Thread 23. TTC #1 - New Year, New Opportunities. Let's keep those BFPs rolling in!

AlexiaB · 02/01/2017 16:29

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

Happy New Year! It's 2017 and it's OUR year Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Thanks for the hugs and love. Had a good weekend. Just trying to think what will be will be. Trying the whole PMA thing. And hopefully acupuncture will continue to help regulate things as well as trying skippers suggestion of Fish oil and vitamin e. I think I'm having phantom pregnancy symptoms because I've been stressing so much. Going to start going to yoga for some relaxation. Hope everyone else's weekend is good/improving. Hugs to anyone who needs/wants them.

Musicgrrl · 08/01/2017 19:27

Alexia no spotting or AF is fab. I know because of your short LP it seemed like you should have a strong positive when AF didn't show but remember that a lot of people here hold off testing until 13/14dpo or even later so please don't be downhearted by faint like that early. Hope the distraction is going well Smile

EJ2009 · 08/01/2017 19:44

Jam yes i think i usually ovulate so hoping its a one off. I'm maonly concerned now with how long my cycle might be.

kathrino i was discussing something else with the gp recently & ttc came up. She has told me to go back in April with dh if no luck by then.

MouseLove · 08/01/2017 19:44

Alexia you trooper!! But really, stop temping. You'll drive yourself mad. That's still a really nice high temp. PMA PMA PMA. That line will darken. I know it. X

sk1p another cyst blow out? Are you bloody ok???? I wonder if you're producing multiple eggs each ovulation? X

Kath, your attitude is inspiring, I'm happy for you to get the ball rolling. It's one step closer! X

Kwick... can I have some of that mac and cheese please. My absolute favourite!! How are you feeling?? X

EJ, like the boobs, never trust the OPK. I didn't get a positive on my BFP cycle. X

AlexiaB · 08/01/2017 20:05

Music thanks for the pep talk Smile I agree and that's why I haven't tested again and have been fine relying on my temps and no af. I'm 12dpo so want to wait to 14/15 to test again. Hope you're ok?

Lol Mouse I know but it's comforting atm. I'll keep going until I see a nice strong line. How are you feeling? Xx

So I spent about £45 in boots on clear blue digital opks today (still not cheap even with 3 for 2) EVEN though I have about a million cheapie opks already. Why am I such a sucker?? Has anyone used them and are they any good?

AF still in (very) full flow but getting prepared!

AlexiaB · 08/01/2017 20:09

Harriet I used them for 2 cycles and hated them. I never got a peak reading even though I ovulated (confirmed by ic opk and temps). I think it's because my surge is short and typically happens in the afternoon. They have worked for others on here though so fx they work for you. Back up with ic's if you can. They're also ridiculously expensive, feel like I should have just burned £60 instead.

I suppose if it's having a positive effect then you keep temping. I'm guessing you'd stop once you're happy with your test?

I'm ok, not feeling much different but having cramps. Some bad but short ones on Friday. Then had a mini panic with my clear blue dud test. I'm still showing 2-3 but I'm not worried. This is normal. I just need to keep focused and positive (in every sense.) x

Let us know if you decide to test again!! X

AlexiaB · 08/01/2017 20:24

Mouse oh yeh don't worry about those digi. They're notorious for messing people around and causing undue stress. I think you're right on track :) Are you having an early scan to get dated? I want to join the grads but I'm too scared I'll jinx myself

OP posts:
kwick · 08/01/2017 20:27

Alexia hang in there!!! Bloody hope AF stays away!!!

mouse I am struggling to keep my eyes open... think I will have (another) early night. How are you feeling?
Macaroni cheese went down well - I also make signature sides of oven toasted tomatoes with garlic cloves; wilted spinach and mushrooms with red wine and parsley. Normally have left overs for days - but I was more restrained this time and it is all gone!
Macaroni cheese not as nice as usual as bro has got even stricter and can only use vege cheese - so no gruyere or emmental.

sk1pper · 08/01/2017 20:49

Macaroni cheese is my death row meal. Love it - yours sounds delicious Kwick - especially with those veg sides xx

MouseLove · 08/01/2017 21:03

Oh Alexia, when you come over to the grads can you gently coax kwick with you too. No jinxing exists, PMA PMA! I feel fine but DH has noticed I'm going to the loo more, I'm in laalaa land really.

