This clinic is so slow!! I've been here an hour already and so far all they have done is shown me to a room and taken my blood pressure! Not very good seeing as I am paying privately for it. The procedure itself takes around an hour so I'm panicking now what time I'm going to get back to work! I've been out once to look for somebody and they said they are waiting for the doctor to come down! Not impressed.

Hello ladies, wow this thread is busy!
Boris, great news on fertilisation! Seems a small sample is no issue at all. Enjoy your next few days in Czech and good luck for day 3 results tmrw and et on Monday. So exciting!
Welcome noplan, hope af stays away for you. I'm ttc #1 too but I understand. One of the only friends I've told about this has been ttc#2 for over 4 years. She had two mcs in the first couple of years and then nothing since and sometimes feels guilty because she already has one. I think whatever your circumstances this journey is hard and we all need support. You'll get that here Smile
Sammy, great news on your lining, that sounds v positive. Thanks for the inspirational quote too, love it!
Mpp, let's not kid ourselves we will go a cycle without hoping. No matter how small the chance, it's still a chance so you never know!
Trixie, have you made a decision on the intrallipids? Will you have to pay if you go for them. Glad things will get going for you soon and that the immunes appointment was good.
Stealth, I'm an ivf ignoramus (learning through this thread) but those follicles sound great even to me! Sorry you're having to inject for so long - sounds a real drag but as others have said, def worth it.
Lucie, good luck with intrallipids treatment, I'm sure you'll get your story straight! What's involved? Is it painful? I'm wondering whether I should get tested for immunes... I hadn't realized you had immune issues, I thought it was low reserve and male factor?

No update from me I'm afraid, we managed to dtd almost every other day so far and af due next weekend when I'll be on a boozy weekend in Barcelona. I have no doubt she'll show up right on cue. However, at least we're closer to treatment and nearer to the new batch of sperm the proxeed is meant to be cooking. 6 more weeks until I get serious/obsessive again. A girl in my team (25) announced her pregnancy yesterday - I'd kind of guessed so not too bad. Then I felt genuinely happy for her as she said she'd been trying 2 years - is that what I need to be happy for someone?!

star1980 · 04/03/2016 12:04

Grr, Lucie that's annoying. Hope the Dr shows up soon!

BorisIsBack · 04/03/2016 12:27

Star sounds like you've done well to DTD eod or near enough.

Sammy - great news!

Lucie hope they sorted you out. Sounds frustrating.

lucieloos · 04/03/2016 12:42

I had to go back out at 1215 and find another nurse and said I was starting to get worried as I had to go back to work afterwards and I thought we would be getting started at 11am. They came and started me pretty quickly after that. They measured my heart rate when I came in and it was 92bpm and once they started the procedure it went down to 70 so she said it showed I was stressing lol. Anyway I'm all hooked up and feeling fine. Hoping it should be done in about 30 more mins. They've brought me a nice coffee and cookies which makes up for it a little Smile Also they haven't asked anything about my treatment or transfer at the moment which I'm sure has brought my heart rate down too haha!

Star, congrats on the massive dtd effort! Would be amazing if it paid off for you but if not you have a lovely trip to Barcelona to enjoy.

Oh and sorry star I forgot to answer your questions. Some people have a raised immune system and high natural killer cells which means that when an embryo Is transferred the body sees it as a foreign object and attacks it whereas normally the body should realise it's an embryo and switch off immune response. I had some tests for hidden infections previously which came back positive for a couple of things and even though these tests weren't directly immune related they said there's a chance that my nk cells could be higher than normal. Also I never, ever get ill. I can't remember the last time I even had a cold it must have been years ago. My clinic have said that the meds for immunes won't do any harm even if they don't do any good and are happy for me to have them. I'm happy too as I like to try everything possible for a cycle so kind of feel that I've done everything I can.

Anyway all done now. She sped them up for me in the end so it was finished within half an hour. Didn't feel anything at all and no side effects. It's strange to think a thick, white soy based liquid can have any effect on anything but there we are at least I've tried!

OP posts:
loopylou1984 · 04/03/2016 13:41

Lucie - I'm wondering about immunes as I very rarely get ill. I get the start of colds etc but always manage to fight them off. Glad the procedure was painless, and fx it does the trick! Glad they got their acts together in the end too!

Star - good work dtd! I've learnt tonnes from this thread!

I'm in shock with the 7mm to be honest, I think it's taking out the suppressing injection that must have done it. I'm so used to bad news that I think I was extremely surprised with a bi of good news. Keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to thicken over the next few days, could even be a week before transfer so still more time! Xx

lucieloos · 04/03/2016 13:50

Yes that's why I think the immunes are worth a try Sammy. See how you get on with this next transfer. Hopefully it will work for you but if not maybe you could have a chat with your consultant about immunes and see if they would be happy to treat empirically or if they would require testing.

Just got back into work and feels strange. Everyone carrying on as normal with no idea I've just spend the last 45 mins hooked up to a drip! The things we do...

