Getting ready for baby challenge

Hi all, we are planning on TTC in the new year. Before that I want to get a bit healthier lose three stone and generally be in the best shape possible to get pregnant and run around after a baby. Is anyone else in the same boat? Would you be up for a little thread to keep us all on track? Planning on doing a dry January as a kick start and then will be dragging my arse to the gym after Christmas as well. Very open to suggestion and ideas to shift the bulge. Would be good to have a few buddies though. Anyone fancy joining in?

Ohhh my DH Is the opposite - I love an early night. Kept drifting off last week and he had to wake me up to DTD. That's romance! So easy to obsess. I just watched a BBC documentary about conception and pregnancy (Inside the Human Body with Michael Mosley) which was excellent but not a good distraction from the dreaded 2ww!

confusedat23 · 10/01/2017 17:59

Well after my first month of full OPK i even kept them in a list on a pad so i could compare it was very easy to tell with a positive so i wouldn't worry yourselves too much! And sometimes I found thay i was so obsessed with not weeing that it made me want to go... as long as you have held it for a couple of hours it should be fine!

buzzmoon · 10/01/2017 18:52

Ooh Jupiter is that on Netflix?

HeyJupiter · 10/01/2017 19:12

I just found it after some random googling:

ihavenotv.com/creation-inside-the-human-body

Was really interesting - especially the bit about conception and how clever our eggs are.

confused that's good to know. Not sure I could keep up with the cost of clearblue OPK even if I did want to test every month. I suppose lining them all up in that way helps with comparisons.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 10/01/2017 19:22

DH is working late so I'm just off to watch One Born Every Minute snuggled up in bed with my DD! Can't wait! Wink

confusedat23 · 10/01/2017 20:20

Ive just finished day 2 of 30ds... its a killer but hopefully i am gonna shift this weight asap to start actually trying

That documentary looks amazing! I know what i am watching during my magnesium bath and relaxing in bed!!

Jupiter i only use IC OPKs although i got a 20pavk of clear blue dual hormone for half price which i have promised myself I will not use till we are officially TTC

Awhh Grumpy that sounds like an awesome evening!

So the Mothercare shopping went well Tommee Tippee stuff is on half price atm so I got the Essentials starter kit (Worth £150) Perfect Prep machine which btw is worth its weight in gold for all the bottle feeders out there! (Worth £120) and the nappy disposal system (worth £25) all for £150.50!!!

Seven0fNine · 10/01/2017 20:44

wow confused sounds like a bargain! You are tempting me into buying some bits and pieces to put away! I am too weighing up the decisions about saving enough money/ how long I'll be able to take off. DH doesn't work atm so the plan is for him to be a sahd but I would love to be able to take a full term off from teaching (or more if we can save enough!)

Been eating pretty well the past two days and even went for a run as soon as I got in from work today. It was only just over a mile but I haven't run in well over year and got most of the way round my route so very happy! Going to try and keep up the habit of going for a run each day when I get in from work.

I'm going to have to watch that jupiter, I love all those types of programmes! Is there a new series of one born yet grumpy?

HeyJupiter · 10/01/2017 20:50

confused good work! Sounds like you got some amazing bargains. Must have been so exciting buying it all. My lovely friend is due to have her baby in March and I got her a cot mobile today and something called "Ewan the dream sheep" which apparently all children need...made me even more broody if that's possible.

As for documentaries I also always loved the one the BBC did many years back (when I was a teenager - maybe late 90s) called The Human Body (with the gorgeous and cuddly Robert Winston) I was fascinated by the conception/pregnancy one even then. Might re-watch it if I can find it on youtube..

Heyitsholly · 10/01/2017 20:54

Joining please ladies. Ive been off my pill since end of nov. Ttc since. On slimming world as i was 2 stone lighter when i concieved my dd.
Im so obsessed im getting jealous seeing pregnant people as i know the joy they have to come. I wasnt too bothered last time and i think it made life easier. Now i cant stop thinking of babies!

MrsC2017 · 10/01/2017 20:58

I love and hate one born all at the same time until, my last delivery was traumatic for me and maybe not necessarily traumatic on paper, I am reluctant to say that on here coz all anyone needs is bad stories when TTC and it's no indication of how things will go for anyone else and really don't want to worry anyone, I love one born for the stories but when it gets near the end of labour on the show I start feeling very panicked and stressed and then I'm so relieved when everything is obviously fine at the end! I'm gonna have a look at that documentary now! It'll be a break from the crowd on Netflix which is my new obsession!
Well done on the run seven! You must be feeling the motivation!!
Both DH and my sister separately said that I look like I lost weight today, not sure if I have or it was just my magic black trousers but I'll take it!!!

confusedat23 · 10/01/2017 20:59

Yeah it is Seven i just thought i could take £150 out of the savings now to get it or wait until we have to get it and pay double that! I eould say if your DH is ok with it and you have the pennies you might as well get a bargain! What is your mat pay like as a teacher?

