Oh no karen how confusing and frustrating! Have you done another test?

Karendvm · 15/10/2016 23:59

Did another test 3 hours later and finally both were positive. Did some research and easy tests are sensitive to 25, clear blue only to 40. Makes sense now. So easy@home are definitely a keeper, as they will detect my surge earlier. Huge sigh of relief. Really do like seeing that smile on the clear blue though.

HopingForALittleOne · 16/10/2016 00:42

Good to hear karen Grinand useful info. Is 25 reference to the lh surge? I've ordered one step opk strips I'll keep people updated on how I find them xx

Karendvm · 16/10/2016 00:54

From what I can tell hoping a surge is above 20. I'm going to verify it all with the nurse on Monday but that's what I've found from scouring the net. Usually resting Lh is less than 7. Really, it doesn't matter how high it goes as everyone is different. Just an increase will signal your ovaries it's go time. Since my miscarriage I also get bad ovulation pain so I'll see if I experience that tomorrow. I seem to ovulate 24 hours ish after my surge starts.

HopingForALittleOne · 16/10/2016 01:09

Thanks karen the more I read the more nervous I get that I'm going to mess this up. X

INeedNewShoes · 16/10/2016 06:29

The key is for anyone thinking of starting IUI to start tracking asap as it does take a little getting used to.

My clinic wanted a record of my last six cycles before I started (which I don't think is necessary) but I only tracked three cycles before my first IUI.

Glad your smiley face made an appearance Karen Smile

kwick · 16/10/2016 10:09

Oh wank! I feel like I should have looked for lh surge this cycle!! Bugger! Oh well I had not tracked before my I started doing IUI - I will look up my notes from previous cycles kwick slinks off to buy OPKs

Mallorca was great - so nice to see my friend again and she took me on a mini tour of the island. I have been to Mallorca quite a few times, but the island is so beautiful I love going back (especially when not work related!!!).

I think I've finally decided on my Clinic ladies. I think it'll have to be CRGW in Wales. They're so lovely, and as I've said before, I have the added bonus of being able to stay with my oldest/closest friend whilst I'm there.
I know I want to start in January, but I'm undecided whether to have my first consult now to "get it out the way" so I can just start in Jan... Even so, is there anything you lovely ladies suggest I do/take/get before I start the process?! It's come round so quickly... Who knows?! This time next year I could have a baby/be pregnant Shock

Karen I'm glad you got your smiley face! I've never actually used the clear blue ones - I think I'm going to have to start to though. When are you going to go ahead with IUI? I remember you saying you were having trouble with clinics?

Kwick Mallorca looked lovely! Sounds like it was just what you needed, too. How's the itching now you've been in the heat?

CautionHormone · 17/10/2016 23:54

Shoes how are you feeling??

Karendvm · 18/10/2016 00:40

Hey caution. I think I'll be starting my next iui cycle in less than 2 weeks. My new clinic is through the hospital and I'm finding they have a lot of hoops to jump through and really stupid rules. I'm feeling a bit mixed about the whole thing. Not feeling positive and that worries me. I guess I've been through so many different situations that getting a positive seems so far out of my reach. Guess there's nothing I can do but try. The money aspect of things is getting me down, but I know if I got pregnant I wouldn't care. Sigh. Not sure why it has to be so difficult.

pickle162 · 18/10/2016 06:55

caution I would book to have a consult sooner. I went for a clinic look round and said I want to start April/may time & they said to book amh test nov/Dec time (would have been earlier but on pill) then see the consultant in January-partly so I get pick of appointments due to how tricky work is as have to book 6weeks in advance...
January is only round the corner so my adv is to contact then and book something in :) exciting
*kwick" it looks beautiful Smile I love menorca just cos I feel so safe there if go alone but been to Majorca a couple of times,it's so stunning
karen try and keep positive, our little shoes had all kind of problems at last iui with clinic giving her the donor that she'd had a negative before and then ta da she is nearly at 12 weeks so something's happen for a reason xx

Karendvm · 18/10/2016 11:46

pickle you are right. Shoes' story does give me hope. Just feel li,e things aren't going smoothly. I guess if I got pregnant once it can happen again. Sorry for being so negative.

