Thread 22. TTC #1 - The one where the BFPs rolled in & long may it continue

Calling all Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, OPK-ers, temp-ers, IUI-ers and anyone else on the TTC Bus.

We are long past cervix prodding (in fact we know where it is at any given time just by closing our eyes) and we have ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar. We don't do baby dust, or baby-dancing, we just keep legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate, but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face. You get kwick-cake if you behave, and talked down from the ledge when you need it.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share....

Put me down for 23rd please Jam, although as usual there is absolutely nothing to suggest this month will be any different Hmm

Has anyone here had to go for a colposcopy before? I got my smear results through yesterday and they have shown some abnormalities. I've got an appointment at the hospital on 13th Jan to have the colposcopy where they'll take a closer look and decide what further action is needed.

It's a bit worrying but apparently it's fairly common so I'll try not to dwell on it too much... There's no mention of whether or not you can have it done if you're preggers but does say to avoid sex afterwards to prevent infection so that might well be January out the window for TTC Sad

But, as I've said in here before, health first!

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend and starting to feel festive. Last chance to do present shopping for me and I've still got no idea what to get for most people!

Kathrino · 18/12/2016 11:10

7th Jan for me Jam, thank you!

Penguin, I haven't but a lot of my friends have at various points and it's always turned out to be nothing. Better safe than sorry though.

WingingIt83 · 18/12/2016 11:27

1st Jan please jam .....

sk1pper · 18/12/2016 12:17

Penguin - I also have had friends had this done, it's just to make sure but I wouldn't fret about it too much xx

kwick · 18/12/2016 12:36

jam I think you have every right to a copy of your blood test results - in fact to all your medical records.

I loved Rogue One too hep although did feel a little sick after copious popcorn and sweets consumption

kathrino hope your OH feeling better... can he not just lie back and think of England if not Wink

jam great list. My OTD is 1 January 2017.

inspector I have had one of those - bit more intense than a smear. Take some pain relief up front like paracetamol. Try not to worry!

Hippychic79 · 18/12/2016 14:27

Think I'm out for this month ladies - did a test today - 2 days prior to anticipated arrival of af ... and got a big fat negative ..... so upset and pissed off 😤
Fx to all those still waiting xxx

harrietm87 · 18/12/2016 15:27

Thanks jam - I'm 5 Jan. FW for Dec starts tomorrow for me and I had big chat with DH where we looked up the EDD if conceived this month on about 10 websites! It came out around14 sept (though there was quite a big range weirdly) which is 2 weeks after he's back from his work trip. I would have risked it but he was firm he doesn't want to so that is that.

I just want to join you all at last!!!!

kwick my fingers are crossed for you!

EJ2009 · 18/12/2016 16:41

penguin i was under colposcopy for 3 years as i had an abnormal smear then my punch biopsys were coming back boderline/mild so not enough for treatment but enough for yearly monitoring. Punch biopsy is mdly uncomfortable and then the week after you avoid swimming sex and too much exercise just while you heal. They told me i could carry on ttc even though i had mild abnormalities. Fingers crossed for you x

Londonjam · 18/12/2016 16:49

My sister had that penguin I think the investigation and treatment were uncomfortable but it was all fine. I also get the impression it's very common. Frustrating it delays trying that month, but as you say, health first.

Sorry it was BFN hippy it's not too late though to still get a positive though chick

Thanks for those dates, I've added them in. Am I missing any grads, did tenner graduate?

InspectorPenguin · 18/12/2016 17:20

Thanks so much everyone, that has really reassured me and I'm definitely feeling better about it. You lot really are lovely :) Star

Sounds like awful timing for getting sick, Kathrino, your poor DH! (And poor you for having to clean it up). Sickness is the worst and I doubt he'd be feeling up to sex while still ill, but on the plus side these things do often pass very quickly so fingers crossed that's the case and you're back in the swing when you get to O day.

Sorry for the BFN, Hippy Flowers. You're never out until AF arrives but please try not to be too upset if it does. It's the time of year for love and happiness and appreciating all the wonderful things we have - look forward to getting your BFP in 2017 and the new phase of your life that you're heading into instead :)

Kwik I hope it all went smoothly yesterday and you are relaxing with your feet nice and warm. I actually bought some of those furry slipper boots a few weeks back with your advice in mind. They're so cosy!

