Old thread just about finished. Here is a new one... Fx for lots of well earned BFPs for those ttc over forty. We also welcome stories from those who have successfully had their babies over forty and we love hearing back from our graduates.

JassS - that's exactly what we needed to hear! I just grinned when I read your news - congratulations!!! Delighted for you. We had missed your words of wisdom on this thread too!

Gum, good to hear from you! How have you been?

joeywife - that sounds promising. It's great that you found a doctor who is being receptive and helpful - that makes such a difference. Whenever I mention at the GPs that we're ttc or haven't quite given up hope of another, they glance at my DOB and then sort of squirm and look uncomfortable... Just what I need to feel uplifted and positive..Hmm
Looking forward to hearing how it goes... I've been thinking of having the HyCoSy too.

Ababs... Dizzy is good...I've certainly had that as a BFP symptom in the past. Fingers crossed for you!

Nothing much to report here. Mid tww. Boobs a bit sore but not really at encouraging levels. DH is being a grumpy git, no idea why, but I'm very glad it's only been the last few days and not dtd time because he's being far too annoying for even the most mechanical dtd. Maybe one of those male cycle dips, I don't know. He's got plenty of time to recover before next ovulation time so I'm just ignoring him or ever so gently encouraging him to go out and expend his grumpiness elsewhere.

Morning ladies,
A little update from. Went to my acupuncturist and I believe she sorted out my OV day as it was back on CD14. And consequently my cycle this time is 27 days which is my regular ones. Suffice to say AF arrived today after 2 days of brown spotting (my indicator of imminent AF). So I'm out this month. Disappointed but holding my head high. This battle is not over! It only started 😉

Sorry to hear about others' AF and good luck with the ones are still hanging in there!

See you all next month.

RS x

PS acupuncturist was very happy with my pulse and progress I've shown so far (eating her suggested foods etc) and she reckons I have chances to be pregnant within 3 months. Time will tell....

notsoold · 12/06/2016 10:58

Reporting back as I am burping our newest arrival. Ds3 arrived 3 weeks ago. I will be 45 in 6 weeks.
He is perfect and after only relaxing after the 30th week of pregnancy I wanted to share this news with you all who supported me through my mcs and pg of ds2 and this one.
There is hope for us oldies.
Ps the egg meet sperm plan here did noy work so well. The" having sex because we missed our window anyway" worked as both of them were conceived regardless of the ovulation sticks and cbfm saying otherwise. Go figure.....
Good luck to you all and special hugs to those struggling

Clara101 · 12/06/2016 13:39

Congrats JassS and wonderful news notsoold. I'm trying for dc3 at 43 and been starting to feel it's too late so it's v good to hear these success stories. About to try coq10 as my energy is low and think that's one of the issues holding us back. Hugs to everyone on this thread.

Russkispy · 12/06/2016 17:53

Lullabellesmell · 12/06/2016 18:06

Hello ladies. May I join you?
I'm almost 41 - I've been ttc for a year had very early mc 6months ago but nothing since.
Bloods all good for my age (fsh & amh) - ovulate every month but think my progesterone doesn't last long enough for implantation to be successful. Im told it doesn't work that way. I've no idea why we haven't caught another egg & I'm getting disheartened.

Any tips on keeping going without losing the will to shag?

ababsurdum · 12/06/2016 19:42

Twinkly fx for you on this tww. Sorry you have a grumpy dh, hope he snaps out of it soon.

Russkispy sorry you're out this cycle. Hopefully your acupuncturist is right and you will conceive within the next three months. It's good your ov date is back to normal.

Notsoold great to hear from you, glad all is well. A good reminder to do extra dtd just in case!

Lullabellesmell welcome. I'm sorry for your loss and that it's taking a while ttc. Are you trying for your first? Have you asked the gp about progesterone suppositories? Might be worth a shot if you think there's an issue.

