Sammy the pill shouldn’t make any difference to OHSS, as it can be used with short protocol as well - as you say the purpose of the pill is just to enable scheduling. It was the suprecur that I was curious about, as generally an antagonist (short) protocol is less risky for OHSS than a long agonist (down regulation) protocol
It’s fresh in my mind just because I was reading about OHSS and signs & symptoms etc, just in case (given the extra large follie count), and read an HFEA report on minimising OHSS
www.hfea.gov.uk/docs/OHSS_UPDATED_Report_from_Adam_Balen_2008.pdf
Top of page 5 explains why using agonists like Suprecur (buserelin) increases the risk of OHSS - my Dr only uses short protocol for anyone at risk of over stimulating, as Cetrotide enables you to slam the brakes on very quickly, whereas with long protocol you’ve already suppressed everything so there’s no additional brake you can put on. With a short protocol you can also then eliminate the risk of OHSS completely if needed with a buserelin trigger rather than an hCG trigger - no hCG means no OHSS can possibly occur. If you’re already using buserelin as part of the protocol, then you can only trigger with hCG.
I’m doing OK so we’re going to trigger with Ovitrelle (hCG) but obv if I were looking iffy we could swap the trigger if needed.
Lining wise, I think the pregnancy has helped, insofar as I had 2 months of progynova, and that should have upregulated the sleepy oestrogen receptors in my endometrium - my Dr said cumulative oestrogen exposure would help to wake them up, so I’m hoping that’s what it’s done. Also the cumulative effect of the stims is waking up my ovaries to produce more oestrogen - my Dr got practically giddy that I’d produced any CM at all. So I think my body is learning, as the hormones (rather than the pregnancy) are kicking it into gear.
lucie everything crossed for your bloods tomorrow - and hope you have a fab time at mpp’s wedding
trixie amazing news on 4 frosties!! That’s spectacular. Oh and I had cramping the day after ET - think maybe just slight irritation from the catheter. It went away - I did get cramping a few days later which did turn out to be mythical implantation cramping, but the post ET cramping was def just that
Happy anniversary Brenna - hope DH is recovering from his tête-à -tête with the ham!
Maple brilliant news about the AF - the pill totally has so much to answer for as far as lining is concerned
bean all the hugs. And definitely all the
