Getting ready for baby challenge

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 19/12/2016 10:51

Hi all, we are planning on TTC in the new year. Before that I want to get a bit healthier lose three stone and generally be in the best shape possible to get pregnant and run around after a baby. Is anyone else in the same boat? Would you be up for a little thread to keep us all on track? Planning on doing a dry January as a kick start and then will be dragging my arse to the gym after Christmas as well. Very open to suggestion and ideas to shift the bulge. Would be good to have a few buddies though. Anyone fancy joining in?

Thank you Wiggly :) Yeah I'll be testing in the morning but don't think I'm pregnant as I don't have tingly boobs like I did with DD, it was such an obvious sign.

pony I wouldn't worry too much I do think most midwives are female, or at least the majority are so can't really imagine a scenario where they wouldn't have any female midwives available. Although I did give birth to DD in the middle of the night and it was quite quiet in the hospital, and honestly you may find that quite a few consultants, surgeons and anaesthetists are male.

The male doctor who came in was so great I honestly didn't care by then that there was a man groping around my vagina, which I thought I'd be uncomfortable about too. But don't forget you can always express your worries early on to your community midwife Halo

Wiggleyfingers · 22/12/2016 18:34

Groping around my my vagina!! Xmas Grin Brilliant!

EvieSparkles0x · 22/12/2016 18:39

Hahaha _ I suppose I could have phrased that more elegantly!

confusedat23 · 22/12/2016 18:46

Awh Evie im sorry AF is making you wait but if you ov'd late you could still be in with a chance!

Oh wow theres do you get to come back to the uk often? I love Dubai! Very good Honeymoon destination for the ladies that are looking! And Zika free! Wink lol

Honestly though... what is it with seeing the In-Laws that can be so stressful! Lol

Xxx

confusedat23 · 22/12/2016 18:51

evie groping vagina is an excelent way to word it! Lol... we will have to remember that for a thread title! Lol

Sorry wiggley i missed your post! I am also completely obsessed with trying to concieve! I dreamt about getting a BFP last night... but the test today was very much a BFN =(

EvieSparkles0x · 22/12/2016 18:59

Hahaha Xmas Grin Ooh Dubai sounds amazing!

confused that would be lovely, I did have this fantasy of having them only one school year apart if I am preggers now and the little one decides to come on time!

Is anyone making any big changes in prep for babymaking? Halo

Wiggleyfingers · 22/12/2016 19:36

Aw sorry to hear that confused...how did you get on with the OPK? I'm looking forward to trying some out, not sure which ones to get! Although I guess I have enough time to try them all! Grin

Char22thom · 22/12/2016 19:57

Can I join this thread? I am going to be looking into having fertility treatment next year and want to be as fit and healthy as possible. We are unlikely to be able to have many goes so want to be in as good a shape as possible when we go for it. I am 35 in March so clock is ticking too! X

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 22/12/2016 20:07

Ha I turn my back for two minutes and it's groping vagina chat!! Xmas GrinXmas GrinHilarious! En route to airport now. The shopping in Dubai is good but it's just so expensive as it's all imported and very designer focused. For instance if it's 45quid at home it'll be 70 odd in Dubai. And no Primarni or Superdrug.

We've been out here just over a year and we come back a fair bit for weddings and the like. It's the first time we've seen the in-laws since last Christmas. They're a tricky bunch so hoping it goes ok or it will be a long week!

I def have TTC on the brain even though we aren't hoping to get pregnant until July. We are hoping to move apartments to a bigger place when our lease is up and just generally making little changes like that. I find myself looking at prams a lot and for some reason I picture us with a girl. So strange. I don't want to obsess but you can't help it can you! Just think next Christmas we could all have babies Xmas Smile

Course you can join Char - welcome welcome (I always say that in the voice of Pam from Gavin and Stacey!)

Wiggleyfingers · 22/12/2016 20:45

Ahh I love Gavin and Stacey!! It's so exciting to think about next Christmas! We are also planning to move to a slightly bigger home. When I feel like indulging my inner crazy lady I like to do a bit of window internet shopping. John Lewis is my favourite baby section to browse

confusedat23 · 23/12/2016 08:35

Evie are you testing again today? Whats the latest you think you could have ov'd?

It's ok wiggley it doesn't get me too down as I know a BFP isn't part of the plan right at this minute lol. The OPK was ok! They seem to take quite a long time to dry though and as I work shifts in security it is hard for me to wait 10 mins for it to dry completely. One it had though it was very easy to read. I would say try ICs first as I know Mid-Stream like Superdrug or Clear Blue are easier they are just so much more expensive!

Hi Char Xmas Grin Nice to meet you! What sort of treatment are you going to be having?

Just remember theres you are always welcome to rant on here about the In-Laws! lol... I will be there on x-mas day and must be really careful not to mention babies as I feel like she tried to put DH off sometimes saying we are too young etc

The baby obsession is massive in my brain! I thought I was the only person to spend most of my lunch break on Mothercare etc picking things!... I have already decided what Cot I want Blush

Ooooo I havn't looked at the John Lewis one yet! Did not just load JL website

xxx

Oysterbabe · 23/12/2016 08:46

We've already decided on names for the next one 🙈
I feel uncomfortable about it, like I'm tempting fate and we'll end up with secondary infertility but I'm just so broody! I literally cry when I see a newborn.

Char22thom · 23/12/2016 09:02

Thanks for the welcome Smile We wont know for sure what is recommended until we have seen our clinic but it will definitely need to be donor sperm for iui as ivf is much more than we can afford, so hopefully they will say its an option for us, but at 35 almost I'm wondering if chances are too low Confused xx

confusedat23 · 23/12/2016 09:26

Oyster i wouldn't worry we have names already lol DH likes to tell everyone what the kids will be called.. i keep telling him we need to make them first! Lol

Char i used to work for a Lesbian lady who concieved 2 kids using home insemination they had a donor in Birmingham and they only had to pay for a hotel room for him to do his business in! Would you consider something like that?

