My AF due tomorrow ish, (cycles 28-37 days, tomorrow day 34 which is my average cycle length) so hoping she doesn't arrive. Not testing today, but if she doesn't come tomorrow I will be poas first thing. I find this time so nerve-wracking, I just hate waiting and wondering.

Bow first time using opks this month for me and I didn't get a dark line even though I know I ovulated just can't pin down whether it was Saturday or Monday

I caved and poas this morning AF not due till either Saturday or Monday so wasn't expecting anything really and didn't get even a squinter.

flamingflamingo - this is my first month of trying when I haven't been breast feeding and I'm SO excited about it - I feel like I'm starting all over again and that I want to write off all my previous 7-8 cycles and class this as cycle 1

I can't help fantasising about getting a BFP early December and conjuring up ideas about how to tell DH on Christmas Day....

Writer - this is my first month of ttc and first month of using OPKs. Still working out what my cycle is after stopping the pill in August. That's a really strong positive you got! I see you got your stronger +ve this morning...I thought it was best not to use FMU on OPK and to wait until later on...is this not right?
Binky - that's reassuring to know that I'm not the only one failing to get a strong line!

I really don't think it matters what time you use OPKs - I don't know why FMU would be a problem?

Around my expected ovulation date I usually test three times a day: as soon as I wake up, early afternoon and then before bed and I've had plenty of strong ones with my FMU tries.

Writer it does matter, FMU is not good for OPKS but great for HPT. You should ideally do OPKS around 2pm when your body has a good high.

But I've always had high readings first thing in the morning so it can't be that much of a problem? If an LSH surge is occurring why does it matter what time the test is done? Why is 2pm urine so special?

I'm jumping on, I'm still on November bus but because I'm only due AF on 7th I thought that I could be greedy and be on two buses.

Cycle - zillionth (this is clomid induced ovulation. Scan on CD17 shown 1 folicale measuring at 16mm) No positive OPK during predicted ovulation.

Week 2 of 2WW begins - I've only thought about POAS about 84 times :) zero symptoms so far but way too early just have no patience

Basically you can surge in the AM but it can take 4 hours to reach your urine. So if you're asleep for 8 hours, your basically killing off that surge. If you're getting a strong result, the likelihood is you surged the night before, which means you could be missing the best time to DTD.

I did another OPK about an hour ago after what you said earlier and it looks a little fainter but still positive do you think?

I think this month I'm still going to use OPKs for another week based on my strange double surge last month, I want to see if it happens again.

I've been using the Clear Blue duel hormone OPK this month. It says to use FMU to detect a rise in estrogen which is high fertility. I've been getting a flashing smiley face for the last 3 mornings so it has detected this. Now that it's trying to detect the LH surge/peak fertility should I switch to using it in the afternoon?

I've tried checking the instructions and it says:

Test once a day
Only test once a day until you see High Fertility - For reliable High Fertility results you must use the urine from after your longest sleep. - When you have seen High Fertility you can test more often, but avoid excess fluid intake before testing.

If I continue to test once a day should it still be in the morning?

Nothing really to report over here. 9DPO today. I did have some low down pains yesterday but it was probably unrelated.

Last month I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks so have no idea what day of my cycle I am but stopped bleeding about 2 weeks ago.

Started to do opk's a week ago and have been positive for five days now. Usually i ovulate the day after getting a positive result.

Anyone any ideas what's going on?

Hi Stephy. The instructions are not that clear. I use the CB dual as well and you are meant to start out testing with FMU. You can test more often after high fertility. What I do is keep testing with FMU as the baseline, but after 2-3 days of flashy smileys, I test again in the late afternoon/evening as well to see if I can catch the peak before the FMU test the next day - apparently the surge can often happen in the afternoon. I've nearly always hit peak fertility (solid smiley) in the late afternoon/evening test, so I know it's given me a few extra hours warning that I'm in peak mode. I've learnt that I always get at least 3 days of high fertility before hitting peak, so I don't start testing twice a day earlier than that in order not to waste tests. You just have to make sure that you haven't drunk too much fluid when not testing with FMU so that your urine is not too diluted. The CB dual does work differently to other OPKs and it's expensive, so very annoying if you mess it up (as I did first month of using it...) Hope that helps!

used a cheap £2 "sure sign ultra early" (15mlU) with second urine of day (held for 8hrs as busy in work)
afraid to get hopes up incase it doesnt stick as seems to have happened too easily, off mini pill 1 month & already got bfp? also bought frer 2pack @ £8 but will keep those for next week

I did a sneaky IC this afternoon after desperately holding a wee for 4 hours. BFN but I'm consoling myself that I'm only 8dpo and it wasn't FMU. The POAS addiction is back...
