Thread 22. TTC #1 - The one where the BFPs rolled in & long may it continue

Calling all Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, OPK-ers, temp-ers, IUI-ers and anyone else on the TTC Bus.

We are long past cervix prodding (in fact we know where it is at any given time just by closing our eyes) and we have ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar. We don't do baby dust, or baby-dancing, we just keep legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate, but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face. You get kwick-cake if you behave, and talked down from the ledge when you need it.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share....

Glad you made up with you mum Alexia.
I made up with mine this week too - good old xmas. Mine has been a bit insensitive in the past but i've got her support now which is great. Pressure TTC is bad enough, without friends and family being insensitive about it!

Londonjam · 21/12/2016 16:42

Glad you made things up alexia, I hope your mum can support you.
binky that would give me food for thought too. I would find it impossible to stop trying even for a month though.

Well, so much for my egg waiting. Just got a blazing positive OPK! We DTD on Sunday and again this morning so I'm hoping we are in with a chance. Would have liked to have kept going this week but not possible.

AlexiaB · 21/12/2016 16:56

Binky hope the relaxed cycle does the trick for you lovely! Sorry I don't know much about maternity pay as I'm self employed. I should probably google it! I wouldn't stop ttc though.

Sorry you've been having issues with your mum too Hippy. Sometimes they just don't get it! I'm glad you've made up for Xmas too Xmas Smile

Jam I actually think that's perfect timing! DH would have had a good supply built up from Sunday, you used a softcup and should be ovulating in 24 hrs. O-2 has the best odds! I think you still have a great chance this cycle. Think my mum will be supportive now, fx. She was definitely fine last night.

Thanks alexia. To be honest we have nailed it pretty much every month doing it daily and nothing has happened! Perhaps a more restrained approach will help?

We had some awful news about some good friends of ours yesterday, which put it all in perspective really. They had been battling infertility on both sides for over 4 years, and very sadly had a very dangerous late miscarriage last week, at around 30 weeks. She had an emergency section, her lung collapsed and she had to have kidney surgery afterwards. Their little boy was born sleeping :( She's only just come off a ventilator and is lucky to be alive. I have no idea if they will be able to conceive again. It's absolutely heartbreaking, they are such a lovely couple. It really has put things in perspective for us. It's so true about treasuring the things we do have. I'm so relieved that she survived and is recovering now.

AlexiaB · 21/12/2016 17:28

Jam I think so!

Omg that's truly awful news. It's so upsetting and unfair! I can't even begin to imagine how they're feelingSad I hope your friend makes a full recovery and that they get the chance to mend their broken hearts with a rainbow baby very soon. Such a devastating thing to go through at any time but especially right before Xmas Sad xx

That is awful Jam, so sorry. It really does put everything in perspective :( I hope your friend makes a full recovery and they can find some peace with life.

And to think I had just logged on to say that I am 98% out this month and onto Cycle 11 - pink on tissue this afternoon. I was feeling gutted and pissed off, but hearing that story has given me a mental shake. I really don't have anything to moan about.

sk1pper · 21/12/2016 17:53

Miranda, Mouse, Skip - good luck as you're due next! You must all three solemnly swear to not get upset on Christmas Day if it's a bust, we've got a whole new year ahead of ourselves so stay positive whatever happens!

London - fucking hell, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, that is truly horrendous. Talk about perspective :(

Star - I hope the witch stays away, I'm not 100% sure how you've not tested yet but I'm impressed with your resolve.

Alexia - I'm so glad you're around again, I think we all missed you. :) Glad you had a heart to heart with you mum, falling out with family is the worst thing, it just eats away at you. Now she can support you properly and you're both on the same page.

Penguin - Flowers Sorry to hear that, ahh well another person to keep me and Hippy company...

Kathrino · 21/12/2016 18:00

How awful Jam, your poor friends. My heart goes out to them Flowers

EJ2009 · 21/12/2016 19:16

Im out this month. Af arrived a day early on Tuesday. However, my dh was hit by a car the same day whilst cycling home from work so on the scale of things, i'm just thankful to still have him. He's got some nasty injuries but will be ok.

Fx London for you're positive OPK and I'm so sorry about your friend. How heartbreaking.

Penguin & EJ sorry about AF. EJ I'm sorry to hear about your DH, hope he recovers ok. X

Sk1pper I won't be testing this cycle unless I make it to the 28th. If it's a BFP I'll be shocked beyond belief as the last time we DTD was CD13 (CD24 now) and I think I might have ovulated on CD18. Either way, I don't want a BFP this cycle as I have my MRI scan on the 31st. Sad that I'm wishing it was the opposite to something I want so desperately. Sad

Kathrino · 21/12/2016 20:22

Gosh EJ, how terrifying. I how DH makes a swift recovery.

kwick · 21/12/2016 20:28

Omg Starmist, congratulations! What a fantastic clear BFP! fab Christmas present too Xmas Grin

Flowers to your friend, Jam, that's truly horrific. A friend of mine had a stillbirth last year and I honestly didn't know wtf to do or say - they have a little girl already at least but to have to give birth to her baby son when she knew he had already gone - I can't even imagine how that would feel. I bought her a spa day and tried to be there for her when she needed me but you feel really useless at a time like that. :(

kavanaughkj · 21/12/2016 21:11

Yikes - EJ - sorry to hear what happened to your DH. Hope he recovers soon.
