Thread 23. TTC #1 - New Year, New Opportunities. Let's keep those BFPs rolling in!

AlexiaB · 02/01/2017 16:29

Calling all OPK-ers, Temp-ers, Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, IUI-ers, IVF-ers and anyone else on the TTC #1 Bus.

Happy New Year! It's 2017 and it's OUR year Star

We've been going a while now so the novelty has somewhat worn off and we're slightly battle scarred and bruised in the cervix area. We've ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar, and we don't get a lot of baby dust in these here parts, we just keep it legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face!

We have a new Grad's Thread. We recently lost a whole load of ttc veterans to the good side and we're absolutely desperate to join in the fun! May 2017 lead us all to upduffed heaven and the Grad's thread, amen.

We don't have rules as such but expect to be talked down from the ledge with kind but firm words if you get too hysterical. But most importantly, don't convince yourself that you're pregnant in the tww. That is paramount!

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share...

Wow you girls are amazing, keep it up! I was doing pelvic Yoga every day but I think I've pulled my ovaries (can you even do that??) so I'm now just committed to every other day.

Londonjam · 04/01/2017 17:57

Binky that's odd you had such strong cramps before, I hope that's a good sign!

Hurrah on the appointment peaches your DH sounds so supportive

Agreed it is so different for guys. DH doesn't really ever bring it up. I think and talk about it constantly and he only ever says things like "it'll happen". I got a bit cross with him and said doesn't it get to you too? He said it does he just doesn't show it in the same way. Hmmm. I wonder if the low morphology has something to do with it. Guys are funny about sperm.

Winging glad you are feeling better. There is something to be said for being distracted at work!

HepKestrel · 04/01/2017 18:03

wing I just restarted c25k today! As of last hour !

I got up to w4 in October ( during my post MC recovery), but stopped due to work travels, illness and then the new kitchen. Not sure it was sensible, but I restarted at w1r1. Hard work, but so happy I hadn't lost all my fitness. I think it's really good.

OrangeCloud18 · 04/01/2017 18:24

I'm so lazy... I walk quickly but that's about it, I started to do some yoga but not really sure I'm doing it right haha
I did improve my diet a lot though but if you guys have any advice on fertility diet, I'd be happy to take it as I'm not sure what to eat/not eat ?
My OH is doing fitness again and has improved his diet and cut back on alcohol which is nice.

He was a bit sad when I had to explain to him that it might take a while for me to actually get pregnant and I couldn't really comfort him as I'm so worried about it too. I'm trying to stay positive as 1st month TTC but the fact that I might need a laparoscopy before I can actually get pregnant really scares me.

kwick · 04/01/2017 18:36

ej could be an anvolutary (or something like that) my FC told me that it is quite normal for these to happen from time to time?

Tell me if you need me to stay off the thread - I do not feel ready to go to any grad threads until at least 8 weeks Confused

LSFX!!!!!!!

Sorry missy Flowers

flash I hear you - but whilst I defo advocate sensible behaviour the miracle of conception and pregnancy has so many variables that are way beyond our control that we cannot be held responsible!!!!

peaches GPs can suck!!!

miranda I did not take bromelain - instead first 5 days after ovulation I ate a fifth of a fresh 🍍 including the core as this has bromelain, said to help with implantation.

Really am a supporter of relaxed attitude - just wish I could practice what I preach!!!!
BTW No way I can relax and wait for it to happen... unless I am waiting for immaculate conception!!!

I actually rang my GP yesterday and got a same day appointment- unheard of. Tried to tell boss about fit note today but she got called away... have an hour with her on friday and will start with that...

Great mindset wing

hippy what will your OH say if you get BFP before May? Confused

GPs suck sometimes flash!!!

LOL pulled your ovaries sk1pper made me laugh but I flipping hope not!!!

kwick · 04/01/2017 18:39

orange if you PM me your email address I can send you what FC nutritionalist gave me (after I paid £150)!! Offer applies to any of you lovely ladies - cannot think why I did not offer before!!!

Pyjamas81 · 04/01/2017 18:43

Lots of good exercise going on here! I did c25k years ago - completed it and felt great afterwards! Hate running though so it all went out the window pretty soon ha ha. I have personal training sessions once a week and go to the gym two other times which I think is enough. I wish I was one of those people who loves yoga, but I just find it terminally dull and can't wait for it to be over! I sign up to regular nutrition programmes with a nutritionist I know - they're fabulous. Meal plans every week with recipes and shopping lists and this time she's including short but effective fitness videos as part of the four week package. It's the only thing that's ever worked for me long term!

It's so helpful when DH/DPs are supportive - mine doesn't say a lot as he's not very expressive, but he listens and and is there for me when I need him.

WingingIt83 · 04/01/2017 19:07

hep I'm going to have to restart after only w1r1 as did the first last Wednesday and haven't managed it again yet! ! Christmas and new year got in the way plus i live in the country and our roads didnt get gritted and it was lethal. Then Dh was ill and now I'm ill!
But really looking forward to completing it. I consider myself active but not cardio fit by any means.

