Stealth you'll feel good when it's done. Thanks to the sleep stuff it's not a difficult procedure.

JustTrixie · 08/03/2016 20:57

How frustrating Boris!

Good luck Stealth, it will be over before you know it. A hot water bottle for afterwards is a good call.

This has reminded me that the Dr at the hospital last week said they do a 'soft' sedation so I won't be knocked out for EC - Eek!

lucieloos · 08/03/2016 22:11

I think this is what I'm going to have too Trixie! They have suggested I take an iPod to listen to whilst in theatre!! Eeek not sure what it's going to be like. Will let you know.

Soft sedation?? Now that doesn't sound fun.

Stealth good luck for today. Hope your dudes feel better soon.

loopylou1984 · 09/03/2016 07:22

Good luck today stealth :).

Lucie - I'm sure you'll be more out than you think. Pretty sure my sedation was 'soft' but I hardly remember a thing. Xx

lucieloos · 09/03/2016 07:25

Hope so Sammy will report back on Friday!

Good luck stealth!

I've cancelled my progesterone blood test now. I didn't have enough time to rearrange it for this morning and all of my opks have been negative with only a tiny trace of a line which I could barely see so I'm hoping that means that my LH levels are very low and therefore wouldn't be causing progesterone to rise.

For those that have done IVF did you take any of your other meds on trigger day? They told me yesterday that I would also take my Menopur and suprecur today which is a bit unusual as I wouldn't normally take anything apart from trigger on trigger day. I just rang up to query it with the nurse as I take all my injections in the evening so it could be that I would need to do them at the same time as the trigger which would be unusual. She didn't really know but said they always say to take the suprecur on trigger day but she's not sure about the Menopur. They are having a meeting with the doctors at lunch time and will then ring me this afternoon to let me know exactly what I need to do. I have a feeling she assumed I did my injections in the morning but that wouldn't have been possible as they only gave me the meds in the afternoon and wanted me to start that day.

lucie great news on the opk

Yes I took both my stims and my Cetrotide on trigger day both times

He told me to take them at 7pm and then the trigger at 9pm / 9.30pm (depending on EC time obvs) as he wanted the trigger to be the last thing I took

So certainly no alarm bells from this end - and might just give the laggards a bit of oomph at the final furlong xx

bananafish81 · 09/03/2016 10:15

BTW he asked me what time I normally did my jabs and as it was 9pm ish that's why he gave me the instructions to do them earlier, as he wanted them as close to my normal time as possible but before the trigger x

lucieloos · 09/03/2016 10:20

Ahh ok that's great thanks Banana. Maybe they will tell me to do the stimms a little earlier in the evening then. I think I would prefer to give them another boost of stimms today than nothing. It's strange that the Czech clinic doesn't even give cetrotide / suprecur on trigger day. I think I might insist upon this next time as I have had issues with follicles disappearing and empty follicles so if it was possibly something to do with ovulating early then the extra cetrotide / suprecur on trigger day should hold that off.

Boris, good luck with the rest of your embryos today. Hope you find out soon and they don't keep you waiting.

Sorry banana can I also ask what clinic you cycled with? Your doctor sounds very good and knowledgable. Sounds like the type of place I would like to have a cycle!

BorisIsBack · 09/03/2016 10:35

Lucie I was told to take my last Gonal f and orgalutran 12 hours before my trigger shot so at 9 am and the trigger at 9pm. I was previously taking the Gonal and orgalutran at 9pm so had two lots of stims in 12 hours then the teigger 12 hours later.

The trigger shot instructions said quite clearly to take the trigger (prognyl) 30 hours after the last stimm and not before. I was really worried I was overdosing on drugs.

bananafish81 · 09/03/2016 10:54

Yes I would deffo be a bit nervous about the lack of Cetrotide or Buserelin on trigger day, as that’s the time when they’re most at danger of going pop! Esp with Cetrotide which is so short acting.