I really fancy mac and cheese now. Sods lol

EJ2009 · 08/01/2017 21:17

Mouse - thank you for the positivity. I got the opk & ewcm but nothing after, i.e. temp or symptoms to indicate it ever took place. I have a lot of post ovulation symptoms usually

Pugmummy87 · 08/01/2017 22:03

jam sorry your DH has been a bit of a douche. As others have said though, men don't always think about things like we do and maybe he just doesn't realise. I would think that sperm would be more affected by regular drinking rather than the odd night out, but I'm no expert. Hope you manage to have a chat with him.

Flowers to kath and Harriet

kwick your macaroni cheese sounds lovely. Hope you are doing OK.

Good to hear from you alexia. I think it's a positive sign that your temp has stayed up and I'm sure you will get an obvious positive test very soon.

I tested again this morning and the test line is definitely darker than 2 days ago and slightly darker than yesterday. I am trying to not get to hung up on darkening lines as there are so many variables that can affect how the line appears and I fear it will drive me mad! However, I could see the test line developing within about 30 seconds this morning, so I'm taking that as a good sign.

I feel otherwise well, ??starting to feel a bit nauseous or I just seem to be more hungry as eating seems to get rid of the feeling.
I don't feel quite ready for grads thread just yet.

sk1pper · 08/01/2017 22:15

Pug, Alexia,Kwick - stay as long as you like, were not ready to loose you yet. Xx

I just had blood when I wiped, I think I'm about 3dpo. That's too early for implantation right? It could it be from the cyst. Ugh fucking body!!

HepKestrel · 08/01/2017 22:50

Hi skipper yes too early for ib. Sorry.

colourmylife · 08/01/2017 22:52

I've just had pink blood when I wiped too. Think I'm 8DPO. It's so hard not to get your hopes up. I don't usually spot between periods so I told DP excitedly and he just looked at me like Hmm

Londonjam · 09/01/2017 00:03

Skipper could it have been a painful ovulation / big egg? That could cause some spotting

That sounds promising colour, the chaps just don't get it Hmm

Welcome peachy!

No need for grads to leave just bring us some of your luck please 😬

Londonjam · 09/01/2017 00:06

Hippychic79 · 09/01/2017 07:05

Welcome peachy :))
They say you should give it 6 months of trying but I booked a gp appointment straight away to ask if I needed any checks. Your shout I guess. Don't stress mate - I'm 38 in 9 days and tTC #1... PMA is crucial :))
Yes grads - stay and bring us luck :))
Sk1pper Flowers xxxx

sk1pper · 09/01/2017 07:34

Jam - I don't know any more, lol. Still hurting this morning, now to sit at work for 8 hours feeling like crap. Angry

Colour - yours sounds much more promising! Fx

Peachy - welcome, which symptoms do you have of PCOS? If you know you're not ovulating then I'd save your money on additional opks and head to the GPS.

Tonks87 · 09/01/2017 08:59

So AF arrived and I've spent the whole weekend feeling sorry for myself.

But today's a new day and a new cycle. Time to get over it and bounce back.

Plans for this cycle:

  • eat breakfast every day
  • do yoga twice a week
  • stay positive
  • no googling, no matter what random TTC thought pops into my mind or how desperate I get

I WILL GET PREGNANT THIS CYCLE

Peaches8Posies · 09/01/2017 09:23

Morning ladies Smile

It's days like this I miss being able to indulge in caffeine Sad tired girl.

Anyway.....flash kath harriet tonk FlowersFlowers hoping our time comes soon and af takes the hint and stays firmly away! harriet hope you get a good handle on your cycle 45 quid is a lot of money not to!

pug yeh for darker lines. Relax and think positive Smile alexia have you POAS again? Remember that line means you are pregnant. And you have found out very early so don't stress out over line codours etc...But yes hang around here as long as you like, you too mouse & kwick. Hopefully won't be long before more of us are joining you though.Smile

hippy yes to PMA I made the mistake of reading too much about conception at my age (37) and have now got it in my head I've left things too late Sad
