Hi all, we are planning on TTC in the new year. Before that I want to get a bit healthier lose three stone and generally be in the best shape possible to get pregnant and run around after a baby. Is anyone else in the same boat? Would you be up for a little thread to keep us all on track? Planning on doing a dry January as a kick start and then will be dragging my arse to the gym after Christmas as well. Very open to suggestion and ideas to shift the bulge. Would be good to have a few buddies though. Anyone fancy joining in?

Oh FFS! Was just looking online and I think I'll need malaria tablets for our holiday in July. And it says you shouldn't TTC until after that. So I'm going to be delayed until August now aren't it?! Bang goes the idea of conceiving little Savannah or Serengeti! Not actual names although secretly do quite like them!!

Theres Oh boo. I never would have even thought to look. This is so complicated!! It's like you spend whole life trying not to get preggo and then when you try you need a degree in how to do it.

HbH04 · 05/01/2017 07:45

Oh rubbish theres , (really like Savannah!) is it Kenya you're off to? I'm sure with all the exciting things you've got planned for the year it'll fly by!

Someone posted a zika thread & she said you can get an antibodies test three weeks after you return, around £300 for the couple, next day results, I'm (&DH) is keen.

DancingUnicorn · 05/01/2017 08:18

Hb If you're trying to avoid mozzie bites, apparently vitamin b helps. And eating marmite. Stupid Zika!!

HbH04 · 05/01/2017 08:41

Good facts dancing ! I'm a marmite hater but there are b vits in the conception tab I'm taking. I'll just source some vit B for DH cos it's more of an issue him getting bitten than me!

Seven0fNine · 05/01/2017 09:12

Hey, I found this the other day when browsing pinterest and thought I'd share it with you. It's basically a list of foods acceptable for clean eating which I find really handy when deciding what to eat! My dh and I are big fans of "meal prep" and will batch make a load of box meals for the week which makes it easier to avoid cheating.

fitnesschallenge.xyz/this-pin-is-absolutely-amazing-its-a-healthy-grocery-list-on-a-cheap-budget-a-full-clean-eating-grocery-list-to-print-out-and-use-pin-now-use-later-cleaneating-grocerylist-healthyrecipes/

Although it's not fertility related, I think alot of the fertility foods you're supposed to have are on the list anyway. I've just got a copy saved on my phone for when I'm out shopping to keep me focused!

Location: North West
Age: 28 (today!)
ttc#1
Contraception: was on yasmin for about 12 years and stopped in July
Cycles: 92 days, 41 days and now think af is on her way which will make this one 39 so they are heading in the right direction!
Would love to lose a stone and generally be a bit fitter and healthier!

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 05/01/2017 09:31

Happy birthday seven! Thanks for posting the link for food ideas. I'll have a look at those. I always plan to have a really productive weekend of making meals in advance and then get distracted - I really should do it as it makes avoiding temptation so much easier!

My weekend starts today as we get Friday and Saturday off so I need to make sure I don't fall off the wagon tomorrow!

Presh88 · 05/01/2017 10:31

Hi all - I would like to join if that's ok?
Age - 28, nearly 29
TTC number 1.
Have been off pill since October, this is first month 'properly' trying but feeling rather fat after Christmas so not very sexy Blush
Have joined a gym (cliche alert) so aim to try and go three times a week and have also joined a DietBet challenge to put my money where my mouth is!
BMI ia around 27 so not hugely overweight but I'm not very tall and have about 1.5 stone back to my comfortable weight.
Good luck everyone!

MrsC2017 · 05/01/2017 10:56

Thanks girls for the welcome, wiggly my cycles are between 26 and 28 days normally, then I get the odd rogue one of 30+ days, what's the betting now that I want AF I'll get one of them! AF due by this weekend! I get the feeling I ov earlyish in my cycle, I get ov pain most months and my face is a spotty mess the week of it too, it seems to affect me more that AF does.
I have had the flu over Christmas and then a sinus infection this week I'm just getting over and DS was up vomiting all last night! My house is like a small hospital, thankfully I'm not back to work until the 9th but seriously enough already! I want to be in good health this month! Talking of Zika my BIL changed his honeymoon over it earlier in the year, so hard to pick anywhere to go with it, we opted for several mini moons to European cities over a year instead of a long honeymoon..... Anything to drag it out!
Also gonna try up my fitness, don't need to lose weight but honestly out of breath walking upstairs so have to sort myself out!

HbH04 · 05/01/2017 11:38

Hi presh

Happy Birthday seven Cake hope you're giving yourself a day off the diet today for a bit of cake!

busyrascal · 05/01/2017 11:45

Hi MrsC and other new people.

Confused I have a list of names hanging over from last time which I am hoping to revive. Like another pp, my DH is terrible at picking names and I got so fed up of him saying no to all of my choices that I ended up compiling a list of acceptable names and telling him he had to pick one off the list!