Flashinthepan · 04/01/2017 20:20

Yeah, my DH has asked what he can do to help with everything but I don't think he really understands what it's like to know that if their sperm is good and gets where it's supposed to it is literally all on you to do the rest!

All the exercising sounds good ladies. Well done! I got super fit after I had surgery but have relaxed a bit on the exercise, so need to get back a bit, especially after Christmas. Think I might take up yoga or Pilates, my acupuncturist said moderate regular exercise, not too much, not too intense, was good.

Also, how did anyone go about getting a day 21 progesterone test/how did you start to think you might have low progesterone? I'm obsessing over it but only because it might be something I could fix, if it was the reason I had the ectopic and then I'd feel like I had it under control. I know, I know! I'm a crazy person.

Flashinthepan · 04/01/2017 20:23

Oh kwick this gp is particularly crap. He has twice forgotten to book scans for me and DH, once for me with the whole disastrous post-pregnancy periods, and more importantly when DH had a particularly worrying lump. And you know how hard it is to get men to go to the dr anyway! Trying to get them to chase for an appointment they don't really want is nearly impossible.

Musicgrrl · 04/01/2017 20:32

Hi to all the newbies!

Thanks for all your lovely words ladies. I am certainly more relaxed for now but my DH is convinced that I'll find something else to worry about in a few days! Trying to prove him wrong.

kwik note from doctor is a great idea - glad they obliged. Even if your manager isn't the most understanding there's nothing they can say to it now! Look after number one ☝🏻

jam I used to come up with reasons for each cycle about why a BFP wouldn't be ideal that month and it did help me rationalise. My ones for August baby were - statistically August babies do worse in the education system, sweaty end of pregnancy, I am bridesmaid for two weddings in July.

pyjamams fuck it days sound truly amazing!

FXskip yes, got a few photos of the little blob! You can't really distinguish anything yet although she pointed out the head and bottom and showed me my ovaries and told me that I had ovulated from my left side. You could see the hole left when it had come from. It was really interesting in a nerdy way. We were able to hear the heartbeat too! I won't try and tell you not to worry as I tried myself and was completely unsuccessful but try and keep in mind that the significant majority of pregnancies result in a healthy baby 9 months later (as I think others have been saying on this thread). Also try not to benchmark your symptoms with other people's as it will drive you mad. I have no sore boobs and no sickness or nausea. My main symptoms are being very gassy and getting awful acne. (Delightful!!)

alexia I'm so sorry to hear about your fight with your mum. It sounds as though she really isn't able to put herself in your shoes and understand how you're feeling. I think giving the relationship some space could be a good idea although I also know that I can't walk away from a falling out without attempting to reconcile so it depends how you feel about it. Have you spoken to her since? Sorry, I realise this is a very out of date response and I may have missed another update along the way...
Also, your chart is looking good. Like the second temp spike! But also, to reassure you, my chart on my BFP cycle was very unremarkable looking.

I have done terribly at getting myself up to date on the thread, sorry - it takes ages to scroll back on my phone and I don't use the laptop I share with DH in case he snoops on my MN world somehow!

sk1pper · 04/01/2017 20:42

Anyone know if it's safe to have a filling at the dentists in the first trimester of pregnancy? Assuming of course that they have to numb your gums.

EJ2009 · 04/01/2017 21:08

Sk1pper -pulling your ovaries did make me laugh.

My gym classes were all jumbled as its first week after christmas so yoga was a bit later than normal, i therefore accidently did a core strength class. Now i feel like ive been savagely attacked in everything from my back to pelvis, abs and the whole womble set up. Sad I thougjt i was going for a gentle down facing dog.

Big news girls. Got a nearly positive opk. Egg must have heard us talking about it. I guess ovulation is delayed a while by the shock & stress at the start of the cycle.

MouseLove · 04/01/2017 21:08

Only if it's a white one Sk1pper I think. Although most will give you a temporary until after the birth. Of course I've only read this because I have utterly shit teeth. 😕

kwick · 04/01/2017 21:10

flash my clinic gives you progrsterone as a matter of course - after IUI you take Crinone gel twice a day up the fanjo - absolutely glorious stuff - makes your boobs ache, gives you cramping, can clump - a real delight. Then, as I discovered, on Monday, if you get a BFP with the IUI then they test for progesterone levels.
With the 2 IVFs I did they take bloods on the day of embryo transfer - and both times I had to take extra progesterone as my levels were low. Cyclogest - 3 times a day - supposedly up the jacksie but I just cannot handle what that does to me that I did up the fanjo (btw it leaks everywhere, all my knickers are ruined - even after using panty liners) and also Prontogest which you have to inject yourself into bum...
Not sure why I just shared all that - cos if you need it you should take it! Having said that I have read up on Dr Google that there is little evidence to support its use.

music slight snag with master plan: 75% of my job entails travel.... so I wonder what shitty jobs I am going to be given Hmm

sk1pper I am not sure.... I saw my dentist for a filling right after my MC and she said I would not have been able to have it done if I had still been preggers. Best to check with dentist.

