Hi all, we are planning on TTC in the new year. Before that I want to get a bit healthier lose three stone and generally be in the best shape possible to get pregnant and run around after a baby. Is anyone else in the same boat? Would you be up for a little thread to keep us all on track? Planning on doing a dry January as a kick start and then will be dragging my arse to the gym after Christmas as well. Very open to suggestion and ideas to shift the bulge. Would be good to have a few buddies though. Anyone fancy joining in?

Happy New Year Girls!

Hopefully a very exciting year for us, full of all things new & unknown!

Good luck those getting started in January! Star

Diet starts tomo... It wouldn't be right to start on a Sunday/with a hangover!!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 01/01/2017 16:53

Happy new year all!

Well done tea I'm gonna weigh in tomorrow and hopefully some of this bloating will be gone by then. We have a car full of leftover booze but I'm determined to make at least the month of jan a dry one.

Ssh that is so exciting! We aren't officially TTC until march but just using withdrawal method till then - still no sign of AF, one week off the mini pill, how boring!

confusedat23 · 01/01/2017 18:38

Hey Ladies Happy new year!

I have just gotten back from sunny Devon where i had no phone signal or internet!

Sorry I have missed far to many messages to keep up with but will have to get some scales tomorrow to weigh myself. How have you all measured yourself?

Just an update no positive OPK yet but still trying, i think I am roughly CD10 if count from proper AF and not spotting so not concerned yet

I know my wish was to end this year with a bump, but if we make a baby earlier than planned it will be a year of the rooster baby the same as myself! Does anyone else look into that sort of stuff?

Xxx

Sshsecretenclosed · 01/01/2017 18:51

It is very exciting. I'm already considering when to get out my OPK sticks (!) I'm expecting a withdrawal bleed but other than that feel clueless about what to expect from here!

HbH04 · 01/01/2017 19:07

My BBT thermometer came in the post yesterday so I'm gonna trying my hand at some temping! Not TTC til March/April but I think it will be useful to get to know my cycles in advance!

Sshsecretenclosed · 01/01/2017 19:41

I have no idea about the temping. Think DH might wring my neck if I do that as well this month - he already feels concerned that I have vitamins and OPKs haha

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 01/01/2017 19:44

Aww I was just watching that episode of Gavin & Stacey where she tells him she's pregnant. So cute! I'm back into work tomorrow and going to do a big grocery shop of healthy goodies after work. I measured my waist, stomach, hips and thighs for a bit of a reference point. Might take some 'before' pics tomorrow too.

Wiggleyfingers · 01/01/2017 20:18

Aww Theres I love that episode!! My DP said the other day: "It's so great that one day soon you'll be telling me you're pregnant" and it made me think. I'd always imagined we would test together but I guess it would be lovely to be able to surprise him with the news! What do you think you ladies will do? Test with DP so you find out together or on your own the announce the news?

Sshsecretenclosed · 01/01/2017 20:35

Id ike to think that we would test together but is that really reality?!?! I'm guessing there maybe times we feel a bit desperate to test!! And my dh does work long hours.

DancingUnicorn · 01/01/2017 21:04

May I join?! Starting ttc this month, and although I'm not massively overweight I'd like to lose a few lbs and generally get a bit fitter! Feel like I've put on sooo much weight over Christmas. Also have a lots of meals out planned for January, which makes healthy diet so tough!!

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 01/01/2017 21:39

Welcome Unicorn! Oh I'm glad I'm not the only one who has these chats. We had the same convo and I asked DH how he would like to know and he just said definitely don't give me the preg test covered in wee!! I think I'll just spell out "you're going to be a daddy" on my new lightbox (fav new Christmas toy). I definitely haven't been looking up announcement ideas on Pinterest for the past hour!!

OP posts:
TheGrumpySquirrel · 01/01/2017 22:03

I reckon the chances of me waiting for DH to be around for the test are slim.. as I will probably be a POAS addict... I can't imagine how annoying the wait is! I'll ask him now but I assumed I would find out then tell him!

DancingUnicorn · 01/01/2017 22:11

Eee! I'd not even considered telling OH. Now I'm giddy excited about that too as well as everything else!!

busyrascal · 01/01/2017 22:27

Roughly 4 years ago I thought it would be a sweet idea to wake dh up with the news that I was pregnant with dd2. He said "Congratulations" and went straight back to sleep Confused

Wiggleyfingers · 01/01/2017 22:34

Eek so exciting! Theres Pinterest is so great for that and a very easy way to waste a lot of time. I've just been on Etsy looking at the cute 'mummy to be' tops that I then imagined myself casually wearing around the house when DP gets home from work. I love a baby day dream!

confusedat23 · 01/01/2017 22:52

Ok so I have totally not been looking at baby announcement ideas! They are soooo cute!