So far my ideas are:
Dorothy, Alma, Alba, Olive, Rosa, Nancy
Fergus, Jasper, Felix

I find boys names much harder...

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 05/01/2017 11:58

Ooh great names Busy! welcome Presh.

I keep my name choices in a book and then add to them when I hear one I like. DH suggested buying a baby name book too to flick through.

Redpony1 · 05/01/2017 11:58

I find boys names really hard, i don't like many at all, although really like Jasper - wouldn't have thought of that one!
I dislike overly common names for both boys and girls, so your standard Sophie, Amy, James, Harry etc.
I need to find a list of names NOT in the bible & go from there i think! Although this is massively thinking ahead... Halo

TheGrumpySquirrel · 05/01/2017 12:26

I also like hardly any boys' names. I like Sebastien but DH doesn't. That's about it.. DH suggested Hunter for a boy which is a bit out there but I'm actually starting to like it.
I want another girl but I just have a feeling it will be a boy! (Not even pregnant yet just crazy)

I like Carmen for a girl but DH doesn't. Hmm!

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 05/01/2017 12:56

Ha pony I love biblical boys names! DH was like since when are you Jewish?! I just really like the Hebrew ones. And then I love Irish names too.

OP posts:
confusedat23 · 05/01/2017 12:57

Hmmm Theres I think I need to start a name list... DH and I are really into Nordic history so we have said we want to name our children Nordic names which should stand out a bit... he has agreed to
Noah providing it is not a biblical reference lol.

I really want a girl Grumpy which surprises me as I didn't have a great time with my mum and i'm A daddys girl... but DH obv wants a boy like every other male lol

samidolls · 05/01/2017 13:16

thinking about ttc for the first time later this year (juneish).

I've been off my pill now since august of 2016 as it was sending me properly loopey n feeling crap all the time!

I also want to loose some weight before its baby time though. I'm an 18/20 right now, and I think sometime in the distant past I just to be a size 12/14, so wanting to drop a few for healthly living n baby, and also to just generally be a skinny mini again.

I struggle though as I generally dislike healthy food -green food-, I am incredibly fussy. And I struggle to get motivated for any kind of gym activity. I go to Zumba once a week (which I love most of the time) but only continue to go as I go with my Mum and we depend on eachother to get there.

MrsC2017 · 05/01/2017 13:19

tea I'm Irish so like the Irish names too! I love Arabic names but don't think we could have one considering the paleness of us both! DS has a very standard common name, think I would like to go a little off the beaten track but having suffered with a difficult to spell name myself I am eager to avoid that! Nameberry is a really good name website, if a little americanised but a good way of hearing unusual names!

Redpony1 · 05/01/2017 13:22

Welcome samidolls , how about getting out and doing some fast walking to increase exercise? You just need to wear comfy clothes and trainers and just increase distance etc. Any extra movement will help. Have you go a local Parkrun? We have 5 or 6 ladies that walk ours and they are there every week - i can visibly see they are getting slimmer each time i see them too.

I'm not a great vegetable fan, but i am finding i prefer roasted vegetables more than steamed/boiled so i have been doing that.
Just generally cutting out processed food has been a great help already this week :)

TheGrumpySquirrel · 05/01/2017 16:38

8 weeks till I am actively TTC.. not counting or anything Wink excited.

Ate quite healthy today, it's a rest day for me so no workout. Yoga tomorrow.

orangefolly · 05/01/2017 19:07

Hi again - wow, loving how active this thread is. So I have started in on the vitamins and cutting down on my caffeine and sugar intake Blush Upping the amount of swimming I do too. Going to make an appointment to get my taken out in early Feb. Eek!

Theres ah - sorry about the further delay! It seems there are so many reasons we can be given for now not being the right time! Loving the name book

Hb apparently tonic water is supposed to help with putting the mozzies off too.

Seven - thanks for the healthy grocery list, really handy - doing my shop right now! Smile

DancingUnicorn · 05/01/2017 20:37

Good advice on the walking red. I think I'm going to have to start going for a walk at lunch times away from desk! I'm too tired at the end of the day to do anything. Want my Fitbit to stop mocking my laziness!!

NickMyLipple · 05/01/2017 20:45

Evening! Can I join?! I started a thread the other day about being hugely overweight and wanting to TTC. I am mortified that I am as heavy as I am - re-joined slimming world this week to try to kick start it. I'm struggling with the motivation to loose weight to allow me to safely carry a baby, but I know it would be too dangerous right now. I also don't drink anything during the day - I usually have a coffee with a dash of milk and a sweetener in the morning and a can of coke zero at lunch. I then usually have 250mls of coke zero at home in the evening and then probably another 250ml of water before bed. I know I don't drink enough but I also never feel thirsty, so I forget to drink too. I think I need to up my water intake - at the moment it's virtually nothing!

Anyway, lovely to meet you all!
