Excellent news boris! Great haul.

BorisIsBack · 02/03/2016 17:27

Thanks all. I'm just praying they mature and fertilise.
Lucie we walked round the town today and did some local sight seeing. Will go to Prague tomorrow. DH goes home on Friday morning as he has his kids this weekend so I'll just stay local. Transfer on Monday, home Monday night.

BorisIsBack · 02/03/2016 17:28

Banana, dH said his sample was really small so he probably has not many spermz having a great time with all thoes eggs. Hope they still respect each other in the morning.

lucieloos · 02/03/2016 17:50

That all sounds good Boris, I loved Prague. Keep us posted with your news tomorrow.

JustTrixie · 02/03/2016 17:56

Glad it went well Boris, good luck with your fertilisation results tomorrow.

NoPlanYet · 02/03/2016 18:13

Great news Boris! I have lots to learn about ivf etc but 13 eggs sounds v good to me. May the right number mature than fertilise Smile

We've been trying to book a GP telephone appt to get DPs sperm checked but after a week of trying no bloody appt still. Might just chuck it onto the private bill since it moves so much quicker so I'm really glad I know that now...

How many of you have children and how many are first timers? I'm getting really worked up about the timing of DC2 because I want as small a gap as possible. If I fall pregnant now it'll be 3+3 which is already almost a year bigger than I wanted. All my nct friends have a second or are about to pop and I find it really hard to be happy for them. Do others worry about the gap? I don't think I've yet accepted the possibility a second won't happen...

lucieloos · 02/03/2016 18:53

Noplan, we don't have any children so would be happy to get one at the moment. I would definitely get the sperm analysis done privately if you can as it is so much quicker than the NHS.

loopylou1984 · 02/03/2016 19:11

Hi noplan, no children here either, but I did think that we'd be thinking about number two by now. Have been ttc since October 2013. X

NoPlanYet · 02/03/2016 19:37

I'll take my self indulgent gap rant elsewhere Blush

bananafish81 · 02/03/2016 19:55

boris honestly volume wise they put the tiniest drop in the dish for IVF, and ICSI they just need 11. So he doesn't need to have provided buckets of it Wink

noplan no kids yet. We had assumed we would never be able to have more than one as the chances of any cycle working were so remote given my exceptionally poor prognosis. We really did hit the jackpot (after a borderline premature ovarian failure diagnosis) in getting 4 frosties from this cycle, so if this one sticks we are very hopeful that there will be a sibling in the freezer. But we certainly had accepted we would be lucky to have one, and that to ask for two seemed like asking for a lot when the odds were so bleak

loopylou1984 · 02/03/2016 20:13

Noplan - don't worry. You have as much right as the rest of us to feel that you're plan hasn't worked out.Smile

MPP81 · 02/03/2016 23:47

Evening all!

That's fantastic Boris! Hope you're having a good time, and I have everything crossed for you!

Sammy, did you take the hot water bottle into work after?

Welcome Noplan. I am also ttc#2, though DC1 is 13. I originally wanted a gap like you want, but split up with her dad and didn't meet my DP until a couple of years ago. Personally, with the knowledge I have now, I would go for the private SA. I'm impatient, and the two week wait for the NHS results drove me insane. :)

loopylou1984 · 03/03/2016 07:11

Hi mpp, no I didn't, but am going today! Lol. It was actually really cold in the office yesterday so I don't think I'll look too mad! Xx

MPP81 · 03/03/2016 09:43

I don't blame you Sammy! It's bloody cold out today!

FF has very kindly confirmed ov, and the irony is that, because of the low count, we're trying to let the boys build up for a couple of days rather than trying eod, and if DP hadn't had his episodes of stage fright, we likely would have DTD too early and not had any time for him to 'refresh'. Rather stupidly, I'm hopeful again this month. No idea why, as it's probably going to end the same as every other month. Hey ho, on we go :)

JustTrixie · 03/03/2016 10:50

Good idea about bringing a hot water bottle to work Sammy and Lucie, I may get one myself.

