Getting ready for baby challenge

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 19/12/2016 10:51

Hi all, we are planning on TTC in the new year. Before that I want to get a bit healthier lose three stone and generally be in the best shape possible to get pregnant and run around after a baby. Is anyone else in the same boat? Would you be up for a little thread to keep us all on track? Planning on doing a dry January as a kick start and then will be dragging my arse to the gym after Christmas as well. Very open to suggestion and ideas to shift the bulge. Would be good to have a few buddies though. Anyone fancy joining in?

Jupiter i can help with this one! I used to be a hairdresser... the main risk is if pregnant it can suddenly make you allergic to hair dye so you will need a new skin test done to make sure... also some stylists will only do highlights on someone sho is pregnant so Dye does not touch the skin

HbH04 · 13/01/2017 07:57

jupiter
I'm a hairdresser! It's fine to have hair coloured, sometimes hormonal changes can affect how colours turn out (particularly first trimester & soon after birth) but not super common. Highlights best options cos colour doesn't touch the scalp.

DancingUnicorn · 13/01/2017 07:57

Confused it can make you get new allergies?! Wow! That's really strange!! Can you get new allergies to other things too?

HeyJupiter · 13/01/2017 08:25

Thanks both, that's really helpful. If I am then I'll let the hairdresser know the week before so can do another skin test. She likes to put this root stretcher on too but maybe could avoid that as stays on my scalp for ages. Will stick to highlights :) Chances are won't be an issue but good to know!

confusedat23 · 13/01/2017 08:28

Dancing It can alter and change your allergies.. although I am not entirely sure why!

The best thing to do is to stick with Highlights as you know you are safe for any harm to baby. Although I know this does not always work!

HB You might be able to help me then! I am a Scalp Bleach and I love my platinum blonde hair however as you cannot skin test for bleach what should I do once I concieve?

TheGrumpySquirrel · 13/01/2017 08:41

Morning ladies. Super fed up with work - TGIF! I have job security but not a lot of autonomy.. frustrated with getting pushed around by my bosses, trying to be grateful for what I have though!

DH and I are doing a full on DIY weekend so hopefully that will distract me from work stress & TTC considerations. & Yoga tomorrow!

HbH04 · 13/01/2017 08:48

confused I haven't heard of the random allergy thing so my concerns would be it not turning out correct... a full bleach application could turn out yellow-ey or orangey depending on the base colour (this happened to my friend after she'd had her baby too cos of the breast feeding hormones)
Personally I would steer clear of full scalp applications for first three months but that's just my opinion... Annoyingly there's no one rule book with the do's & don't's on hair colour in pregnancy!

I know it's not the same but could you hack highlights for a time or two?! (I know it's not the same!!)

jupiter a toner should be fine if they're just putting it on for a few minutes at the basin

HbH04 · 13/01/2017 08:50

(I said the same thing twice! Forgive me... It's been a mad week fitting everything in before I jet off Sunday!!)

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 13/01/2017 09:06

Ah Grumpy I know what you mean re work. My boss is a nice guy but he is really annoying to work with. Quite disorganized, really unclear with instructions, not practical etc and I feel really junior all the time because he doesn't listen to me! But he isn't horrible and the job is good so I feel like I have to stick it out. Nearly the weekend for you! Chin up.

We're off on our second ski lesson shortly. Still no sign of withdrawal bleed or the magical weight loss post implant removal Confused

Tea ski lessons in Dubai?!
Thanks, a lot of it is pride I think, if I didn't care that much then I would be a lot happier, but less motivated which is a bit of a conundrum. I do not want to fall into the trap of putting ego over results (which is what all the men do and waste time and energy Hmm )

MrsC2017 · 13/01/2017 09:27

I get highlights so glad to here they are ok as need to cover the greys!
grumpy so to hear that about your boss, my boss is lovely but I'm so bored in my job, I took it because it was convenient and works around DS so I thought it was a dream come true but it turns out I definitely need to be challenged so am now on a panel for a new job with better terms and conditions etc but that could take up to two years to materialise so meanwhile I'll have to power on and as they have accepted me as qualifying for the panel they can't stop me just because I'm pregnant so decided to power on regardless, not worth putting my life on hold for two years over!
I'll def be still having a cup of coffee a day because I wouldn't cope otherwise but tbh prob no harm to cut down because I def drink too much of it now! This week I swore I would cut down and def drank more than ever to its definitely that thing of telling myself or being told to stop makes me do something more!
Anyway happy Friday girls!

Redpony1 · 13/01/2017 09:31

Good to know i won't have to give up my tea! I only have 2-3 a day anyway.

Slightly concerned i will have to spend 3 months with bad roots though! I dye my hair myself, i consider going to a hairdresser a luxury i don't need and have only had my hair coloured once by one. I only get my hair trimmed annually at most too Blush How do you patch test with a home pack? I use a John Frieda foam one...

Tea i assume you have a good indoor ski place?!

