Old thread just about finished. Here is a new one... Fx for lots of well earned BFPs for those ttc over forty. We also welcome stories from those who have successfully had their babies over forty and we love hearing back from our graduates.

Sorry MattsMamma Wine

I've no idea why this happens, especially as they say the LP is usually the fixed part of your cycle, possibly failed implantation? I suspect I may have had a chemical pg though impossible to be sure. The dodgy tests were a bit odd, I never had any whilst ttc ds.

Got a bit twingy earlier so I'm possibly ovulating/ovulated.

Kkmuppet · 01/07/2016 22:32

Hey ladies I am desperate for some help to make a really important decision. My lining today had gone up despite the consultants expectations and was 7.8mm. The cut off at my clinic is 7. So if this was the initial measurement i would have no hesitation about going ahead. BUT my lining has now been growing for 5 weeks (!) and it will be another week before they replace our only embryo (prob last chance of preg with own eggs). I'm struggling. On the 'go' side my lining is good and triple layered. My liver is a bit dodgy and probably wouldn't be happy with more estrogen priming and there is no guarantee I'll get a lining this thick next time. On the 'no go' side I'm worried my lining is too old - I've found a couple of studies that found longer priming led to lower preg rates (but they were small sample sizes and didn't control for any other variables that may contribute to needing longer e.g. Age). And I know now that estrogen patches made a huge difference so chances are if I used them from the start I would get a good lining much quicker.
My husband is being a bit useless and leaving it up to me so please let me have any thoughts or opinions that may help!!

ababsurdum · 02/07/2016 09:47

Oh Kkmuppet what a dilemma, I'm not sure I have any knowledge that would help you make an informed decision. What makes you think that you couldn't get the same lining again if you used the patches?

Kkmuppet · 02/07/2016 10:03

Thanks for replying ababs yep it's a tricky one. Re next time there's just no guarantee. I suspect I would get a good lining but can't be certain. Right now it's kind of 'bird in the hand' scenario

IAteSomeofthePies · 02/07/2016 10:06

Bah, bfn. This really does screw with your head, ababs and matts.

kk what a huge choice! I don't think I really understand the whole lining thing, so I don't have any practical advice. But I think you also need to focus on you. Your health is more important than ttc, although it is hard to keep that in mind sometimes. If another go could compromise your liver then that is a pretty serious consideration, I reckon.

IAteSomeofthePies · 02/07/2016 10:07

Cross post, kk! Well, you know what they say about the bird in the hand.

ababsurdum · 02/07/2016 11:08

Has the clinic given you a recommendation Kkmuppet?

Sorry it's bfn Pies.

MattsMamma · 02/07/2016 11:53

KHMUPPET - oh bless you X. A difficult decision for you and one only you can decide. I don't really have much knowledge of these things at all, BUT from what you have stated above and if I was in your shoes I would seize the day and do it now. What makes me think this is when you say your lining has increased despite the consultant's expectations. If I am in doubt about things I always try to go with my gut instincts - go with the positive aspects of your current situation if that makes sense and take it from there. I hope you reach the right decision for you - lots of luck xxx

IAteSomeofthePies · 02/07/2016 12:07

Looked again at the IC before I threw it away and there might be the faintest of squinters of a line. Made DH look (mental health nurse) and he says negative. Specifically, 'if this were a test for heroin, then you would have eaten a poppy seed bagel three weeks ago.' I then did Clear Blue test, which was bfn. Arghh, I'm right back in the could I be pregnant, against all odds, madness that I promised myself I wouldn't do!

IAteSomeofthePies · 02/07/2016 12:10

I mean, I'm 5 days after period is due, if hcg isn't properly detectable, then it's unlike to be happy news anyway. I KNOW all this and still the craziness. I'm not even sure the alleged 'line' came up in the time allotted, as I was immediately called away by shouting DS.

Kkmuppet · 02/07/2016 13:56

Oh pies it is such madness isn't it but we all do it! Thanks to all for the advice so far - consultant is useless as they wanted to go ahead when lining was only 6.5mm and I know that pregnancy rates are lower with thinner lining! They have said not to worry and just go ahead but I think my problem is that I just don't trust the medical profession any more since they lost us Ruby Rose :-(

ababsurdum · 02/07/2016 18:13

I'm not surprised Kkmuppet. I think you just have to go with your instinct. There are no guarantees either way unfortunately. I wish you lots of luck if you do decide to go ahead.

