS diagnosis asap. Google "Inofolic".

Sorry about af tonks Flowers

peaches YOU ARE NOT TOO LATE!!! If I am not at 42, how can you be?!

Flashinthepan · 09/01/2017 10:28

jam feeling calmer thanks. Still can't help feeling that the weird cycles are a bad sign but also trying to remind myself that things can change after a big bodily upheaval even if I was only pregnant for about 5 mins!

Peaches you're right, it will happen for all of us. And I know what you mean. I've been basically caffeine free since may last year. And alcohol free since new year. Sometimes it's tough not to just dive into a vat of caffeinated tea or a bottle of wine!

Is it irresponsible to be trying when I'm still having spotting? Or should I just go for it and hope?

Kaydee2017 · 09/01/2017 10:47

Morning all Grin

Glad all is still going well pug, alexia, mouse & kwik

Mouse I am hoping to follow your lead - I am CD29 first cycle off the pill with no sign of anything, at all! Although quite happy to have a shockingly long first cycle if it means a BFP on cycle 3, that's how it works right? Hmm

Lots of PMA for a Monday morning Grin

MissyJones83 · 09/01/2017 11:14

Loads to catch up on!
Tonks sorry AF arrived, great PMA to have I started the new year like this and long may it continue. Google is BAD do not look at it, it can tell you all sorts that can make you more stressed out than you need to be!

Sorry skip Flowers your pain sounds awful hope it gets better soon. Are you going to docs?

Welcome peachy. If you are concerned about PCOS I’d go speak to doc now and explain you are TTC and want to get it sorted…if anything it will get the ball rolling if it needs to be, it might not and you might get lucky this month with a BFP!!!

jam sorry to hear you had to put up with your DH and his binge especially when you are going through a loss. It does sound like he needed to get it out of his system and as long as it is not like every day/ week then I would just let this one go – he has prob learnt his lesson from your texts messages and chat and hopefully he will be more considerate of your feelings in the future.

pug love the line news!!!

alexia I was hoping to see your update yesterday kept looking but then went on a mammoth walk and for a meal and fell asleep as soon as I got home so missed it! PMA on the temp still high and I think that’s a good attitude to have re not testing until 14/15 it’ll drive you bonkers otherwise! Also looking good on the longer LP this month as well.

harriet let me know how you get on with your OPKs I did the same and went out and got some Clear Blue ones but now heard mixed reviews – I guess everyone is different so it sounds like it works for some and not for others, fx they work for me!

kath flash flowers and lots of PMA to you

Sorry if I've missed anything or anyone !!!

My AF has finished so can start having lots of fun this month Wink

Peaches8Posies · 09/01/2017 11:22

flash i was chatting to one of the gp's at my surgery last year when I was pregnant and gave her the list of things I've cut out. Her opinion, I'm living like a monk and it's not necessary Confused. She is very much a big believer in happy mind happy body. I'm having a cuppa with a sweetener. It's either that or its a blinding headache and pain killers so tea wins. I have literally done everything by the book and no bfp since May so if you are up for it and the spotting isn't heavy or uncomfortable then go for it!

I had myself pegged for ovulating either today or tomorrow. Done an Opk yesterday had faint second line so should be right on course. Dtd this morning will go tomorrow as well and do more Opks so I can make sure it goes positive.

kwick thank you. My BFF has told me to pull myself together his neighbour has just had her first at 43. aAything is possible is you want it badly enough. Grin

To been informed OH has broken the cat litter tray, emergency dash for me for new tray.

HepKestrel · 09/01/2017 11:42

peaches to add to kwick that i had a bfp at the age of 37 last year, so you are not alone !

macsworth · 09/01/2017 11:57

💐 tonk I had the same no googling rule this cycle. So far so good but only just hitting tww to fairly sure I'll fall dramatically off that wagon

jam I'm so sorry about your OH. As others have said I think constantly binge drinking is worse than a one off. I know it doesn't make it any better though! My DH is fine when I get him to do or take something. He's embraced yoga and I've got him taking vitamins and royal jelly. But the minute I ask him to not do something he gets funny, we have a bit argument a couple of months ago about him spending 2 hours in a hot tub with his friends when we were on a weekend a way, he just didn't get it.

skipper the cyst sounds really painful. I hope the gynae can give you some advice.

Had a horrifically stressful weekend, my brothers in hospital at the mo so was there all day yesterday with my family. I think the stress of it all has delayed my ovulation. Carrying on DTD as it's proving a good distraction.

