Shoes very happy to hear your news ( I feel like I've been on the journey with quite a few of you reading all the threads from beginning)

Lady told me that AHM will be ready for consultation next week but I may ring up just before to check. Thanks for explaining about /52 = weeks pickle Smile

pickle162 · 08/10/2016 22:14

I got my letter confirming my appointment and it says I can ring up 3-5days following the blood test so may be able to get them a little bit sooner.
I wish I could get mine done sooner but they wanted me off the pill for a couple of months first!!!!doh!!!

CautionHormone · 09/10/2016 17:30

Hi ladiesssssss!!!

How is everyone doing??

Kwick when I read about what your consultant wrote in his report my jaw literally dropped..!! That's really bad, and so unprofessional!! I'm angry for you. Let us know if you hear anything back from your email. How's your itching?

Pickle you're full steam ahead now, aren't you!? I love reading that you're making plans and things now... It's so exciting!

Hoping welcome :) sounds like you've got things in place already - when do you get your AMH results back? I'm glad you enjoyed the LWC seminar - I went to an open evening at my local clinic and loved it too. You got your consult pretty quick... Are you excited?!

Shoes that's fantastic news! I'm SO glad and relieved that there's a healthy heartbeat and it's measuring at nine weeks - fingers crossed this is your time! I'm so happy for you!!!!

Karen don't beat yourself up for grieving. You're going to, he was your baby and you loved him. He took a piece of your heart - allow yourself time to heal. Flowers

I think I'm coming down with a chest infection now... 😂 This is starting to get unreal, it's been one thing after another since June/July time. I haven't caught a break!
I have an appointment booked with my GP on the 24th of October to discuss whether he can refer me to Birmingham Womans Fertility Clinic, because even if you're self-funding you have to have a GP referral. My GP is fairly good, and would do it if I asked him (I think), but I'm not getting my hopes up. I'd rather go there because it's so much cheaper because they're a hospital and not a clinic; it's £400 for donor sperm, and £550 for IUI (£600 for stimulated)!

Hope you're all having a lovely Sunday ladies. X

CautionHormone · 09/10/2016 17:32

Birmingham Woman's Fertility Centre, I meant, not Clinic! I'm so used to writing 'Clinic' that it just automatically came out haha!

kwick · 10/10/2016 08:20

caution sorry to hear you are not well again. Take it easy, ok?

Itchiness still continues at varying degrees. Think my body may have just found a new way to express stress...

Oh well! Have horrid 3 days ahead culminating in a presentation to top dogs at work, then a trip to Paris for two days of meetings and then Mallorca for the weekend to see a friend.

OP posts:
CautionHormone · 11/10/2016 10:18

Kwick * most certainly will take it easy Wink.

That's chaos Sad what an awful way for your body to express stress! It must be driving you up the wall.

Ooh good luck with your presentation. You'll be great. Have fun in Paris and Mallorca!

Latenightreader · 11/10/2016 16:31

So happy for you shoes!

I've been staying away for a bit because I knew that timingwise I couldn't make an attempt in September (I was away at a conference the week I was due to ovulate) and I was a bit choked about that. Not to be and fingers crossed that the next attempt goes well. It also means that I can have a glass of fizz at a friend's wedding, so I'm finding the positives! Just keep your fingers crossed that my lovely Dr is on duty on the day I need her...

Latenightreader · 11/10/2016 16:31

Now I need to read back through and catch up with everyone else...

Karendvm · 11/10/2016 17:53

Sitting waiting for my hycosy. Not looking forward to this.

INeedNewShoes · 11/10/2016 18:05

Have you taken some painkillers Karen? I do think they help.

Good luck Flowers

pickle162 · 11/10/2016 18:19

Hey all, so yesterday I became a real auntie :) and Sunday by besties baby was born-2gorgeous little boys 💙
Hi late nice to have you back, good luck for your next round x
How did the hycosy go karen thinking of you x

Ooh caution not too long to wait to see Gp,how exciting! Keep us up to date :)

Ah what I wouldn't give to go to Mallorca right now (if only)

Karendvm · 11/10/2016 18:36

Back in the waiting room with some juice and crackers. Guess I looked a bit pale. Doing ok so far. Tubes are clear, just like before. Have an hour drive home and then will rest for a bit.

pickle162 · 11/10/2016 20:06

Do you have to wait for a while until you can have next iui karen. Safe drive home

HopingForALittleOne · 11/10/2016 20:20

Hope you feel better soon Karen

HopingForALittleOne · 11/10/2016 20:22

Hope you feel better soon Karen xx

Karendvm · 11/10/2016 21:28

Hey all. Headed in to work soon. Feel like staying in bed though! pickle I have to meet with a case worker before I can get going with an iui. I'm getting a bit fed up with everything, but oh well. It will happen soon I hope.

kwick · 12/10/2016 07:11

Congratulations Auntie pickle!!!

karen so glad that the hycosy went well. Good that the clinic takes care of you (wish mine did!).