In fact, when I had my first tracking scan on day 6 of stims this last cycle, when he saw all those follies had gone nuts, as well as telling me to halve my Gonal-F for the next 2 nights (and then again the following night), he made me go home there and then to take a dose of Cetrotide, and then again that evening, as he wanted to get the brakes on quickly. Good thing about Cetrotide is it’s short acting. Bad thing about Cetrotide is it’s short acting! Buserelin obv lasts longer so would be less of a concern I guess.

Hoping you won’t need another cycle in Brno, but should you have another EC at any point, then I’d probably do the same and ask about taking it on trigger day - esp given question mark over empty follicles.

I’m actually not with a clinic, but with an independent consultant who acts as a satellite clinic to one of the London clinics. He uses the clinic for EC and ET, and it's obviously their embryology lab, but all scans and appointments and bloods are at his consulting rooms with him.

I’ll happily PM you details, as although it’s not especially identifying, stealth is seeing the same Dr (I joked to him I should charge him a referral fee Grin) and she might not appreciate the details being broadcast

I can say though that I lucked out, as I went to see him for pre TTC conception counselling for my epilepsy and pain meds, with a view to him giving me Clomid for my PCOS…then we discovered my PCOS had gone along with (apparently) all my eggs, and we ended up moving to IVF ridiculously quickly, when it seemed I was in borderline premature ovarian failure. I went to him for PCOS but turns out he did his MD thesis and has won awards for his research into POF, so ended up with the right guy!!!

He did say he’d been a fertility Dr since 1992 but I was one of the most surprising cases he’d ever had. Which I think is diplomatic code for ‘I have no idea WTF has gone on with you’!!

BorisIsBack · 09/03/2016 11:05

Quick update from me, we have 3 blastos in the freezer... Such a relief.

bananafish81 · 09/03/2016 11:12

Amazing news Boris!! Gosh with the two on board you've got a five a side team right there Wink

JustTrixie · 09/03/2016 11:15

Good news re the OPK Lucie and not having to worry about the stress of the progesterone test. Will be good to hear about how you get on with the 'soft' sedation. Feel like you're testing everything out for me, the intralipids, the sedation! I can't remember about my meds on trigger day but I'm pretty sure I actually had a day off injections the day before trigger...

Any news re your blasts Boris?

BorisIsBack · 09/03/2016 11:37

Banana we only tranafered one in the end but one in and 3 in the freezer is a great start.

Trixie - yes three froze, I don't know what quality they were though.

bananafish81 · 09/03/2016 11:41

Ah yes sorry Boris! Can I blame preggo brain?! Confused So thrilled for you, that's just terrific news xx

lucieloos · 09/03/2016 11:43

Banana, yes please it would be brilliant if you could pm me some details of who you used and how it all works so that I can think through my options for future cycles. I haven't been that impressed with the private clinics in my area so I would consider cycling elsewhere.

Boris, great news on the extra 2 blasts in the freezer! I had a feeling there would be something else from all those ones that you had.

Trixie, yes glad I don't have to worry about the progesterone test. Hopefully the levels are ok. I am happy to be a Guinea pig for you and let you know how all these things go. I know you are a bit squeamish about the thought of intralipids but I would definitely say yes to them. Once they have got you going I'm sure you would feel ok with it and you can just relax and read a magazine whilst waiting. You don't feel anything at all.

Lucie I've pm-ed you xx

lucieloos · 09/03/2016 12:27

Thanks Banana, I've replied x

OP posts:
stealthbanana · 09/03/2016 12:58

lucie I took stims the day of trigger but I inject in the morning so there was a bigger gap. Defo would think you need to keep at least onto the cetrotide.

boris 3 blasts for the freezer is absolutely fantastic news. Congrats.

AFM, it turns out I am a total egg factory - just back from EC and they got 37 eggs Shock. Every follicle had an egg. Of course many of them will be immature but hopefully we'll have something to work with from that haul!

lucieloos · 09/03/2016 13:11

OMG stealth that is amazing!! Congratulations all that effort has been worth it. Hope a good number are mature and fertilise overnight for you.
