Getting ready for baby challenge

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 19/12/2016 10:51

Hi all, we are planning on TTC in the new year. Before that I want to get a bit healthier lose three stone and generally be in the best shape possible to get pregnant and run around after a baby. Is anyone else in the same boat? Would you be up for a little thread to keep us all on track? Planning on doing a dry January as a kick start and then will be dragging my arse to the gym after Christmas as well. Very open to suggestion and ideas to shift the bulge. Would be good to have a few buddies though. Anyone fancy joining in?

Welcome Cora
How old are you and how long did it take to conceive last time? Were you on the pill before?

I'll be starting trying in march too! Why don't we all post our stats to remind / get to know each other?

Grumpy:
Location? UK
Age? 30
Kids? 1 DD age 11
TTC? from march 2017
Contraception? Came off mini pill 27 December 2016 after many years
Cycle? Remains TBC. Used to be regular pre pill (28-30 days)

confusedat23 · 04/01/2017 18:48

Dancing Thamk god there is someone else struggling! The Chocolate thing is so hard! I eat a bar a day since quitting smoking a year ago Blush

Grumpy We were meant to try carrying on with condoms but we have completely given up but just pull out... i know its not a real method but we are just pretending we arnt trying! Lool... Yay for the spotting!!!

Evie I also have a wedding in Sep to go to but i'm really hoping I have a nice bump to dress! There was a preggo lady at my wedding and she looked beautiful! My preference would be Feb/March baby so I could have the summer off... but I also wouldnt mind the last part of winter off also. I just dont want to be heavily preggo in summer.

Hi Coragreta why does DH want to wait till March?

My stats are:

Location: Just outside of London
Age: 23
Kids: Just the DH! Lool
TTC: Was June but brought forward to May but realistically anytime!
Contraception: was on Yasmin Pill until Sep 2016
Cycles: Should be 28-30 days as pre-pill

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 04/01/2017 18:49

Confused. DH wants to wait until LO sleeps better and is worried about cost of nursery for two.
Grumpy. I was. 26 when I conceived, took about 18months. I'd not been on the pill before but always had irregular periods.

Location: U.K.
Age. 28
Kids. 1year old
TTC: march.
Cycle: very irregular.
Contraception: Only using pull out at the moment. Might end in a happy accident?

busyrascal · 04/01/2017 19:25

Ooh okay! Here's me...

Busyrascal
Location: UK, south east
Kids: Dd1(6yo) and dd2(4yo)
Ttc: From March 2017
Contraception: Combined pill which I have been on for 20 years ( with the exception of previous ttc, pregnancies and breast feeding). I get horrendous period pains which have seen me hospitalised in the past so hoping to conceive as soon as possible to avoid as many periods as I can.
Cycle: No idea! See above!

Location: Dubai (Been here 15 months)
Age: 31
Kids: Puppy age 14 months (Ruby). No human kids yet.
TTC: DC(1) from June/ July 2017
Contraception: Nexplanon (Implant) - being removed next week. Been on this since Oct 2013.
Cycle: not had a period for over three years! Dreading the first one after implant!

busyrascal · 04/01/2017 19:27

Oh I somehow managed to also include Theres always time for tea's stats on one too! Sorry- don't know how that happened!

Wiggleyfingers · 04/01/2017 19:40

Lovely reading the messages from today! So reassuring that everyone is also have the occasional skip up on the food front. I've been eating well with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables but also sneaking the odd bit of chocolate here and there! Felt guilty about it yesterday but decided as nutrition is the main goal I shouldn't be too hard on myself. Been doing quite well keeping hydrated as well so so far so good.
Theres I would also love a 2 year or less age gap. I agree with the others re job change. My poor friend had to go back to work so soon because so wasn't entitled to maternity as she started work the month she conceived!
Here's my stats:
Location: South East
Age: 26
Kids: Not yet!
TTC: End of May/beginning of June
Contraception: Mirena coil removed Sept'16
Cycles: 27 days (ish)

coragreta · 04/01/2017 19:59

If you are waiting to start trying but are off the pill/implant/coil what are you doing to stop pregnancy happening sooner?

DancingUnicorn · 04/01/2017 20:03

I'm so hungry!! (I think this must be a good thing...)

