Thread for anyone TTC for over ten months. Please feel free to join us!

Took the liberty of starting a new thread (with what is obviously a brilliant piece of rhyme!) as I assume everyone else is sleeping peacefully right now :)

Yay stealth!! So pleased for you! Do they tell you the levels straight away?

stealthbanana · 25/04/2016 17:39

I had to wait a couple of hours but it was pretty quick. \Smile/

Brenna24 · 25/04/2016 18:52

That is brilliant Stealth.

I have had a bit more spotting this afternoon and the odd cramp but we are still hanging in there. I am still not getting my hopes up.

RebeccaNoodles · 25/04/2016 20:12

Great news Stealth.Smile Keep it up!

Brenna, can only imagine how you feel. Sometimes the hope is worse than anything! Take it one day at a time, maybe. Do you plan to see a doc soon?

I have a (possibly silly) question ... Our first IVF appointment is on 11 May. We then go on hols on 14 May for 2 weeks. And AF is due 17 May.

Does that mean I'll begin injecting/sniffing while away? Or will they wait to start for first AF after I get back? Probably the latter I guess but wondered if anyone could advise me. I'd rather not be injecting in hotel rooms like a junkie ... I know it depends on protocol etc but just wondering.

Rebecca - I don't think they'll let you start when you're going away as you'll need monitoring scans in that time. Most likely will be the AF after you return.

Stealth! Congrats on the numbers, fab news :).

Brenna - keeping everything crossed for you.

Trixie - week that's soon! Yay!
I wanted to be a young mum too. Can't believe I was 27 when we started. Never dreamt that I wouldn't yet have a baby in my 31st year :(.

Maple - good luck for your AMH!

Itsme - that's tricky re donating eggs. Personally I'd have no problem in donating to help someone else . No problem with potential biological children finding me. The thing that has always bothered me is that any future child of mine could end up dating a half sibling without knowing!

We have booked a mini holiday to Tenerife! Only 3 days, but I can't wait! Xx

bananafish81 · 25/04/2016 20:38

lucie hope you’re doing OK, weekend pottering in the garden sounds lovely.

brenna everything crossed for you and hoping you feel less full of lurgy. Dr told me cramping and spotting was very normal and to take paracetamol if needed, full red flow was potentially more concerning (although many women do get proper bleeding and everything turns out to be fine)

Itsme DH and I talked about egg donation, if my eggs weren’t crap (and I didn’t have health issues that meant even if they weren’t, I’d probably not be allowed to donate) I would absolutely donate. We said it would be a good karma thing to do - I have a friend who was an altruistic egg donor, who went through the whole process just to donate, which I thought was an amazing thing. I don’t see an egg as being anything more than a cell, and I don’t think genetics makes you a parent, so for me personally, if I could help another couple to become a family, I’d be really happy to do it. Especially as since my diagnosis, I’ve had to consider the very real possibility that I might need donor eggs to conceive

mpp hope you’re doing OK, and wedding plans are all going nicely!

maple I have lesbian friends who did different things to conceive. One couple did 3 rounds of IVF and several IUIs with different sperm donors, and nothing. Then they did a DIY home insemination (syringe!) with a known donor and boom. Baby boy 9 months later. Then again with a sibling 2 years later. Bonkers.

Other couple have done reciprocal IVF - so one partner is the egg donor, and the other is the recipient (i.e. one is the egg mummy and one is the tummy mummy). Third couple I don’t know what the arrangements were

trixie hope scan went well and everything is looking good

stealth woohoo! Know i’ve congratulated you already but this deserves much celebrating. hCG as you know is relative rather than absolute, i.e. its the rate of doubling that matters

Just checked my numbers
10dp5dt hCG 299, progesterone 175
12dp5dt hCG 509, progesterone 262
16dp5dt hCG 2713 - didn’t get progesterone number

He did a third beta as doubling rate between 1st and 2nd was OK, but just wanted to do another to keep an eye on it, and leapt up

Your levels sound tip top!