AlexiaB · 04/01/2017 21:16

Hey girls, just caught up after a busy day. Soo much chat but great chat! It's nice (but not nice) to have people who feel the exact way I do. I don't feel so alone. Flowers to all those struggling, I totally get it.

All the exercise sounds wonderful and puts me to shame. Good luck! Also well done on making an appointment Peaches. I know how hard it can be. Re. going private I think if you can afford to then it'll be worth it. Totally understand you waiting jam as house saving is more important. I hope you can get a cancellation in the meantime.

Re DH chat- I'm very lucky because mine totally gets it and he wants it just as much as I do. The only issue I've had with him was the fact he kept telling me not to cry when I was crying (because he can't bear to see me upset and not be able to fix it). He now understands that I'm going to have my down days and there's nothing he can do to drag me out of it. The pain is just too much. I just tell him I'll be ok tomorrow. He's also the best listener and nothing is TMI for him, not even me sending him photos of the gross blood/spotting/CM I find on toilet paper! He also doesn't mind if my temping wakes him up, nor when I shove my bright phone in his face at 6.30am and say "look at my chart!". I don't have much real life support but he's been my best friend since I was 18 and he's all ill ever need.

Thank you Binky Smile Hope you're having a lovely time away. I hope the spotting doesn't turn into af. Keeping my fx for you.

Great news about your opk EJ.

Music hope you can prove your DH wrong Wink I'm so happy for you and wishing you the best. It's great you've missed out on all the sickness so far, not so great about the acne though! No I haven't spoken to my mum since. Well actually I had a missed call from her and called back and said did you call me? She said yes by mistake. So I said ok bye! My dad sent me a pic of her on a plane yesterday but I just ignored him (I don't know if she told him). I'm just much happier when I don't have to talk to her. Can only handle her in small doses sadly. My chart is still high but I'm already scared about tomorrow morning as AF is due 9/10dpo.

Sorry I couldn't do individual replies to everyone but here's some Cake and Brew

EJ - oh god what are we doing to ourselves with this yoga. I don't know how else to explain my pelvic pain. It's like when you pull a hamstring but it's in my ovaries. You know?

Londonjam · 04/01/2017 21:35

Hurrah for egg EJ

Bless your DH alexia it must be hard for them to see us so upset and not be able to fix it

Oh no skipper ! Is it a stomach muscle?

Miranda234 · 04/01/2017 21:48

sk1pper I think I know the pain you mean! I did yoga whilst on holiday from a YouTube video with my SIL and had a really weird pain like I'd pulled something there!! It's the first time I'd tried yoga and think I pushed myself a bit too much. Think I'm going to stick to running! All you ladies doing couch to 5k should look and see if there is a parkrun locally to you, it's such a great way to exercise and people of all abilities go so you never feel silly if you need to walk, I love it Smile

Fx for all of you ladies coming to the end of TWW

AlexiaB · 04/01/2017 21:52

So sorry about af Missy FlowersCake Here's hoping next month is the one!

I like the sound of a parkrun Miranda. Hope you feel better soon skipper Flowers

FXSkip · 04/01/2017 22:06

music that's amazing - I hope I get to see all that.

alexia it's awful falling out with your mum. It will get easier with time, you just have to do what's right for you. Perhaps talking to your dad would help?

All this doctor chat reminds me of when I went to see my doc after 11 weeks of bleeding post mc and he proceeded to remind me about how easily he and his wife conceived their 5 kids. He's not my doctor any more.

sk1pper · 04/01/2017 22:07

Alexia - your paragraph about you and your DH has literally made my day. I hope you both get the BFP you deserve soon xx

sk1pper · 04/01/2017 22:09

Miranda - which YouTube video, do you remember? I doubt we've used the same one but I will die laughing if it is. It's not YogaYin is it?

Binkybunny13 · 04/01/2017 22:22

Sorry so many of you are having down times Sad we all get them, it's shit but we will get there in the end. But sounds as though there are some good OH out there which is so nice to hear. I'm trying to make 2017 the year when every time I think "i desperately want a baby" I try to rephrase it and think "I'm so lucky to have my DH and friends and family, and sometime I'll also have my own family" and hoping that positivity brings great things!

Kwick I don't know how to PM on the app but I'd be really interested in your food guide if you don't mind sharing?

Sk1pper thanks for thinking of me Smileand London and alexia thanks for the good luck! Had a little more brown spotting after DTD (that one was just for fun! Wink) but no AF yet...I hate limbo! Good job I'm having fun distraction ATM and no IC here with me!

You're a fab group of ladies and don't know what I'd do without you all! LSFX

Flashinthepan · 04/01/2017 22:37

So really sore boobs after oving can be a sign of progesterone not just oestrogen? I'm sorry I'm just totally freaked out about trying again.