Just one month to go Harriet, you're almost there! Your DH is being sensible if there would only be a two week window of safety. You never know what might happen and delivering two weeks early isn't that unusual. I'm sure you'd both be devastated if he missed the birth so although it's frustrating, waiting a bit longer it does sound like the right thing to do Flowers

How is the symptom spotting going Skipper, Starmist and EJ? I love the champagne idea if AF arrives btw - I think I'm going to copy that Grin

sk1pper · 18/12/2016 17:39

Hippy - you're not out just yet, hang in there xx

Penguin - hardly any for me tbh. Still insanely hungry and boobs hurts but it's not out of the ordinary. I actually will need to test tomorrow night, just remembered I have a work meal out on Tuesday where the alcohol will flow freely.

EJ2009 · 18/12/2016 17:52

Pleased you are on the champagne wagon with me. Feel it will soften the blow.

I have no symptoms so not hopeful. I feel exactly as i always do about now.

kwick · 18/12/2016 18:26

Sorry harriet that must be disappointing but you can go at it like rabbits next cycleGrin

bluebird3 · 18/12/2016 18:33

Hi everyone. I fell off the thread about a month ago as all rather depressing since we have confirmed infertility issues and I'm no longer part of the monthly fertile week/2ww cycle anymore. On the plus side we are down to start IVF. They are fully booked for January so unless there is a cancellation we will be starting in Feb. So my ticket is for Jan 6th but like I said...doesn't really matter!

Good luck to all the Christmas testers out there. Hope the IUI went well yesterday kwick. Xmas Smile

Miranda234 · 18/12/2016 19:24

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear you've been having a hard time bluebird hope you're feeling better about it all now.

Jam please could you put me down for Christmas Day although unlikely I will be testing then! I have no symptoms even though my mind keeps trying to tell me I do!!

Fx to all of you waiting

Kathrino · 18/12/2016 19:29

Thanks ladies, DH is feeling better now and we think it was food related (rather than a virus) so hopefully he'll be fighting fit by the time he finishes work for Christmas on Tues.

Hi bluebird, I'm sorry about the news you received and I'm keeping everything crossed for your IVF cycle Flowers

Sorry for the BFN hippy, it's still early days though! I remember one of the old grads (who probably now has a toddler...) linking to a really interesting article about how the natural base level of HCG can vary hugely so it can take a while for it to show up in a test.

kwick · 18/12/2016 20:34

bluebird Flowers you will still have the joys of the 2ww with IVF!!! If you do not mind me asking - what did they find?

So I am only 1 day in to 2ww and boobage very sore!!! I have not even started on fanjo progesterone gel yet!!!!! I know, I know: DO NO TRUST THE BOOBS!!!

Hippychic79 · 18/12/2016 21:47

Thank you London, inspector, Sk1pper and Kathrino for your kind words of moral support ... I hear what your saying and I'm hoping that the witch stays away for 9 months.... but at the same time I'm trying to be realistic.
I've been having acupuncture which on the plus side has regulated my cycle to 29 days but on the downside I don't get any pm'd symptoms until the witch turns up ... and when she does boy do I know about it! Af is due Tuesday so 2 days to go .... hopefully if she's coming she won't be late and will be gone by Xmas.
Baby dust to all those waiting to test xxxxx

sk1pper · 18/12/2016 22:23

Hippy - I've similarly been trying to work on my cycle. Up until a couple of months ago I'd get brown spotting 5 days before AF. It's horrid and I was worried it was related to my infertility. I believe that with the right balance of supplements I've managed to get rid of this entirely now. Also, my period used to be insanely heavy and chronically painful for at least the first day. By simply improving my diet, this has improved massively. It's still not perfect but at least I don't have to call in sick to work any more. How long did you take acupuncture for before it regulated your cycle?

harrietm87 · 18/12/2016 22:28

Ooh kwick promising!

bluebird good luck - knowledge is power and great you've got a date! I know waiting sucks but hopefully will fly by.

EJ2009 · 19/12/2016 06:19

Ive woken up with my usual pre af symptoms kicking in & i just want to have a great big meltdown about how hard this process is Sad i know im not out intil af arrives but i just know this isnt my month again as its exCtly as i am month after month and i needed to vent.

Hippychic79 · 19/12/2016 06:42

I've personal messaged you Sk1pper x

Vent away EJ - I had a massive meltdown yesterday when I got a bfn on those bloody tests. No pun intended! I feel for you Hun
Lots of love to all who have af and fx to all those waiting xxxxx