Rebecca I would imagine they will wait till after your AF and get you to start sniffing or injecting on day 21 of that cycle, if you’re doing long protocol. If you’re doing short then start jabs after the next AF, I would imagine - at the earliest

AFM, going in for beta tomorrow, I think hysto is a given judging by positive urine test this morning

Oh and I said to baby bomb friend sorry but not feeling up to meeting up, similar due dates and all still very raw etc etc. She sent lovely reply saying she understood completely and had been delaying announcing for a reason. So she was trying to be sensitive to everything that had happened; the thought was there, it was just very poorly executed. So feeling better about that whole friendship at least, albeit gutted I’m not sharing the pregnancy journey with her (and that she instadiffed with number 3, while I’m thousands of pounds down and so far have a dead baby to show for it)

Somewhat ironic that I’m having serial betas with the same Dr as stealth to check how fast my hCG is decreasing

Another patient of his, another MN-er, said she got a DVD after her lap. So I’m anticipating some scintillating viewing of my uterus if I get the same. Although in the vein of telling a future child about IVF, could show them their first home, before they moved in Grin

bananafish81 · 25/04/2016 20:41

Cross post with sammy - break in Tenerife sounds lovely!

Re: being an 'older' mum - if this one had stuck it would have been born 3 weeks before my 35th birthday, so I'd have just escaped having 'elderly primigravida' on my maternity notes. Still, better than 'geriatric mother' which is the term they used to use! Angry

RebeccaNoodles · 25/04/2016 20:45

Thanks Sammy. Even though this is NHS? I got the impression they didn't scan you so often.

I'm sorry you've had such a long slog, too. I hope your time comes soon. Tenerife sounds great! Smile

RebeccaNoodles · 25/04/2016 21:36

Thanks Banana - my post crossed with yours. Good luck with the beta. I'm glad your friend came through for you. I never knew how much this stuff could affect your friendships ... It's good that you were honest with her.

That's quite a thought re your DVD ... Hope it goes well with the doc and that you get to move on soon.

Brenna24 · 26/04/2016 07:08

The bleeding is a lot heavier this morning. I think it is turning into a full blown miscarriage. I can't believe it. 11 months, 2 or maybe 3 pregnancies (I think something similar happened a couple of days earlier on christmas eve) and I am no further forward. Going to phone the Dr today and get the ball rolling on investigations.

stealthbanana · 26/04/2016 07:37

Oh no brenna. Will keep up the hope for you. You might want to have a look at some of the info on immunes testing - I don't think the NHS is very good at doing it so worth considering doing some tests privately. I am not an expert but several on this thread are and am sure they can help! Hugs and Flowers

MPP81 · 26/04/2016 07:40

I'm so sorry, Brenna. Thinking of you Flowers

Stealth great news on the beta!

Banana good luck today!

OP posts:
lucieloos · 26/04/2016 08:18

Stealth, that seems like a very healthy beta!

Banana, good luck today with your beta. Would be lovely if it had taken a big drop.

Rebecca, even with IVF on the NHS they will still want to scan you around day 3,8 and 10 which won't be possible if you're on holidays. If you're doing long protocol they would probably start you down regging this cycle as stimms won't begin until next cycle.

Trixie, hope your scan went ok?

Sammy, your mini break sounds lovely!

Brenna, so sorry to hear about the bleeding. The same thing happened to me. I really hope it's something else though and baby is ok. Can you go to epu and get checked up or have bloods done?

Nothing much happening with me. Have been trying Internet cheapy tests and they are definitely getting lighter. I'm waiting for them to go negative before trying frers as the cheapys were ages behind them. I have been bleeding for over 3 weeks now but haven't had anything so far this morning although I expect something will show up soon. I'm waiting for it to stop and then my proper af to arrive. Think I've decided if we have time before our holidays in June then we will transfer a frostie but if af takes a bit longer and we don't have time for that we will try the mini IVF. If we don't have time for either of those then we will have to wait until July and think again.

maplebaby · 26/04/2016 08:53

Sammy ohh lovely! Will the weather be lovely over there? Very jealous!