Stats:
Location: uk
Age: 30
Kids: None
TTC: From next AF :)
Contraception: None-previously cerezette
Cycle: 26-27 days

I'm already worried about the whole work thing... don't want to let anyone down. (I know that's not rational)

TheGrumpySquirrel · 04/01/2017 20:11

Cora like some others on here, me and DH are just using the withdrawal method. Not fail safe but it would be ok if it happens earlier than planned. We are not actively trying though I'm now paranoid it will take ages when we do!

confusedat23 · 04/01/2017 20:19

Ok so I might have gotten a bit excited when I got some EWCM and realised its DH birthday tomorrow and i got some sexy Underwear for the occasion Wink... anyways! This ended up with me starting an Amazon baby wish list Blush

Wiggleyfingers · 04/01/2017 21:20

Confused I've never thought of an baby wish list! What items have you included?

Wiggleyfingers · 04/01/2017 21:21

Also, good luck with the seducing! I'm sending you a Wine (arousal potion for DH!)

confusedat23 · 04/01/2017 22:01

Wiggley Well so far I have picked a lovely mint green cot which I thought would be both Boy/Girl compatible and the majority of the Cosatto pram/car seat range... I LOVE THEM! Lol

Thanks for the love potion hun Wink... i'm sure there is no harm in trying to catch the egg a few months early! Hmm god I am awful and obsessed! lool

Ann Summers sale is amazing btw any ladies looking for extra seduction power!!

Also has anyone else already gotten baby names?

HbH04 · 04/01/2017 22:07

Ah lovely to see some stats & get to know each other some more (very weird cos apart from DH, you girls are the only ones who know about the forthcoming TTC... Although I'm sure it won't be a surprise to anyone!)

Location: South East
Age: 33
Kids: Nope... Just a naughty step cat
TTC: Best case Feb/Worst case Aug (Zika depeding)
Contraception: Came off pill end Nov(after 16 yrs!) / using condoms mainly, unless nowhere near fertile week (using Ovia to track)
Cycles: possibly 31 days

DancingUnicorn · 04/01/2017 22:08

Confused a girl's name, yeah. I've been trying really hard to fight the urge to buy a pregnancy book. I figure if ttc takes a bit I'll end up getting upset!

HbH04 · 04/01/2017 22:12

Oh and confused I've had an ongoing baby names list for years (in my head) I've started a note of them in my phone now that shit's getting real!! Not sure that DH will agree to any tho! However, my friend says they'll agree to ANYTHING once you've pushed a baby out!

Fredthefrog · 04/01/2017 22:18

Glad I'm not the only one who is worried about not getting pregnant. It's so weird as for most of my life I've been it's been the other way round. You guys are inspiring me to actually start the healthy eating I planned.

Location: London
Age 31
Kids none
Ttc April
Contraception condoms
Cycle day 10

Wiggleyfingers · 04/01/2017 22:20

Hb I also have a huge list on my phone been writing it for over 2 years. So many more girls names than boys and my soon to be DH is in total amusement of some of them because I have a bit of an odd taste. There are too many common names that remind me of children in my class (or previous years!)
Do you think you'll find out the sex of baby? Thinking too far ahead

coragreta · 04/01/2017 22:28

I have so many names on my phone. My DH hates all the names I like and I hate the ones he likes. Took ages to agree last time. It was on the day while I was in labour that we finally agreed.

HbH04 · 04/01/2017 22:59

Ah wiggley my sis is a teacher and had a hard time naming her DS for this reason!

I defo like something a bit different! I wouldn't find out the sex, I like a surprise!

MrsC2017 · 04/01/2017 23:46

Hi girls can I join? Took me a while to decide I wanted to go back to babies, I have a 7 year old but got married in spring and decided to try in the new year so I'm waiting for AF now and then will be giving it a go! First baby was a surprise when I was young so I'm a bit obsessed by doing everything thing right this time! Now that the time is here I'm so impatient too, wasn't on anything hormonal so just stopping condoms which makes things easier but I feel like such a novice when it comes to ttc and everyone on here seems so knowledgeable... Not telling anyone we are trying so would be nice to chat to u girls! So I'm 27, this will be baby number 2 after a long gap and if I get really really lucky I'll hopefully have a BFP by the end of the month but I feel that is over optimistic!

Wiggleyfingers · 05/01/2017 06:10

Hi Mrs C! Welcome Smile Always nice to have new faces here. How exciting for you and your DP, you don't have long to wait! Are your cycles usually regular? When's your expected AF? I bet your DS1 will be very excited to hear of a baby brother or sister.

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 05/01/2017 06:43

Hi Mrs C. Welcome aboard! Good to see we have a few folk actively TTC already. Very exciting to see these BFPs roll in!!