On another note... does anyones DHs get funny over weird things? 2 nights ago i needed make-up wipes but could only get baby wipes so he got funny thinking im more obsessive about babies but last night he couldnt stop talking like he wanted to make one right away Hmm

Xxx

Wiggleyfingers · 23/12/2016 09:53

My DP is still feeling a little bit weird about the idea. He says he knows he is 100% ready and it's definitely what he wants but saying it out loud feels odd because it's always something that older people do! (He's never felt his age! My little Peter Pan!) I'm trying so hard not to talk about it, it's actually quite a relief to have you ladies to obsess with.
Also very reassuring to hear I'm not the only completely crazy one.

EvieSparkles0x · 23/12/2016 15:52

Hi confused sorry I've been so busy with Xmas prep! Xmas Grin

I've decided that since DD being born I'm not much of a drinker so no one will be too surprised if I don't drink at Xmas, I'm not going to test again unless my period hasn't appeared by the end of December Shock

Sounds crazy but I became a POAS addict since giving up the pill even though we weren't trying (just had quite a few slip ups!) , and since I got 2 BFNs yesterday it brought back some surprisingly painful disappointment! So, since DP is super on board with having another, there's no need to stress about conceiving this month :)

And OMG yes we were talking about switching rooms with DD and the future little one as we have a big master bedroom, he got super into talking about how we'd do the room especially if it was different genders :D wonder if we'll make it to June eh!

EvieSparkles0x · 23/12/2016 16:03

Also char sorry to hear about your fertility issues :( Have you had any reasons given as to why that's the case?

Oyster I think we have our boys name picked out already! Xmas Grin

And confused I know what you mean about age I'm only 23 and despite already having a family, a home and stable flexible jobs I'm nervous about mentioning anything to family about TTC!

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 24/12/2016 06:32

Hi ladies, sorry for radio silence, Was sorting all our Christmas shopping yesterday. Bought our pre-natal vitamins yesterday - we got pregnacare conception. They're on 3 for 2 in boots and superdrug. Does anyone know if you have to take them everyday or would every other day work? Seems like a lot of tablets!

We met our baby niece yesterday too. She is five weeks old and a proper little beauty. She has colic though and screamed non stop basically for like 3 hours. It hasn't put us off but I really hope we don't get a screamer! Really felt for my SIL who just looked absolutely knackered.

In-laws have been ok so far but only spent a few hours around them up to now. Fingers crossed. How's all your Christmas preparations coming along? Everyone ready?

OP posts:
HbH04 · 24/12/2016 07:21

Aw how lovely to have a cuddle with a newborn (bar the screaming!)

I'm quite organised this year, despite work being mental up til yesterday (hairdresser!) Just a couple of desserts to make today & a bit of tidying as all my lot are round for pizza & games later!

It's funny thinking ahead to next Christmas... It all could be very different for many of us! Hopefully some bumps, maybe even some babies! Very exciting!

HbH04 · 24/12/2016 07:23

P.s time for tea hope the jet lag doesn't stick around for too long... You look like you were awake early! Confused

Oysterbabe · 24/12/2016 07:50

We're having a quiet Christmas with just me, DH and DD. We wanted to stay home for her first Christmas and will be going to my parents on boxing day. We're all set. For some reason we have a 6kg turkey that will need to go in at 8am tomorrow!
There is SOOOOOOOOO much food in this house. I'm going to have an extra stone to lose come the new year.
I've started just taking folic acid every day now and will continue with that now until I'm 12 weeks. I think you're supposed to start it 3 months before you start trying.

EvieSparkles0x · 24/12/2016 08:19

Argh so excited this morning have got DD a gorgeous floral teepee that we're going to fill all her presents with Halo

It is exciting to think about bumps next Xmas! Although AF if 5 - 6 days late now..

Wiggleyfingers · 24/12/2016 08:52

Happy 100 messages ladies!
Evie I love those teepees! What a great idea putting all the presents inside.
Tea my friend has had twins recently and they are so tiny! She had them early and they are still so sleepy. Imagine if we have a twin bump in our little group! Does anyone have twins in their family?!

I am just about to brave the superstore Confused We are making a few bits today to take along with us tomorrow and DP is working and has realised we are missing some ingredients. Keep your fingers crossed I don't get trampled on by the desperate crowds.

confusedat23 · 24/12/2016 09:58

*wiggley i think my DH is like 99% ready at the moment he is almost 28 so getting to a good age i think. How old are you abd DP if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah i get what you mean Evie i have POAS 5 times since September! Infact one time even the hospital was convinced i must have been! So i understand your dissapointment. Infact a familt member last night asked if i was and it was shocking! Lol... i'm also 23 and im getting both go for it and bad comments from family so far... and it only takes a small thing to change DHs mind! Although i am thinking there might be a few more slip ups before June! Loool... but none in march because i dont want an christmas baby Blush

theres it must be lovely for you to have snuggles with a little one... the colic moves quite quick from what i remember with my nephew. Hows it going with the in-laws?

HB how did your games night go? and when are you starting trying? I know what you mean about the bumps! I keep looking at maternity some new clothes for myself.

It wouldnt be Christmas without too much food Oyster lol

Also evie the Teepee idea is beautiful!

wiggley i am also one braving the shops today! Considering I am in London its gonna be mental busy. Fingers crossed for you! sends a Chocolate Christmas shopping survival pack