Banana I think one if my friends def does not want to carry so would be the egg provider! But I reckon if they wanted another then the tummy mummy would also be egg mummy! Good luck with the beta today. Also glad you got to have a chat with your friend.

Brenna Thanks hoping it's not and still praying it's a sticky. Thinking of you.

Lucie I hope it's the end of the bleeding for you - do you have another blood test soon?

lucieloos · 26/04/2016 09:05

Thanks maple, yes have another blood test on Thursday so I'm hoping that one has gone down quite a lot. Judging by the cheapy test hopefully it has. Ideally I would like it to be under 50 as I think they would discharge me then.

Pikz · 26/04/2016 09:15

Banana I love the bit about showing them their first home... I have my lap and hys photos from all 3 times... Maybe I shall keep them for the same reason Grin

I have been to my GP. EPAC don't scan before 6 weeks and I would be 5 weeks tomorrow. I am going to wait until next week and do another test. If it is positive EPAC want to see me straight away. If it is negative my Dr has a referral letter already drafted and I just need to phone up and tell her and she will send it. My Drs are one of the better practices and very proactive and we have a big teaching hospital up here which has a huge research area as all, so they are generally very proactive as all. I am more than happy to hear every suggestion from people as to what I might want to get tested. I'll check which ones they do and if they don't do immunes maybe get the info for that clinic in greece to fill in the blanks. I'm not giving up without a fight anyway.

JustTrixie · 26/04/2016 11:04

Scan was good, stop taking the pill on Thursday and start injections next Wednesday - eek! Looks like egg collection will end up being a day later than it was last time (due to the weekend) so hope this is ok. It's going to be hard not to compare to last time but its been nearly a year since last fresh cycle so who knows how I will respond this time.

Have a prescription for clexane and intralipids and will be having blood tests to check my oestrogen levels (not 100% sure why though). Over all very very pleased. I had loads of scans with my private cycle but not being scanned until day 8 this time.

I really hope you get time to do something before your holiday Lucie, good that the lines are getting fainter.

Glad things are good with your friend Banana, bloody instadiffers though, why can't people form an orderly queue rather than jumping straight to the front. 'elderly primigravida' I really don't feel old enough to have that on my medical notes.

I'm so sorry Brenna Flowers also hoping that everything is ok but it must be a very scary time. Sounds like you are in the right place if it comes to having tests. I know Banana posted a little while ago about the level 1 and 2 immunes tests and there is some really useful info on the fertility friends website. Over the last few years I've had most of the blood tests done, some private and some on the NHS. I'm pretty sure my issue is high NK cell activity stopping implantation in the first place. I think first port of call would definitely be to see what tests your GP can get done for you and then the Serum tests Banana did look really good. Main thing to remember is that there is treatment to deal with these issues.

RebeccaNoodles · 26/04/2016 12:07

Brenna I'm so sorry Flowers Thinking of you. I am sure you/your doctor have this covered but could be worth (re) checking thyroid levels as they're associated with problems in first trimester. I'm not giving up hope for you though! Stay strong.

Trixie, that all sounds exciting - best of luck and fingers crossed. And happy birthday for this week! Cake

Lucie, really hope the bleeding stops soon for you and that you get back on track for the summer.

And good luck today Banana.

I'm sick today and watching BBC Pride and Prejudice - it's a nice tonic Smile

JustTrixie · 26/04/2016 13:04

Thanks Rebecca, happy birthday to you too Smile hope you feel better.

maplebaby · 26/04/2016 13:10

Brenna glad you have a proactive doctor - it really makes such a difference. Still hoping it will all be ok.

Trixie injections next week! Not long now to wait then!! And your birthday this week?? Me too! Happy birthday Cake

Rebecca hope you feel better soon! Lots of people seem to be poorly at the moment!

Hospital called me today and changed my Hycosy to Friday... I think it must be because of the Junior Doctors strike. At least I don't have to wait for my next cycle or anything!