MattsMamma · 02/07/2016 20:21

PIES - so get where your coming from on every level. That was me last week although must say my af wasn't as late as yours - so all I can say my lovely is ......... It's not over till AF shows!! Wishing you luck! xx

IAteSomeofthePies · 03/07/2016 11:35

That must be so hard, kk. But like you were saying (I think it was you), there are so many factors at play that the data must be a little inconclusive/ confounded with cofactors. Maybe that's why the consultant isn't as worried?

Still bfn, still no AF. But I'm sure it can't be good news. Just another exciting feature of ttc in your mid forties, I guess! Thanks for the good luck wishes.

ababsurdum · 04/07/2016 18:17

What have you decided to do Kkmuppet?

Pies any progress either way? Hoping you've got a bfp now.

IAteSomeofthePies · 04/07/2016 18:51

Still no new news from me. I'm out of tests again, so won't be able to test again until weds fmu probably. DH just asked why there was a glass of wee on top of the medicine cabinet in the bathroom - I'd hoped to get to the store to buy more tests!

kk hope you've found some clarity.

ababs how are you entertaining yourself during your tww?

ababsurdum · 04/07/2016 20:05

How frustrating! You just want to know don't you? I am keeping everything crossed for you.

I'm just doing the usual toddler stuff. I am a sahm so don't have work to take my mind off it. I'm only 3 dpo so to early to be worrying too much about it.

IAteSomeofthePies · 04/07/2016 22:56

I really, really do. I seem to have settled on it's the menopause as the most likely answer. Fatalism at its best.

Enjoy the delightful/ maddening toddler stuff. Most days it's more engrossing than working outside of the house, anyway.

Bondy41 · 05/07/2016 18:11

Hi everyone, I'm new at all this, been trying to get pregnant for the past 2.5 years, my ovaries, womb and tubes are fine and I've got to get my bmi to 35 initially then 29 for ivf. Have lost 3st so far and bmi is now 37. I've finally had the AMH test and I'm waiting for the results however my fsh lh is increasing, 21 in April, now 31, really worried that I won't even get pregnant at all. Do any of you know what would happen in terms of fertility treatment and had anyone had a success? Help!

ababsurdum · 06/07/2016 15:18

Pies any news? Hope it's not the menopause, is that how it starts? clueless

Kkmuppet any news from you?

Bondy congratulations on your brilliant weight loss. I'm sorry ttc has been such a trial for you. I don't know much about your test results as I haven't had those tests personally so haven't bothered to investigate. I did have one round of Ivf when I was 41 and though it seemed to go well it wasn't successful. I was lucky enough to conceive my ds the following cycle so I never had to do a second round.

I'm 5dpo today. Last night I dreamt about taking pregnancy tests and getting bfp's amongst many weird things. My subconscious is obviously feeling more positive than me...

Waves to everyone else.

Bloopbleep · 06/07/2016 16:30

Hello! May I join you? I'm 41 (almost) been ttc for what seems like forever. I'm told I have secondary infertility despite no blockages or polyps/fibroids/endo. I ovulate regularly and my fsh and amh are good for my age. I have a variable Luteal phase with no known cause and GP doesn't seem worried. I do bbt and have low temps even post ov but I attribute this to being hypothyroid. I had a mc 7 months ago and nothing since. So yeah that's me. Waves

Kkmuppet · 06/07/2016 19:10

Well decision made - I'm going for fet on Friday! Welcome bloop and bondy

Bondy41 · 06/07/2016 19:22

I'm going for my next fertility appointment on 12th July, dreading what he's going to say 😔

Hi everyone

IAteSomeofthePies · 07/07/2016 19:25

Still no news from me. Grrr, no AF and still bfn. I've actually stopped expecting there to be news, though in sure that is a bit crazy. I do have a headache, so maybe it will be AF at last. I've no idea if this is ow the menopause starts either, ababs! It would be strangely early, based upon my mother's age at menopause and the fact that I had mostly regular periods until this past month would suggest otherwise. But who knows?!

ababs hope the tww passes quickly and that your dreams mean you are due a bfp.

kk good luck for tomorrow! I'm not two sure what FET is but sending my best good wishes your way.

Bondy welcome and congrats on such an impressive weight loss! I haven't had any tests so can't advise there, in afraid. Hope the appt goes well.

Hi and welcome bloop! Sorry for your loss. That is so hard.

Good luck everyone!