I'm 12dpo today and AF is due tomorrow. I am not feeling pg and had a glass of white wine last night in defiance! This is the first month since we started ttc post mc (It must be the 7th cycle?) that I haven't tested. Weirdly before I ovulated I had a feeling it was going to happen this month. Wishful thinking eh? I hope everyone else is well.

Lullabellesmell · 12/06/2016 20:06

Ababsurdum I asked my GP who said she's not able to prescribe progesterone. That's different to what I've read online but she maintains it's correct. I'm in Scotland, so I don't know if that makes any difference :(

My fingers are crossed for all those in the 2ww. I was so enthusiastic this time round and thought it would be my month- still early days but just don't feel it

ababsurdum · 13/06/2016 11:50

Lullabellesmell it seems to just depend on how sympathetic and knowledgeable your gp is based on the experiences of people on these threads.

Kkmuppet · 13/06/2016 21:40

Well I have been out of this for a couple weeks as we've been having a hard time. Our dearest friends went into labour at 23.2 and despite best efforts had their daughter at 23.6. It was really rough for us as ever since we heard we just thought they were going to have to go through the pain we had with losing Ruby Rose. BUT so far so good! She is in NICU and on all kinds of support tubes but at the moment doing well so what a miracle! Obviously things could change any day but we are all staying hopeful so I feel a bit better now.
Hello to all the newbies!! I haven't had time to read all the posts but will catch up.
As for me I am mid FET cycle. Lining wasn't thick enough last week so another week of hormones that are giving me raging headaches and a belly that looks pregnant! Will find out on Friday if we are good to go for a transfer next week.
Good luck to all in the 2ww

TwinklyMusic · 14/06/2016 00:17

Great to hear from you notsoold and congratulations! Can't believe how fast that time went!

Lullabell I had the same rubbish from my GP when I went to ask her to put me on progesterone to try and prevent miscarriage - I was about 5 or six weeks pregnant at the time. She point blank refused (oddly saying she would have if I had not conceived naturally) and I lost the baby at nine weeks. I know it could have been for hundreds of reasons, but I still wonder if I had spoken to a different GP, would I be sitting here with a 2 month old right now?

GPs make me so mad because they are so inconsistent. As ababs said, it depends on the GP. I think the more knowledgeable and experienced, the better.

Kkmuppet, I'm so sorry because your friends' distress must bring back a lot of memories for you. We can all help root with you that this little one pulls through. Flowers

How are you doing ababs? Did you test? Fx!

OP posts:
ababsurdum · 14/06/2016 15:48

Grrr have lost two posts today...

Kkmuppet how awful for your friends. I'm so glad the little one is doing well, hopefully she'll continue to thrive, it's truly amazing what can be done now. As Twinkly said, it must have brought back some painful memories. Sending positive thoughts too for your FET, I'm looking forward to hearing good news from you soon!

Twinkly how are you feeling, any early symptoms?

I'm really not sure what's happening. I expected AF yesterday and it's still not arrived. Yesterday I was feeling dizzy and weird on and off all day and had half convinced myself I was pregnant. I asked dh to pick up some tests on his way home - bfn. This morning I decided to take the second test (not fmu) and I could see a very faint line. I buy some clearblue tests and ruin the first one which is all washed out, the second is negative, admittedly only about half an hour later. This afternoon I'm in town anyway so pick up some superdrug tests which I think are about the most sensitive ones. Test looks negative but a bit later there's a faint line, instructions say this means it's not accurate. I'm itching to use the last one but know I'm better off waiting a day or two.

TwinklyMusic · 14/06/2016 21:30

Oh ababs how frustrating!!! Rooting for you here!! You must be dying to take that test!

Not good news from me - looks like AF is arriving even earlier... Sad

OP posts:
ababsurdum · 14/06/2016 21:38

Oh no Twinkly, I'm sorry Sad

I took it, of course... Blush Bfn. Still no AF though. Maybe it will start tonight.