So, it was weigh day. Devestated, i've stayed the same!! All this exercise and healthy food, absolutely no processed food for 12 days, getting my 5 a day, eating freash veg and meat. 8 runs & some circuit training. Zilch loss. Nothing. Gutted!
Sad to say i cried when i got off the scales Blush Sad

Heyitsholly · 13/01/2017 10:16

My husband invited his friend to stay without warning last night and they went out. He got back in at 3am trued to put dd duvet back on and woke her then he fell asleep. Ive had half an hour since 3am. She never does this which makes it worse.
Now my first home visit didnt answer the door.
Very friday the 13th.

Only good thing is no sign of af yet and app says due tomorrow....... the suspense lol
I would like a sept baby as ive got no birthdays then. November would be bad 6 bdays already.
Ahh well we shall see.

I wont be cutting down on coffee today lolEnvyBrew

Picking up antibiotics for tonsillitis 😞 Woe is me. Hardly slept last night it was so painful. Picking up more folic acid & vitamin D supplements alongside more wellman tablets.
CD12 I can't face dtd

confusedat23 · 13/01/2017 10:36

Holly How have you managd to not test yet? Sorry about DH men just don't think sometimes! what is it you do again?

oh no mummy sorry you feel ill! I hope you get better soon.

HB I am thinking of getting highlights done on the next time I go to the hairdressers so I can get used to it, although I will really miss my platinum hair Sad

Grumpy I feel your pain.. It's hard when your boss is being difficult.

HPeveryday · 13/01/2017 10:45

Red I hate it when that happens as well but hang it there and you will soon get the whoosh where you lose several pounds all at once. You are doing so well already.

Ouch ouch mummy, here's to hoping the antibiotics works fast. Sorry you are in so much pain.

Timefortea have fun with your ski lesson!
It's snowing beautiful light fluffy flakes in central london. I like it this way, being inside and not getting wet. Yesterday, I got soaked getting home in all the snow Angry
Grumpy sounds like a busy weekend ahead for you!

I have been feeling nauseous since yesterday, I hope I haven't caught a bug as the three of us just got over the vomiting bug a month ago.

Redpony1 · 13/01/2017 11:31

I am trying very hard to hang in there HP ! Typically it's mine & DP's 'anniversary' so we had planned a cheat lunch. Now i feel guilty before i've even eaten it Sad

Oh Holly how annoying, hope you get proper sleep tonight & DH feels guilty...

Get well soon mummyme that sounds crappy

I want more snow, it's so pretty!

HPeveryday · 13/01/2017 11:36

Happy anniversary lovely Flowers, wish you many more to come.
sometimes a cheat meal tricks the body into losing the weight so go on and enjoy every mouthful! Tomorrow is a new day and all that x

MrsC2017 · 13/01/2017 12:01

Red don't lose hope, you did so well I bet it'll all come off you next week! Have the cheat lunch, it's too hard to stick to if you can never break out, it'll help u stay on track because u won't feel deprived! And a big happy anniversary to you guys!
mummy hope anti Bs kick in soon!
holly poor u, hope u get to relax over the weekend!

HbH04 · 13/01/2017 12:12

Happy anniversary red don't be down... Sometimes weight is misleading! One of my clients was pleased that she'd only put on a pound at Christmas but her PT did the measurements and she'd but on 10cm!! Muscle heavier than fat so maybe you've exchanged bad weight for good!
confused get them to do 9% bleach foils with blonding cream ash and should be still nice & bright!

Heyitsholly · 13/01/2017 12:18

Confused ive just been to buy some on my lunch Shock ill wait a few more days as not many symptoms.
Im an occupational therapist.

Enjoy the meal. Sometimes fat in makes you loose it. Sw says a minimum of 5 syns a day or you will have reduced weightloss as your body holds on to it!

Mummyme87 · 13/01/2017 12:28

Confused, I used to have platinum hair with a full head of highlights. Once you've had a few full heads, it becomes like a block

confusedat23 · 13/01/2017 12:49

Red I understand... my shred and healthy eating has not moved anything yet! Its so unmotivating but we will both do it! Plus it could be to do with this ridiculous bloating we have!!

HB do you think they would do back to back bleach?

Holly did you buy some?!? superdrug early detection (highly rated by mn users) are on sale atm 2 for £5 so i'm going to get some at the weekend I think!

Thanks Mummy i think I am just gonna have to go for it

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 13/01/2017 13:09

Aww red don't worry. I'm sure you'll get a whoosh soon. I've been making very slow progress this week. Official weigh in on Monday so hoping will see an improvement by then.

Yes it an indoors ski slope at the Mall of the Emirates - didn't have the best time today. I fell over three times and they put me in a group of 11 people so had hardly any time with instructor. He wasn't very constructive and just kept saying I was doing it wrong or going too fast etc. Feel completely crap about it now but hey ho we're only learning. Hopefully next time will be better!