CautionHormone · 18/10/2016 12:50

karen I'm sorry to hear you're so negative Sad as I've said before, this journey can be a difficult one sometimes and when you've faced obstacles like you have with clinics and stuff it can be hard. Imagine how you'll feel when you get pregnant. It'll all be worth it then, you'll (hopefully) be able to forget how stressful the lead up to it was. We're all here for you Flowers

pickle, good thinking. You're right, January is only round the corner, and if I delay any more I may not be able to go ahead in Jan like I want too. Only thing putting me off slightly is my Dad isn't 100% keen. I know I'm 25 and can do what I want and I'd have his support whatever, but he's just so old fashioned 😂 he just wants me to be happy so I think he wouldn't mind so much once I am pregnant, it's just getting his head around HOW I'm getting pregnant...
I'll speak to my friend and see when she's available for me to stay. Then I'll see when the clinic has free appointment wise and see what fits and book... Arghhhh! Nervous!

kwick · 18/10/2016 19:51

caution never too soon to start on supplements and foods like avocado/sweet potatoes etc

karen what a frickerty fcuk! Really sorry you are feeling down... this is a bugger of a journey and for some us lucky ones so many hoops to jump through.
Please do not apologise - this is what we are here for - to be a virtual support network and if you cannot be honest here where can you be??

pickle WTF??? Six weeks notice for leave?? How is that going to work with your treatment?

Ok so sent an email to consultant about taking metformin for PCOS and she has put me Inofoluc which is supposed to do same job but does not have side effects - yay!!! She suggested I take for a month then do IUI - I stopped that right away - I just cannot handle waiting longer!!!
I got her to give me DHEA and 5mg folic acid script - only fricking not even John Bell & Croyden had the DHEA - 5-10 wait and my supply is nearly done. Never mind the upped amount if coq10 will do the trick this is called ostrich appriach PMA, a speciality of mine

Itchiness has reached new heights - now have two massive areas on right leg, hands, feet, arms. Have GP appointment on Friday pm - but first trip to Brussels... and maybe AF!!

Well when went to appt they didn't seem to think there will be any problems with that just book as much as possible in advance- I don't know if I will need to do medicated so get more reliable dates, I don't know but that's why they want me to see consultant in Jan. But I told them I don't want work to know if possible so can't just cancel my clinic to be able to come in.....argh! It's freaking me out to be honest, we are trying to build up our new little team so seems completely the wrong time for work but I don't want to put my possible baby on hold arghhhhhh brain ache

CautionHormone · 18/10/2016 20:26

kwick and the rest of you lovely ladies, what supplements do you suggest I start on?? I obviously know that I need to start taking folic acid, but is there anything else I need to start thinking about taking? Is there anything you take that you'd recommend?
And what super foods are best? I remember reading before about what foods were best and what weren't but I really can't remember and because I didn't need to remember them at the time I didn't, so I apologise for you having to repeat yourself!

I'm going to get my dr to do the AMH bloods so I don't pay need to pay for them as another expense, but I'll email the clinic beforehand and ask them what they want from me and what they don't.

Glad you've got a GP appointment booked kwick! My auntie has come out in loads of psoriasis-looking rashes and the pharmicist told her it was a fungal thing and the cream they gave her cleared it up. Maybe yours is the same??

Karendvm · 18/10/2016 20:58

pickle somehow I missed the 6 weeks leave thing. I've given up worrying about my work. They can just deal with me taking a day here and there. I stress about so much else that I needed to just drop that from my worries.

kwick I hope your dr gives you some answers. Sounds terrible.

StorkAhoy · 19/10/2016 00:34

Himall!

Just a quicky, have got the hang of injections, have injected over the Atlantic during turbulence, and today dashed off a subway train, bolted up the stairs to the nearest ladies clothing shop, grabbed a jumper and pretended to try it on so I could shoot up in their fitting rooms.... my thighs are beautifully bruised.

In other news I have found the most wonderful MP3 of fertility affirmations, bloody loving them!

Karen, chin up honey. Xx

Kwick, I really want to know what the itching is about!

Caution, email CRGW, they will tell you what prep to do e.g., cq10, folate etc.

kwick · 19/10/2016 07:56

caution the food and supplements usually take some months to have a positive impact so the sooner you start, the better.
For the supplements it is a good idea to talk to your clinic - but I have to say mine is not very forthcoming - I have said I take x and they say yes - so good to do your own research (it starts with the egg is a great book).
In terms of food:
Walnuts
Cinnamon
Leafy greens
Salmon
Sweet potato
Cayenne pepper

Well done stork!!! On a plane eh? Wow! What are you on?