TwinklyMusic · 14/06/2016 21:55

Just wondering if taking aspirin is likely to cause earlier AF? It probably is, isn't it? And if so, which is better, taking aspirin to aid implantation, or a longer luteal phase? Any one know? Confused

OP posts:
TwinklyMusic · 14/06/2016 21:57

X post ababs - sorry!

Oh no... but no AF? You were due yesterday?

OP posts:
TwinklyMusic · 14/06/2016 22:07

My phone didn't update - sorry, honestly didn't mean to ignore your frustrated (and no doubt upsetting!) update with my demented ponderings!

Flowers ...stupid tests....

OP posts:
ababsurdum · 14/06/2016 22:18

Oh please don't worry. Not sure if aspirin would cause early AF. It's not something I've come across but I've not looked into it either. Have you actually started bleeding red or is it just spotting? I got some yucky, gungy spotting several days before my bfp last year. It was very unusual for me. I think as long as your LP is 10 days or more it should be ok?

I expected AF yesterday as I think I ovulated on cd14 and I usually have a 12 day LP. Not an exact science, I know. I guess I'll know for sure one way or another in the next couple of days...

MattsMamma · 15/06/2016 11:25

Well just popped in for a quick check and wowsers JASS!!! Fantastic news - so pleased for you! You have given me hope. Please do keep us updated with your fabulous news xx. Just wondered a cant remember but did you take steroids previously sorry can't backtrack at the moment on the thread. Sorry if I am confusing you with someone else!

CHEWY - hope your ok xx

ABABS - interesting withmthe pregnancy testing! Fingers crossed for you.

Hellos to everyone else - this is just a quick pop in and I will have to catch up with th thread ! Hope everyone ok! it's ovulation time for me again but trying to remain very neutral about everything especially as dh was away again at the crucial time !!! Anyway we will see might just have caught that elusive egg xx

ababsurdum · 15/06/2016 16:40

Hope you managed to catch that egg Mattsmamma.

Still no AF here.

totalnamechanger · 15/06/2016 20:57

abab I'm getting a little excited for you... keep us posted!

noso congratulations! How are you feeling this time around? Thank you for reporting back. Exciting times... Grin

Thanks for the list russkisspy I'll try and shoehorn some of those into my (chocolate, cream, coffee and blue cheese today but trying to be better) diet.

Hello lullabellsmell I'm 41 and also had early mc 6 months ago. I was hopeful that I'd be more fertile 6 months afterwards but it's all been very uneventful. Let me know what happens with regards to progesterone. I'm having another progesterone test this month as my temps are very low and luteal phase is getting a bit short.

Is AF definitely here Twinkly?

Good luck egg catching Mattsmamma. My DH is going away day 14 and is ill now so while I was hoping I'd ovulate early I don't know if he's up to it. Travelling with work is a bugger.

Kk I'm sorry to hear your friend has had such a difficult time and really hope things will start to stabilise. Someone in my family had a very early baby weighing 800 grams and she is now a beautiful two year old. Still a terrifying experience. I am so sorry that this will be a very traumatic time for you and hope you are having all the support you need. All the best for this cycle.

totalnamechanger · 15/06/2016 21:02

Hello clara btw Smile and thanks joeywife for hycosy info. I'm going to start looking into it. Yup don't think I'll be a high nhs priority.

JessieMcJessie · 16/06/2016 00:19

Just sticking my head in to offer my heartfelt condolences to Chewy - what a devastating experience for you. You were always such a support and uplifting presence on my thread when you dropped in. So, so gutted for you. Here's hoping the next IVF is a success.

Kkmuppet · 16/06/2016 01:22

ababs those tests sound like you're not out yet. Keeping fingers tightly crossed!!
twinkly not sure aspirin would cause early af just perhaps risk of heavier flow?
chewy don't know if you are still popping in here but hope you're doing ok.

ababsurdum · 16/06/2016 10:56

Well I got some tests this morning. Based on the way I'm feeling and no AF I was expecting a bfp but it was bfn. I'm thinking it may be a chemical pregnancy? I'm feeling pretty gutted but I guess that's ttc over 40. Hope others are having better luck!