OP posts:
star1980 · 04/03/2016 13:57

I see. Glad they sped you up and no questions asked. Erm, can I ask a stupid question...? Does the soy go into your bloodstream or up into your womb, or somewhere else altogether??! Glad it's pain-free, sounds like there was nothing to be nervous about, but I guess why you would be. Think you're right to throw everything at it, much better than wondering what if...?

Sammy are you doing a fet? Id been thinking you were doing full ivf. I have my fingers crossed your lining continues to thicken.

So happy it's Friday! Smile

star1980 · 04/03/2016 13:59

Sorry, crossed posts. I see - a drip! Was trying to imagine where the thick creamy liquid was going!

lucieloos · 04/03/2016 14:18

I'm happy it's Friday too looking forward to a relaxing weekend.

Here's some more info on intralipids if you're interested www.bourn-hall-clinic.co.uk/treatments/intralipid/

OP posts:
JustTrixie · 04/03/2016 15:09

I know what you mean Star, I think when you go through long term ttc it is very hard hearing about people who conceive straight away. Yep, we'd have to pay for intralipids. Would either go to my private clinic I think or use healthcare at home as they don't do them at the hospital.

So glad it went well Lucie and they didn't ask anything about treatment. I'd have felt pretty miffed at being kept waiting too. It's really helpful to hear about your experience. I've been feeling a bit squeamish about it but I've managed everything else so sure I would be ok with it. I imagine we will end up doing them.

All pretty positive on here at the moment Smile

lucieloos · 04/03/2016 16:01

There's nothing to be squeamish about really. They put the drip in your arm like before egg collection and then it just filters through. Don't feel it going in or anything. The nurse that was monitoring me did end up asking if I was having treatment at the moment and I said that we had been doing embryo banking in Czech and would have a transfer soon so that all went ok. I have been wondering about having a progesterone blood test on trigger day though as I'm still concerned that my progesterone levels possibly rise before they should causing the lining to be out of sync. Hopefully i won't see the same nurse when I have that done or she will think it's a bit odd!

loopylou1984 · 04/03/2016 21:07

Transfer booked for Thursday morning!! Eeeek! Xx

lucieloos · 04/03/2016 21:12

Eeek exciting Sammy!! Do you start progesterone on Sunday?

OP posts:
bananafish81 · 04/03/2016 22:03

My friend calls intralipids miracle mayonnaise Grin

Woop sammy! My lining thickened even after starting progesterone

It was 5.5mm on the Monday @ EC
I started progesterone on the Tues
At my lining scan on Fri it was 8.5mm!

So the oestrogen still kept on working even after the lining started to compact under the influence of the Cyclogest

And at my scan last week the consultant was thrilled to see the endometrium had been maintained

Sounds like you're absolutely rocking!

Got another scan tomorrow eek

loopylou1984 · 05/03/2016 07:07

I start cyclogest tonight. I think because it's an AM transfer on Thursday.

Banana that's good to hear, hopefully mine will do the same!
Good luck with your scan, which one is this? Sorry I have lost track of time! Xx

lucieloos · 05/03/2016 07:37

That all sounds good Sammy. Will you have another scan before transfer or is this it now and it's just transferred straight back in on Thursday?

Good luck with the scan banana.

OP posts:
loopylou1984 · 05/03/2016 07:52

Just the scan on the morning of transfer. Unless anything has gone horrible wrong transfer is happening. How are you doing Lucie? Xx

BorisIsBack · 05/03/2016 08:02

Good luck banana. X

lucieloos · 05/03/2016 08:04

I'm glad to hear it Sammy. I hope everything goes smoothly now. Sounds like there isn't too much more to worry about.

I'm ok thanks. I have both of my scans next week, one on Tuesday and the other probably on Thursday. I'm not thinking about it and stressing too much at the moment. I used to go to the scans and hope for lot of follicles and get upset if there weren't that many but now it seems that even when I have a decent number I never get many eggs collected anyway so I don't think it really matters too much now so long as I have a couple of half decent ones there so I'm going to try not to let it stress me out as I'm tired of worrying about it all now. I've started feeling some twinges and pangs in my ovaries in the last day so hopefully there's something going on in there.

OP posts:
lucieloos · 05/03/2016 08:06

Hey Boris good luck with your day 3 results today. Let us know how you get on.

OP posts:
BorisIsBack · 05/03/2016 12:39

Day three in the little embryo house we have all 10 still going. 2 are at 7 cell stage, 4x8 cells, 1x9 cells, 2x10 cells and one morula already. The lady I spoke to said the morula might be an issue as its developed too soon but she was confident about the rest.

Sammy hope the cyclogest is ok.

Banana any news lovely? X

BorisIsBack · 05/03/2016 12:41

Oh and lucie sorry for more questions, how long in total time do you have to be at the clinic for for the embryo transfer??

lucieloos · 05/03/2016 12:56

That's brilliant news Boris sounds like you have an excellent batch there. You should get a good number of frosties. Are you going to have one or two transferred? The transfer itself only takes a few minutes and then they let you lie down for about 10 mins afterwards but I would allow about an hour or maybe a little more in total. Don't forget to take a pic of your blast on screen before they put it in xx