Need to have a bit of a moan:
Not only is itchiness getting me down but feet and leg are really hurting. I often get foot pain but it has really flared up this last week and now my right leg has decided to join in... I did see a podiatrist some years ago who said it was plantar fashitis (sorry I know that is spelled wrong) but the pain changes/area of foot in pain. I know I need to lose weight - hopefully the new wonder drug will help give me a boost... moan moan moan...

INeedNewShoes · 19/10/2016 08:40

Morning everyone Smile

Pickle - You are going to have to put yourself first. There's no way you can plan your IUI six weeks in advance. It won't work and the stress of wondering whether your ovaries will comply with your schedule would be awful! Presumably your clinics don't last all day? So you should be able to nip off for your IUI at some point in the day? If not, you will just have to call in sick if that is the only option.

Caution - Definitely book your consultation for sooner rather than later. I had intended to start IUIs in January but at my consultation in December the clinic requested things which ended up pushing my first attempt back to February. You may as well get going asap, then if anything crops up you can sort it out without feeling that its delaying things.

On supplements, I like the Wild Nutrition Fertility pills. They are crazy expensive but each nutrient is in its natural form which means your body can absorb and metabolise it, whereas a lot of the cheaper supplements are synthetic versions and have all sorts of funny ingredients in the binding. I tried Pregnacare and SevenSeas both of which gave me an upset stomach. The Wild Nutrition ones have given me no side effects whatsoever, but they're £30 a bottle which only lasts one month.

Having said that, the only supplements that are really important are folate and vitamin D.

Your diet is the best place to start. Same as Kwick said, with the addition of a good variety of other fish and vegetables, eggs and full fat dairy.

Kwick - Glad you had a lovely time in Mallorca Smile. Really pleased you've sorted a GP appointment. Definitely mention your foot as well. Are you flat footed? If you are, just sticking some arch support insoles into your shoes can make the world of difference. If it could be plantar fasciitis, rolling your foot over a tennis ball can help to loosen it up.

Stork - You're sounding very positive Smile. Glad everything is going well and that you're coping with the injections. I've managed to learn to inject my heparin without bruising now. Still hurts like hell sometimes though!

Karen - Sorry that things have been a bit of a hassle. Remember that is just admin really and has no bearing on the success of your next attempt. As others have pointed out, given the stress at my last IUI appointment and me feeling so negative about it, it just goes to show that our mental state doesn't really play much of a part in it so just go with it and see what happens.

I have my 12-week scan next week. It can't come soon enough! I've had period pain like aching the past couple of days which has unnerved me a bit.

pickle162 · 19/10/2016 10:29

I have full clinics mon-fri all day, with every other Friday off but my clinic is an hour away so will be difficult to nip off for anything. I see very high risk patients so cancelling on day isn't really an option. I'll just have to really track my cycle and book a week annual leave. To be honest I can't really think about it too much now otherwise it'll freak me out and I won't sleep for months.i will deal with it closer to the time and it will have to stay locked in a corner of my brain for a while. It's all too complicated-goes into bury head in the sand mode

CautionHormone · 19/10/2016 12:55

Wow stork! You've definitely got the hang of injecting - doing it over the Atlantic during turbulence is surly pro level?? How's NY going?
I've emailed CRGW already, but that's to find out what bloods they'd need from me. I'll ask more about supplements when they email me back :)

kwick, I'll put all them on my shopping list. And I'll definitely have a mooch around online for the book & order that, too. I can imagine the sooner you start with the supplements the better, so I'm going to wait until CRGW email me back about my bloods & then ask them about supplements and such, to see what they suggest and get started on them straight away. At the rate I'm going it'll probably be more like February/March time before I actually start so the supplements will be in my system a good few months.

shoes I'm looking at booking my consult for November. My friend is starting a new job, and she's got to wait to find out how her training is going to fall to work out what days she has off (so I can go and stay) but she finds out four weekly so I should be able to find out beginning of November, then I can book my appointment. It just saves driving five hours in a day, or booking a hotel for the night. Plus I get to see her Grin.
I like the sound of the supplements you're using, even though they're on the pricey side. Where do you get them from? I've struggled with low vitamin D in the past - so I need to make sure I'm on supplements for that, for definite.

Thank you all for being so helpful 😘 Don't know what I'd do without you ladies...!!