I know how disappointing it is to miss a cycle, not to mention frustrating late when is your next try starting?

I am waiting for AF - due next Thursday - and then will hopefully start a natural IUI cycle.

Have huge presentation today with big wigs... on way to work to swot up somemore. Then this evening have to dash home to pack, another early start for Paris tomorrow am...no wonder I am getting wrinkles!

OP posts:
Latenightreader · 12/10/2016 14:00

AF due soon - didn't test for ovulation this month as I wasn't trying, but I think it'll probably be over the weekend, so another fortnight.

Hope the presentation goes well kwick, and enjoy Paris! Is it work or pleasure?

Karen make sure you look after yourself.

Congratulations pickle!

kwick · 12/10/2016 15:02

Ok so had a long chat with Dr who scanned me during Hycosy:

  • she apologised for indicating I had 2 ovaries
  • she reassured me that there were no issues with seeing what they needed to but my high BMI means that they have to use the "penetration" mode of the scanner...
  • there are other reasons why this mode maybe needed - wearing body lotion, oil, perfume, skin type can all interfere with scanning
  • we had a long chat about PCOS and weight loss and she suggested I chat with my consultant about taking metformin again (I took it for a while about 7 years ago but stopped as it made me feel nauseous... I think I am made if harder stuff now after all the hormones and so on)
  • also discussed removal of ovary over 20 years ago, apparently it would not be treated like that today, they would always try to leave behind healthy tissue
  • learnt that ovaries and tubes are FULLY mobile aka tubes gravitate each cycle to ovary that is likely to ovulate to get their "hands" on the released egg
  • my ovary and tubes are patent and fully mobile Smile
Am very pleased that I did the Hycosy, even though it hurt like fuck also pleased I queried report - am now much more educated Grin

late Paris is for work, Mallorca is for pleasure

Meeting went well - am about to go into another one but I am not presenting... phew!

OP posts:
Karendvm · 12/10/2016 15:47

kwick I didn't know about that-that the tubes are mobile. Interesting. Had a bad night, wondering if it will ever happen for me. I get an incredible amount of strength from you ladies. Thanks for being there for me. It's been a rotten year. I'm so anxious to do another iui. I hate waiting for appointments! I left the private clinic to go to the public one and now I'm questioning myself. No way to go but forward though. Hugs to everyone.

kwick · 12/10/2016 20:14

karen sorry you had a bad night... I have those sometimes so I blank out negative thoughts by watching Tati on YouTube Grin

Ladies I have a new affliction in the itchiness saga: see photo of itchy patch on thigh which seems swollen - just came up in meeting number 2 this pm... Sad
Right now feet are on fire with itchiness too - have just put hydrocortizone on them... may take an anti-histamine if that does not kick in before I go to sleep...

OP posts:
CautionHormone · 12/10/2016 22:26

Congratulations Auntie Pickle! Do they have names yet? How precious! You must be besotted already 💙

Karen I'm sorry you had a bad night. You'll be okay. This can be a stressful journey and make you question things but it'll be alright in the end!

Kwick how long has your itching been going on for now?? It's been a good few weeks hasn't it? Have you tried calamine lotion? ( Is that the right name?! The one you use for chicken pox haha Wink ) maybe you need to go to the pharmacist/Drs when you get a spare moment (if you can get in!) because it must be driving you spare Sad. How did your presentation go?

I'm still undecided about clinics. Birmingham is closer but I've been speaking with Wales and they seem absolutely lovely. Plus my best friend lives about twenty minutes from their Clinic, and it's a good excuse to see her a lot (I haven't seen her for four years!). What do you lovely lot think?

Hope you're all having a lovely week.

Karendvm · 13/10/2016 00:12

caution go with the clinic you have the best feeling about. It's important to be comfortable and trust them.

kwick That rash is getting crazy. Please get some medical advice! You must be reacting to something. I feel terrible for you. Hope you get t sorted soon. I'm excited for your up coming iui!

kwick · 13/10/2016 12:36

caution I think it also important that it is not too arduous to get to the clinic... some cycles I have had to go every day over a period of more than a week!!

I have tried calamine lotion - it hust gives temporary relief. Defo need to see GP but when???

Presentation went well - I did not say anything and then at end President if my division

OP posts:
CautionHormone · 13/10/2016 13:39

karen I have the best feeling about the clinic in Wales. They are so lovely and are really accommodating for the fact I am quite far away...

kwick I agree, but at the moment as I am not working (long story) I will be able to stay with my friend in Wales and will be able to get to the clinic every day. I could always have my first consult there and see how things go.

Glad your presentation went well - not so great about the calamine lotion though. Sometimes having such a busy schedule is a curse for things such as needing to get into the doctors - I hope you find the time soon!
