I'm out, 9dpo and spotting bright red blood. Onto cycle 6...! Bugger. I think I'm going to start looking at different supplements for me and DH, at least it feels like we're doing something then!

Piehunter · 13/11/2016 16:40

Oh and as an added bonus for the second month in a row I've got thrush before my period Angry I've had hormonal issues years ago- part of reason I went on the pill- with cystitis before AF but this time it seems to be thrush. What a joy it is to be a woman!

Eva30 · 13/11/2016 17:24

Oh I'm so sorry pie, that is a real double whammy.
pjs and jene you definitely don't need simmers! Two ladies at my work have just had babies, one is 38 and one is 39 :)
Hope everyone has had a good weekend

bassetmum · 13/11/2016 17:53

So sorry pie that af arrived. Do you normally have a shorter lp? Never had thrush but I hope you feel better soon.

Im now in the tww must not symptom spot. Managed 3.5 dtd this fw so fingers crossed.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. Ive spent most of it out of the house so no housework has been done oops.

Sorry to hear that pie. Onwards and upwards lady; wine this week and a new chance next week. Sending a squeeze your way and a tube of canesten
basset you're going to have to explain the 0.5 DTD!

Side note - what's everyone's DTD cycle? As soon as AF has finished we do every other day, then every day if we can for the 3 days over ov, then I consider the rest of the month "just for fun" (which works out 1-2 times a week). Should we be doing more after ov just in case?

TheCatsMother99 · 13/11/2016 18:58

Ah, pie, that's rubbish! I'm sure women have to deal with loads more than men do. Maybe it's because we handle things better Grin.

I cant wait for this tww to be over, either way, I'm so impatient so I just want to know! I kinda know I won't be pregnant, as I think it's rare to fall pregnant on your first cycle so as strange as it sounds I want to hurry up and get to my next fw... I think I've already lost the plot. Haha.

Eva30 · 13/11/2016 19:00

Haha kirsty that's what I was going to ask, basset 0.5 DTD lol.
kirsty I try every other day from about cd9 until after ov but it really depends how tired we are as to whether it actually happens, some months are more successful than others!

TheCatsMother99 · 13/11/2016 19:00

I'm not as frequently as you, kirsty, we are about once a week and then trying every 2-3 days in fertile week but definitely the day of a positive opk.

This sounds awful but we are always both knackered after work so not sure we could do much more!

Pyjamas81 · 13/11/2016 20:03

Hi ladies, have been away all weekend with a friend, so have lots of catching up to do!

Sorry AF arrived pie Sad

And thanks for the 'not old' comments everyone! I know I'm not too old, but can't help but worry at the same time.

Our dtd pattern was every other day until I got positive OPK, then three nights in a row, break for a night, then one more time. Definitely too much for us and it really stressed us (esp me) out. So this month we ditched the opks and went for every other day from about CD11 to CD15. Probably didn't work, but I sure feel much less stressed!

Seahawk80 · 13/11/2016 20:16

Sorry for AF pie Cake Wine

bassett I'm another one wondering about the 0.5! Made me smile!

I've been really up and down the last few days, scan is on tues so nearly there now. Today I'm feeling quite positive. Had a lovely day with a close friend who I haven't seen for a while. I didn't tell her just in case it's bad news on Tuesday as it would be awful to have to pass that on 2 days after telling someone and it was nice to not talk about it and have a fun day. Sometimes a distraction helps so much, I can highly reccomend it to anyone in the TWW!

bassetmum · 13/11/2016 20:22

Haha well on Thursday night we were almost at the important part of dtd (if you get my jist) when OH got foot cramp and it totally killed it for him. Lost it completely. So I'm counting it as 0.5 as they say pre cum can have sperm in it haha.

My (attempted) dtd routine is every other day from cd9 till about cd16/17. Then whenever we feel like it between then and the start of af.

I'm hoping I can find a distraction for the next two weeks.

KirstyinNorway · 13/11/2016 22:02

Good to hear your patterns, thanks. Yeah I should have really stressed the if we can bit of 'every day over ov', we didn't manage that this time because DH was knackered and I was sore Blush
After ov this month we've only DTD once, I was so busy lying still afterwards that I gave myself thrush tmi warning too late and have felt really sorry for myself for nearly a week now. Canesten doesnt seem to work on me but time is a good healer. Going away on a mini break tomorrow and pretty much back to normality now thankfully!

basset you did make me giggle, your poor OH! It is pretty rubbish for the men that they have to be very much in the mood for this thing, I know some nights I just do bare minimum and if I was the male partner, we wouldn't be doing it at all!