I just got baby bombed I am so jealous pleased for DHs friend who created a baby with his ex by accident definitely not bitter or anything Wink

Xxx

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 02/01/2017 08:03

Well I've been dieting all morning and I'm still not a size eight!! How odd!

I had beans on toast for breakfast. Having courgetti with veg for lunch and have a snack of vanilla yoghurt with berries. Not sure what we're having for tea yet but will keep it healthy.

Should probably add some exercise into the mix today but building up to it as it's the first day back to work and have serious January blues. Trying to increase water intake too! Hoping for a good result next Monday.

How are you all getting on?

OP posts:
TheGrumpySquirrel · 02/01/2017 09:37

Not dared to weigh in yet as still bloated but I'm at yoga now so that's good!
DH is doing vegan January I may do a vegetarian month.

confusedat23 · 02/01/2017 10:49

I have no scales or measuring tape so I have sent DH out on a mercy mission! We are currently in the process of clearing out bedroom no.2 (aka the man cave) to fit some work out stuff in there.

I JUST WANT TO BE SKINNY!! and it has nothing to do with the fact that i'll be a whale when pregnant

EvieSparkles0x · 02/01/2017 10:51

Has anyone tried/considered intermittent fasting? I think that might work for me as I have super busy mornings and probably wouldn't mind skipping breakfast or something..

Weighed myself yesterday and looks like I've put on 3lbs :( But i swear modt of it is bloating from my 2 week late period! Had the tiniest streak if blood last night so did a cheapie test this morning and am convinced it is a teeny faint positive but DP doesn't want me to get my hopes up. So fed up of waiting and was looking forward to start tracking, boo.

confused ooh yeah if I was by some miracle pregnant my little one would be YOT Rooster too, that stuff means something to me too, all my family are summer babies and I'm an autumn baby and consider myself quite different :)

TheresAlwaysTimeForTea · 02/01/2017 11:41

Aah Evie how exciting! What test did you use? The First Response ones are meant to be good at picking up early results. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I have given 5:2 a go in the past and it seems to work well for a lot of people. I'm not keen on having different meals to DH if I can avoid it as it drives me mad seeing him have lovely things while I'm starving!!

OP posts:
confusedat23 · 02/01/2017 11:41

Evie I have tried before and I am better skipping one meal than i am at something like 5:2... although i need something because i have put a STONE on since my wedding!!! Sad

What test did u get a squinter on? Can you post a pic? I got a squinter on a Tesco test once its so unfair!

I told DH last night that we have until Feb 2018 to birth a Rooster lol i am not too sure how much he brought into that idea though

Fredthefrog · 02/01/2017 12:16

Evie I have done 5:2 and had good results but fell off the band wagon hence wanting prep for pregnancy . You shouldn't do it while you're pregnant though.
Well done for being at yoga grumpy.

HbH04 · 02/01/2017 12:36

Just went for a run (there's a 5k lake just up the road!) it's a beautiful day so had to dodge all the kids out on their Christmas bikes/scooters/rollerblades!

We're round at the MIL tonight for ANOTHER roast do will have to say no to dessert!!

My appetite has gone down noticeably since coming off the pill but I've got to listen to this and not eat out of habit!!

EvieSparkles0x · 02/01/2017 13:01

Ahhh thanks TimeForTea, I will hold out hope until AF arrives! The pink streak was very unusual for me I never spot, and I also never cramp long before AF but then I've never been 2 weeks late before either..

Confused I used a Wondfo type strip test, Noots own brand - they do packs of 5 for £5 :) I will try and post a pick! I have been convinced of a positive line on those before though which is why OH is skeptical. However this one came up within a minute and although it is veeeeeerrrrryyyy faint, I don't have to hold it in one very specific position/light to see it, hence I'm more hopeful! I am getting cramps now though, and while I read you can get it around the time of a bfp I'm thinking at least AF is finally on its way if not!

And I agree I failed the 5:2 diet but I read about eating only for 8 hours a day which I could do I think. And then we have more calories per meal because it is hard to watch in shape 6 foot DH eat delicious food and look good while I turn into a ball of podge.