It was jupiter but it was odd being in there and not being preggo.. it felt like everyone must have known! Although I am sure they couldnt know lol ahaha Ewan sounds really cute! Homestly i would have brought the whole shop if i had the money lol

I have gotten half way throughtjat program and its awesome!

MrsC2017 · 10/01/2017 21:00

Also forgot to say confused u are the bargain queen! That's great going!
Welcome Holly hopefully you won't be waiting long for BFP!!

confusedat23 · 10/01/2017 21:00

Also Seven forgot to say well done with the running!!

buzzmoon · 10/01/2017 21:03

Oh my gosh I feel so bloated I feel like I'm going to explode! Could this be a side effect of coming off the pill?
I've had a small pasta salad for lunch and some popcorn and a small amount of stir fry noodles for dinner. (Plus maybe a few chocolate biscuits oops)

Confused your mothercare purchases are an absolute bargain!

buzzmoon · 10/01/2017 21:24

And welcome Holly! :)

Seven0fNine · 10/01/2017 21:28

Thanks, hope I can keep it up! Leg's have gone a bit stiff now.

I think it's 6 weeks 90% pay then goes down to like £100 a week SMP.

Buzz I get bloated around ovulation (I think!)...

confusedat23 · 10/01/2017 21:49

Mrs i do like to try and stretch the pennies! Lol i also looked to see when the offer will end but it just said until stocks last... i know it might be counting my chickens (or whatever that saying is) that i am going to get preggo anytime soon but i think its best for us might feel different if no BFP in 12 months time!

Hi Holly welcome to crazytown! We are all literally obsessed but we all love it!

Which pill are you coming off of Buzz? I would say it may be post pill but pasta and noodles in one day would bloat me... but I have IBS so may be different?

You can do it Seven just stay motivated! How are your cycles now btw? Hmmm yeah Stat Mat Pay is a bummer! Do you have a baby fund?

Heyitsholly · 10/01/2017 21:53

I was on stat mat for my last. Easier done than we expected as you dont spend much on mat leave. Everyone buys you clothes and baby groups and free/cheap.
I usually walked to get out of the house more.
If you can save some for unexpected surprises but otherwise it wasnt as bad as I anticipated

Redpony1 · 10/01/2017 21:53

Welcome Holly !

And well done on the running seven Grin

confused thats a real bargain! How do you know what you might need? I am scared about all that kind of thing!

Heyitsholly · 10/01/2017 21:56

also so i found tommee tippee great for my dd. So great bargain.
Spread out your shopping tho. 9 months waiting is alot of shopping time already!!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 10/01/2017 22:00

Mrs I get stressed too! My DD was born at 35+5 so I was super worried at the time (but it was actually fine) however I do empathise with the women on the show and still get stressed out! It's lovely though too. It's not a new series, I just don't often watch tv so on 4 OD or whatever it's called now

TheGrumpySquirrel · 10/01/2017 22:02

Buzz yes I look pregnant too.. just bloating! Mine was better this morning but puffed up again over the day. I think it's definitely due to coming off the pill and body adjusting

JB1983 · 10/01/2017 22:06

jupiter just watched that documentary and it was really interesting! I'm excited that some of you are in the TWW now, looking forward to seeing the first BFP pop up.
Well done on the bargain shopping confused.
I made it back to the gym tonight, after a couple of months off, for body combat and didn't die! Shattered now though.

MrsC2017 · 10/01/2017 22:18

Wow just finished that documentary, so amazing, seems highly unlikely anyone will ever get pregnant yet here we all are! Thanks for recommending!
Grumpy I love seeing all the different personalities of the parents, it's a really well done show!
jb well done on the gym! I actually cannot wait for someone to get BFP on this group although prepare to be guinea pig coz I will have so many questions!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 10/01/2017 22:27

I'm trying not to hope think that I may have ovulated and be in the TWW as many people take months post cerazette however I have also read stories of it happening without even getting a period

However we are definitely Not Trying Yet Grin
