Mpp - I remember all that stress!

The Gonal f is really easy. Lots of instructions and video clips on the Internet to use it. You'll be stabbing yourself like a pro soon. If you want to PM me I can send you my phone number - I'm not an expert on any of this but happy to talk anything through. Make sure you have an extra prescription for Gonal f as lucie says - I needed extra of that and had a horrific panic getting hold of that and my trigger shot as I didn't have the prescriptions to hand. Ali's pharmacy has been a god send for me for emergency drugs - do get hold of their phone number and email as a sanity saver.

Itsme how are you?

Sammy I'm still crossing everything for you.

Banana mate hope you are ok.

Wave to everyone else.

bananafish81 · 13/07/2016 19:45

Lucie not at all! Smile My POV definitely wasn't very helpful given my meds didn't come from the same supplier - you're the Reprofit expert. Sounds so stressful trying to get hold of additional meds - if the process wasn't stressful enough! Made me realise how lucky I was to be able to get meds immediately from my Dr's office - went in for a follow up consult after the hysto, and came out with a 900iu Gonal-F pen so we could start stims the next day. Similarly when we pushed trigger back and needed more Cetrotide, I left with two boxes in my handbag.

Itsme - thinking of you

Boris - hope all is well with mini Boris

AFM, just waiting for my scan on Friday, to see how I've responded to the patches. I suspect it will be borderline at best, and that we'll end up going down the stims route. But we'll see

Itsme247 · 13/07/2016 19:45

Oh god, the meds sound like a logistical nightmare. Thank goodness for you ladies!

They didn't call me today with an update, its not really worth anything to check them as it won't change the outcome!

I am just feeling wholly doubtful, which I suppose is a good thing but it's better than getting carried away!

lucieloos · 13/07/2016 19:50

Yes it is a little more complicated but the price saving more than makes up for it. I normally just ask to order an extra cetrotide or two or build in an extra day or two to my stimms. I have a nice little back up stash now if I need it and as Boris said Ali's in London is a godsend with their next day delivery. I have to say it was lovely to have the NHS cycle and to just be given everything there and then but I wouldn't pay the prices in this country as we wouldn't have been able to have nearly as many tries so there's pros and cons I guess.

OP posts:
bananafish81 · 13/07/2016 20:05

Yes definitely! A stash is always good to have in the arsenal

Meds prices are crippling - my meds bills for my first and second cycles were £2000 a pop Shock

We spent £18,000 on our first two cycles and all we had to show for it was a dead baby Sad

No NHS funding and going abroad would have been very difficult, because with several existing health conditions, my fertility consultant has had to liaise closely with three other consultants. It's quite challenging even when they all practice out of the same hospital, so trying to joint the dots between the various specialists with an overseas clinic seemed pretty daunting

When friends say how expensive it is having kids, I think 'Yeah, you want to try making them?!!!'

Itsme247 · 13/07/2016 20:31

I used to worry about the financial side of things, only having one round on NHS etc but I now think fuck it, I'd remortgage to try and get this to work.

Care do a refund package which I think I'll look into. 3 rounds and if no baby 70% back.

After which point, 4 cycles we have agreed to be our limit for our own sanity as a couple. We will be parents one day, just maybe not biologically.

lucieloos · 13/07/2016 21:12

Aww banana I know it's a nightmare. None of this is easy no matter what route we take. There is always something.

Itsme, I looked into the refund package and actually spoke to a consultant at a private fertility clinic and he advised me against it. He said the criteria to get onto the scheme is really strict and you will only be accepted onto it if the clinic are very sure that it will work for you over 3 cycles in which case they are quids in as if it works for you on cycle 1 or 2 then they get to keep your money for the remaining cycles. He said they sound great but he was confident if you were eligible for the scheme then they would get you pregnant for a lot cheaper by just having the normal IVF and just paying for what you need.

Ah, ok. I'll ask for another prescription then. Ifx I've worked this out right, I have 9 days worth of gonal f, so do I not take them on day 10 before the scan? And then what if i do need more? Next day delivery would mean i would miss day 10 completely. I assume thats not good! Also, do I need to make it at the same time each day, and if so, is morning or evening best? I think my brain is going to explode! I'm probably going to really irritate you all with my questions this cycle! Thank you all though. I don't know what I'd do without you!

Lucie we're the same. There's no way we could manage the prices in this country. It would seriously limit our tries. We've agreed on 3 at the moment.

