Thread 22. TTC #1 - The one where the BFPs rolled in & long may it continue

Calling all Clomid-ers, Femara-ers, OPK-ers, temp-ers, IUI-ers and anyone else on the TTC Bus.

We are long past cervix prodding (in fact we know where it is at any given time just by closing our eyes) and we have ditched the Gregorian calendar in favour of the TTC Cycle Day calendar. We don't do baby dust, or baby-dancing, we just keep legs spread and fingers crossed (LSFX). We love a baby bomb from a prior bus-mate, but if we get told to 'just relax and enjoy it' ONE MORE TIME you will get a punch in the face. You get kwick-cake if you behave, and talked down from the ledge when you need it.

Hop on board, post your stats and prepare to be dazzled by the wealth of TTC knowledge we long-timeys have to share....

Congrats Scottish! Some very lucky husbands getting news tonight / tomorrow. Wish mine was!

Is hsg the same as hycosy? All these technical terms Xmas Hmm

Thanks penguin good to know they time it with your cycle xx

Sorry you're missing your party mouse enjoy your coffee Brew

ScottishLady7 · 16/12/2016 06:00

Thanks guys Grin

Too excited to sleep!

An HSG is a hysterosalpingogram- dye is injected through the cervix and X-rays are taken to ensure it comes out the ends of the tubes i.e. No blockages.
I think the HyCoSy is similar but done with ultrasound instead of X-rays- perhaps someone who has had one can confirm?

I had mine through the NHS - not sure I would have paid for it... It's difficult to know if it made a difference or whether it's just a coincidence!

Good luck to you all :)

FXSkip · 16/12/2016 07:08

Congrats scottish !!! I was actually wondering where you were so thanks for coming back and sharing your amazing news - I really hope it's a sticky one for you!

I'll add HSG/Hycosy to the stats - who else had one?

InspectorPenguin · 16/12/2016 07:26

Me, Skip, at the start of December (HSG).

kavanaughkj · 16/12/2016 07:30

Congrats Nicky and Scottish! What fab news - so happy for you both Grin looking forward to seeing you on the grads thread!

Still not feeling real for me and I am now 6 weeks. Seems like forever to wait until I can make it common knowledge, though I mainly want time to hurry so I know things are a bit safer.

Good luck to all the remaining testers this year, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a round of festive bfps!

sk1pper · 16/12/2016 07:32

Congrats scottish!!

I have zero pregnancy symptoms other than extreme tiredness (which I can guarantee is work stress) and achey boobs which I always get. Also just realised that on Christmas Day I would have been trying for 16 months exactly - what a fucking joke.

Miranda234 · 16/12/2016 08:03

Yay congratulations scottish

Happy Friday everyone Xmas Smile

Nicky883 · 16/12/2016 08:24

FXskip i had one also

LondonJam Hycosy and HSG are essentially the same the only difference is how they look to see if the tubes are open . Hycosy uses ultrasound while HSG uses xrays.

The only reason i had it done privately was because 1. am impatient 2. i was convinced my tubes were blocked due to previous inflammatory infection

skipper i really hope you get a Christmas surprise as well :)!!

sk1pper · 16/12/2016 08:29

Nicky - and either one they flush you with dye first, is that right?

Nicky883 · 16/12/2016 08:46

Yes skipper they used dye and Saline .my right one was very open and the dye was very quick to show but my left one showed a bit slower so there is a possibility that there was some "debris" there which cleaned up
Also what i liked about my consultant is that he was explained what he was actually doing and the nurses were brilliant. They did mention that my dominant follicle had a good lining so maybe it was just a good egg this time who knows :) .
I also think is very important to look at your TSH levels . Mine were normal for the NHS but the consultant said they were high. Now that i am actually pregnant (feels weird to say it ) they need to be monitored i went to the gp yesterday armed with letters from the consultant so she took me seriously :)

HepKestrel · 16/12/2016 08:46

Congratulations Scottish !!!

HepKestrel · 16/12/2016 08:47

(our grads list will be filling up nicely ! Xmas Grin)

kwick · 16/12/2016 09:12

Congrats once again scottish!!!! Wink yep I am thread junkie too

Yep a hycosy is with a scan, no xrays. fricking painful too

fxskip I had a hycosy not last cycle, the one before (I think) - last cycle I did IUI

I had my day 12 scan: 1 follicle at 20mm!!! Another at 17mm!!
IUI likely tomorrow!!!

Happy Friday everyonr!!!

Hippychic79 · 16/12/2016 09:14

Please can I join this positive thread - I'm desperate to graduate this month...
Age 38 / cycle 4 / cd 25 / af due 20th
Trying so hard not to test early ....
I am praying so hard ... and for everyone on here too....
Congrats to all the ladies who have graduated and love n hugs to those who have af / are currently fertile / or on 2ww.
Are clear blue digital the best tests ladies?
When does everyone else test?
Xxxxxxxxxx

kwick · 16/12/2016 09:16

fxskip I just checked I had my Hycosy in October. And 20mm is the largest follicle I have ever had!!!

Binkybunny13 · 16/12/2016 09:21

Good luck with the juicy follicle kwick! Sounds promising!

sk1pper · 16/12/2016 09:41

Nicky - thanks for explaining it all, I'm torn between having it done privately or just waiting on the NHS. I've no idea what to expect with my first appointment with the gynaecologist, but perhaps they will be more receptive to my mother's history than my GP was. I'm hoping that I don't have to redo all those fiddly tests again.

Kwick - yes!! Good luck Kwick, glad you've got some juicy follicles - it's all down to your hard work and persistence xx

Hippy - welcome! I'm due AF on the 21st, I won't be testing unless it's late though but I'll keep you company.

HepKestrel · 16/12/2016 09:50

congrats kwick !
welcome Hippy !

I suspect AF may appear at the weekend, but I plan to test again tomorrow when I will be 6 days late (reminder.... must buy some sticks tonight....).

We are going out for date night tomorrow: starwars followed by our favourite restaurant, so need to poas for permission to drink Xmas Grin

Hippychic79 · 16/12/2016 09:53

Thanks Sk1pper - i appreciate it.
I haven't got any friends tTC, they've either got kids already or don't want them. I feel like you ladies are the only ones who understand how it feels ... especially around the 2ww time.... it's a tricky balance between staying positive and being pragmatic.
Fingers crossed we both get our bfp
Xxxxxxxxx

Hippychic79 · 16/12/2016 10:02

Thank you for welcoming me Hepkestrel
Woah 6 days late... fingers crossed you get your bfp xxxxx

AliceScarlett · 16/12/2016 10:10

Nicky and Scottish!!! Congrats! Love love love it when long term TTC'ers get a BFP. Yay!!!

Thought I'd do a quick update, as fell off thread.

-DH SA came back normal, phew.
-I'm not ovulating :(
-Going to try to get one more 21 day blood test + prolactin, then be referred to fertility clinic
-Maybe I'll conceive on clomid?
-I'm currently 21DPO! and refusing to test. Every month I get my hopes up and end up pissing on a £5 note. Not doing it.

Hippychic79 · 16/12/2016 10:25

Hey Alice - have you tried acupuncture?
I've been going for about 3 months and it's helped regulate my cycle and to ovulate.
A great read - the holistic approach to fertility by Gerad kite - it's on Amazon
Xxxxxx

Londonjam · 16/12/2016 12:38