Oggy88 · 13/11/2016 22:16

Hey all,

Hope you don't mind me joining. I've been lurking for quite some time (in fact, I think you guys thought me everything I know about ttc!) so thought it's only appropriate I said hi Smile

Me 28, dh 31
Cycle #4

AF arrived today, which wasn't much of a surprise, so I spent the whole day indulging in stuff I've been avoiding for the past two weeks. Lots of coffee, tons of chocolate, sushi for lunch, sauna, then rare steak and wine. Life's good now.
Actually looking forward to the whole December testing thing. A bfp would make a lovely Christmas present! (Would we be able to get away with just that? Grin)

MouseLove · 13/11/2016 22:57

Touch wood ladies. (Snigger) we've DTD every other day since AF f'ed off. So I'm booking in a slot Tuesday and then Thursday it's DHs birthday and we go to Rome so I'm hoping we might manage 3/4 days in a row.

Seriously, DH thinks all his christmas' have come at once!!! I had ZERO drive when on the pill and it was lucky if we did it a few times a month. I'm going to have no fanjo left. But I'm chanting loudly...

ROME CONCEPTION. ROME CONCEPTION. ROME CONCEPTION.

Now I just need my body to play ball, ovulate perfectly and not give me any surprises. Pahahahahaha. So a miracle then. Grin

TheCatsMother99 · 13/11/2016 22:57

Hi oggy !

Your post made me wonder, who else avoids things you shouldn't have during pregnancy, uncooked eggs, cheese, alcohol, caffeine etc, during the tww? I've heard very mixed things online.

MrsG280516 · 13/11/2016 23:15

I don't bother avoiding things personally, cutting down on alcohol in general is good for TTC but if you really want a glass of wine then it won't affect anything. The baby doesn't get any nutrients from you until the placenta grows at 5-6 weeks.

The uncooked eggs thing applies only to eggs that don't have the Red Lion stamp (from local farms etc). You can still have runny eggs when pregnant.

Oggy88 · 14/11/2016 06:40

Is it just what can go through the placenta, though? For example, I read you shouldn't have too much caffeine very early on as it can increase chances of the bean not sticking and early mc.

Pyjamas81 · 14/11/2016 07:04

I personally don't cut things out - 9 months will be enough abstinence for me! If after tests I find out there's an issue, I'll reconsider, but trying to keep life as normal as possible until then! I only have one coffee a day in the morning, I'm vegetarian so don't eat meat anyway, don't typically drink until weekend (maybe thirsty Thursday on occasion!)

LisaSimpsonsbff · 14/11/2016 07:07

I've been (very halfheartedly) cutting down on caffeine and alcohol since TTC, as much to make it a bit easier in pregnancy as for any other reason! I haven't exactly been sticking rigidly to this, though... For me personally it would increase the stress too far to live like I was pregnant two weeks of every month.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 14/11/2016 07:08

Oh, and hi oggy!

bassetmum · 14/11/2016 07:22

All Ive been doing so far is reducing my caffeine intake. I don't drink very often anyway so that's not a problem.

Hi oggy welcome to our group

OP posts:
Oggy88 · 14/11/2016 07:59

Good to hear people are relaxed about it. I normally just ignore the first week of tww, then become more conscious in the 2nd. I was pretty ridiculous the first cycle. I was 1000% sure I was preggers from 1dpo to such extent that I was even afraid to bend, let alone going for a run Grin

TheCatsMother99 · 14/11/2016 08:43

Oh good. I've been almost the same as usual during the tww, I have cut down drinking a bit but that was more just to get used to drinking less and perhaps make it less obvious to people if/when I really do have to cut it out.

I'm so pleased about eggs though, I love dippy eggs!

KirstyinNorway · 14/11/2016 10:40

I'm moderately allergic to caffeine (yay Sad) so bare minimum in my normal diet anyway. Thankfully it's not a strong enough allergy that I can't eat chocolate or anything - I just can't have more than one weak cup of coffee per day!
I do avoid alcohol while TTC though, just in case. Doesn't bother me, I just drink zero alcohol beer or juice mixed with fizzy water. Less calories anyway. I eat a LOT of sushi though and don't plan to stop until I'm actually pg.
Eggs aren't lion stamped here Sad but I will continue to eat them soft anyway. The danger of contracting salmonella isn't increased by pregnancy and having eaten soft eggs frequently since I moved over here (3 years), I have never had salmonella. It'd be so unlucky to contract it after getting pregnant! The harm is apparently in you not being able to eat/keep down fluids anyway (rather than baby getting sick), so if you were unlucky enough to get it, they would be able to treat you in hospital with a drip and bean shouldn't be affected.

ROME CONCEPION ROME CONCEPTION ROME CONCEPTION!

FairyAnn · 14/11/2016 11:06

Hi all, my partner and I have just decided to start trying and I'm lost already!

Where is the best place to start in terms of threads on MN? And does anyone have a link to the codes everyone is using? AF? dpd? cd?

Thanks :)