Thank you for the offer Boris. I'll pm you!

Banana I hope your scan is OK.

itsme also crossing everything for you and thinking of you xx

lucieloos · 13/07/2016 21:22

MPP, yes you have 9 days worth but you don't start taking them until day 2 of your cycle so that will cover you for day 10. Do your injections in the evenings and book your scan on day 10 for as early as you can that way if you need to order any more hopefully you can do it after the scan on day 10 and hopefully have it delivered next day. You may even have an idea after your first scan if you will need any more.

MPP81 · 13/07/2016 21:32

Arrggghh, I'm such a muppet! I knew that about day 2! I suppose I could order from pharmawell then and pay for the next day delivery again in that case, if I didn't have a physical prescription but I will def email them tomorrow and try to get one just I'm case. Thank you again! I really appreciate it!

lucieloos · 13/07/2016 21:49

You don't need a physical prescription for Ali's in London either. You just email a copy through to them and ring up and pay. They actual meds will be more expensive than Pharmawell but if you add on the next day delivery as well from Pharmawell there probably won't be too much difference. Better to get the prescription sorted now though than to have to try and get hold of a coordinator at the last minute.

Girls I caved and POAS... There is a second line on my test! Shockno squinting required!!!! I wok DH at 5.30, I think we're both in shock. It's early days as only 10dp3dt so trying to keep my feet on the ground, but this is the first time the test hasn't been stark white.

Lucie well done for doing your bloods :). Xx

loopylou1984 · 14/07/2016 06:04

Tell me we're not seeing things?!

Trying to conceive for 10 months or more. Thread 5. All ten plussers welcome.
bananafish81 · 14/07/2016 06:27

THAT'S A LINE!!!!

Borisisback · 14/07/2016 06:36

sammy!!!!!!!!!

I'm crying with joy for you and your DH and I don't even really know you.

How wonderful to see another little miracle.

loopylou1984 · 14/07/2016 06:57

I can't believe it!

Rrrr Boris thank you. It's still 5 days until OTD and until I can call the clinic.

Borisisback · 14/07/2016 06:59

I peed on about 20 sticks in the first few days. Hope you can be a little more restrained but it's such a shocker to see another line...

bananafish81 · 14/07/2016 07:03

Sammy this is the best!!

I got my BFP the same day -8dp5dt (ie 13 dpo) - and my OTD wasn't until 12dp5dt (ie 17 dpo). I tested on a Sunday and fessed up the following day- don't know if your clinic does bloods, but my Dr got me in for a beta / progesterone check. If it had been BFN I'd have had to wait till OTD to stop meds, but for BFP they were happy to get me in for bloods sooner

So so so happy for you and Mr Sammy!!

loopylou1984 · 14/07/2016 07:19

I don't know if they do bloods, they gave me a test to use at home on Tuesday and I have to call with the result. I might call them Saturday and confess!

Boris. There's no way I'll be restrained... I have about 15 ICS plus two FRERS in the cupboard. Agh!!!

At least it makes these pessaries worth it. I had three boxes of Lutigest so three applicators. I have managed to throw two applicators in sanitary towel bins when doing my lunch time pessary so am down to the last one now! Might have to ask for a replacement!

lucieloos · 14/07/2016 07:51

Sammy!!!! I knew it!!! Congratulations lovely that's brilliant news. That's a pretty good line on an ic for 13dpo. Mine were quite faint on those for a while. Do a frer later this afternoon or tomorrow (apparently afternoon urine is more concentrated) Congrats again Ahhh amazing news!

Itsme247 · 14/07/2016 07:55

Sammy!!! Yay!!!!! This is amazing I am so so happy for you, I love a BFP on this thread - amazing news :) xx

Itsme247 · 14/07/2016 07:56

Ooh to think it could be TWINS!!

loopylou1984 · 14/07/2016 08:00

Thank you all. Im still being cautious as its so early, but it's difficult not to get carried away. I tested because I felt light headed all day yesterday, still have the same feeling today actually.

I'm scared to do the FRER - not sure why!

Thank you everyone for being so lovely.

loopylou1984 · 14/07/2016 08:01

Itsme ConfusedSmile

lucieloos · 14/07/2016 08:02

Sammy, the line on the frer will be much darker than the line on the cheapy so don't be scared. I would have been scared to do the cheapy haha.
