Calling all Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, OPK-ers, temp-ers, IUI-ers and anyone else on the TTC Bus.

We are long past cervix prodding (in fact we know where it is at any given time just by closing our eyes) and we have ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar. We don't do baby dust, or baby-dancing, we just keep legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate, but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face. You get kwick-cake if you behave, and talked down from the ledge when you need it.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share....

Missy yes your body is still probably adjusting from years on bcp. Generally your LP doesn't change in length, it's ovulation day that moves around from cycle to cycle. Temping would let you know for sure. Also B50 or B100 complex is a good supp to get started on if you're worried about your LP. I have a luteal phase defect (9 days), it's not the end of the world but it's just added stress I don't need! Take a test if it'll help you to know either way?

Pug great news! I'm sure April will be here in no time and fx you're upduffed by then anyway Wink

Music my lovely, how are you!? I've been reading stalking on the grads thread from time to time. I don't want to get too far behind just in case I'm lucky enough to join you all soon! My thoughts are with Nicky, I really hope it's just a scare. Do you have a scan booked soon? (sorry I can't remember if you said on there). I was also surprised to see Nov/Dec there for the same reason but it also fits with the previous grads thread as there were LOADS of August and September babies!

Yes my temp did stay up today Smile Thanks for asking. I'm quietly confident I've O'd now just looking forward to seeing the CHs tomorrow! It would be really cool if I conceived this month as it would most likely be from BD on Xmas day and in my childhood home/bedroom! Plus I'd love a Sept 19th due date. One can dream, right? Xmas Grin

AlexiaB · 29/12/2016 19:16

Oh no Winging I'm so very sorry SadFlowers I know exactly how you're feel as I woke up to af on my birthday in Feb and spent most of the day crying in bed. It's just awful. Good news about your LP though. Sending you big hugs FlowersFlowersFlowers I hope it doesn't completely ruin your birthday plans xx

Flowers winging xxx

MissyJones83 · 29/12/2016 19:43

Thanks music it is early days but any advice it more than welcome!
One question is your lp the period from when you ov and until when you af? That is what I always thought it was so just want to check xx

Hi londonjam skipper pug and kwik thanks for the welcome

MouseLove · 29/12/2016 19:48

Oh winging what a bitch!!!! Same thing happened to me last month. 23 day cycle just to piss me off for my birthday. Think AF likes to laugh at us sometimes. I hope that means you've had a nice glass of tipple!!

Scan is Saturday for those that asked. I had a long ass bath today in hopes that it kicks af out of my womble.

I'm currently at a family party (seriously had enough of them this past week hahaha) and my DHs uncle has loudly suggested that my mum might have GRANDCHILDREN soon. And then said it again louder. Ignored like a pro. My sister had to take the hit. Hahaha.

I'm being quizzed if I'm "happy with my life" by his aunty which is a rounderbout way of saying "you're now too old for kids, are you happy about that." I just give the illusion I'm too busy eating buffet.

Talking of buffet. F**k me ive put on 10 stone. Back to the gym next week. 😐

FXSkip · 29/12/2016 20:09

Hey musicgrrl I feel completely normal for end of cycle - a little bit crampy, stroppy and bloated. Back to the gym tomorrow though so that should help with the bloat!

MissyJones83 · 29/12/2016 20:12

Thanks alexia just bought myself a new thermometer so going to start as soon as af arrives. Not really sure what I need to look out for though but know need to take temp first thing in morning before getting out of bed apparently xxx

Starmist · 29/12/2016 20:24

Congratulations Dixie! Xmas Grin

Welcome Missy

I'm still lurking, wishing you all lots of luck. Sorry to those who have had AF show up Flowers LSFX to everyone in the FW & waiting to test xx

I'm 5w + 3d. Feel pretty normal & wonder if I imagined that 2nd line on the test. Have a lot of fear about whether everything will be ok.

AlexiaB · 29/12/2016 20:36

Missy I posted my top temping tips a few threads back so here they are...

  1. Don't stress yourself out over every single temperature. One temperature can't tell you much, it's the overall pattern we need to focus on. Keep calm and you'll sleep better too which will = a more reliable chart.
  1. Use a BBT thermometer eg. one that goes to 2 decimal places.
  1. Choose a time to temp each day when you know you will have had at least 3 hours solid sleep, then set a daily alarm. (I temp at 6.30am every day including weekends).
  1. Each day input your basic data on the Fertility Friend app - Temperature, CM (cervical mucus) and BD (baby dance/sex).
  1. If you use OPKs there's a section for that under Data > Tests & Devices.
  1. If you don't temp at the same time each day (or broken sleep) you will see an 'open circle' on your chart. This indicates an unreliable temp and it's best to avoid this as much as possible.
  1. Ovulation is detected once FF detects 3 days of elevated temps. You'll then get red "crosshairs" on your chart pinpointing ovulation day.
  1. You will know AF is coming once your temp drops dramatically or below the coverline (the horizontal red line) as you approach the end of your usual luteal phase.
  1. It will become much easier once you know what your pre and post ovulation temperature range is. For example, I know I haven't ovulated unless I see temps sustained well above 36.30.

This may seem daunting but it's easy once you know what to do Smile

Mouse good luck for your scan on Sat and well done for ignoring those ignorant comments ShockAngry I hope af shows up soon so you can start afresh (if you think you're out?)

Hi Star I think those are natural feelings to have. I'm sure it's all going well in there though, your line was so strong!

Flowers to all you guys who have been paid a visit by af xxx

OrangeCloud18 · 29/12/2016 21:44

Hello everyone,
I hope you all had a nice Christmas and I'm sorry for those of you who got the visit of af.

As it is very early days TTC for me, any advise on how to keep your mind off TTC during the two week after ov?

Kathrino · 29/12/2016 22:07

Your post is really useful Alexia. I've never temped because I tend to sleep really badly so fear and end up with lots of invalid results but maybe I should give it a try.

Welcome missy!

So sorry for the unwanted birthday present winging Flowers

WingingIt83 · 29/12/2016 22:25

Thanks everyone, I have my blood test results to pick up in the new year so I'll really push for them to start investigatons.

Onto cycle 11, 11 was my favourite number as a child so who knows Hmm

This cycles technique is going to be dtd every 3 days but not go overboard in FW going on the experiences of some of the recent bfps.

WingingIt83 · 29/12/2016 22:29

I temped only this cycle (stopped last month hence why readings only started just before fw) but I guess i should take some comfort in the fact that it all looks pretty normal?

AlexiaB · 29/12/2016 22:45

No problem Missy, yes please let me know how you get on.

Orange I haven't mastered that yet so don't really have any tips, sorry!

Kathrino don't worry, I was rubbish at first! My first chart was all over the place! I wasn't sleeping properly and didn't really know what I was doing. I then relaxed and it became much easier. You also don't have to temp every day. You can stop during af or even up to cd9/10 and then stop again once O is confirmed if it causes you stress in the tww. Sleep can be an issue but I find even if I wake briefly in the night, get under 3 hours solid sleep or temp an hour or so before 6.30am I will still get a reliable temp. When I temp later, say 8am, that's when my temp would be unusually high. For some people it doesn't matter at all though. I guess it's all trial and error :)

Point 7 above should have read Ovulation is confirmed* not detected.

Winging I find Ovia charts very hard to read but I can definitely see a clear temp shift I just don't know how many dpo you were. You are ovulating though so it will happen! Have you had your DH tested?
