mysterious Yes, i'd only be offered clomid or IVF via the NHS if I didn't have DD. I'm on my first cycle of clomid and had to pay £500. That included 4 months worth and 2 scans for my first cycle. Well at first they offered me a blood test to check I was ov'ing, then they offered me an internal scan to see if they could see anything on my ovaries and they also ran other bloods to check my egg reserve and hormone levels. DP was also given a sperm analysis. I requested a hycosy (lap and dye) due to DD's disastrous birth, as I thought there could be a blockage of scar tissue, they agreed and there wasn't a blockage. All this was how I was diagnosed with PCOS. I then made an appt for clomid as although I ovulate on my own fairly regularly, it's not every month and I am getting so impatient!

VillageFete · 08/05/2016 21:42

Yes Meg definitely think I developed it. A year after DD's birth I suddenly (for no reason) gained quite a lot of weight and my periods were becoming irregular, I was very spotty and hormonal and I just knew something wasn't right. I was never on the pill though.

Barsons83 · 08/05/2016 21:53

Mysterious just the SA. From what the letter says it sounds like you have the SA and then have a joint appointment to discuss both of you. I'm really hoping we don't have to wait months for it!

Shellbell0403 · 08/05/2016 22:08

barsons i had an ultrasound which confirmed I had pcos and then hubby had SA but seems to be different up here

village i didn't know I had pcos until I came off the pill and put on 2 stone and cycle went mega long...

meg i think the pill caused mine too. I had fairly regular periods until i took the mini pill for 5 months. Nothing since I stopped it. Never could set my clock by it or anything, but certainly had a period regularly.
Thanks village. Wonder what our options will be then! That's not bad for 500 really, I expected it to be more. Are you going completely privately now then?
barsons yeah that's my understanding too. Once i got referred the first time the nearest appointment was about 7 weeks later. When I called in early march about the cancelled appointment they were booking 2 months ahead. So it isn't too bad, although a month feels like an age when ttc. I guess the timing would depend on the area you're in too. Hope you don't have too long a wait!

mysteriousbat · 08/05/2016 22:18

Oh and my first hint something was wrong was putting on a shed load of weight. All around the stomach. Although I'm still hovering at the upper limit of a healthy bmi, i have skinny arms and legs but have to wear much bigger clothes because of my stomach. Which I hate. I always used to be naturally slim

MegGriffin1 · 08/05/2016 22:24

I was on the pill for ten years. Always been a size 8 to 10 slim waist. No spots or hairiness! Was a shock, I had an u/s three years ago when on the pill that showed no cysts but last month after a year off the pill I suddenly have pcos !

Barsons83 · 08/05/2016 22:38

Pill has a lot to answer for. My cycles were every 35 days or so before going on it. 16 years later having come off it I've had 2 cycles over 120 days. I think we should be warned before going on it! If I had known I'd be in this position I wouldn't have gone on it!!!

MegGriffin1 · 08/05/2016 22:40

Me neither barsons. Damn pill!

Hi ladies

Just popping in to say hi. Not much to report here. AF is finished and so now I guess we wait and see what happens. Tentative congratulations to those with BFPs - lovely news. Will keep my fingers quietly crossed for you.

I have managed to lose another 0.5kg this week so healthy lifestyle is clearly paying off. Still a little way to go but every little helps. I feel better too. Let's hope my crazy ovaries get the message! Have a good day all!

Meg im exactly like you- always been petite, lucky with my skin, and had regular cycles before the pill. Was on Cilest for 10 years and now suddenly I have PCOS! I wouldn't be surprised if the pill had something to do with it!

Well ladies just had my second round of blood tests (the day 2-5 ones). I've already had the day 21 tests, and the scan- is there anything else I need to do? GP said he was referring me to a specialist- will that include DH? He really doesn't want to do the SA but I think he's going to have to right? Confused

DrewOB1 · 09/05/2016 11:43

Hello all! New week of hot weather.
Has anyone got a theory on breast pain not related to AF?
Period is due end of the week I think.

Shellbell0403 · 09/05/2016 12:24

Drew mine is too!! I have sore boobs but no sign of af!! The hospital said mine should be here either today or Wed but my app says friday!

mysteriousbat · 09/05/2016 12:48

blondie yeah he will have to as they might give you all the right stuff to help with pcos and he may not have very good swimmers, they need to know the whole picture. Which is a good thing, but OH isn't thrilled about it either. he took it far better than I expected he might in the end though

VillageFete · 09/05/2016 14:07

shell have you been having cramps? My app tells me i'm due on this Sunday, but I ovulated two weeks ago between Mon & Wed thanks to clomid, so surely this means AF is due between today & Wed?

Anyway, i've bought an Asda pregnancy test & my clearblue advanced fertility monitor also doubles as a pregnancy test, so will do both in the morning. Not too hopeful as i've had period like cramps for almost a week & my mood has been awful. The only thing different this month is that i've had a few stabbing pains, my boobs aren't sore & i'm a little "damp" down there, but this is probably down to the clomid.

I shall report my findings tomorrow!

Shellbell0403 · 09/05/2016 14:49

Village looks as though we maybe tracking twins haha! I ovulated two weeks ago too!! So my af should be making a show. Right now I have a sore-ish feeling in my boobs and white CM. Had cramping yesterday and today sort of but I normally don't really get cramps before AF. All weird! To scared to test so might just go with the flow and see what happens??

OP posts:
VillageFete · 09/05/2016 15:25

Oh shell I think you are so pregnant! I too have white cm which is a little unusual. Don't want to jinx us but I had a dream on Sat night that both you & I got our bfp's on this thread! Just call me Psychic Village Wink

Shellbell0403 · 09/05/2016 18:00

village i so wish you were right!! Fingers toes and all crossed! Haha. I'm actually you scared to test, don't know how much longer I can handle the disappointment.. so are you going to test tomorrow? Xx

OP posts:
VillageFete · 09/05/2016 18:27

Shell Yes, going to test in the morning, so scared!! I think i'm correct in thinking that if we ovulated 2 weeks ago on the Monday, then we'd have had a period today? Do you come on (usually) 14 dpo?

I'm so excited to test. It's very rare I get to do it. I usually have all my standard pmt symptoms and know AF is coming, so it's pointless. Because my symptoms are slightly different this month I am going to test.

mysteriousbat · 09/05/2016 18:43

I'm so excited for you both, really hope it's postive news in the morning ;)

Blondie0912 · 09/05/2016 20:56

Fx for you both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SmileSmileSmileSmile

Shellbell0403 · 09/05/2016 21:22

Thanks ladies but I don't think I am 😑 keeping everything crossed for village