Glad things ended up working out well timing wise MPP.

Lucie, definitely think it's worth having acupuncture. The Consultant we saw last time gave details of the acupuncturist they recommend, not sure whether to get in touch or whether to stick to reflexology.

Hi NoPlan, I'm another first timer (been TTC since December 2013). It must be hard with your nct friends but try not to worry too much about the gap.

So, had our hospital appointment this morning. Will either start bc pills after my next AF or the one after that depending on availability. Will be on a higher dose of prednisolone due to NK cells and will start it when I start injecting rather than after egg collection.

lucieloos · 03/03/2016 11:12

MPP, glad things worked out ok for you timing wise.

Trixie, I am just about to get my hot water bottle on the go! Im feeling cold today and think it's a good excuse to sit with it on my lap for a bit and hopefully give those follies a boost! I would be tempted to give the acupuncture a go even if it's just a few times around transfer as the studies have shown a 65% increase in implantation rates for those that have an acupuncture session right before and after transfer. Im taking that with a pinch of salt but going to give it a try anyway.

That's brilliant news about your appt. Will you be starting your cycle in April? What dose of pred have they recommended for you and did they say anything about intralipids? I started 10mg pred just before starting stimms. Haven't really noticed any side effects but it seems to have made the skin on my face amazingly smooth. I can't stop touching it lol.

OP posts:
JustTrixie · 03/03/2016 11:44

It is cold! luckily I have an electric heater in my office so it is pretty warm.
Think it will be late March/early April or late April/early May. Would have been mid April if we were going off my natural cycle and early April is going to be quite busy so may well try and go for the latter. Don't really like to plan life around IVF but do prefer to take it as easy as possible.
I think its going to be 20-25mg. Smooth skin is a bonus! We're undecided about intralipids - his advice seemed to be to keep things simple and stick with the higher dose of pred. And if it didn't work there'd be something else to try. Got some time to decide though.

Pikz · 03/03/2016 13:10

Just popping in :)

Exciting to see all the scans, collections and plans... It seems suddenly to be moving forward for everyone.

Noplan I tried for 2 years with DC1 and over that with this bump. I will have a 3+4 gap and I was devastated by this for a while as everyone else got what they wanted. To be honest now I'm just feeing really blessed that their will be a DC2 if all goes well. It takes time to get over the disappointment but you will I promise

lucieloos · 03/03/2016 17:27

Hi pikz good to see you and hope all is well.

Boris, any news on fertilisation? Hope you are enjoying Prague.

Trixie, I would go with the intralipids this time but that's just me. I don't see the point in waiting for another round if it's something that could help this time but I am throwing the kitchen sink at it.

I have my intralipids tomorrow! Hopefully it will go ok and not be too traumatic! I think it's just a lot of sitting around. I'm hoping all that protein will give my follies a nice boost Smile

BorisIsBack · 03/03/2016 19:00

Hello -

Waves to pikz.

Lucie good luck for your intralipids tomorrow.

Trixie that time will go so quickly and it'll be april before you know it.

So all 13 of my eggs were mature and 10 fertilised. Transfer booked for late Monday - i fly home pretty much straight after does anyone know if that's ok?

lucieloos · 03/03/2016 19:14

That's brilliant news Boris! Sounds like you will have a good number to choose from there. Flying etc is fine after transfer. They encourage you to stay active and get the blood flowing. Good luck with your next lot of results on Saturday.

Thank you. I've started to take the progesterone they gave me, I was a bit groggy when they gave them to me but I think they said to start taking them now. The guys at the clinic are lovely.

lucieloos · 03/03/2016 19:33

Yes you start progesterone after egg collection. They are really lovely at the clinic aren't they. Which doctor did your collection?

I didn't catch her name, she was young, very skinny and blonde!

lucieloos · 03/03/2016 19:57

Sounds like dr Marcela, she is lovely.