Flashinthepan · 09/01/2017 12:05

That is reassuring Peaches. In my heart of hearts I know if it's going to happen it'll happen. I just wish I knew why I had gone from having totally normal periods to having this weird spotting. And it gets worse after sex. But sex doesn't cause it. For the first two weeks after AF I never have any bleeding, no matter how much sex (oo er!) I have. But once the spotting starts, if I have sex I also get like a rush of red blood (sorry TMI).

Maybe I should go and see the GP. I just think they think I'm worrying unnecessarily.

Flashinthepan · 09/01/2017 12:07

How are you jam? Hope you're feeling a little better.

Late congrats to pug and alexia.

Flashinthepan · 09/01/2017 12:08

kwick how are you doing? Do you think you will/want to keep your allotment going?

Pyjamas81 · 09/01/2017 12:08

These mid/late 30s ttc stories are really comforting - I've been having a minor meltdown over last couple of days about turning 36 soon!

10dpo here and nothing - really don't think this is our month.

Sorry to hear about AFs and skipper that cyst sounds dreadful!

DH and I have booked train tickets for our fuck it day hike and pub visit next weekend - if I get a bfp, it'll be a gentle walk and sparkling water instead!

kavanaughkj · 09/01/2017 12:42

You have nothing to worry about Pyjamas - I'm 38 in a couple of weeks and am currently 9+3 with a grape that's apparently moving from embryo to foetus in the next week. :) I did find my BFP came when I'd stopped literally breathing TTC as I did in the first 9 few months. I think I always fretted a little but after DH got his job (long period out of work was stressing me out) and after I forgot to worry about caffeine or whatever else it happened for me. First scan on Saturday so hoping against hope it sticks!

Kathrino · 09/01/2017 12:56

I think a lot of us are the wrong side of 30 Pyjamas and all the evidence I've read suggests that everyone makes this big deal about 35 being the cut off when it's really not true; the decline in fertility is relatively small until you get to your mid/late 40s. We'll get there in the end!

kav, lovely to hear from you and glad is all going well so far. FX for your scan on Saturday!

Flash, could the spotting to be do to where your cervix is during the relative phases of your cycle?

macsworth, so sorry to hear about your brother. I hope he's on the mend Flowers

Tonks excellent PMA. I am going to follow your 'no googling' rule. I've spent far too much time searching mumsnet and other forums for stories and it's just a waste of time. What happens to anyone else has absolutely no bearing what happens to us!

Welcome peachy!

Apologies to anyone I've missed too...

I have done a lot of adulting today (including my tax return and hopefully putting our flat on the market) but, most importantly, I've got a docs appointment from Friday to discuss why we're not having any luck TTC and to get the ball rolling with tests.

Pyjamas81 · 09/01/2017 13:14

Thanks kav and Kathrino - I need to stop stressing, and at cycle 7, I think I'm getting better! I'm not depriving myself so much, and I've stopped temping after ov - temps won't tell me anything AF won't a few hours later, I'd be getting my hopes up by now! So glad to hear all going well for you kav Smile

samram91 · 09/01/2017 13:29

HepKestrel · 09/01/2017 13:43

welcome sam! 29 cycles?

we have several people who are going down the IVF route, who I am sure can give you more specific advice than myself.

Sorry you have been trying so long, and don't worry none of us would dare say "just relax" !

All rants and moans are welcome here ! (I certainly have)

Have just tried to predict my next AF so I can book my overdue smear test...... well that will something nice to look forward to next month Angry

Flashinthepan · 09/01/2017 13:45

It looks incredible! Loving the shed. Plenty of fresh homegrown vegetables must be excellent for growing a healthy baby too! I guess that's the upside to early pregnancy exhaustion - a great excuse to take naps!

HepKestrel · 09/01/2017 13:45

kwick my sort of present !!! my garden is so neglected...... must remember to prune the roses.....

mac sorry about your brother. I hope he is being looked after well and on the mend.

kwick · 09/01/2017 13:49

kavan!!! how are you feeling? Best of luck with scan!

Well done kathrino!!! LOL adulting!! I guess I should be doing my tax return but just CANNOT get up the energy... want to schnooze some more!!!

Welcome sam!!!
I have done 2 rounds of IVF and 7 of IUI - ask away!

Oh and BTW the way I am not in the photo of the shed!!!

Sorry tonks great PMA though 👍🏼

Peaches you know I think he is struggling with it. I really think he expected it to happen more easily than I did. When I get my period he says "You are joking " like he is totally surprised. I like the sound of your GP!

It must be so frustrating having to wait flash. Is there any official advice ok spotting after mc?

Enjoy getting back on it missy Wink

Hope it goes well with the doctor skipper and the pain is easing
